Went in to do some prints, arrived at 8:00pm. GPS maps says it closes at 9:00pm. Ladies behind the counter don't say anything unit 8:30pm when they say "we're closed now"! I have my back to mowers them so don't know they're talking to me. After another 5 minutes the manager comes up to me and tells me that they're closed I have to leave with a poor attitude and impatient. I show him the maps screen showing it closed at 9:00pm he literally stands behind me making me feel uncomfortable leering over me with a mad face. I left. I stated it didn't matter then she told me we'll take the staples out of the package. I had three different packages and she walked over to one of the clerks and picked up a phone and was on the phone and wasn't attending to me so I asked her how come she couldn't do it and she just started talking on the phone so I just walked out. This is bad customer service I work in the legal field and I come over there from time to time for copies in this store always gives me a hard time for a little copies or buying product. I came in to get some photo paper and ink for my printer - a no biggie errand, really. Service was "okay" - I used my yelp check in coupon which seemed to be a bit of an inconvenience for the cashier. She shared that I'd have to do two separate purchases in order to get the discount because of the ink. Fair enough, I guess. Prior to that, my hopes of getting in / out quickly were dashed by two confusing lines and not enough room to house them. Apparently one line was for print service and another for regular purchases. While there appeared to be enough staff on hand it just seemed to take forever to make it to the cashier -- and there really weren't that many customers in the store. I felt like I entered some weird twilight zone time vortex that just made. Everything. So. Darn. Slowwwwww. I walked in today at around 5 pm and asked for help printing the return shipping labels for Amazon because I don't know how to use the printer. First I asked the lady in the back and she told me the front lady can help me then I stand in line to wait for it and then she said I need to wait at the printer, okay I wait for a long time but nobody come to help then I asked the front lady help me to print totally 3 papers. PRO-TIP: 20% off with a Yelp Check-In! One of the few Office Depots left in the area and as many others said, it is very understaffed. Came here a couple days before Christmas and many people were trying to get their photo printing and label making finished on time. I, on the other hand, was getting some of my anime posters and prints laminated. It cost around $29 for me to get a huge poster, a small flyer booklet, 4 mid-size prints, and a smaller print laminated. It took them around an hour and I was able to just walk around the other shops in the mean time. I gotta commend them for not questioning what I was laminating and the lamination process straightened out the poster that I had rolled up for months. I can also barely notice the fold in my flyer booklet. I also liked the fact that there was an extra bit of lamination on the end so I would feel no qualms if I had to use a thumbtack to my prints and posters. The only reason I'm knocking this Office Depot down some stars is through the stark contrast in customer service. I had a younger attendant help me out the day before and she was super nice and polite. Even when one of my prints was left there, she made sure to call and remind me and stated that it was fine for me to pick up the next day. The next day I came to pick up the print and this older woman who looked fed up with her job rolled her eyes before asking me what I needed. I explained to her the situation and gave my name and my ID and she demanded that I show her my receipt. Unfortunately I did not have it on me because I was ride sharing that day. I told her a massive bunch of details on the order, told her the details of the voicemail left to me, showed her my ID that matched the order slip, and she kept being rude and denying everything until I was so fed up I told her to watch me prove it to her with the voicemail the other store associate left for me. There are few places that do the right thing for a customer and this one of them. Joe (manager) is so customer centric. I had messed up my order yesterday and neglected to add an item. I called the store and explained my situation to Joe. He provided a solution and so I did what he suggested which is to come in later in the day and order my additional copies and it would be handled. I came in tonight. The customer service rep that was taking care of my order must have had a bad day. I was patient in explaining what was discussed, knowing that everyone has a bad day once in a while. JOE is incredibly helpful and friendly. I rarely have the need for office supplies or I usually purchase everything online. However, today I needed some black portfolio folders and clear plastic sheet protectors. Upon immediately walking in, I was greeted by Joe behind the register. I went in here to get an office chair, was sold out but able to order it. I've had this huge chair in my home office that over time has gotten uncomfortable. It was also a real pain in the ass to assemble by myself. New one is leatherish and feels more supportive. It was in west covina, a real odd drive there through back roads and not a large store like the one in Pasadena but the people were nicer here. Looking forward to the new chair. read more

Sandra made everything difficult and made it seem impossible to achieve what I wanted when just days ago the lady who helped me took initiative to offer services aside from printing that I didn't know about that improved my prints. If I ever consider ordering from Office Depot.. I won't. I placed an online order for pickup in May.. and showed up to pick it up after work. I stood right under the sign that said online pick up orders.. and waited, and waited, and waited. I watched as two other employees were doing absolutely nothing. And the guy standing in front of me never acknowledged me standing there, just continued to help the lady at the counter who had approached AFTER I had already started standing there (I guess they were working on something for her?). No "hold on a second, I'll be right with you.." not ANY kind of acknowledgement that I was there. After about 15 minutes of standing there, I finally said.. "look, can you just give me my items for pick up, they are right there (and pointed behind him)." So he looked, and then finally asked the cashier to ring me up at the register. This was not convenient. This was not quick. The cashier had to ring everything up and charge me there again. This was my first and only shopping trip to Office Depot for as long as I can remember, and it is enough for me not to want to ever come back. read more

I travel a lot for work and we use ODP for all of our printing, so I see a lot of Office Depots. Even though it's much, much smaller than other stores, this one is by far my favourite and Joe absolutely makes it for me. He's not only helpful and smart, but you can actually have a solid conversation with him. He spends time getting to know what you actually need and will get it done for you.
