I chose this location simply because of location, location, location! When running errands, it is always a bonus to have businesses in the same vicinity to save on gas and time. This location is in a small plaza right by the traffic circle where 14 Mile Road, Northwestern Highway and Orchard Lake Road. It is surrounded by several restaurants and stores. This is a good place for office supplies because they are always nicely stocked. Great minds think alike because I was met in the parking lot by a girlfriend going in for supplies. She insisted I go back in with her. I purchased colored Sharpies for my personal calendar to distinguish different categories. She was purchasing portable file totes for her and her mother to organize their important papers. After walking out of Staples because of the loud and obnoxious music that couldn't be adjusted by the clerks (they claimed it was controlled by corporate), we went to Office Depot. Not only was the sales staff helpful, friendly and accommodating, but the music played quietly in the background. However, they assured us that if it was too disruptive, they would make an adjustment. The level of professionalism and concern was greatly appreciated. We found the items we were looking for, and were well on our way in a reasonable amount of time. read more

Came here on Sunday. Arrived at 5:45PM. Needed a black ink cartridge for my printer and needed a hanging kit for my file cabinet's bottom drawer. Headed to the ink cartridges. Couldn't find it and then eventually an employee came over and helped me. He found what I needed and then I asked him about the file cabinet bars. He walked me to the aisle and pointed out to me what they had, and then he just stood there. I wanted him to leave so I could check out the kit and decide whether it's what I needed and would be worth purchasing in peace. So I told him thank you and that's all I needed, so he'd walk away. He did. Thankfully. I decided the kit would work and the directions seemed easy enough to maneuver so I grabbed it and browsed some aisles. This is where the 1 star rating comes into play. I'm standing in the main aisle, trying to look up the store's hours. It was 6:04PM and there was no PA announcement that they were closing/closed, so I assumed they closed at 7. Right at that point an employee came up to me - older, gray haired man (doesn't really narrow it down) - and asked if I needed any help. I told him no. He said, "Ok cause we wanna wrap it up" and motioned "wrapping up" with his hand. Immediately put off! So I asked him what time they closed and he told me, "We've been closed!" I told him I didn't know I thought maybe they closed at 7 since there was no announcement. He said "We've been closed for *looks at watch* 7 minutes now!" I was pretty furious at this point and considered putting everything back & leaving, but I really needed the ink cartridge and I didn't wanna escalate the situation. I could definitely see this guy saying something to me if I ended up leaving with nothing! He rings me up, enters my rewards number, I pay, and he tells me to "Have a good day, enjoy your holiday." I told him to do the same and he followed up with, "I will as soon as I get out of here." What?!?! Seriously?!?! I wanted to drop all kinds of obscenities on him, but I bit my tongue and just walked out after he handed me my receipt. Rude! And that's why I'll never go back to this location and will take my business to the Staples across the street! read more

So friendly and professional! I had a gazillion questions about printing a flyer. Kevin was very knowledgeable and patient. He also did a super job on the documents. The gentleman at the checkout Jeffrey was also very personable. I will definitely support this location in the futur read more

We visited yesterday to look at office furniture and purchase tax software. Wow. Quite possibly the worst customer service I've ever seen in my life. They did not have the tax software we needed in inventory. My husband asked an associate when or if they would get some more, and she shrugged and grunted. That was it. I tried to ask a different associate questions about some desk systems and she looked right past me and LITERALLY walked away from me while I was talking to her. I don't allow my seven-year-old treat people like that. We then went to a competitor who happily helped us and answered our questions politely and kindly. I provide excellent customer service at my job, and I know it is a two-way street. It is hard to provide good customer service to rude and crabby customers, but it must be done. However, my husband and I were polite and friendly with these associates and never gave them any reason to be so blatantly rude to us. We won't be back to OfficeMax on 14 mile. I will drive extra time to a competitor in order to avoid the rudeness and indifference that was displayed at this location. read more

I tried to ship a package and I was there for 20 minutes and they still could not figure out how to print a shipping label. Idiots.

I hate this place. The staff is always attitudey and standoffish. I went to return some unopened labels once and they were like "Are you sure you got it here? It's not ringing up in our system." I'm like yes, I'm 100% positive. I even went to the shelf to get the exact item and show them. They made this whole big deal for nothing, like come on people! I'm not trying to pull one over on you for a $10 item. Another time I went to return some blank checks. It said "Works perfectly with QuickBooks!" on the outside. Well, it does not work perfectly with QuickBooks. You cannot print onto blank checks (no banking info, business name, etc.) with QuickBooks. It HAPPENED to come with "Free Software" but I didn't need it because I already had QuickBooks and the manager comes over and said they cannot accept a return on opened software. I'm like, are you kidding me? I didn't buy it for the software, I bought it for the checks. I didn't even use one of the 500 checks. I just wanted to A) Get my money back, and B) Let them know that maybe they shouldn't carry an item with such misleading package. He eventually let me have a "store credit" and took it back, but I shouldn't have to plead my case like the People's Court, if something is wrong, and I have a valid reason, and I didn't use it, don't give me a hard time. Customer service is the heart of every business. Take care of your customers and the rest will fall in place. Too many bad experiences for me... That's why I boldly go to Staples. read more
