I came in to be greeted by many technicians, a little overwhelming, for me. but the place was super clean and lowkey. it's not noisy with chatter or equipment. I was able to get sat down right away with Nani. she was super friendly and gentle with my manicure, giving detail to grinding down my nails, application, shape and length and color preference. washing my hands before/during the session was a nice refresher and also a first(!) with cleanliness of this business. I was offered cuticle oil after which i'm grateful that got brought up. hours after, my fingers don't feel irritated from the grinding like they usually do at places that overdo it. I was super happy with my manicure. i'm a bit more on the quiet side of conversation so I hope to come back and chat with the techs about life, it was quite entertaining hearing neighboring drama with other techs and clients. :))

Sue took me in immediately. Everyone was really welcoming and greeted me when I came in. Sue and I talked the entire time because I'm not from the area. She was very professional, fast, efficient, and did an amazing job on my nails! She noticed I had cat eye already on my nails, so she asked if I wanted to do it again, and when I said no, she didn't try pushing any designs or up-charges on me. She let me pick my color and was super nice when I was a little indecisive about the first set of colors that I saw. She was quick to show me more colors. We had a great conversation, and when I'm back in the area, I'll definitely come back! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

The salon was always clean. But here are the reasons why I had to find a new nail salon. 1. My daughter would get her nails done from time to time. She always wanted to use my person who happen to be the owner. She liked that she paid attention to detail and liked how her craft with nails was done. So when I would make appointments for her or she would make them for herself we always asked for the owner by name. She was always placed on the schedule for her. But, when we arrived 85% of the time my daughter was pushed onto someone else. That in time upset her and me. It was as if it was because she was 15-17 at the time her requests were not important. Money is money no matter how old the person is. I felt like she was judged for her age. I taught her to tip well, and pay etc. 2. I would average my nails to be done every 10-12 days. I get anxious and will start to pick it they are growing out too much etc, or if the cuticles were getting to be out of shape. Things were fine, but after almost a year of that the owner told me she just couldn't do that anymore. She said she really needs me to do 14 days. Personally I felt like that was not harming anyone or myself to have it done every 10-12 days. There is more I could say, but I'm just not going to. My nail tech now said she understands why I want them done when I did. She also stated that it is my choice and I pay for them to be done which is my choice. 3. I would pay with a card a good portion of the time. But, one day the owner saw that ai had cash in my wallet. Her question, "Heather, why don't you pay in cash?" I replied because I chose to use my card. My cash is used for other things. Either way how I pay is how I pay. This was strike three for me.'I did not appreciate being questioned about my cash. Overall what started out good just got worse and I just wasn't enjoying myself there anymore. When I went in to cancel my appointments there was a nail tech who helped me and she was so polite and apologized but completely understood what I was feeling. It was as if she saw it and it's been done to others.

I didn't originally get my nails done here, I had they done in Norfolk because I was in that area although I used to live right across the street from this shop in Yorktown. The Norfolk salon did okay but they were very rough. The ladies at Odyssey Nails do such an amazing job and pay attention to every detail giving them a nice, natural look. Not only that, they were extremely patient with me when I was being indecisive about what color I wanted because I would like it in the bottle and didn't care for it once she painted it onto one nail. They also do great custom paint jobs, no stencils needed. I had a nail chip a couple days after getting them done, went back and had it fixed, no questions asked, free of charge. This place it's under new management, they had remodeled the whole entire place, it's look very nice and relaxing. I got a Hot Stone Pedicure here, and it's AMAZING. I would highly recommends to others that like the heats. The technician working on me it's so wonderful, she's very thorough on my cuticles, taken her time and give a great massage. And the important thing it's that she speak excellent english. As you know, communication it's very important, I've been to other nail salons before, and I always have a hard time to communicate. I have been coming to Odyssey for almost 6 months now and will not go anywhere else! Everyone is so nice! They talk to you and get to know you, they do any amazing job every time and know what is best for your nails! They take their time and give you exactly what you want! See attached photo. i have never been there before so I think it's only fair to ask questions such as how long is the facial etc. I must've triggered some sort of insecurity because she resorted to saying how long she's been doing this which didn't address my question. She became defensive and told me that I should go with whomever I typically go to. Funny thing is I never even said that I was interested in booking an appointment as I was just calling to inquire just like I did with other places in Williamsburg. With that type of customer service over the phone, I wouldn't even bother seeing how it would be like dealing with her in person. I even told her I'm from out of town and only going to Williamsburg for vacation. With that attitude I don't know how you would compete against other places. I rarely publish reviews but felt compelled to write one to help out other consumers who are contemplating whether to try this place out or not. I don't think this person should be in business if you don't know how to help customers. What makes certain businesses last longer than others is when they can provide an overall positive experience from start to end. You really should reassess if you're in the right service industry given its health/wellness-related. I support small facial salons because they tend to be more passionate about what they do and it shows in how they talk about their services. I've been getting facials all over as I travel on vacation almost every month and typically not the same place and I always get a facial or massage in places I've never been to as I like to come home relaxed - after all that's why people go on vacation. I'm not sure why this individual would feel the need to dictate what I do on my time and where I should go for my facial. Response to owner's comment: That is not accurate that I would ask if you would screw up my face. Why in the world would anyone ask that?That doesn't even make sense. I simply was asking what the difference was between the clarifying facial vs the pure results facial, what product you use and if you included extractions. The fact that you said: I'm not at the shop to remember my products" is concerning given how much experience you claim to have and how you say you customize it according to the individual. You couldn't even name one brand! I ask because I prefer organic products and because you couldn't tell me what product you use then what makes you think I would've booked with you to even reject me? My comment was that unlike massages where its likely can't rare to cause any permanent damage in comparison to facials. We only have one face and if someone messes it up due to the product they use or being too hard when doing extractions; this can be irreversible. I explained this was why I was asking questions so I can feel comfortable and understand what your services entail and what product you used, but I never accused you nor directed that towards you or ever questioned your experience. I was surprised she reacted the way she did. The fact that you are being defensive again and turning this around on me speaks the kind of person you are. If you read my review if I wanted to bash you I probably would have said: It's 2025 perhaps if you invested on designing a site that is professional and user friendly then people wouldn't have to call for clarification and ask questions. I should've not even bothered to inquire as soon as I saw how plain your site looked and on top of that it's not even secure. No one has provided a review on your business in Yelp since 2020! For someone who has over 20 years being an esthetician and to only have 3 testimonials on their website? If you are truly as good as you claim to be I would think you'd have more customers raving about you. Even If your facial was free I wouldn't bother going there. There are plenty of places in Williamsburg with owners who are kind and helpful. Perhaps you can learn from Karina from Ardent Skincare. I asked her the same questions I asked you on the same day but see the difference between how she responded to me versus how you did in my attached video. Notice how she didn't need to mention how long she's been an esthetician because it's irrelevant. Besides who would ever tell a potential customer that they suck? I truly hope people see my review. As you can see I've never posted one ever but this person is appalling and people deserve to know her true colors. By the way most business owners appreciate candid feedback.
