I highly recommend this program for any dog owner! Amy K. from Off Leash K9 Training in Maryland worked with our male American pitbull that has extreme aggression issues towards other dogs to the point that his original owner has refused to walk him for years. I went for the lessons as opposed to the Board & Train option because I wanted to learn how to work with our dog myself and solve any future issues he might have. Amy was truly amazing. After 4 lessons in basic obedience training, she confronted our dog's aggression and achieved more in 30min than the dog's owner had in 8 years. She taught me how to communicate with our dog and help him through every situation. This worked like a charm when he met other dogs on our walks. Previously, I had tried positive reinforcement and treats, but the cold truth is that upon seeing other dogs our pitbull would fall into such an aggression frenzy that he didn't care about treats and was impossible to communicate with. The e-collar helped me get his attention in these moments. It sends an electrical impulse from a scale of 0 to 100. At low settings under 10, it works like a tense unit and stimulates muscles so that the dog just feels a light vibration or a gentle prod as a reminder to pay attention. You can try it on your arm and see that it is barely noticeable. From 10 to 20, the e-collar send a little sting like from a bug bite that is usually enough to snap any dog out of tunnel vision. From 20-30, it's like the sting from an electric fence. It is unpleasant and stops whatever the dog is doing immediately but it isn't harmful. Although, a dog has a layer of fur between the electrodes and its skin, I would never go above 30 as it becomes an electroshock collar that amounts to abuse if used regularly. The only improvement I would suggest to the manufacturers of the e-collar is to set the maximum at 30-40 and not go beyond that as not all owners will be using this device responsibly. As it turns out, it's not necessary to use the e-collar all that much as our dog learned early on to snap out of the barking and lunging and look at me, at which point I could ask for an appropriate behaviour. This worked wonderfully and saved us both a lot of dangerous and painful struggle in the middle of the road. Although, I was uncomfortable with using the e-collar at first. I realised that it sends a very short and directed signal that corrects any dangerous behaviour immediately, which is a lot less painful to the dog than years of yanking on its collar or his harness to stop him from lunging at other dogs. The vast majority of the time, I use the collar at a setting under 5 so that it is no more intense than me tapping on his backside with my index finger to reinforce a "sit". I also realised that I do not have to use the e-collar signals more than a few times, after which our dog already responds to my voice commands. At the end of the day, what really convinced me that I am doing the right thing is that our dog LOVED the training. He would bark, run and jump into the back of the car eager to go every time we took him to training, whereby the only time he would go in the car is to visit the Off Leash K9 HQ. He would eagerly forget his door training and drag me through the entrance at the facility and joyfully greet the trainer. He also became even more eager to go on walks with me and didn't mind the e-collar at all. In contrast, he had always put up a fight with the harness and the muzzle. So overall, I agree with all other 5-star reviews here that this training change our life. I can now enjoy walking our dog and he loves to go out with me. PHENOMENAL! I cannot say enough great things about Off Leash K9 Training Maryland! From the very beginning I knew this is what we'd been looking for. To start, I received a response to my email inquiry from the owner, Jennifer, within a few hours. I had a wonderful conversation with Jackie, the receptionist, who helped me set up our Basic and Advanced training sessions and assured me we could definitely work on "heel" because Albert was a major leash puller. We also wanted to focus on recall training. We did that and much more with the help of the incredible trainers at OLK9. I also love how the prices were listed up front and there was no up charging for anything (which Jennifer assured me about in our initial email conversation- she did warn me about their retail selection:) We have a few new balls and a cool new leash). The facility is just GORGEOUS. It's clear time, attention, and practicality all went into the creation and planning of the space. In addition to an amazing business, the trainers are wonderful! We worked with three trainers: Alex, Amy, and Craig. I love how they all explained everything to my husband and I in a way that was practical and useful. They were all so kind and it is clear everyone at OLK9 LOVES all dogs. All dogs, no matter what the temperament. Albert is a highly excitable 80lb bundle of energy who was not a polite greeter by any means. So, for one lesson we focused on greetings with Alex and the help of Sabrina, one of the receptionists. And I don't know what magical "Heel" dust Amy sprinkled on him but our walks have totally transformed. I greatly appreciated that the four Beginner lessons cover the same topic, no matter what trainer you have. It made it so nice knowing there was a clear plan in place and that we were able to have different trainers but cover the same program! We had the majority of our lessons with Craig. He is absolutely phenomenal! Before OLK9 my husband was semi-interested in training, but it was mostly me (and Albert of course). From the beginning of our first session, with Craig, he completely transformed. Craig taught us the how, why, when, and so much more about each command and part of the process. He clearly knows so much about what he does and presents it in such a down to earth way. His passion for dog training is inspiring. He was also very complimentary of Albert, and the things we'd taught him so far. It was so empowering! He has guided us through each step of the way and was so quick to respond when I've had questions throughout the week. Our expectations were by far exceeded! After each lesson we got into the car and just went on and on about how AMAZING it was and how we couldn't wait to work on our homework and come back the next week. It only got better with each and every lesson! One of the biggest things my husband said was "I love how they just don't tell you what you're doing wrong"- which had been one of our past experiences. This wasn't our first dog training rodeo but I wish it had been! We just completed our last Advanced lesson and really can't wait to come back for more. It's been the highlight of our weekends and has totally transformed our relationship with Albert and our little party of 3. Like I said in the beginning, I can't say enough great things. I can't say enough about Off Leash K9 Training and especially our trainer Lauren. I adopted a beagle rescue (we named Ziggy) and he was definitely not what I was expecting. Being a former owner of 3 beagles I still wasn't prepared for this dog's behavior. When we got him, he made little if any emotional connection with us - rarely looked us in the eye and didn't care if we petted him etc., he has a very strong hunting drive and constantly chases our cat, to the point that the cat hides in our basement when Ziggy is in the house. For the first time in my life I thought about returning a rescue - something I have never done. I was really at my wits end when a friend recommended Off Leash. I didn't know what to expect but knew I had to try something. We initially signed up for the Basic Obedience package but soon realized Ziggy really needed some intense work. We decided to sign him up for the 2 Week Board and Train....enter Lauren the beagle whisperer! First of all - Lauren kept Ziggy kenneled at her home which was a huge relief for me as I didn't want him to be alone at night. In the two weeks with Lauren, Ziggy learned several commands very well. The most amazing thing that Ziggy learned was to walk "Off leash" by Lauren's side. He would go on command and stop when she stopped. It was truly amazing watching his progress via photos and videos that Lauren posted throughout the week. After the two weeks we went to pick him up and he was actually happy to see us. We had our own training session to learn how to correctly use the eCollar with commands. When we got him back home we found that he needs practice, practice and more practice. He's quite stubborn and at first acted like he had broken out of jail but soon learned that things were the same. With the exception of his actions with our cat, he has become a very loving family dog. He now seeks attention and actually gets quite jealous if we show our other two dog's affection before showing it to him. We have been successful with the basic commands but if he's on a scent sometimes it is still difficult to get him to listen. We have learned that we have to be consistent with him because he "forgets" his manners if we let him. Not long after he came home we had another dog go through knee surgery. Her recovery has taken much time and attention and we slacked off on Ziggy's discipline. He quickly realized that he wasn't receiving continual reinforcement and his behavior declined. It is interesting to see how well he really does know the commands when we "restart". He's still a very stubborn boy and probably always will be, but thanks to Off Leash training, we have to tools to make things better. We haven't solved the cat problem yet except to keep them separate. Hopefully one day that will change and we can all be together in one room without bedlam. Many thanks to Lauren - I don't think we would still have Ziggy if she hadn't been such a diligent instructor. She was painstakingly patient while training Ziggy and we so appreciate her manner with him and also with us. K9 Off Leash personnel are all professionals and it's obvious they all love what they do. 2-week board and train with Rob/Chris I have 2 dogs both around 5 years of age Gracie (German Shepherd mix) and Tucker (German short haired pointer). Both are great dogs and a huge part of my family. But with an almost 2-year-old daughter and another child due in June we needed help. It was hard for us to do anything with them and our daughter at the same time due to the fact one person could hardly control both dogs. Before our daughter, we did everything with the dogs. We have had both dogs back for around a week now and have been continuing the training that was put in place by Rob/Chris. I have even started working on a new command of through (comes between my legs and sits) with tucker last night and he is picking it up quick I feel they may have worked him a bit on it as fast as he started doing it last night. We have all been going for walks every night without any issues. While both dogs still need work/ command reinforcement the change in just 2 weeks of training with Rob/Chris is amazing money well spent I'd do it again without a second thought. I have no concerns about hanging out in the front yard playing with my daughter and the dogs being out with us off leash anymore. We are going camping in May and are thinking about taking the dogs with us. before the training the thought would have never crossed my mind. If we ever get another dog I will most certainly be sending them to see either Rob or Chris. And would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for a jump start or help. But I would say keep in mind that if you think you won't have to work with them once you get them back you are wrong. what they do is provide you with a foundation a very strong one I might add but it is up to you to reinforce the training. When they say, the dog will test you once they get home they aren't lying they will. But if you do what the trainers tell you the dogs will quickly learn that you are in command. I will also say that if you are looking at using them but have concerns about how your dogs are treated where they will live for the 2 weeks etc. have no fears on that, it was a fear of mine as well when sending the dogs away. When 2 dogs have been a part of your life for 5 years it is hard/weird to send them away. You will get constant picture and video updates during the 2 weeks, if you have any questions during the training just send an email they respond fast. My dogs also loved Rob and Chris when we showed up to pick up the dogs we could hardly pull them away from the trainers. If a dog was mistreated no way they would show the person, the affection my dogs showed them. read more

The story begins with a boy and his dog. I adopted Joe from the local humane society. He was around 8 months old, a mixed breed handsome young man. I was seeking companionship, and adventure with my new canine partner. An adventure I received. In the beginning it was not all sunshine and dog fur. 60 pounds turned to 75 pounds quickly overnight. Mighty Joe destroyed everything in his path. 2 wallets, 3 boots, 1 shoe, 2 window blinds, a bracelet and whole vacuum! The new love palace aka the master bed, had succumbed to vicious carving from joe's magnificent jaws. My visions of hiking trips, and explorations quickly turned to a bloody gruesome nightmare. Joe's inner interior designer came out, as he painted the flooring with feces and urine. I exhausted all methods to correct these horrendous behaviors. Leash pulling became a daily high intensity robust workout for myself. I was even dragged approximately 20 ft by my loving beast. Now mind you I'm a stunning 6ft, 180 pound stud. The Epiphany of masculinity if you will. But I was broken by this point. In all seriousness, I have more love for Joe then I can put into words. But I was at my breaking point. I felt like finding him a new home that could fit his needs may be the best option. Through a mutual friend I was put in contact with Off Leash k9 training. We discussed the issues throughly. I was recommended the use of a E-collar. I was appalled! I could never use such a barbaric device on my fur baby! Let me tell you, I was ignorant. I met with in my opinion the best k9 trainers on the east coast. I was fully educated on how the E-collar works. I was given the opportunity to feel the simple light pulse on myself before ever using the device on Joe. You see the E-collar is simply another tool to communicate with your dog, no different then any other type of collar or harness. Regardless of popular stigmatism, it is a wonderful and positive tool when used correctly. With the continued guidance and training with this Organization Joe is a new man. Using the E-collar I'm able to communicate with Joe in a manner he can understand. I have zero issues with my furry friend now. He is able to heel perfectly on and off leash, his recall skills are spot on. I will forever be grateful for the priceless education I received from off leash k9 training. I honestly don't think there are enough good things that I can say about Off Leash K9 overall, their training program, or their staff. Since my husband Matt and I picked up our Goldendoodle boy, Camden, we knew that we wanted him to get a good foundation of training. Matt is super thorough in all of his decisions, so I knew when he found OLK9, this was going to be a great choice. We took Camden there initially around 3 months old for the puppy lessons and he loved it! Mike was excellent in making sure that we were comfortable in the commands and also was great at working with Camden. I was seriously impressed with our quick Camden picked up on everything. In our puppy lessons, he learned "come," "sit," "place," "down," "paw," and "heel." Although this was a good foundation for Cam, we wanted to allow him the ability to be more confident and for us to allow him off leash. We just finished up with the two-week board and train program and I feel like we have the best dog ever; I mean we did before, but he's much more attentive now. Lauren was our trainer and she is the best! She gave us around 10 photos and a video each day that Camden was at the program. It was incredible to see him progressing each day. Our biggest issues with Camden going into the program, at 10 months, were mainly pulling on his leash, now responding to commands on the first time, and being overly excited on his leash when he saw other humans, other dogs, leaves blowing in the wind, etc. After the 2-week program, Camden had mastered all of the above commands, responding very quickly to what Lauren said. He also was walking right alongside her in very busy city areas and continually stuck right with her. I loved how Lauren worked with Cam, asking him to continually do more advanced tasks, placing from a distance, far call to load into the car, etc. Overall, my husband and I are so pleased with OLK9 and where Cam is today in terms of obedience. The program is an investment, but one I would make with any dog I will ever have in the future. read more

I am thrilled! I own a 9-month-old, very sensible, standard poodle, Jackson. I wanted him to be extremely well mannered. He did not really have any vices. However, he was a puppy and a tiny bit stubborn. I know from past experiences with dogs that good training leads to the kind of communication and relationship with your dog that fosters attention and trust. This is what I found with Off Leash K9. The program intensifies the bond between owner and dog. I opted for 2-week board & train which is expensive, but it is probably all you are ever going to need to train your dog the right way. Admittedly, I was nervous to spend this kind of money however, thanks to awesome trainer Lauren, my Jackson came home with, "perfect" manners. The collar creates a vibration not a shock. I tried the collar on my arm to test the severity of the vibration and it is not abusive in any way. I think the collar breaks through the human/dog communication barrier; suddenly your dog clearly understands what you are asking! The most important part of the training for me is that Jackson now walks beautifully in perfect heel, speeding up and slowing down as necessary. Before OLK9 Jackson was not a leash puller however, I was so tired of correcting his heel every 20 steps or so; it impeded our enjoyment of the walk. Jackson now walks like a gentleman, sits at open doors and waits to be told to enter or exit. Jackson drops toys and places when asked. Jackson comes when his name is called... every time. He quickly and easily enters and exits the car. OLK9 DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. Lauren is the consummate professional. She truly enjoys her job and it shows in how the dogs respond to her. We contacted Jen and Scott because we wanted to be able to enjoy our dogs without being attached to them constantly with a leash. A leash not only puts a damper on the dog's fun, but it is no fun as the human to be pulled down a steep, rocky mountain trail by a much faster and more sure-footed dog! We vacation in Maine every summer, and spend most of it swimming and hiking in the mountains. My dream was to be able to do these things with my dogs off-leash without fear of them running off and getting lost in the Appalachian mountains. Since one of my dogs is a beagle mix who follows his nose relentlessly and ignores us when we call, I didn't believe this would be possible. Jen told me it would. This summer, we hiked and swam and went for a run every day in Maine without leashes! It was amazing. I've never had so much fun with my dogs, and I know they had the time of their lives bounding through the woods and sniffing out critters and swimming in the lakes. We chose the basic lesson package, and did just a couple of hour-long lessons with each dog. Then we went home and worked with them every day, just like they advised. This training really works, as long as you are willing to put in a little bit of time and effort yourself working with the dog. We still work a little every day on basic commands like heel and come, just when we are out on walks. They run with me every morning at a heel, and many people have remarked on what good leash manners they have. Most days we go for an off-leash walk around the parks and ball fields and I know they will come back to me when I call them. Even when rabbits or deer have run out of the woods in front of them, I have been able to call them back. I would highly recommend Scott and Jen's program. It has given us control, and the dogs the freedom to run and explore. It was definitely worth the investment. read more

Our experience through Off Leash K9 Training Maryland training was life changing for our family. Our 6 year old hound mix, Finley, was exhibiting very aggressive and protective behaviors towards strangers. Due to Finley's behaviors, we will filled with anxiety and fear whenever we took him in public situations or whenever someone would visit our home. Our trainer, Craig, was the absolute BEST trainer and completely exceeded our expectations. Craig really focused on the cause of Finley's behaviors and educated us on the best ways to address each situation. We completed the day camp program and were amazed at thr progress Finley made each day. Craig made sure to put Finley in situations that were hard for us to address and taught us as well as Finley the best ways to approach each scenario. After completing the day camp program, our lives have completely changed. Now, we are able to walk Finley around in public without the fear and anxiety that would normally be attached to those situations. We feel confident in our ability to teach Finley and ensure that he and others are safe. This may sound overboard but it is completely honest, Craig changed our lives for the better. Craig is the kindness person who genuinely wants to help animals. He is an absolute expert with dog training, and gives 100% into everything he does. It is hard trusting someone to take care of your dog, but I would trust Craig with my dog's life. I cannot praise Craig enough, he truly is an amazing human being. In addition to taking care of our pup, each day he would send out countless photos and videos to keep us up on training techniques and show us how much fun they were having throughout the day. I can't even put into words how AMAZING our experience was with Craig at Off Leash K9. We enrolled our 10 month old Pit Bull Dakota in their Day Camp Program and are SO happy with the results! In a little under a week we were able to see changes in Dakota's behavior daily and were set up with the tools by the end of the four days that we needed to feel comfortable and confident moving forward continuing this training on our own. Craig is extremely knowledgable and passionate about his job, really prioritizing setting a solid foundation for Dakota's training so we are able to see continued, realistic, sustainable results. It was clear from the first time we met Craig that he genuinely cared about Dakota, us understanding the training program, and how we could integrate the training concepts into our daily lives to continue to build upon what he learned in the program. Each day he would upload progress videos and pictures that kept us informed as to what they had worked on that day. These videos were GREAT because they showed us, in a realistic setting, various exercises Craig was doing with Dakota and are now there for us to refer to as we continue training on our own. Craig and Dakota took all sorts of field trips to parks, stores, etc. to build upon his training in a variety of "real life" environments. He kept a great line of communication with us throughout the entire program and was very flexible when it came to working with my husband and my crazy schedules. At our final recap lesson he was beyond patient with all of my questions and really did a fantastic job at setting us up to have continued success going forward. Scott and Jen's boarding Off Leash K9, Maryland, boarding program was worth every dollar. I am the owner of a 4 year old German rottweiler named Prince. My Rottie was always a friendly dog who got along with other animals until the age of 2 when he was attacked by a mastiff. After his run-in with the mastiff, he no longer tolerated other animals and became very territorial over his food and yard. I researched a variety of board and train businesses in the Washington D.C. area in an effort to break him of his resource guarding and provide him with some obedience so that I feel more comfortable taking him with me into public. After speaking with Scott and Jen, they agreed to take him in for board and train. Scott and Jen provided regular updates, pictures, and videos of Prince throughout his training. Upon picking Prince up, Scott and Jen provided me with in depth instructions to continue Prince's training. They were able to break him of his resource guarding and his intolerance of other animals as well as a number of obedience commands which he responds to immediately. Today I am able to walk prince around Washington D.C, and no longer need to worry about Prince scaring people when passing other animals. Scott and Jen have given me back the opportunity to take my best friend with me wherever I go without worry of what I may run into. Their board and train program has allowed me to develop a stronger relationship with my dog as I continue to work with him and build on the high level of obedience they have instilled into him. I only wish I had invested into this training when I bought Prince as a poppy, as that would have saved me so much time and stress and allowed me to take him with me placed more often. I cannot say enough enough great things about K9 Off Leash Training/Jessup, MD & our trainer extraordinaire: Craig! We signed up for the 5-day Day Camp (4 full days). First--Our 11 month old pocket Beagle, Louie came to us Christmas morning 2019. The Pandemic has been tough, and the bad puppy habits have added a layer of stress I was beginning to think might get the better of my already loose grip on sanity. Until there was Craig...Louie's Trainer. He proved himself to be equal parts dog, husband, teenage girl, twin boy, and, well... yeah--Mom-whisperer. In 5 days, he kinda changed our family life/dynamic with how well he worked with ALL of us teaching both patience and communication. Louie is the same Sweet Louie...but, as Craig put it, he's now a gentleman with manners and etiquette . I offered to triple the price for each of the kids...sadly, there's some kind of noncompete paws when it comes to crossing over to his pup's families! Dog lawyers!!! Craig is one of the kindest, most sincere and genuinely calm-inspiring people I've met and we didn't know just how lucky we were to receive the call when someone canceled last minute and Louie was offered a spot on his calendar! He sent us literally hundreds of photos and video diaries via Dropbox along the way for fun so we could watch the progress, understand what Louie was learning, and keep track of their whereabouts. Honestly, we got sooo much more than we could have hoped for out of the entire experience. Louie was loved and cared for & so were we! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...with ZERO reservations. Worth every penny. OLK9MD is an amazing place to get any of your dogs trained here. In mid-December my mother took our family dog Quinn (German Shepard, 2yrs old) to OLK9MD in Jessup. We had Lauren H. as our trainer for Quinn. Quinn did the 2 week board and training; during the 2 weeks Lauren kept us posted everyday with amazing pictures and videos of Quinn's progress. When we picked her up we couldn't believe how well behaved Quinn was, aside from the greet after not seeing the owner for 2 weeks (but that's normal). We had a 2 hour session with Lauren for us to learn how to keep up with Quinn's training. Now for my dog, Zoey (Siberian Husky, age 2.7yrs), her transformation was incredible. As a classic Siberian Husky, Zoey was hyper and stubborn, very stubborn. Zoey also had the 2 week board and training program. I had the program done with Lauren again, since she was amazing with Quinn. I never had any doubt with her and Zoey. She kept me update with Zoey's progress and performed the 2 hour session on pick up day. Overall, my OLK9 Training experience was fantastic. I'm really glad we had Lauren H. as our trainer. With her having 3 pets of her own and many other animals, I knew it was the right move to make. Lauren is sweet and passionate about the training. We started taking our yellow lab, Hannah, to training at OffLeashK9 in Jessup this summer when she was 8 months old. We had already taught her some basic commands at home, and she had attended a puppy kindergarten elsewhere. But she was still pulling badly when walking on leash and was inconsistent in responding to recalls. Plus her greetings when visitors arrived was still chaotic. Our first lesson was with Kim who did a beautiful job of perfecting Hannah's recall and teaching us methods for correcting some troublesome behaviors at home. Practicing at home with her everyday was delightful. Due to a change in our schedule, we began seeing Ashley for the rest of our lessons. She was outstanding, and Hannah quickly learned to Place, Heel, and stay in Extended Downs with distractions. She is an absolute delight to take on walks now - she walks perfectly at my side with no pulling, even without the leash. I "place" her in the house whenever I want her sitting politely as guests are entering. Using basic techniques I learned from Ashley, I am working on more advanced behaviors (like Coming to Heel from a distance, and dropping into a Down when in motion). While it is such a delight having a well-behaved dog to enjoy, I also consider much of this training to be lifesaving. I don't live in fear of my dog running off toward dangerous traffic and not responding quickly to my commands. I am always recommending OffLeashK9 training to others. Dino was, after our basic and aggressive dog sessions, identified as a velcro dog. He is an 8 year old, 93lb hound mix and was VERY difficult to walk due to fear aggression, anxiety, and the inability to identify that pulling on the leash/halti/harness/choker/spike collar was uncomfortable for him. He was adopted after being turned in be 2 separate families, and then my son (when he moved). When he was younger I had to physically tackle and lay on top of him while other people and dogs walked past us. It took me YEARS to get him where I could at least walk him with a Halti (in itself a miracle!) and keep him on a tight leash when passing other dogs and people. He went after our Trainer on the first day when she tried to get him to submit to her, and we decided I would do all the training/corrections while under their direct supervision. Why is he a velcro dog? We found that he would take the highest energy correction and gag himself on an anchored leash to try to get back to me when we were working on the remote sit command. When he gets anxious, he struggles to get to me and stays right against my leg when he gets to me under stressful situations - like velcro. We are working on remote sit/stay slowly (he does it now) in our post-training phase, but they set me up wonderfully. We walk and hike off-leash regularly and he is MUCH happier, tail up, sniffing, exploring and comes back immediately when I call. I barely have to use the e-collar (he always wears it when we're out) to remind him. The training has been miraculous. read more

We could not be happier with the training our boy Blu received with Mike, Scott, and Jennifer at OLK9 Maryland. Blu is a super energetic Bluetick Coonhound/German Shorthair Pointer mix, and having rescued him at 10 months and tried our best for 2 years, we had reached the point were none of our prior experience with pets helped us teach him not to run off, not to pull on a leash or chase our cats, not to counter surf or jump on us, or to consistently mind our basic obedience commands. We love Blu and just needed help channeling his fabulous personality. Mike, Jennifer and Scott were absolutely up to the challenge, and understood intuitively how to train a hound like Blu. They encouraged us, answered all our questions, and genuinely enjoyed Blu as an individual as well. It is not an exaggeration to say that our lives are transformed. We put in the work putting Blu through Basic and Advanced training with OLK9, hoping to be able to enjoy a hike in the woods or a walk in the neighborhood with Blu off leash. We have now achieved that goal and we can now walk, hike, or run with Blu off leash and he stays reliably by our side. I wish we had signed up when we first brought Blu home, but we are ever grateful that we can now take him almost anywhere and he will be steady. My girl Ada had been exhibiting some friendly-frustrated dog aggression that I wanted to get under control before it became too much to handle or something bad happened. I was recommended to check out OLK9, and I am so grateful that I chose them! We took the 8-week dog aggression classes with dog-trainer Alex and she was amazing in helping teach the basics with the E-collar and instill confidence in my dog and myself. Her patience and guidance really helped me in understanding where my dog's behavior was stemming from and how to best counteract Ada's outbursts. Our last session with Alex was at the end of January. Since then, and a whole lot of work later, I have seen major improvements in Ada's behavior around dogs and other animals that she just wants to say hi to but can't seem to figure out how to do it nicely. Specifically, Ada seemed to react the most aggressively towards little dogs. Recently, we were on a walk when a small Frenchie not on a leash ran up to us to say hi. Ada did have a reaction, low growling, and warning barks, but I was quickly able to get her attention on me and redirect her attention to walking by my side while the Frenchie's owner wrangled her dog in. Before OLK9, she would have been lunging at the leash and snarling at the dog and I would not have been able to regain control of her until the dog was out of sight. From the beginning I had a great experience speaking with Jen. She helped me to understand that what I thought about the bad behaviors that our puppy had was normal German Shepherd behavior and her company could help us. When we met with our trainer Danny we instantly felt comfortable with her. We were impressed with how patient she was with Zeva. When we went to pick Zeva up from her 2 week Board and Train, we were pleasantly surprised with what Danny had taught her. When we brought her home it was great because she obeyed all of the commands Danny taught her/us. Unfortunately, it's been a hit or miss for us with the eCollar because of Zeva's long hair, however, when she misbehaves she instantly corrects herself when she sees the remote. I just wish we didn't have such a difficult time placing the ecollar on her. It's was funny when we played the compilation video, and Zeva heard Danny's voice she stopped playing and stood in the middle of the floor and started turning her head from side to side -- as if saying I know that voice, but where is she??? If you're wondering if this is a good program, I'm here to tell you that it is. I don't think you will be disappointed. And, they send videos and pictures just about everyday to show you how your dog is progressing. We couldn't wait to get them, and I felt so proud of Zeva when I saw them! read more

We've had such a positive experience at Off Leash K9 with our German Shepherd puppy, Luna. Craig is an incredibly compassionate and patient trainer, not only with our dog, but with us. Luna is an extremely strong, high energy working breed and our attempts at using treat training and similar methods were simply no match for our girl! Craig immediately alleviated any anxieties or misconceptions we had in our heads about electronic collar training and educated us about proper use. With each lesson, we were stunned (flabbergasted, really!) to see how quickly Luna took to the commands and training with proper handling and instruction.
