Like many people during quarantine I got into cycling and specifically got a gravel bike - used (bless FB marketplace) Canondale CAADX 2016. This bike has definitely been a Zeus-send after riding a single-speed for so long. But of course switching from a single-speed to a quality geared bike comes with its new challenges that I personally don't have the experience nor the expertise to diagnose and remedy. Fortunately Official Stage is down the street with wonderful people/owners. Background / Issues.... After plenty of rides in Austin, TX, transporting my bike to SoCal, and riding through the trails here and along the beach, you can imagine the fun wear and tear she's been through. In general I have the tools to headbutt my way through cleaning and maintenance. But after riding through high tide under one of the bridges on the San Gabriel River (didn't see because of the dip), my bike began to *click click click*. After a month or so trying to fix the issue - was it the chains? Crank bolt? Tires? Spokes? I believed it was the spokes after doing the "squeeze" test and seeing that they provided some clicks. I tightened the spokes, but dumbly didn't balance it all around - thus I had a wobbly tire with discs rubbing against the brakes. It was after this that I decided to bring the ol' gal to Official Stage. Drop off / Repair... Once I determined I was the problem (haha), I took mi bicicleta to Official Stage on Black Friday 2020. I informed Walter and Lisa of my issues - clicking and a preferred tune-up, given that it's been a year from the last tune-up. They happily took my bike and said "We'll call you". Of course like with any vehicle you're always worried that there's going to be an upcharge and/or more problems than you anticipated. Fortunately, I came back the following Wednesday to a shiny, clean, oiled, and beauty of a bike - no clicking! Rides smoothly! Tells me nice things! Through the tune-up Walter was able to remedy the clicking - a product of the dirt and sand that accumulated from all my rides (a pat on the back I say of all the adventures). And he fixed my front tire in 5 minutes, spinning it, and adjusting the spokes so that it was recentered. I was expecting to pay $100+ for the tune-up and tire exploration. But it was just the cost of the tune-up $89! Potentially pricier than larger spots - but this is a mom/pop shop and I'm happy to help out my community and a small business. TL;DR (includes things not mentioned) - small shop off Del Amo across from Target and next to a liquor store - has all your needs with knowledgeable and honest owners - dedicated and friendly customer base - quick and efficient tune-up - will bring my bike if any future problems arise read more

Walter, the owner, knows his stuff. Repairs are done on time and at very reasonable prices. He is honest and friendly.

I gave them 3 star for working late just to finish the job I ask them. But here's why I'm not giving them 5 star. The job is so easy but wasn't done right. I asked them to cut and remove 2 spacers on the stem. He only remove one and explained to me why. I took it home and fix it myself. I have them do it so I can do other things at home. Next, Lisa started conversation with me about people dying because of wearing mask because of COVID-19. There are more people dying for not wearing mask, than people wearing mask. I know it's her body it's her decision, but please think of others not just yourself. She talk to me about Jesus too...Jesus show love to people. Show some love if you believe in Jesus-wear a mask. I'm not saying don't go in this shop but if you do, wear a mask...because they don't. read more

I went to Official Stage to have my Fuji Gran Fondo 3.0 LE modified to a more upright position (rather than buying a new hybrid bike). Walter, the owner, explained to me what needed to be done and parts that needed to be replaced based on what my riding preferences were. His quote was very fair so i took the bike mid morning and in the afternoon it was done. Walter told me to take it for a test ride and to come back if any adjustments needed. I did come back to have a minor adjustment but also felt the bike needed tune up. I got the bike back the next day and i was not disappointed at how it looks after modifications. The ride is now more comfortable and runs smoother while keeping most of the original components of the bike. Walter is great , knowledgeable and skilled and communicates well. The owner was so helpful! I use a wheelchair and it's always hard to find a bike shop that carries tires and tubing that fit wheelchair wheels. He does and it's much appreciated. I wish I were able to ride a 2 wheeler again because he's got a lot of cool bikes also. read more

This bicycle shop is great. The owner (Walter) is one of the nicest, honest and hard working guys I know. This is a shop where you come to build your bicycle the way you want it and always go back for upgrades and service. Yes he has used bicycles there and were already custom built by him. If you want a new bike there are a few brands he can special order. I walked in there after I've been riding a Giant escape hybrid flatbar and wanted something lighter and faster. I didn't like being passed up in the bike path anymore. My bike weighed in a heavy 30lbs! I asked him if I could change components and maybe lighten up the bike and he gave his honest opinion. He said that the frame was too heavy and yes he could have sold me better components and made some good money off of me but didn't! To make a long story short I sold my heavy hybrid and purchased one of his creations! I now have a specialized road bike with carbon forks and bars with Shimano components that weights 20lbs and I have no problem keeping up or passing riders on the bike path now! read more

I am so fortunate to have found Walter and his shop. I had 2 bikes that desperately needed tune ups/repairs. I dropped them off and within a few days I got a call from Walter. Walter is a great conversationist and makes you feel at home. I brought multiple bicycles here from e bikes to a top end road bike. The repairs didn't last long for my application which ended up needing a follow up from another bicycle shop one that's specializes in performance bicycles. My confidence in his repairs are now questionable but regardless he runs a decent shop for affordable bicycles. I just wouldn't come here for a complete major tune up or major repairs. WOW is an understatement! So, I just got back from the East Coast and reassembled my $5k Tarmac to go for a ride on Saturday morning. 39 miles into the ride, my headset starts making a severe creaking noice. Searched For a bike shop and found Official Stage Bike Shop on the map so went there. I asked Walter if he could tighten my headset...next thing I know he has the complete fork off and he is cleaning all the spacers and bearings with a spray solvent. He then uses Carbon Fiber specific Park Tool grease on the bearings and rotating parts and reassembles the bike. The whole time I am listening to the sweet sound of a Samoan Guitarist and Walters wife Lisa singing Eric Clapton. Dang what an experience. Now it's time to ride home. God Bless this shop. read more

First time ever doing a yelp review but I feel it's necessary to share my past experience when visiting Official Stage Bicycle Shop. When reading other reviews they raved about Walter and Lisa. Well it's all true. They are really helpful and really want you to be happy and 'BIKE' whichever level you may be. We've serviced our bikes there with quick turnaround. Recently purchased a new Kaimarte road bike and my son wanted to have his road bike serviced there too. Walter said he'll have his bike ready by the next day. Lisa ended up calling later that same day letting me know that our bikes are ready. I said oh wow, that Walter said they won't be ready till tomorrow. Walter told me that he heard my son tell me that he won't be able to go riding tomorrow and felt that he needed his bike done ASAP. Keep in mind my son is 26.... LOL. They're constantly busy for a reason. They care about their customers. They'll be my go to spot with any future bike needs. ALoHA!!! read more
