This review is strictly based on my interaction with one of ODO's staff members. On EVERY site, including the restaurant's, the hours for Sunday are listed as 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM; my BF and I atrived at 2:15 PM to a "CLOSED" sign and the staff eating their lunch; I double-checked all said sites to make sure that I read the hours correctly and then motioned to one of the people inside to confirm if they were actually closed. Unfortunately, a very rude gentleman appeared only to say that they would open in another 40 minutes and promptly closed the door in our faces with an air of annoyance. My girlfriend and I walked in on an early winter Wednesday and easily snagged a table. Came with my friend on a Thursday night. When we got there around 8:30 it was about half full, and we were some of the last people to leave. We ordered the focaccia (which was not what I expected) and also a salad - the insalata zafferano. My friend ordered the timballo and I ordered the pasta alla norma. For dessert, we shared a fig panna cotta, and I took a pizelle home with me. The focaccia was interesting. Almost like torn up pizza dough that had been baked. It was good, but some of it was definitely dark and had a very distinct burnt taste. I love bread, and the light portions were fine, but burnt bits weren't great. We also didn't finish the salad because it was just too spicy. It sounded good on paper, but it was definitely on the spicier side for me. It would have been good to know when we ordered, but that wasn't described to us. For our pastas, I got the pasta alla norma. It was good, but definitely too salty. I also wish the pasta noodles were a little thicker. The eggplant was just roasted and on top of the pasta. I wish something more had been done to it. Overall, it was not worth writing home about, and it was VERY salty. My friend seemed to enjoy her timballo, but I think she also found hers on the saltier side. The service was fine, but it was almost as though she'd forget something when we'd ask. For example, she told us about the timballo, and then I asked what she recommended for vegetarians. She recommended the timballo, forgetting that she mentioned that the sauce had anchovies. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is dim lit and each table had a candle. Given that I'm fairly sensitive to smells, I will say the fumes from the candle were bothering me. We went to Odo on 10/30. The first disappointment was no N/A beer. Got phony Perron and my husband a glass of wine. Most glasses were 15 and up with a skimpy pour. We said we wanted to finish the glass of wine and she said we could at the bar. Our bill was $170 and we had given a 22% tip, we were aghast. Unacceptable behavior. Ok food, for a restaurant in a spot that has seen multiple restaurants there in the last 10 years they are not trying to make friends with the neighborhood. The server should have sat the patrons at the bar, given them a glass of wine and allowed us to finish our meal-no where did anyone EVER say we had to dine in 1.5 hours or we would be kicked out. Visit # 2 to Odo was last night with two other couples. The starters were excellent- Scarpetta with the Vesta sauce, The Bodega Salad, and the Insalata Zafferano. The salad bowls were chilled and everything was fresh. Lamb on a stick- Spuntini? Flavorful but a sparse amount of lamb per skewer. Everyone enjoyed their main courses- The Monkfish special, the Pork Braciole, The Timballo.... I had the Cotoletta which was a HUGE chicken portion. I wasn't paying attention when the prep was described and it is layered with chicken liver between the cutlet and the salad- not to my liking, but my bad. The Super Tuscan was just OK but most everyone seemed to be ok with their drinks. We opted for a trip to Carvel at the corner as my wife has an odd obsession with cherry bonnets :) Now to the service. We experience one of the most nimble restaurant servers in recent memory- Chris! He was patient to explain the specials, offered a sample of a drink special, spaced the courses just right, attentive without being overbearing. You can't teach this type of service- Really exceptional. I guess this is what makes for an excellent experience- even when the entree you select may not be what you thought it was, or something else is off- another part of the experience picks up the slack. I was first alerted to ODO by my mother who had read about it in Westchester Magazine. My first thought was, okay it's yet another Italian spot in Westchester, but after one of my friends also talked it up I started to pay more attention. Since I hadn't seen my friend in a while, we thought coming to ODO was the perfect opportunity to catch up and check this new place out - so off we went. ODO sits on Main St in Tuckahoe - the restaurant has a small exterior which extended inside. This is not a big spot at all - it's narrow with maybe like 10 or so tables and bar seating towards the back. The interior is simply decorated - lots of wood tones everywhere with pops of decor and quirky art on the walls. The restaurant was also louder than I expected, but it kinda fit into the aesthetic - this is not a traditional red sauce Italian spot; it's more modern and focuses on Abruzzese cuisine. The menu is not large, but they have a good selection separated by small plates, starters, pasta, mains, and sides - additionally they had a few specials. We got drinks and I chose the Mona Lisa (Campari and pineapple juice) - it was smooth and refreshing. We then decided to start with three apps: the scarpetta (house bread), the bodega salad, and the palotte cacio pepe. The scarpetta was good - the bread had a light sprinkle of salt, and the vesta sauce it was paired with was a good complement without being too rich or overpowering. I really liked the bodega salad - our server described it as an Italian combo without the bread and that's exactly what it was - shreds of iceberg, meats and cheeses in a tasty dressing. I appreciated the fact that it was not too salty - something that could have easily happened given all the cold cuts. I wasn't a fan of the palotte cacio pepe - the texture didn't sit right with me and I didn't find the cheese in the middle to be as gooey as I would like; the sauce that it was topped with didn't provide much flavor either. I decided on pasta for my main, and went with the lumache which was paired with lobster, lemon, and oregano. I really liked the dish - the pasts was super al dente which I loved, and there was a generous portion of lobster incorporated into the dish. The lemon and oregano were subtle but just enough to add to the dish without overpowering it. Pasta is really an indulgence treat for me, and they definitely made spending my discretionary calories worth it. For dessert we split two of their selections: pizelle with Nutella and a blueberry budino. The pizelle were made like sandwiches with the Nutella in the middle. I love Nutella and I love pizelle, but sandwiching them made the pizelle a little soft - I like them nice and crispy (I still ate them of course ;-). The budino was fine too - the blueberries added a nice sweetness to the dish. Service was good - everyone we interacted with was really friendly, and all the food came out at a good pace. Overall, I had a great first experience at ODO - Italian restaurant competition is tough in Westchester, but they served creative dishes made with fresh ingredients. What a treat! I got to experience this restaurant on Saturday night and can't wait to go back! Our waitress, Maria, was a doll. She explained every entrée and appetizer on the menu and told us what the favorites were. We started with the Scarpetta appetizer And the speducc. The speducc was extremely tasty and the lamb was tender and flavorful. Now for the Scarpetta... it was an amazing focaccia with some char on the outside and this wonderful Buttery herbed sauce for dipping. Amazing! For entrées, we ordered the brasciole with gnocchi and the pasta Bolognese. The brasciole was tender and really delicious in a nice pool of homemade sauce... but the gnocchi were gorgeous pillows of perfection. Loved it! The Bolognese sauce was rich and delicious on top of beautiful triangular penne pasta. Really different and perfect. This meal was seriously amazing! The menu, while brief, offers an interesting array of what is best described as Mediterranean-inspired Italian fare. "What might that be", you ask? Well it is best described as different from traditional family-style Italian fare, but in a good way. Flavors are more Smokey and earthy; more akin to what is found in middle eastern/north African cuisine. It brings an interesting and refreshing spin to familiar dishes that should be experienced. I followed Up with an email after since it wasn't sitting right with me , never heard back and then I sent another. We were staying in the local hotel and decided to follow a suggestion and try this restaurant. ODO is a special place!! It has 30+ seats and specializes in Abruzzese food. I was reminded of Sunday mornings as a child. We tasted the Speducc (lamb on a stick), Scarpetta (house bread w vesta sauce), pasta alla norma, pork braciole w gnocci (best gnocci ever) and sorrel mousse which ended a beautiful mid-evening meal. This place is a GEM. Cozy spot inside, and often full, so book in advance. They have 6 seats at the bar near the kitchen, which is also a great spot for dining and watching the BOH staff work on your delicious dishes. Some favorites that are not to be missed, IMO, are the speducc (little cubes of lamb that are grilled on skewers sprinkled with flaky salt, and the aglio e olio.) It's almost impossible for me to try other things because these two dishes are so good. But the rest of the menu is fantastic, including the Cacio e pepe palotte, house-cured prosciutto, the Cotoletta (pounded, breaded, fried cutlet), scarpetta, and a fantastic steak. When making the reservation and putting a deposit of $60 down, I was excited to go to this restaurant for a friend's birthday. Unfortunately, our experience was not an entirely positive one. For starters, the restaurant did not serve soda, and the shrimp appetizer tasted like leftovers that were reheated. They did not serve bread before the meal, the server said it was an appetizer and needed to ordered, it's was $6. The server said that the meals could be shared between two people, which was not the case, excerpt for the chicken cutlet dish, which was a bigger portion. The eggplant lasagna was just decent. The braciole came with gnocchi, which were excellent, although it only came with six pieces. The bodega salad was a shareable portion, but had meat in it, so the vegetarian in the group couldn't share it with us. The branzino with arugula salad topped with toasted bread crumbs was good. The spaghetti with pesto sauce topped with toasted bread crumbs was good as well. The desserts are good, but very small. The pizelle with Nutella were good, as well as the berries and cream and pana cotta. Also, i found it odd that the restaurant did not have actual sugar for coffee, instead they offered liquid cane sugar. read more

When I called for a reservation, staff said reserving is highly recommended as the place is super popular, but when we arrived there were only a few diners and most tables empty. Our waitress was pleasant and clearly trained to push sales--we barely touched our entrees and she brought the dessert menu. So listen. I know Westchester Magazine started tooting this place's horn (cornetto, my Sicilians know what's up) and it's become the talk of the county, and like, I was dubious cause Westchester Magazine should really be called Pretentious Stick Up Its Ass Magazine, cause of, you know, the contents of the magazine. But this place is really good. 5 stars, in fact. Details are below. We dined there on a Friday (I know, shitmuncher day of the week) but at 5:15 (lit time to eat). Had a reservation, were seated promptly. Was empty when we first got there, but very quickly became VERY full. By the time we left, every table was taken and even the bar was full. I don't think I've ever see all the bar seats taken at an Italian restaurant before. This is because Italians know that wine is food, so you generally want to have a table to eat your food, which is wine. Trust me, I'm an expert on Italian culture. The space is nice - smaller than you might expect, but a bit hip - a little exposed brick here and there - without trying too hard to look hip. Photos from the 70s, presumably of Italians (maybe they were Jews, we sometimes look Italians that are allergic to vitamin D) lined the walls. Tables are a bit tight, but not uncomfortable. And I get it - you're opening up a new restaurant, you don't want to buy/rent some big ass building you may not be able to fill. Little kitchen too - open to air. Just one bathroom but it was clean. The staff was pleasant. As I said, we were seated promptly. The menu and specials were explained, wine was recommended, etc. No complaints here. The food was very, very, good. We had three appetizers or "antipasti", my Sicilians know what's up. The mozzarella was transcendent - soft, flavorful, beautifully salted. Made by the restaurant, ALLEGEDLY. The foccia with creamy butter looked quite beautiful - i dabbled in the butter, but couldn't have any foccia because I'm doing keto (I was too fat for my suit and had to rent a suit for my friend's wedding back in December so I have resolved to become less fat enough to wear my own suit), but my dining/life pardner said the foccia was very scrumptious. The hot oil peppers, which I know have an Italian name but I don't know it and I guess I could pull up the menu online but Imma just freestyle it were tasty as hell - the heat really builds on them - at first bite you're just like oooo this tasty and then after you're a minute you're like oh god Satan farted in my mouth but in a good way. For main meal, aka entree (my Sicilians know what's up), we shared the bone-in ribeye, which came with glazed carrots and a cheesey mashed potato as sides. I had to sit out the sides cause keto (i know, i hate talking about it too, but my abs are fucking shredded, my Sicilians know what's up). My parnder said they were very good but the restaurant is serving Abruzzo-style food and she's Abruzzoian so she's a bit suspect. The ribeye was very good - it's the best cut of steak, cause fatty and delicious. We ordered medium rare and I'd say this was where my one teeny-tiny complaint would be - I'd say it was closer to true rare. Parts were a bit under for my taste, but I took home the leftovers and they'll reheat just fine. Prices were largely fair - the only expensive item was the ribeye, but it was market price and they were upfront about it being such. Not a cheap restaurant, but I daresay an appropriately priced one. I'm just gonna say "my Sicilians know what's up" one more time, cause I'm enjoying it. Goodbye. read more

I recently held a private event at Odo and couldn't not be happier with EVERYTHING! The atmosphere, food, service, and the entire planning process was incredible. I will absolutely be hosting events there in the future, and will be going for dinner in between! Service: Maria and Nick are an incredible team. They worked with me to plan a menu that even included a new dish for them, and curated cocktails too. At the event, Maria was a natural and so intuitive with her help. She made sure everyone was taken care of with food, and made special moments of the event even more special (like playing "Here Comes The Sun" at the perfect time in a speech!) Food: DELICIOUS! Chef Nick made homemade mozzarella (and let us sample some before plating!) which was incredible. Another highlight was the Cacio e Pepe that was cooked in a cheese wheel! My favorite was the antipasto sampler - marinated vegetables, delicious cheeses, house made focaccia and house made prosciutto. It was devoured! I ate here last night and was very "under"whelmed. Our table ordered focaccia with dip ($12), a ham iceberg lettuce to share, 3 triangular pastas (cooked from dry pasta similar to penne $75) and one fish ($50). My three friends and I picked at our pasta and we had 3 alcoholic drinks. Our bill was $180. They charged a 7.5% service fee for not paying cash (not even giving us the option to pay cash). I love that there is a new Italian restaurant in town but I just went to Zero Otto Nove and at least for a similar price, I got to eat chicken parm, veal, calamari and linguini with seafood. This morning when I woke up, I felt that my group had overpaid too much for a can of sardines and 7 shrimp. I also got bumped twice by the waiter. read more

Absolutely amazing experience here. After just one time, this spot is definitely becoming one of my regular dinner choices. One of the coolest things about this place, is everything is market fresh so for the main courses, it is a different dish every day. Atmosphere/vibe is absolutely great. Cozy & cute, but edgy & trendy all at the same time. Service was unbelievable. Never had to ask twice, always checking in on us (never at an annoying rate). Have to recommend the Scarpetta. The bread is so airy and delicious, and the chef's sauce... just WOW. Palotte Cacio Uovo was also phenomenal. Speducc (lamb on a stick) was not only served so cute, but also tasted amazing. I had the gnocchi, which was homemade and tasted so soft and great, but the sauce wasn't thick enough so it didn't stick to the gnocchi. I probably wouldn't get this again unless the sauced thickened up. Melanzane Ala Forno was great, but could've used a little more sauce in my opinion. Dessert is limited, but after all the delicious apps and main courses, you don't even need it. Definitely recommend for any date night, gathering of some friends, or cozy bar hang out. Obsessed. This place is amazing!!! The food we got was delicious and the interior of the restaurant was perfect. Very dim lit and intimate, would be great for a first date. The service was good! However it was someone's birthday, and the servers strobed the lights & sang everytime this person was receiving a plate of food. It happened maybe 6 times during the course of our dinner. Cute but disruptive hahah. Definitely check them out!! read more
