Went for birthday meals only 2 tables in whole place took almost 2 hours to get our food the chicken Alfredo pasta was nasty the chicken bland. The Frances was like water and lemon and the brushetta did not look freshly made. Very disappointed. The bread was hard and the butter looked left out and than put back to reuse in the refrigerator. They were out of the dessert we wanted and the cheesecake slice was so small like one bite. Very sad from what I remember. read more

When I arrived at Augie's it was empty. I was early so I had a drink and read the menu. It all looked good. I decided on the salmon over rice with asparagus. My friends joined me and decided on spaghetti, Bolognese and the chicken and veal Parmesan. First came out the bread with the flatbreads. Then came the garlic bread and the salad. The salad was excellent I love salad. Then our main dishes came out, and the Bolognese was too salty, the fish chicken and veal were all overcooked. The gentleman that served us was very attentive and polite. I don't know if I would go back unless when I did go back I would say to them please don't overcook. We had dinner on Tuesday 05/20/25. I felt I required a P.H.D. to understand the menu/ordering procedure. Tuesday nights they offer a two for one deal where they provide an appetizer, meal, and dessert for 2 people for roughly $42, but the caveat is you have to order the same thing. If you want to order separate items, you can pay an extra $22. We all opted to get individual meals. The server asked, "Do you want a half portion or full portion?" When I asked what the difference was, he said, "You get a side dish with the full portion." That response was misleading. Three out of four of us ordered full portions, and they came with huge amounts that no server could realistically expect one individual to finish. They also came with exorbitant prices. The one person in our group who ordered the half portion got pasta with her meal, so a side dish WAS included. As far as quality goes, the meatballs were very tasty, but the chicken piccata was mediocre. The texture of the chicken was dry and not fresh tasting. It was nice getting together with our friends, but not worth traveling an hour to dine here. read more

Good for large groups? The bigger, the better at Augie's! For our group on a Saturday night, we were seated in the middle of the dining room. They're famous for their family-sized serving portions, so don't be put off by the prices because each dish can serve at least 2-3 people. Plus they have some really good daily specials. We started with 2 appetizers and followed with 3 entrees and was just enough for 7 people. Hmmm, maybe we should have gotten the Braised Short Ribs after all. Appetizers first off, we had Fried Calamari and Baked Stuffed Clams. The calamari was perfectly crispy fried and you know it's fresh when they serve the rings with my favorite part, the tentacles. I was looking forward to the Baked Stuffed Clams and ours seemed to be over done, as they were really dark. I was expecting a whole clam in each shell, but it's only chopped clams mixed in with the stuffing and stuffed back into the half shell. I'd skip these next time. On the other hand, the Linguine & White Clam Sauce was very good, with whole Little Neck Clams in shell and plenty of minced garlic. We also ordered the Veal Piccata with about 8 very flatly pounded scallopine slices sautéed in white wine & lemon with capers on a bed of spinach & artichokes. It is normally served as veal & chicken, but we requested just veal. Our favorite was from the daily specials, the Pappardelle with Wild Mushrooms, Shaved Grana Padano & Truffle Oil. The truffle oil gave it a very luxurious taste with plenty of mushrooms that went well with the shaved slices of cheese. After entrees, I spotted a dish of tiramisu go by that I leered at, but I was pretty full and that dessert will just have to wait for next time. Came here last night for dinner with friends. The food was great and service was attentive. While the portions are large, we ordered smart and didn't over do it. Great Italian restaurant with tons of pasta options! Everything is served family style. We ordered the Kitchen sink $34 which was pasta with chicken, sausage and shrimp! Sooo great! I'm writing another review since a few of mine disappeared. I have come to Our Italian Restaurant many times in the old location. I don't come as often as I would like in its Larchmont location, but the food is still wonderful as is the service. If you get one thing, get the baked stuffed clams. These are the best baked stuffed clams you will ever eat. You don't get 6 measly clams but huge clams on a delicious pool of garlic butter, herbs and oil, and about 14 of them. The bread and a dinner to share is terrific. Service is always attentive. Sunday dinner at mammas is a great deal. I like it when the sausage get a bit charred with their sauce. Not too many good red sauce Italian places remain; patronize the ones still out there. read more

The food was okay, family style but fresh Italian/American dishes. What was not okay is the service, alcoholic drinks and the fact that they DO NOT follow CDC and NY state COVID guidelines. In a rather large space they kept on putting families with lots of kids right next to our table, no distance in between no dividers .. NOTHING. One of the worst Italian food I have ever had. As the other reviews said yes the portions are a good amount and the service was very good as well. But what really counts is the taste of the food and this place seemed like it was cooked by someone who has no clue of Italian food. I had the calamari which looked so pale I thought it was uncooked. It had to be frozen, the breading was perfectly coated and tasted like it came from a box. The chicken Parmesan's breading had an odd taste to it not the correct seasoning and it turned to mush when I scraped it off. My friend had the chicken Marsala and it had thick onion slices, I've never seen it served that way. For starters, the servers are very friendly and attentive, the restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated, and the family style food is delicious. The portions are huge and we always enjoy what we order. We have often ordered trays of chicken francese or chicken parmesan and they are always a big hit. It's a treat to stop in for the accordion player on Fridays and Saturdays. What can I say about Augie's ? Wow, Just...Wow. I've been going since they've been in their old spot, making the trip from the wilds of Queens. They are completely totally and utterly worth the trip. Food? Amazing. Portion Size? Astonishing. Service? Outstanding. You can even sit outside when the weather is good! You can simply NOT leave Augie's hungry, take it from me-I'm a guy of great appetite, and because of this you will be the fortunate owner of one of their famous 'Augie's Doggie Bags'-You always have food to bring home. My personal favorite is Sunday night's 'Dinner at Mamma's', an unbeatable deal. All this amazingly delicious goodness DOES come at a price, however.
