I stopped in to pick up an item I'd purchased on-line. There is a sign right at the front of the store with a button to press to pick up online orders, so I pressed the button, and waited, and waited, and waited some more. All the time, there was one cashier, and one other employee stocking shelves. After roughly ten minutes, the cashier, who'd looked directly at me many times already, asked me if I needed help. I told her I pressed the button to pick up an online order, and told me the button doesn't work. Why she decided to wait a full ten minutes to tell me this is beyond me, but she then collected my information, and radioed to a coworker to bring me my item. The other employee fetched my item (a very large office laser printer), and wheeled it out to my car for me. In the box, it was too big to fit into my car. She said they'd be happy to hold it for me until I came back with a bigger vehicle, and I said I'd just unbox it and put it in my car that way. All the while, she seemed apprehensive, and in a hurry to get back into the store. She told me they'd need the box if I had to return it, so I said I'd collapse the box and take it with me. She then told me to "keep a close eye on it", as she hurriedly scooted back toward the store. I had no idea what she was getting at, and she must have seen my confusion and added, "...because of the clientele", suggesting that the location was in a seedy area. I got the printer and box packed into my car, and got it home safely. The printer's been fine, but had I known the location was so bad, and that the service would have been so bad, I'd never have selected this as the pickup location. read more

I took an important printing project to Office Depot - it was a creative project I put together for my elderly mom for Mother's Day. The associate that helped me asked very good questions to help me bring the project to life. She was even willing to be innovative to make it all work and come to life. When I came to pick up the project, it had elements I hadn't even asked for that made it even better, and it looked AMAZING! I visit this store a lot, with three kids and tons of volunteer stuff. I've been coming here for years. The staff is always pleasant and they try to be helpful. Today they earned my business all over again. Popped in because we had to use the copy center for an eagle project copying/scanning situation. The store was well signed that masks were required. They wiped counters and keyboards down between clients and were exercising immense patience. But my favorite-is they were providing masks to people who didn't bring their own. It wasn't an ask-it was a situation of "We need you to put this on" and I loved it! Thank you, all of you, for making it safer to shop. read more

The sales consultant/cashier accused my wife of bringing in years old merchandise for an exchange. This young man made a hell of an assumption and offended my wife by asking if this item was the same item bought with the receipt. He didn't even look to see if they had another box of the same item in stock. His colleague had to step in to finish the transaction. So yeah I got home and set up my new Time Machine I bought at Office Depot when I realized I had THREE TB more than I paid for; they gave me a 4TB one rather than the 1TB I was paying clearance for. o_o I called them ready to return it but it was their mistake and they said it was okay. When I give reviews, I start out giving people 5 stars, but each time I find something NEGATIVE, minus a star but I'm giving that extra star because the girls in the printing department always treat me with respect, and satisfied with the service they give me. The stars goes out for them, but the other department, deserve NO STAR from me! I went to show them a defective tape from my Kroy labeler (see photo on profile). Brother brand is the only one that can fit Kroy, but somewhere in the middle, the tape now has black ribbons glued to my label, leaving me with half of the reel not printing. . . . and Depot only stock 1/2". Mine is 3/8", and the person helping me says 'it is NOT THEIR FAULT the tape was defective'. I knew that! I was ready to buy the twin package, but shouldn't I get one @ least a discount? It was NOT MY FAULT either, that the tape they SOLD ME was defective! So how long have I purchased the tape? 2003? They have 90-day. . . . long story short, I started searching WHERE ONLINE I can purchase the same size tape. It brought me to CHAT Office Depot, and can I pick the tape in store? He gave me a discount code, to order from the store to get the FREE SHIPPING, but I needed it yesterday, I didn't want to wait 5days. I have an event Saturday, what good will that do for me? The store to PU, if ordered today was THIS same store. I explained to Chat, I was just there, the other day, and was treated badly! The clerk COULD HAVE ORDERED it for me online, right there & then, and I could have picked it up without paying for shipping, the next day or two. That didn't happen, he only suggested I contact Brother and talk to them about my defective label. "Chat: We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused, I am escalating the issue so that the item will be delivered to the store and you can pick the item from the store within an hour today. Is that fine with you?" I'll update in 1hr. and maybe, with that kind of service come back & add another star! UPDATE: almost 4 hours later. . . Back re-CHATTING the same way as this morning: "Flory, I do apologize but with that issue it is online purchasing, and with regards to that escalation we need to follow some process that's why it cannot be done right away." Chat: I do really apologize, because I could not be able to trace this escalation but to follow up I will make another escalation for you." Meaning an additional 4 hours. more of waiting or call from them. This chatter takes 4-ever to type, so chatting with her that could have taken 10 mins. took 45 mins. BTW: she's sending me $20 off for every purchase of $100. The item I want cost $20. and now she wants me to spend $100 to get my $20 discount? I'm being ripped off 2x! How much will I save, if I went to another store? Update, same day, 6 hours later. I was repeating everything I talked to CHAT from 6AM. My last call with CHAT @ 7PM I was told, "Will surely be resolved by the end of the day and will pick up item in the store." This is now 9:30PM, and I didn't hear back from them, nor will I ever hear back from them. My result with CHAT? ZERO! I just put in my order FOR 2 @ Amazon.com and I'm subtracting one more star. read more

I have been shopping at this location for fifteen years. As a high school teacher I am in continual need for office supplies because I constantly giving it away to students who come to class without school supplies. I have always experienced inconsistent service at this site that ranges from sometimes great to usually meh. Today I got full on Doh service. For reasons I do not need to explain here I need some film. I know, when was the last time I bought film? So I went to this place because it is near and I thought they might have it. Upon arriving I went to the print area and looked through the batteries and grabbed one I needed but I could not find any film. I stood there trying to figure out where it might be if it is even still available. This big employee (I think his name was Chris) starts walking toward me so I give him the look of "I have no idea where to find . . . " He looked looked away as he continued to walk toward me. He looked back at me again as he continued toward me and I further stressed the expression on my face but he again quickly broke eye contact and then turned to go in another direction away from where I was standing. The third time he locked eyes with me I changed my expression to what the #$@%& kind of service is this? He then recognized my presence with a comment like, "I will be with you in a minute" but I returned the batteries and walked out. There are too many other options. It is time I go elsewhere for my pens, paper, markers, staples, scissors, binders, folders, rulers, pencils, and what not. read more

Just went to the store after having a conversation on the phone the day before for banners and flags. After I started talking to someone in the store the price of the banner almost doubled what I was told I was going to take up to 10 days instead of what they told me ,the same day! Then I asked again about the flag that was supposed to take up to 10 days. I was told they don't even do flags. I miss Office MAX, it was a thousand times better then Office Depot. Both in customer service and product pricing and wish they didn't merge with them. Every time I come here, they always racial profile, acting as if being black is a crime, despite me living and being part of this community for 20 years. Also, if someone was going to shop lift, why would they go to the store with $3oo dollars to spend. Doesn't make sense. I refuse to shop or buy anything from Office Depot until they have a customers bill of rights in place. I went to here because their website said they had the itemI was looking for in stock. When I arrive a sales clerk said it was I then a k, but had to ask the manager named Andy if he could pull it out from the back. Andy said no and refused to come out and talked to me. I never had a store refuse to seller something not in stock before. UPDATE: I was able to go to Target and get the item I wanted there. I just want to thank Andy again for not doing his job and being to big of a coward to come out and talk to me face to face. I received an email last night saying I had $14.43 in rewards from my ink cartridges, so I printed it and took it to the store today to use in buying more ink. I was scolded by the check out clerk and told that next time I need to click a button, sign in with the unique password (which is not the Office Depot password), and print that page and bring it in next time. He explained it would make his job easier! Why don't they just send me the page they want? Why don't they train their staff on customer service and how to treat people? This place has always been a frustrating experience... HUGE store, and very nice setup... but maybe that tantalizing appeal is what adds to the frustration. For being such a HUGE store with apparently so much to offer, it is always horribly understaffed. I don't ever (usually) criticize employees and it is the same here: I suspect this place is just horribly managed, and it manifests as: Well, last several times I've gone here that HUGE store only has 3 people working, yes, three people trying to do EVERYTHING. I feel bad for them, they are doing their best, these 3 employees... but the lines are, as expected, LONG when you only have 3 people on staff. Come on "HUGE store", don't be so cheap, put a few more people on board to answer questions and back up the other employees... I'll be going to Kinko's unless the situation improves. read more

I have been to this Office Depot in Northeast Portland, Oregon many times before. If you want a Wrist Rest, they have some. A few Years ago, when my Darling Husband needed a Newer Work Bag, it looks like a soft Attache Case, I purchased a Smaller Black Work Bag here for him. They have a Large Selection of Post Its at Times as well. There is a Counter with Clerks that are able to Help you with your in store Printing Needs. I had wanted to know the Cost of having one of those Flags for Advertising Businesses Printed for some time. There is a Demonstration Flag inside Office Depot with the Price Clearly Marked. Did you know... this Office Depot sells Desks? There were LOTS of them the last time I was here. Oh, and the Clerks will Answer most all of your Questions before you Purchase your items, should you have any Questions about a Particular item. Know what you need and where it is, or order online. Given the fact that Office Depot should be working to acquire new business partners using their products, my non-profit will not be returning to this location or any Office Depot. Before I explain, I encourage anyone researching office supply chains to use, to ask yourself if you're willing to wait far longer than truly necessary in order to receive any help. Also should be noted that I have been using the nearby Staples store on 122nd and Glisan since Office Max at Mall 205 closed down. Both of those locations were used because of their amazing service and previous negative experiences with this Depot location over the last 3 years. Upon entering the Office Depot on 102nd and Halsey, I had a very simple task: gather pricing for document printing in store, and find pricing for 4"x5" (4-up) laser printer labels. Entering the store, the staff did not greet me and never once approached me while I was shopping around. The cashier was leaning on the check stand counter doing who knows what with an ad. The store itself was mostly clean and decently stocked, but pallet displays along the center aisle were bare and poorly spaced to utilize the most effective amount of space. After 15 minutes of carefully looking around the label aisle, I did not find any labels close to what I needed. Having worked retail myself for nearly a decade as a store manager, I chose to avoid searching for help, to see if the associates would ever approach me. In my experience and training of staff, associates should have been actively interacting with all customers. With that, I carried on to the print shop, where I was greeted in such a way that I felt as if I had intruded on whatever task the lady behind the count was doing. After identifying myself and my intent, I asked for pricing on a particular style of paper (ivory or silver colored pearl stock). Before I could explain what it was for, I was told "Yeah, we have some back here but won't be restocking it once we sell out of it". Confused, I asked if an alternative would be available... to which I was told, "We sell it down with the specialty paper. You'll need to buy it and then pay for just the print cost." Fair enough, but upon asking if there would be a better alternative for my needs, and to avoid multiple trips for a single print job, I was given zero suggestions. Two missed opportunities to engage a new possible repeat customer, and multiple failures to engage and ASK questions to identify a need. Unless you know exactly what you need and where to find it, this store will not help you. As a previous loyal customer to the OfficeMax nearby that shut down and business shopper at the Staples that just recently shut down up to road, I will definitely make the extra drive to avoid going to this Office Depot for my personal or business needs. read more

Bought a computer here a month ago. No, I didn't get the protection plan. My bad. The monitor died. They will fix it for $250, but it would have to be in Texas for a month. No thanks. I work at The Home Depot, and I get at least one customer a day who says, "I will never shop here again!" I always try my best to resolve the problem, but you can't please everyone. So today I did the obligatory, "I will not shop here anymore!", and he didn't even try, couldn't have cared less. He even yawned during the transaction and said it was nap time. Office Depot was running a black Friday special on paper. It was 3 reams for 1 cent after rebate. I called the branch on 99th and NE Halsey to make sure they had some in stock before driving there. The girl who answered the phone told me to hold on while she checked. After a couple of mins on hold she hung up on me. So I called back and said I was hung up on and was on hold to find out about the paper on sale, she hung up on me immediately. I called back again and I said, "Hello can you hear me?" And she hung up again. I handed the phone to my wife and said, "You try it" and she actually got an answer. Rudeness aside, I drove there and found out about the convoluted rewards program they now have in place and the many hoops you must go through in order to get a rebate that is only good at Office Depot and for a limited time. I drove home empty handed because unless you spend way more money there...... this offer is SOOO not worth it. read more

I would give -5 if I could!!! Very very bad service at this place!! Didn't even know this bad of a service was possible! They were closing and I was running late, I had to ship out my two packages ASAP! I was already two days late and I couldn't do it earlier becuase Im a pretty busy person. So I go in to print my labels and the manager was talking to me very rudely "you know some of us been here the whole day! We want to go home!" Well more like yelling/talking. I told him I was going to be fast. So I show the other worker which labels to print out and he prints out two same ones, I told him he printed out two same labels, he sighs and rolls his eyes on me and im sweating and trying to hurry bc their all pissed at me and watching me like wolves, so he prints out the other one and then I realize I dont know which one goes on which box so I log back into my gmail and the guy was like "take all day if you want!" So that blocked my mind on which box it goes on again and so I didn't wanna bother asking again so i thought i put the label on the right box and so I sent it out and turns out I got them mixed up and lost $50 worth of items and the items. Thanks to those sh*t heads. They wouldn't stop staring at me with anger and cursing eyes so that very very distracted me! Im a freakin customer and they should act polite! Never again am i going there! Even if I have to drive 15 extra miles to ship anything out! read more

They must have too any customers. I went into this store on Monday Feb. 17th 2014 and they absolutely ignored me and wouldn't even open a check stand up for me to buy the products I picked out. 3 of their managers were too busy walking around talking to stop and help and they left one guy up front to answer calls and help customers and they were obviously the ones who trained him. When the phone rang he totally ignored the paying customer right in front of him and talked on the phone. I gathered from this fine display of customer service they must not want my business so I left and went to Staples and they actually opened a check stand up for me to purchase the same products Office Depot had. After this I called and emailed them about it. I received an email from their customer service rep to call him, I did and you guessed it, no answer. Here is a store that likes failing, when I have a customer I do my most to keep them not drive them away. So sad because they were very good the last 3 years but now they just seem to want to fail.
