Came here hungry after a trip to the aquarium. Very small spot tucked in a strip mall. They had two tables and luckily one was available because we were ready to eat. Came in and saw a good assortment of ahi poke. I would say half spicy and half non spicy. Decided on a large poke bowl and a 2 item lunch combo. For the poke, I got the furikake, shoyu limu, and cali style. The spicy aioli pan was empty, so I guess it's the most popular. For the lunch combo, I ordered the pork and chicken. The good: I really liked the cali style ahi poke, it's like a aioli based sauce, had a good balanced flavor. The furikake poki was also good, you could taste the like furikake flavor, with a light soy sauce base. The chicken was really good, light and crunchy and the sauce it came with was really good with rice. I had seaweed salad and Mac salad as the sides and both were really good. The meh: the shoyu limu was a bit on the salty side which didn't go well the ahi. The pork was a bit smoky and juicy which was good but also too salty so couldn't enjoy it as much. They also did not have any diet drinks, all they had were Coke, Sprite, and water but that could be because it was later in the day. Not a big deal. Overall a very good experience and I will definitely go again. The most authentic poke in Arizona! Although, it comes at a price - it is a little expensive for the portion you receive but it's worth it if you don't want to drive all the way to San Diego for some good poke. The fish is marinated and seasoned well and super fresh. There weren't a lot of options to choose from when we visited and it looks like they only offer ahi (bad news for me, a salmon girl). We got two medium bowls with seaweed salad and mac salad as our sides, and everything was good. The rice was a little dry and lacked some seasoning such as mirin or furikake, so I would buy the poke by the pound and make my own rice next time. I just absolutely love how many more authentic Hawai'ian places are opening in the valley! OG Poke is located inside a strip mall, at the north end of the location. Its a small space, but they pack a lot of flavor. We were welcomed, warmly, and genuinely! Turns out, we were both from Maui so we just talked story. Aside from the true Aloha - the poke was so good and simple. The cuts of ahi were perfect. We ordered the ali'i bowl which comes with 2 scoops of poke: ours was spicy and shoyu. Authentic Hawaiian food here, coming from a Hawaiian local. While I ate here, I realized all the workers and customers are also locals from Hawaii. The restaurant has the Hawaiian flag up with island music in the back. The workers speak pidgin which just takes me home and makes me miss it! The poke combo was so ono. You can choose two sides with the kanaka, and I chose Mac salad and cucumber kimchee. They even have spam musubis, butter mochi, ube cheesecake and all the aloha drinks to go with your meal. First time at OG Poke. We arrived at 11:30 to make sure they didn't run low on anything. The place was extremely small, with only two tables inside. Ordering was done at the counter and then you sit down if you're lucky or take it home. I got a Hawaiian Plate (off menu) plus a pound of Poke to go. After tax, it came to $63.08. Given that it was 2 1/2 meals for me helped but it was still steep. The service was outstanding and I hope everyone gets that level of service. My son in law is Hawaiian, so he bonded right away with them. I'm so excited to have a more authentic poke spot in AZ, finally! Counter-style poke is my favorite so I immediately went on a Sunday afternoon to give it a try. The staff is definitely learning still since the place is pretty new, although already bustling and busy. Although we didn't have too many people ahead of us, ordering did take some time. My husband and I both ordered medium poke bowls and were able to sub out a scoop of rice for an extra side for $3. For the quantity of food and fish I didn't find the price unreasonable. The Mac salad, rice, and seaweed salad were standard and about what I would expect. I tried out the spicy ahi poke which was mayo based and also the furikake ahi poke. The fish quality was alright --some of the fish pieces were a little bit tough while others were more or the melt-in-your-mouth consistency I prefer. There were a couple gristle bits as well and some of the cutting was a little uneven. However, the flavors were good. Since this is the only spot in AZ I think it will do well and I would return if I was in the area. Highly recommend trying it out! read more

A Taste of Home in Arizona I was so excited to try OG Poke because there's nothing like this in our area! We even brought a cooler to stock up for the 1-hour trek home. Walking in, it honestly felt like being back home in Hawaii, walking into KTA or Sack N Save--so many poke flavors lined up, it was hard to choose. Food & Variety The staff is brand new and still learning, but the owner was there helping out and keeping things running smoothly. The hot foods available that day were: * Chili Pepper Chicken - pretty tasty! * Kalua Pig - classic and comforting * Loco Moco - loved seeing this on the menu! For poke, we got: * Spicy Ahi * Furikake * Ginger * Hawaiian Style * Shoyu They didn't have poi (which was a bummer because I love poke with poi), but the variety was great. At one point, they asked me if I wanted the "fresh" poke, and I was honestly confused--isn't it all supposed to be fresh? Of course, I said yes, but it did make me wonder about the rest. Fish & Musubi Quality One downside: we noticed a lot of tendon in the fish cuttings. Normally in a pound of poke you might get 1-2 pieces, but this was much more than that, to the point where my child with sensory issues stopped eating after a few bites. I'm guessing it might have been because new trainees were cutting fish that day, but it still brought the quality down. We also got musubi, which sadly missed the mark. There were so many pieces of hard, dry rice inside that my kid--who could eat musubi for breakfast, lunch, and dinner--only made it a quarter of the way through one before giving up. Space & Atmosphere There are only three small tables inside, so it's more of a grab-and-go poke bar than a sit-down restaurant. Just picture picking up your poke and heading home--well, instead of heading to the beach like you would back home. Bottom Line: For poke lovers in Arizona, OG Poke is worth the trip for the variety alone, and it's the closest I've felt to a Hawaiian poke shop since moving here. But the tendon-heavy fish cuts, musubi rice issue, and the odd "fresh" poke question are things I hope improve as the staff gets more experienced--because the potential here is huge. read more

I cannot believe we finally have authentic poke near ASU Came here with my girlfriend for lunch. I paid $24 for the large (3 scoops of fish, 2 rice, 2 sides) and I am genuinely so full I don't know if I can have dinner. The portion sizes are huge (this is a major plus given how overpriced things in the area have gotten) and everything is delicious. We also got the ube cheesecake (and, against my stomach's pleas, tried a few forkfuls of it) which was tasty and the crust was great. The mac salad was also incredibly flavorful and had a great texture, it was sort of like a combo of mac and potato salad? I don't really know how to describe it, but get it. The fish itself was fresh and tender, and the sauce on it was tasty. I got spicy aioli, spicy shrimp, and the spicy avo tuna. The avocado was the best, but I recommend all 3! At checkout we also received samples of the butter mochi, which I will be getting next time. I have had plenty of mochi but nothing like that, it had this homemade taste and feel in the best way. We took everything to go, but it was nice inside. They have all the different flavors/entrees in different labeled bins so you can see what it looks like, and there's a couple places to sit. I've had some really good Hawaiian style poke in SD, and nothing here has compared besides Hapa Food. OG Poke might have the best poke in the area. I love Hawaiian poke and appreciate that they make it the real way here - without all the sweet sauces. My favorites are the furikake and spicy aioli, with the kimchi cucumbers. Others have commented about tendons in the fish cuts - on my recent visit, this seemed to have really improved. I'm excited to try their plate lunches, too. They have rotating specials for both hot food & poke, and recommended following on Instagram to see what's cooking each week. I've been wanting to find a poke nacho place for a while, so I was super excited when I saw this place on social media. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. I got the poke nachos and a medium poke bowl. With my order, I was able to try the spicy aioli, furikake, and the spicy avo tuna poke. For all three, the poke was cut super thick, so you have to do a lot of chewing to finish a piece. Way more meaty than what I'm used to and prefer. That would have been excusable if the seasoning was alright, but I also found all the poke to be very salty, especially the furikake. I got the Mac salad as a side, and while it was also salty, I did like the taste of it. It was probably my favorite thing I got, which is probably a red flag all things considered. I also got the ube cheesecake and the butter mochi. Both were yummy and I'd encourage anyone to get those if they enjoy either desserts. We came here for lunch and we're excited to try an authentic Hawaiian poke place. There was a woman making your orders and even offered to give us samples to try before me ordered. My boyfriend got the medium 2 scoop bowl ($20) with spicy avo furi/furikake, 2 scoops of rice and 1 side (Macaroni salad). I got the small 1 scoop nachos with spicy avo furi ($16). They have a couple of other options for sides that you can pick with the bowls as well. They have Hawaiian canned drinks in the fridge and butter mochi too purchase as well. The poke tasted very fresh. I felt that the ahi was cut into too big of pieces and hard to chew at times. The spicy avo furi has a very thick mayo sauce that it is made in which is good but might be a little much for some people. The furikake had almost like a marinade on it instead of a thicker sauce. The macaroni salad was ok, I don't feel it has much flavor to it. They may have 1-2 tables inside for seating so you should expect to most likely take this togo. We felt it was a little overpriced for the amount you are getting but we are willing to come back and try it again soon! read more
