Went to restaurant for lunch and what I ordered the food was not acceptable. The eggplant collating appetizer was not a very nice size and certainly my main dish I have seen better. I didn't say anything since I don't like to make a scene. But, when I did say something to the waiter he said the portions are bigger at dinner. We'll not for anything I have had better food at othe restaurants. The stuffed filled didn't look good. I should have known when the restaurant was empty. I basically wanted to go there because of the reputation of the chef owner Emilio. Well, when I called the restaurant and said they should do something about the bill they said I would have to talk to him and hexwasn't around he was doing something else.bso I sent a message on their form. He finally responded saying I wasn't eating a pizzeria, this was a fine dining restaurant and he said the wait staff said I finished everything on my plate, they were left a 25% tip. We'll, I have had better quality food. He also said we dine on quality linens he also chages for that. We'll I am not eating the linens. I know they do this in italy. Since I just, made the reservations and was not paying the bill I didn't say much. But, he was very irate and not a good business man. I just kept calm and told him no problem that things can be resolved in other ways. I know prices and have had many different types of food at other restaurants. Amazing dinner tonight. I only wish I'd taken photos. I had the Chicken Scarpariello and it was perfect--great portion size, cooked beautifully. I swapped out the broccoli and potatoes for ziti with red sauce, and it was exactly what I wanted. The staff was incredibly attentive, especially with how much water I drink. Horrible experience and meal. We were sat right away but then mostly ignored. It took 30 minutes for a waiter to take our order and another 45 minutes to get our food. This is a restaurant to go to if you want to have a conversation with your table mates and not have to yell to be heard. The tables are nicely spaced apart and the seating is comfortable. The owner, Jeff, is very accommodating. They will practically make any dish you desire as long as they have the ingredients. They always have a few specials and most are really good. I would recommend any chicken or veal dish. The chicken is always mouth-watering tender. For an appetizer, order the fried zucchini, not on the menu, but really outstanding. Whole branzino is another winner. Bonus, parking easy and right outside. Also great for large parities as they have a large room in the back. Highly recommend. read more

Overpriced, mediocre quality food. The service here is very nice and professional. We had a great time talking to the owner about Italy and his homeland, Albania. The dining rooms are both beautiful, and so are the bathrooms. The food started off strong with warm bread and an interesting olive oil dip that tasted nice. For the main course, I got the lobster ravioli special. It came covered in an absolutely flavorless white sauce and some cut-up shrimp. The filling of the ravioli also had no flavor. Someone else in my party got the veal pizzaiolo, which was just veal chops in a tomato and mushroom sauce. It in no sense resembled real veal pizzaiolo. I only liked the chicken francese, which someone else got. That tasted pretty good. It really didn't help that each dish was over $20 for such bad food. read more

This neighborhood Italian restaurant has been at this location since 2014. There are two rooms that created a fairly large restaurant with standard decor- not offensive but not inspiring. The lighting in the rear dining room changed several times during the evening which was weird. There is ample parking as the location is within a strip mall in Ardsley. The menu offered traditional Italian fare plus specials with fairly moderate prices such as $25 for a chicken dish (welcome to 2024...). Service is cordial if not polished and there is an old school maitre'D who checks in on parties to make sure they are ok. There was a substantial wait to receive our starters because according to the service team "they make the baked clams fresh which takes time". We cajoled the wait staff to at least allow us to have our salads and they magically appeared. The hot items soon followed and they were ok. Entrees were good if not great. The desserts might have been the highlight of the meal- a wide selection of Italian favorites all served with delicious home made whipped cream. It all adds up to a decent Italian restaurant. If I lived within 5 minutes of La Catena it might be in my restaurant rotation- but I don't think I would travel for an experience that is readily available elsewhere. read more

Just returned home from a birthday party held at La Catena. The food here is simply Fabulous! Hard to choose from the wonderful pasta and entree choices. The starters included their melt-in-your-mouth lightly Fried Calamari, Stuffed Mushrooms, and cold antipasto with their thick crusted artisan Italian Bread - YUM! I chose the Rigatoni with their wonderfully fragrant Basil Marinara, and Chicken Paisano (chunks of moist, tender white meat chicken, vinegar red peppers, thin sliced scalloped potatoes all in a delicious, light white wine lemon sauce)! Perfectly prepared broccoli in garlic sauce and lightly seasoned roasted potatoes complimented the entree. Their house made scrumptious Napoleon Cake set with birthday candles, served with a creamy cappuccino - It Don't Get Better Than This! A comfortable, local Italian restaurant with a thoroughly professional and courteous staff, and excellent food. Caesar salad prepared at the table is very good. On this occasion, we had calamari fra diavolo, and spaghetti pescatore, the latter with nice fresh clams and mussels. The Italian cheesecake for dessert was outstanding, moist, creamy, and not too heavy. I've eaten here multiple times, both for lunch and dinner - it's always been a good experience. My friend ordered the brasciole over pasta which was tender and delicious. Food is excellent. Waiters are very involved in tableside service, which involve large cheese wheels and cooking pasta within. That definitely took president as the restaurant got busier. It was a weeknight, and not that busy when we arrived. We seem to have been forgotten after the dessert course. Nobody ever came over and asked if we needed anything, drinks, water etc. the food ranked a five star but I can't give it because we were very neglected towards the end of our meal. We had to flag someone down after waiting 25 minutes for the check to arrive. Suggestion, pay attention to all customers not just the ones ordering tableside service. A great Italian Restaurant in Westchester County. We came from over the bridge and it was well worth the ride. We were a large party of 11 and service with such a large party was impeccable from the bartender making us cocktails to the waitstaff. Really on their game! Try the cheese wheel pasta. It was really good mix of cheese and paparadelle with mushrooms mixed in. Burratta and calamari for starters were delicious. Branzino, Chicken Francese, Eggplant Parm exceptional! Veggies served family style. Large portions, I was able to take my Chicken home for another meal. I have been a consistent diner at the restaurant for the past 5years, I had dinner there on Wednesday 1/25/23 which will be my last dinner there!!! We ordered a caesar sald for us to share, which we frequently do. Upon receiving the check, i saw that I was charged $17.95 for the salad. I inquire to the charge asd the salad is only $12.00 on the Menu and was advised that there is a $5.95 charge for sharing, which appeared on the right page of the menu on the very bottom is small letters. I had a entree of baked ravioli which is $20.00 and a caesar salad which cost me $17.95, this is not right and not how you treat your good customers, therefore, I will never return to the restaurant!!! read more

I've lived in NYC most of my life...and even in that town, I've had few instances where I was inspired enough to rave about the food. Eggplant Parm is among my most favorite foods. I've been spoiled by restaurants like Parm, Carbone, I Sodi, L'Artusi...etc. Enter La Catena, a hidden gem in, of all places, Ardsley, NY. This understated throwback to old school Italian eateries is, astonishingly, comparable to my most favorite NYC haunts. Their Eggplant Parmesan is reminiscent of Gordon Ramsey's celebrated recipe...possibly better. I've been traveling from Long Island to Ardsley for almost a year and stop at La Catena whenever I'm itching for some great eggplant Parm....and don't get me started on their Bronzino...the presentation, the taste, the texture...just forking exceptional. (Anyone who says otherwise about either of these dishes probably has culinary experience limited to frozen dinners and diner food). And, to make the experience even better, the service is what you would expect in old Italy. You're almost always greeted by the owner himself, Jeff, whose sole mission, it seems, is to make sure you're happy and satisfied. The man is like an energizer bunny; hopping from table to table to bar to table making sure everyone is having a good time and happy with their order. And the entire experience is enhanced by an excellent background music playlist that seems to never play the same song twice, no matter how many time you cost. Loud enough to hear and low enough to allow you to chat with whomever you're with. If you're ever in Ardsley, NY, check the spot out....call ahead though. Not sure what to say, we are local folks and had heard good things about La Catena but the service on a recent Saturday night (party of four and we had reservations) was poor: bad communication among waitstaff leading to having to request items multiple times Salads were small but fresh and beautifully dressed Four entrees came out at the same time (good) and all were tepid/lukewarm (bad). Fettuccine side dish was gummy and the bread not worth eating BUT a side of roasted potatoes and broccoli served family style showed what this kitchen could do. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, and at the right temperature. Tiramisu was excellent and they are generous on their pours of wine by the glass. It's a roomy dining room where you can talk to your dining companions without shouting, or struggling to hear. From that side dish alone, I know the kitchen can do better. Will try to return in the next few weeks for a second try. Getting the kitchen and front of the house to be in synch is an art and anyone can have a bad night. read more

The service was a little slow and not as attentive but understandably so as it was Christmas Eve and there was a table with 25 people. La Catena is a good old school Italian restaurant. They have all the typical main dishes you would expect from any Italian restaurant in the area. I went to La Catena a few weeks ago to celebrate my mother's birthday with my family. It's nice, but nothing over the top. It's definitely very popular and crowded, just not my favorite place. The one thing I didn't like was that they wheel the desserts around on a cart throughout the entire restaurant to show you what they have to offer. It's a great idea, but I don't feel like it's the most sanitary way to go about showing what you have to offer. I think it's a great old school Italian restaurant, and a decent place to check out if you're in the area. read more

Seriously overrated. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking available, is the 'old school' italian restaurant. My expectations were high, or above average for this place but i walked away hungry and disappointed. I got the shrimp scampi which was served on a layer of oil, had zero taste... i used my husband's vodka sauce to add flavot to the shrimp and even that wasnt even that great. Shrimp scampi came with a side dish of pasta, a dish even smaller then the dish for the oil for the bread. the sauce on the pasta was beyond watered down i couldn't even tell what falvor it was trying to be. I tried to soak as much of my meal in lemon juice as possible just to get any flavor into the dish. The bread is good, and the oil they have for it is also great which left me with high expectations for the meal to come. Service was just ok, nothing spectacular. The entree was a complete disappointment and the dessert was good. So i moslty filled up on cheese cake and flourless chocolate cake. Wont be back. And this isnt the first meal ive been disappointed in from here. Time to move on and stop giving them chances. read more

The bread, salad, dressing are all very fresh and I'm loving their chicken scarpiello, fettuccini and the Pollo alla Paesana. So pleased with the food. Very nice staff as well. This was my first time trying out this restaurant! My family who lives here have been raving about it for years. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the food, the presentation of the food, and the service that was provided. We ordered an entire table of food, I personally ordered the Pollo alla Catena Breast of chicken stuffed with shrimp, prosciutto and mozzarella, sautéed in white wine, lemon, green peas and shallots, which wasn't my first choice, I really wanted to try their special Bronzino tonight; however, they were out, and I was thoroughly pleased with my order anyhow. We had a bunch of different appetizers, including bruschetta, a freshly made charcuterie board with different cuts of cheese, salami, and olives, a bunch of different salads, and more. Everything was delicious! Oh and their desert was phenomenal as well! They actually made the dessert right in front of us, it's like dinner and a show! Also, my grandfather accidentally knocked his entire glass of wine over on the table & they brought him a new glass no questions asked! On top of that they gave us complimentary drinks to wrap up the night. As we were walking out, I had a nice chat with the owner and even got to see some pictures of his beautiful family! I went here with my family to celebrate my graduation. The waiters and waitresses almost felt non-existent. Whenever we needed help with something there was always a waiter walking straight passed us as if they had somewhere better to be, or something else more important to attend. Whenever we asked for an extra drink or even just extra grades cheese, it took almost 20 minutes for that just to come to the table. The food was subpar, definitely not what i would expect from a restaurant with the aesthetic they have. The lighting was dimmed to the point to where i could barely see my food or the disappointed look on my godson's face when he took a bite into a hard piece of pasta. Which leads to my second complaint, the ravioli was completely undercooked. some of them were hard which means they cook them from a frozen package, which surprised me due to the fact that they have such a nice restaurant so you would think they would make their raviolis fresh for the day. I ordered a mozzarella caprese for my girlfriend. She is allergic to a few food items so we try and stay clear of certain items on the menu when ordering food or dining out. One specific and major food allergy she has is cucumbers, even to the touch, she can have a reaction. So we ordered the mozzarella caprese thinking it had no cucumbers on it after reading the ingredients listed below 3 times just to be safe. We also told the waiter that she wanted the oil and vinegar on the side. The waiter then brings out the dish drenched with oil and vinegar and loaded with cucumbers. I then tell the waiter that she is allergic to cucumbers and his response was "it said it on the menu" i then replied with "it was not said on the menu" and he began to argue with me saying how it was said on the menu. After he finally agrees to take the dish back, we then go on the online menu to look at the dish's ingredients. It did not say it included cucumbers as well as the way it didn't say it included it on the in-hand menu. The waiter comes back out with her dish and it has no cucumbers on it and he said they remade it. It still had a bunch of oil and vinegar all over it, but we decided not to say anything about it due to the look he was giving us after he brought back the food. We weren't sure if he was the type of person to give us a loogie in our food for sending it back so we thought it was best to just leave it that way and take it home to give to someone else. My last complaint is that one of my cousins is just shy under 1 year old and he was taking his pasta and dropping it on the floor (as any 1 year old would do) and one of the waiters from another table came over and picked one of the pieces up and threw it out with a disgusting look on his face knowing it came from a baby. I'm still not sure how this place is still in business or can even afford to be in the location it's in. Maybe due to how beautiful the decor is, but other than that, the service and the food was horrendous. Customer beware. read more

What an incredible meal at La Catena. I went with my mother who sang the praises of this restaurant. I am originally from Ardsley, but now live in Northern Virginia. You cannot get decent Italian food there. I went with an old favorite, the linguine with clams and was floored by the size of the portion, the size of the clams, and how magnificent it was. I will happily come "home" more often if it means more dinners here!!! read more

Thought I would stop in for lunch today and I have to say bad experience !! 12:30 prime time for lunch no one on there place was dark, waiter was nice sat me down at a table and then the fruit flies began .. ordered Tortellini en Brodo and a bowl came out with 6 tortellini and broth that was taste less nothing else... Fruit flies were in the soup. Bottom line I left and the waiter was trying to give excuses...that they were flooded and is closing blah blah if your not able to safety feed people shut down until your ready. Another fantastic meal at La Catena. My dad requested going, though he moved 35 minutes away, because he loves the Caesar Salad, and I obliged. The restaurant did not disappoint. The salad was prepared table-side and was delicious. We enjoyed the warm bread with special olive oil for dipping. Dad had the Branzino which was roasted, then deboned table-side, and finished with a sauce. He loved it! He requested angel hair pasta with garlic and olive oil (which I will enjoy for lunch tomorrow). I had the Chicken Francese (which came perfectly pounded thin) accompanied by roasted potatoes and string beans cooked in garlic and oil. All was delicious. Almost a year ago on a rainy July day, I pulled into this strip mall and spotted this place. Alone on a business trip, I chose this place and was not disappointed. Quiet old world charm with service to match. No step in my four course meal was left out. The food was authentic and delicious. I felt welcome as a "table for one" and stayed until the downpour had ended. The owner rolled a cart over after dessert and treated me to a Sambuca - perfect. So my grandparents have been talking about this place for months and I mostly wrote it off to it being convenient to them since it's down the street. My assumption proved to be correct because this place seems meh. As my Bronx-Italian grandma feels the need to constantly point out, the owners are not Italian but from Montenegro. Regardless she says their "gravy" is still very good. I don't like tomato sauce, so what the hell do I know. The place is faux-bougey inside. Waiters dressed up way too fancy for a strip mall restaurant and everyone seems sort of snooty and over eager to impress. My obnoxious family quickly tested their patience and these people were pretty easy to crack; things got snippy. The food was average. We were a large group and none of us were impressed with what we ate. With an abundance of good Italian restaurants in Westchester I see no reason to eat here. Unless you are my grandparents, and you can no longer manage to travel more than a mile for a restaurant experience. read more
