I recently visited my local United States Post Office near downtown Covina for the first time, and I was actually kind of excited about it. The building itself has a really charming, old-school feel to it. It's not modern or flashy, but in a good way. It genuinely feels like stepping into a little piece of the past, which I appreciated. They open at 8:30 a.m., and while there was a short wait and a line, that part was understandable given the holiday season and the fact that many transactions understandably take time. What really stood out was the young Latino gentleman with glasses working the counter. I didn't catch his name, but he was incredibly efficient, patient, and had a genuinely good attitude. As someone who doesn't regularly use the post office and needed to send certified mail, I definitely needed a bit of guidance, and he handled that smoothly. You could clearly tell the difference between customers who come in regularly and people like me who needed some direction, and he treated everyone with the same level of respect. He honestly deserves five stars on his own. That said, the overall experience lands at four stars for me. I was a bit surprised by the cost of certified mail, which came out to around $11, and I'm not sure if that's standard or holiday pricing. I also noticed he was on his phone calling the Covina main office, which made me wonder if he was trying to get backup. During the holiday rush, having only one worker feels like a lot to put on one person and can slow things down for customers. I'll absolutely be back since this is my local post office, and I'd happily update my review if staffing improves. There was only 1 person assisting a line of 10-12 customers until William came to help out as well. The post office is clean, staff are very friendly just understaffed. As with any USPS, the place is for posting, a service that requires person to person interaction. Some people still think they are the only ones in line, and their business is more urgent than anyone else's. It happens everywhere, at this time of year, the "true-self" makes an appearance, sometimes, at the post office. Thankfully, staff is unflustered. "The mail must go through" is the bottom line. People need to be reminded that a little courtesy goes a long way. My stuff got mailed, many of us observers were entertained, patience was tested, audience deserved high praise for cool-keeping. read more

Despite the fact that capitalists & elected officials want to privatize the service so they can profit off of it instead of the working class having it as a service to meet our needs, the workers here fight back and are truly amazing! Always great connections with them. The real answer for the working class is first, we have to get rid of the totally unreasonable and unprecedented mandate that the postal service pre-fund health benefits nearly a century in advance. This requirement was intentionally imposed in 2006 to slowly bleed the system of the funds it needs. Then, we can find ways to direct more resources to the postal service so that services can be expanded and improved. One key way to do this is to make corporations who rely on USPS as part of their business model pay their fair share. Amazon, for instance, maximizes their profits by taking advantage of the low-cost services offered by the postal service -they can certainly afford to pay more. And by expanding USPS rather than turning it over to private corporations, we will create badly-needed, union jobs that pay a wage that can sustain a family. read more

It's a very antique prehistoric relic of a aging dinosaur of a building that was probably built before Abraham Lincoln. This place has been here for decades, if not the turn of the century and has a very old look to it. The line was a little long, but in less then 10 minutes, these efficient workers took care of the lines. This was on a Friday before they closed, Wow...amazing!!! I've noticed that the workers are always fast, efficient and very courteous with everyone that they come into contact with. I'm impressed. read more

What happened to the mail must go through??? When I lived in Victorville my husband's retirement check every month at least 4 days early. Now that I live in covina and the check is mailed from covina I'm lucky if I get it a week late! This absolutely ridiculous! When I went in to complain about thet were rude and let me it wasn't thier problem! ...maybe they would like to pay my late charges??? I sent a certified letter from Covina to Covina, same city, on the 21st of this January. USPS tracking tells me the letter was sent to Santa Ana and is late! No wonder! Why send a letter to city an hour away for processing if the destination is literally less than 15 minutes away? Hell, City of Industry central hub is even closer than Santa Ana. Morons! Package Theft *** I have had 2 separate packages go "missing" after shipping from this post office. There is an internal thief and this post office and the Covina Post Master Ernie Rivera seem to care less about finding or recovering missing packages. Do Not Mail Your Packages Here!!!! I had tracking & insurance on my package, but still somewhere along the lines an internal thief is intercepting. I've filed a complaint with the Postal Inspector. read more

Holiday rush has the line snake like wrapped around the building leading to the outside stairs. Waited in line for over 20 mins to drop off a prepaid package. Not knowing that I can just cut in front of everyone and leave it at the counter. Ashley the lady who helped me had no type of customer service. No emotion. No greeting. She looks like she hates her job. Every other postal worker I've encountered there is cheerful. Respectful and approachable. Ashley was none. Like people who love to physically be able to go into a library to pick out and actually read a hard-back book. I love physically being able to enter the covina post office to mail out my packages. I like making use of this dying government agency and you should too. Here you can buy stamps, register to vote, and fill out a change of address book. This particular location is very old and has a very unique smell to it. I also appreciate the fact this post office is within walking distance of my favorite Starbucks location. I must say, the workers here are all very pleasant and none of them fit the term of "going postal". There is only two agents working at a time, so be prepared to form a single file line and wait patiently. If you are in the area and need to mail out something, come and check out the one of a kind smell for yourself, you will not be disappointed. read more

No one is there at 2 pm in the afternoon except there is another poor homeless man sitting on the steps as you walk in. The clerk is on his cell phone( clerk number 8, according to the USPS sales receipt, and he doesn't have a name tag). The young man obviously didn't have customer service training. No greeting except " next" and no eye contact. Didn't tell me about tracking my two packages or even if I wanted them to arrive quicker at a different rate. Didn't say thanks or you're welcome, or even the usual new generation's response of " no problem," when I pointedly said thank you to him. This is the rudest post office I have ever been to. Went in for passport services. Mind you the website says walkins are from 9-3:45 pm. There is nothing on the website that says you have to sign up on a paper or make an appointment. I had gone the week before to get the application and asked the Asian lady working there (who is very rude) what I needed. She never mentioned that there was a sign up sheet. So I went today and my husband took time off as well to be able to get my daughter's passport but we were turned away since we didn't sign up on the sheet. First of all what sheet are they talking about no where in the Damn post office is there a sign or anything that explains that. read more

Very good service. The gentleman behind the counter was very helpful in helping me send out a package to Afghanistan (military care package) and was very courteous the whole time. I wish i got his name(clerk 27 on my recipe if that means anything) but I will be sending packages out from this location from now on. Was very clear with rates and delivery. I usually go to the post office near my house which is on Azusa Ave and I send gifts back to my country all the time, today I came to this one and do all my usual, I did the exact thing I always do with the other post office and they told me they can not sent out the package for me, I mean wtf really? so they are saying that the other post office is wrong? I'm not very impressed with this post office. There aren't enough employees working at the same time, which means you have to wait in line for a very long time. My biggest problem with this place is that it is not open on Saturdays. I work long hours and get home very late. I don't have time during the week to go to the post office to retrieve a certified letter. I took a day off and when I did, I waited forever in line. We don't receive our mail until about 1pm when we used to get it at 10:30am. Our mail lady takes her sweet time getting to the box then back to her vehicle. Honestly looks like she is crawling. She constantly gives us the wrong mail and my neighbors the wrong mail as well. We are EXTREMELY irritated with this service. The lady we had before was phenomenal. This is located at downtown Covina area. This is close to the CitiBank I visited last week, so it has a old town feeling to it. There were no lines, and I was immediately helped. I came here to FINALLY mail my passport application! The passport website suggested I use some kind of traceable delivery method like USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. The lady helping me immediately told me that it would be expensive and if I would considered something cheaper like Certified Mail. Who wouldn't want to spend less on anything?! The priority mail with delivery confirmation would've cost me about $13-$14, while certified mail cost me just a little over $4. #WINNING! read more

This place is in an old part of town, so the surroundings are a bit run down. I had a big package to deliver internationally, so I needed to use USPS since they offer the best rates. I have had bad experiences waiting in long lines just to be told I need to fill out some additional paperwork, but my experience here was very good. It seems that all the people who work here try to do good job and get people in and out so there's barely a line. William was very helpful and processed my request immediately.
