I was in shock as to how ridiculously fast this was. I needed to pick up a specific notebook. I walked in and one of the staff greeted me asking if he could assist. Here's the thing - this does happen sometimes at other stores but rarely do they actually want to help. He did! I showed him the photo and he immediately was pretty sure he knew exactly where it was. He was just amazing and then someone else wandered over to get me through checkout. I was expecting the opposite so what a refreshing experience. Also, in this area parking can be pretty challenging but their lot is clear though be careful on the approach if you are going through the back and side streets. A lot of nearby businesses have big box trucks so other cars and bikes dart around and it can be a bit dangerous. read more

When I need printer paper and ink, this is where I go because it's on the way home from my gym and there is plenty of parking because no one is ever there! No matter what time I show up, I'm usually the only one in the store. How do they stay in business? Customer service is hit or miss. Someone is always trying to sign me up for an HP automatic ink program but if I'm trying to find a case for my gel pens, they point yonder and say, "maybe they are over there." Back to the ink for the printer. I have a small HP printer for my home needs; cost about $100 and came with four colors of ink. To replace the ink, it costs more than the darn printer! My tip is to search online and often you can find on Amazon for at least 25% less than here. I only buy at Office Depot when I can't wait a day or two for a shipment to arrive. When I get to the counter, they are friendly enough. If I mention a coupon online they automatically put the code in. Nothing to rave about or even get mildly excited about. It's mediocre at best. But since it's convenient, I stop in once or twice a year, like today for a pack of printer paper. Oh, I do shop at their online store for Starbucks Via coffee. They sell the box of 50 for about $38. I wait for an online coupon and order 2-3 boxes to get free shipping. read more

I came in to get some invitations printed and there was a customer ahead of me taking awhile with her order. Craig checked in with me when I first arrived and I told him I needed printing so he said I should wait in the line I was currently in. After about 15 minutes of waiting, Craig came back and offered to help since it was taking so long. He was very thorough and made sure I got the size invitations I needed. I went into Office Depot to buy a shredder. The prices were incorrect for the shredders and the supplies. There were clearance prices for shredders that were not valid. I bought an accessory and at the register it wrang up $5.00 more than the posted price. Is the company giving enough hours to allow the store to complete the pricing jobs? It's fairly generic and bland walking in the store. If you need to get something done this is the place to do it. No bells and whistles and nothing welcoming ambiance to walk through. I think this Office Depot is pretty handy and helpful of staff. Sometimes it's deserted - but I usually can get what I need and get out with little effort. My HP printer failed on me, again, but it was a couple years old. I was hoping to trade in and recycle my ink in credit for a new printer. The greeter/cashier directed me to a young man that helped me. He directed me to printers that would give $ credit off towards new printer. I shopped a bit more and selected a model that would suit my needs. I was able to get ink traded in for future credit and they recycled my old-non-working model. I was annoyed that I'd bought new ink - and now I only get $2. But it's how it goes, can't take it out on Office Depot. Other transactions here have been great. Some of the workers are quirky and share a joke or two. Clean, no frills. read more

Very poor experience. The staff are very rude and not helpful. Carl, in particular, was extremely rude, and disrespectful, and did not help me in the slightest with my online order. In addition, the corporate number I was told to call left me on hold for over 25 minutes, and the online chat representative disconnected before resolving my issue. I don't know why but this seems to have become my default Office Depot. It is fairly conveniently located, nice size and layout and the staff seems fine. I always find parking at the lot. I seem to arrive with tax season and when I run out of toner for my copier. They do have lots of other office related stuff. Even computers and random stuff they have decided is "office" I've even seen snack food (in the back where I don't often check). Its not somewhere I go for fun. Its more like I go when I have to. I had to send a fax and figured Office Depot would offer a faxing service. I found the last parking spot, luckily it was in the shade and it was kind of busy inside. It took the person at the customer service counter about 10 minutes to get to me and there were about four other guys who worked there just walking around. Once he faxed my documents, I sat a notebook on the counter and wanted to pay. He asked me how many pages I faxed, I said 8. I was thinking this would be like 2 dollars or something. "$13.63 please" "$13.63? How much is it to fax?" "One dollar per page." "JEEZ." So, I felt a bit ripped off. I am pretty sure there are other places in Portland that offer a much cheaper fax service and I will begin the hunt. Until then, good luck finding one. read more

First time I just left in the middle of working with someone ever. I wish i could give it a zero stars. It was after 5 and it was obvious the closing staff wanted anything but to be there. I am not even asking for a smile and hi, just don't look at me with such hate and disgust for walking in. (Two of them as entering without any idea of what I wanted.). The person at the printing desk took 90 minutes to print two sheets of paper, but only after lying to me and telling me that she was a trainee(which she later said she only tells people so they aren't mean to her and has been there for about a year). When she said she was a trainee, she asked me to come back in a few hours when someone else would be in(she later said this was because she just really didn't want to be at work). So disappointed with the service here. I purchased a new phone system for my entire office about a month ago, and it was not a cheap endeavor. I had some basic requirements for the phones. Upon asking the employee strolling around the office phones, he informed me he did not have any knowledge of the phones, but he would call someone who would. After waiting for about ten minutes a manager came to "assist" me...this means he read the product tags to answer my questions. Finally, I pulled out my phone and did the research myself. I checked out and installed my new phones at the office. Today my entire phone system in the office stopped working. I called Office Depot to check on their exchange policy.... The young women who answered asked if I had purchased a protection plan with it. I was never offered a plan?!? She said unfortunately without the plan, electronics are only covered in the store for 14 days. Now I have a $200 broken office phone system that I have to return to Panasonic for repairs. Don't bother shopping at this store. Next time I will take my business to Best Buy, or somewhere that has a bit of knowledge on the products, and offers me a protection plan to back their low end equipment. If I could I would give this place 0 stars. I purchased a laptop less than 2 years ago from this Office Depot store. I bought everything they tried to sell me because I wanted it to last, or at least if it broke, I would be covered. When I purchased this laptop they told me a bold face lie that now is a huge problem. I purchased a 2 year warranty. I specifically said to the salesman- if this computer breaks, I can bring it here and you will fix it. (At least until my warranty ended. I am on vacation - far away from Portland, and my laptop stopped working. Totally stopped working! So I took it to the local Office Depot, assuming they would be able to bring up my account. Nope. They ran a diagnostic on it ($56 I paid). I was told "I can't fix this because I would have to open it up. It would be cheaper to buy a new laptop- I hope you have a warranty." This laptop has a warranty good until October 29, 2018- so it was covered under the warranty. I called the store in Portland and explained my situation. The person I spoke to was rude and unhelpful. She said they only hold receipts for 30 days. Also, my warranty was not through Office Depot (even though I was not told this when I purchased the laptop). My warranty is through a company called SQUARE TRADE. I was given their number and they would process my claim. Another bold faced lie. I was informed by SQUARE TRADE that if I didn't have the receipt- no one mentioned to hold on to the receipt in order for the warranty to fix my laptop. After hours on the phone- constantly being disconnected- then speaking with at least 3 different SQUARE TRADE operators and getting a ton of different stories about how to get my laptop fixed since it was still under warranty- they refused to honor my warranty. All because I did not keep my receipt from almost 2 years ago. I contacted my credit card company that I purchased the laptop with. They verified the amount, date and store that the charge was made on. Still, neither Office Depot or SQUARE TRADE would honor my warranty. After talking to so many people at both OFFICE DEPOT and SQUARE TRADE, I realized that I had been scammed. I was never informed that I had to keep my receipt upon purchase to be able to make a claim and SQUARE TRADE was determined to not honor my warranty- even though SQUARE TRADE was able to pull up the warranty and tell me that my laptop was still under warranty. Do not buy any tech/electronics from this dishonest company. If I had been told to keep the original receipt- I would have kept it in my safe. That's what all of this boils down to. I did not have my receipt so my warranty would not be honored. I was also totally lied to about who I was purchasing the warranty from. I have already contacted the BBB and filed a formal complaint against Office Depot at 323 se Martin Luther King BLVD, Portland, OR. I informed the store and they did not care at all. One last thing, SQUARE TRADE is located in Pakistan so there is no way to file a formal complaint against them. However, I am going to the local BBB office (while I'm on vacation!) and continue to try and report this scam. Do not go to this store!!! If you do, save your receipt for the rest of your life. I now have lost EVERYTHING that was on my computer, including the MS Office Suite that I paid for and paid Office Depot to install. Office Depot informed me that I had no proof that they installed it and I had to purchase it again. Be warned, this Office Depot will never inform their customers the truth and deny any wrong doing. read more

He was not an expert on the subject and admitted it (nothing wring with that). But when he asked for help (paging other employees who were just standing around) no one helped. Pens, paper, staples, notepads, thumbdrives, and CANDY. But why I really come here is the copies. I copy a lot of things, and I got very tired of doing it myself at kinkos. You get a discount the more copies you make, so that it is really great. (I usually copy anywhere from 200-500 sheets at a time, and the discount helps a lot.) The paper selection is not that great, so I recommend bringing your own. They are able to print off a thumbdrive, which is very convenient. They can also make you a calendar of dog pictures, if you so fancy. Most everything else is too expensive in my opinion, but the copies, the copies! read more

THIS IS THE WORST OFFICE DEPOT EVER. Honestly, I m so pissed. due to issues with my printers I have to use printing services every day. First time I came here a month ago and the older lady was insanely rude. Like literally so rude. I asked where can I send my file because I need it to be printed on a special paper - she just showed me the common printer without saying a word. I explained to her what I need, she gave me the type of paper I need and said "go figure it out over there". Like what?!? Okay. I let it go and swore to never use their services again. But today was an emergency and they are the closest to my house. So I stopped by. The older guy who wears a face shield mask, glasses and he has a beard was just unapologetically rude. I asked where can I send a file and he started telling me that I should use a common printer. I explained that I can't because I need a special paper and he said 'well you can't send it to our email so you have to go online bla bla" (literally yesterday I could send it to the email and today I can't?!? Srsly). Anyways, after asking him again what to do couple times and not getting a normal answer I asked him "so did I understand correctly that you are unable to print my paper and you can't receive an email from me?" And he raised his voice and said: "well I tried to explain but apparently you are not even trying to listen to me, how many times should I explain?". I just walked outta there and o swear to never ever no matter what use their services ever again. The store is a corporate chain, so it's not going to be winning any awards for charm or creativity. BUT I just had to leave a positive review after my interaction with the manager, Naveen "Nav" (sorry if I misspelled your name!). I called in kind of a stressed and rushed headspace and Nav was so helpful in giving me a sense of if they carried what I was looking for and what the price ranges were on the various options. I said I was on my way, and when I arrived the item was waiting at the cash register waiting for me. After I paid, Nav opened up the packaging and offered to help me install the product to ensure it worked properly, explaining he'd give me a refund immediately if it didn't suit my needs. He was so patient through the whole process, and also gracious when my stress got the better of me and I wasn't my most friendly self. My computer monitor died and my husband I went to Office Depot. The manager Craig explained that his tech guy had missed a flight and so was not at the store but that he could help us and indeed he did. We told him what we needed and he steered us to the right spot, did not give us a hard sell, patiently explained options to us, even checked our cable by plugging it into the monitor we were going to buy. On another day, they were able to give redeem an internet only deal. The staff is just awesome, energetic and willing to help however they can. I live in Omaha, NE and needed to have 20 copies made of a 15 page report that was being presented by my business associate to a client the next day. I called the store at 7:00 AM and spoke to a very professional young woman name Heather. I was able to email the report to her; and she had it completed within an hour for my business associate to pick up. We travel to Portland a minimum of 6 time a year and I won't hesitate using this Office Depot store in he future. Worst customer service ever. I approached three different people before I was able to get help. The first employee refused to make eye contact with me and then suddenly appeared to be mid-phone call. The second said "I'm new so..." and then "I could find someone else if you want..." and finally "I don't really know anything about technology." That's cool dude I just want you to get something from the back, not write code. The third was just terse and rude. When I made it to checkout, the cashier was hardly more helpful. What's worse than having a store with not enough staff on duty? Answer: having plenty of staff, all of them hooked up to communication equipment, and none of them having any idea what's going on! Wanted to get a price on a desk which was unmarked. No one in the store could get me the price. I left my number so they could call me once they figured it out. Surprise! Never got a call. As I said, plenty of staff on duty but you can stand in the store for minutes at a time with staff passing by and no one helps unless asked. I have always had EXCEPTIONAL service at this Office Depot location, so I don't know if bad reviewers just happened to be there on a bad day, or if bad employees have been terminated. This location is very close to me, so I always bring in my printing needs here, and have never been dissatisfied. I'm always met with courteous employees who go beyond to please me (I'm making artistic prints behind the counter, but am less satisfied with their self-serve machines). Anytime I've been stumped looking for something, an employee comes over and asks if they can help me find something. AND they have a great return policy, as I discovered when I mistakenly bought the wrong ink (opened the box and tried to put in my printer before I realized my mistake)... no problem returning. I shop here often, so I know my experience is not a fluke! read more
