I purchased an expensive new larger format printer online from Office Depot. I spent weeks researching the model I wanted and finally figured out the best one for our needs and found it in stock at this Office Depot and it was on sale. I selected curbside pick up and went to pick it up as soon as it was ready. I followed the link provided in the email to request curbside and waited...and waited...and waited. Unsure if it was working, I tried to call. Busy signal. For several minutes. I had just gotten over Covid and, though in the clear with my test, was still trying to be conscientious just in case and didn't particularly want to go inside but after waiting 15 minutes it looked like I needed to do so. I masked up, and went inside. Pick up wasn't particularly pleasant but I got what I needed and went home. I unpacked the printer and, during the setup process, realized it had already been used. The ink had been installed (it's an ecotank so you install liquid directly into the canisters) and I wasn't sure how much had already been used (It's not cheap!). The printer was fairly expensive so I was disappointed that I had been sold either a return or a floor model without being told it was refurbished. I looked up what I should do and the internet told me that you should not buy a refurbished printer because they're so sensitive that it's easy to be damaged. I decided I didn't want to keep it so I packed the huge thing back up and went to back to return it. They were not exactly friendly when I explained what happened but didn't argue when I tried to exchange it. They had issues with my emailed receipts and I had to advocate for getting the original sale price since the sale was over. It was frustrating to say the least. I checked before I left the parking lot to make sure it was a brand new box and made my way home and finally set it up with no additional problems. But whew! What a journey! read more

I use this in two ways: on line order pick up and or in store pick ups I've had two glitches where print order not to my liking and they fixed it (redone it). Apparently OfficeMax and Office Depot have now merged, also, but this one is going by OfficeMax. So apparently this is now OfficeMax, just FYI. My boyfriend and I were in the Canton area yesterday looking for an office chair for him - IKEA really didn't have many options, and the new GW store across the street from it didn't either, so we ended up here. Right now they're doing a special where you get $8 off when you pay $7.99 for a 2-year protection plan, which is a decent deal (basically free). However, the chairs are definitely overpriced ... the cheapest "good/nice" (aka comfortable) chair we found was like $149, and most were like $200-400. So we ended up not buying anything there. I tried signing up for email deals/signing up for their email list also but unfortunately the 25% off coupon they sent did not cover furniture (and only covered a few categories). read more

The staff here are super friendly! From the time we entered the door from check out we had to run into at least three staff working and every single time, they spoke and wanted to make sure we were able to find what we were looking for. Talk about great and friendly service this is it! The manager should give out shining stars or bonuses because you feel special when walking into this store, we will make that special trip just to get office items directly from this store because of the staff here! read more

They had a decent assortment of toner from mid range to higher price. The one we wanted was over $100 for the Brother printer and that was for black toner too. Service was quick and easy. read more

We walked in on a Monday in desperate need of a desk. Unfortunately it was a bad day already. I had just found out that a dear friend and coworker had died due to coronavirus. The whole office was sent to work from home. It was overwhelming, sad and scary. I fortunately had two negative tests and was symptom free as a result of it all but it was awful at any rate. I needed to get set up at home but my 15 year old ikea desk was so rickety that just trying to set up my stuff caused the keyboard slide out drawer to collapse not just once but twice. So frustrating. I went online and checked out selection. They said they had stock available in store and I really wanted to get a visual on the desks. We drove over with completely serious intent. First off, they lie. There were only a handful of desks and almost all were hugely overpriced. There was only one feasible option. I hemmed and hawed and the salesman who had greeted us walked off. We had to go to the front to ask for help once my husband convinced me to actually buy the one affordable desk, pointing out it was on sale. They sent back a woman who could not have been less helpful. Asking to purchase the desk her response was to study her phone like device and inform us they did not have it in stock at all. When we offered to buy the floor model she let us know that if it is in stock anywhere else she cannot sell the floor model. That's it. No further information. We inquire as to what desks they do have or may have in stock. We ask where we can obtain the desk. Nada. She was literally just staring at her device and was not helping in any fashion. I let her know how desperate I was to purchase and nothing. Finally out of sheer lack of anything else To say I inquired that perhaps she did not want us to purchase a desk or that perhaps they did not have anything in our price range to purchase. Nothing. No response other than to tell me I'm wrong. I explain my situation and no concrete offer of assistance at all. We walked out. Never again. read more

If you're like I am and remember the days of Office Depot, you won't find the same high-level of customer service at Officemax, especially since both companies merged a few years ago. In fact, you stand a better chance of seeing a UFO, having lunch with Elvis (who decided to come out of hiding), and winning the lottery before you will find store associate to help you at this location. I can honestly say I felt sorry for the one girl who came out of the back of the store pushing a cart, who was immediately swarmed by a dozen customers looking for merchandise, faster than rock star is mobbed by a bunch of groupies. When I finally found the envelopes and mailing labels I wanted, the selection was very sparse to say the least. Worse yet, when I got up to the checkout counter, I asked the clerk a few questions about their envelopes, and he said, "Hell, I have no idea, I just work here. You can look it up on our Web site and find out for yourself." What kind of reply was that? He was very rude, and slow to say the least and it really shows a lack of respect for the customers. Likewise, I think this all stems from very poor training, as the staff has that "deer in the headlights" look when you ask them a question about their products. What's even more upsetting, is that two days later I was at WalMart with a friend, and I found the same labels from Avery at a fraction of the cost of what they were in Officemax. While I'm not a big fan of WalMart, I will go there from now on to buy mailing labels, as their store clerk was able to answer my questions adequately, and take me right to where the labels were located at. read more

The inventory is sparse. The staff is rude and appears untrained. Prices are high for paper and other basics. Copying and printing services, when the machines are working, are expensive and of poor quality. I only go here if I absolutely need ink and every other place is closed. Today their centerpiece was colored tissue paper with cartoon characters on them. Also freatured a whole wall of calendars for $14.99 in September. read more

Office Max.... Well what can I say? Seven reviews already. Two star rating. My two cents follows. This location is situated on the south side of Ford road if one is coming from the highway (I275) Ford and Liley. One cannot see the sign till one is right upon the store front, for the sign sits back into the parking lot and your field of vision is covered by a large bush/tree. Once you are in their lot, well its smooth sailing as long as you have SUV with bigger tires. Watch out for the tender potholes and ruts. Park your vehicle and go inside. The place is setup nice. On your left is the print center on your right are the checkout counters. Easy enough to find most things, specially if you walk around a bit. I needed help to find 2 items. My biggest problem with this visit was, and I told that to the associate when he finally approached me. Some days when I come in here to browse and kill time there are nine different associates asking me if I need help, to the point of frustration. But the day I needed help, no one around. Maybe right after Memorial day they are running on a skeleton crew. Well I finally got all I came in for. Now it was time to pay up and leave. One dude on the register ringing up, behind me a line, and there are 3 associates hanging around. Maybe on break. read more

Yesterday me and my husband went here to get something laminated and first we waited 30 min to be helped there was three customers patiently waiting to be helped. The employee did look over us a few times but didn't come over to help us at the print station . So I went over there and said it would be nice to get some customer service. They said they would come over there. Then like 15 min later the employee came over and started helping us. There was no other customers other than us three. I got waited on second which was fair because one customer was ahead of me. Any how I only had one thing to get laminated and he said they are backed up with customers and it wouldn't get done until tomorrow. My husband said really they don't look busy at all and then employee got snippy with us so then my husband went to service desk and told the manager about how rude he was. I will never come back there again. They have horrible customer service! We ended up going to Novi and got the best customer service and they laminated the one poster I had without any issues and were very pleasant! Now I will be traveling to Novi for the best customer service: even though I live in Canton. I will not shop there again! read more

I don't know why I keep going here other than its close to my home. I have hit-or-miss luck here with more misses. In general, I do not find the staff to be helpful, mostly because they're not available. For example, yesterday I was shopping for large filing cabinets and no one was around that part of the store the entire time I was back there. I made enough noise opening and closing the metal drawers so out think someone would come to the back of the store. Nope. So I walk all the way up front, ask for assistance with the cabinets, then head all the way back to the back. As I was walking down the center aisle a man popped out from the aisle by the cabinets. Was he snoozing back there? Hiding behind the employee only door? I couldn't figure how he could get there so quickly without having been back there all along. Must have been too busy to help a shopping customer. In addition, I like it when you ask for help and someone walks you to where the item is you want. But you won't get that here. You'll get an aisle number followed by on the left/right and that's it. Or if someone is in the aisle and you ask for something they'll just say "well if you don't see it, we don't have it.". Huh? Can't you look and help me? Maybe you have more in stock? Another pet peeve of mine. It turns out I was looking for a very specific item while shopping for my filing cabinets and they didn't have that either. I left empty handed. Then I got home, called the Staples store that is out of my way, and asked them for the same item. Not only did they look it up for me, the Staples staff went and personally looked on the shelves to make certain they had what I wanted before I made the 20 minute drive. And they held it for me at the customer service desk. Then when I arrived at the Staples store they were super friendly and I went and thanked the lady who had helped me. What a pleasure. OK so I live just down the street from here and when you need something that you feel you can only get from an office store, this would seem to be the likely place to go, right? I was looking for some desk sets to put on top of my desk. You know those little wire things that you can put papers in and little doo-hickies and junk? A little storage spot for paper clips and pens and tape...things such as this. Well, first of all, it was not busy in there at all. There were several workers but they were all scattered around aimlessly doing nothing at all except for trying to avoid anyone asking them a question! There was no one to ask the prices of some things that I needed and I could not find where they were hiding. There weren't even price tags on half of the merchandise! What is up with that?? It was so amusing (not) to see that this one young person started walking toward an employee who was standing around doing absolutely nothing; then when the employee saw the person getting closer, he took off as if he was on a mission and just went to the back part of the store and stood there. It was pretty interesting behavior to watch. I don't know, I think I'll just order my next print cartridges from Epson online, at least I know ahead of time that they won't be talking with me...LOL...but they are at least polite online! read more

When I returned I was still experiencing problems so I turned around and asked Allyson for help. She came right over and managed to make it work on her first attempt. They charge $1.75 a page to fax. The fax machine is from the 80's. They have issues every time I fax something. This is the second time in a row I get to spend an hour with very unhappy workers. Never an offer for a discount due the equipment malfunction and inconvenience. I try so hard to be patient, but it's really ridiculous. I get to stand at the counter and overhear them bad talk the other frustrated customers as they leave. So lovely. read more

WOW, what a great experience. I had a problem with a new laptop I bought my son for Christmas. They made it very easy to exchange the laptop and even helped me set it up. It was awesome and they made me feel like I matter to them. I rarely post but this was such a great and easy experience, I had to let others know. Went here to purchase a couple basic items and the staff was very pleasant. The first encounter I had was with an employee that let me know producer information about the product I was browsing. The second encounter was with another very friendly Employee who asked me now I was doing and we shared a few laughs about the random items in the clearance section. The cashier was also very friendly, asked me if I found everything okay and made a joke about me wearing shorts out in the cold. The print depart has the worst service. They rarely acknowledge your presence, are understaffed, and there is always a long wait (even if only one person is in front of you). The lady in hijab is rude and incompetent and most of the men are rude as well. The other woman that works there is the only decent employee they have. It is not uncommon for them to lose online orders or forget to print them. They also often fail to store documents in secure locations. I truly wish there was a better store nearby so I could avoid shopping here. read more

Officemax should be ashamed for taking advantage of students and hard working parents and charging outrageous prices for binders and other school supplies. My daughter just started high school this year and received her material list on the first day of school. I went to Officemax to buy four, one inch binders and they were charging approximately $9.00 PER BINDER. I would have paid over $36.00 for four binders. Really? I immediately walked out and went over to Walgreens where I found good quality, one inch binders on sale for less than a dollar each. I was able to buy five binders for half the cost of one binder at Officemax. I will never shop at Officemax again after seeing such price gouging. read more
