This is one of my favorite poke spots! I really enjoy the food here, as it's the closest I've found to authentic Hawaiian poke, with traditional flavors like limu that you don't see everywhere.The portions are good for the price, and even the smallest bowl is surprisingly filling. Portions are great. 2 scoop or 3 scoop is super filling! Even a kids bowl is a ton of food. I got shrimp and octopus as my protein and I love that they offer kelp noodles as a base. Some of the crew will HOOK IT UP! But I will say there are some stingy team members who don't load it up as much. Overall a super clean place with plenty of seating. Parking is a nightmare during peak hours, but it's worth it! read more

Poke here is always good :) They have fresh selection of fish, veggie, and sauce. What I like about this place is that they give generous amount of food, and have yellowtail! Although it's a dollar extra, I usually get it cuz it's so yum. Oh and I always ask for wasabi and sriracha, wasabi goes well with fish, and I mix sriracha with crab salad to make it spicy creamy salad. I already want poke again :'( read more

I'm rating 3 stars because the food here is amazing and I've never had a bad experience with the food but recently when I go there's a boy working at the front with long black hair and a bleached part going throw the middle of his pony tail. Yesterday he was working and someone else put my order together and when it came to cash me out he was the one to do so, he asked "for here or to go" and I said for here because I didn't want to waste any bags or unnecessary stickers that most places use. then he pushed my bowl forward and I politely asked for a lid and apologized too (for asking for a lid) and he said to his co worker "Ella dijo para aquí pero luego pidió una tapa seriamente" AS IF MORE THAN HALF THE PEOPLE IN ARIZONA DONT SPEAK SPANISH?? This was my first Poke Bowl and I found out tonight that Ahi Poke was the first Poke Restaurant in AZ. I had shrimp, avocado, pickled radish, seaweed, sesame seeds and fried onion on top of the salad with a citrus dressing. Really delicious and fresh. I'm not much of an adventurous eater...I wanted to try the salmon​ but opted for the spicy shrimp instead. Everything was very fresh and the staff was friendly. I'm on a particularly restrictive diet called a lectin-free diet and this was a great place to go to get a tasty meal that was compliant. It's good to know there's somewhere I can go to get fresh food without having to eliminate a whole bunch of things on pre-fixed menu options. read more

I found it very strange that they don't have any "pre built" bowls on their menu. Their only two options are BYO bowls with either 2 scoops of protein or 3. My bowl had white rice, spicy tuna, salmon, spicy creamy sauce, cucumber, green onions, seaweed salad, avocado, crispy onions, & crabmeat. My bowl came with a fork instead of chopsticks and it came in two separate containers. One for the fish and the other for the rice & veggies. Both bowls were pretty small so it was a little difficult to mix everything together. Everything seemed fresh and tasted pretty good. The spicy tuna and spicy creamy sauce weren't very spicy but they tasted good. There was a good balance of rice to fish and veggies. Seriously how does someone like this get through the hiring process? Extremely bossy, controlling, and aggressive about you ordering. There was literally nobody else in the location except me and she kept telling me that I shouldn't look at the menu because they might have it. This might be shocking to her, but people look at the menu for other things than what's in stock (names of items, combo possibilities, I dunno maybe the drink menu). Whoa! Delicious! Ordered a organic salad, 2 tuna, luau tuna and alll the mix-ins! Service was fast, friendly and the ambiance is the same. Even though the valley is saturated in Poke places, we always compare them to Ahipoki! My food is fresh, cold and delicious, I tried a new mix-in sauce as a recommendation and whoa! I've been missing out on the house spicy. Random thought? I'm usually really picky about smells, when you walk into Ahipoki it smells like rice, not fish. When ordering the employee clearly couldn't have cared less. I felt rushed and a bothersome that I was placing an order. I asked for a little bit of the sweet citrus sauce on the rice and greens base that I ordered. What I got was a base that was drenched in sauce and was soupy at the bottom. The choice of toppings and veggies was lackluster and the employee put very small amounts of everything including the cheap ones such as the edamame. They were a huge help when it came to any questions I had and even gave me their own recommendations which I appreciated. On my last visit, the salmon poke bowl was one of the best poke bowls I've had! Not overly crowded inside but they do stay busy being so close to campus. Who needs burrito bowls when you can have poke bowls? I think I eat enough fish for my body to be recognized as a thermometer. That mercury life! I wish this place existed back when I was a wee lil Sun Devil at ASU. I remember back when I was a student, Pizza Hut bread sticks from the Memorial Union was the coolest thing you can get on campus and surrounding dining consisted of either a damn good burger at The Chuckbox or the worst Thai food ever from Charlie's. You Sun Devils got it SO good these days. At least parking in Lot 59 was only $75 when I went so suck it. Now, to start: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, AHIPOKI! I'm writing this review for their third restaurant on the first year anniversary of their first location. Woo! I frequent the Chandler location the most but I can say that no matter which location you pop into, quality and quantity is consistent. One big bonus about this ASU location is that they're open later. Parking can be a little aggravating and the traffic in the area is something straight out of a nightmare but if you want clean eats that's both good and good for you, stop into Ahipoki! The regular half-and-half is always more than enough for me and you gotta wash it down with the Tropical drink. It might give you diabetes but it's so good. One thing that Ahipoki does that the competitors don't do is mix the salad and fish with the sauce. I hate eating my rabbit food without sauce. Pick a base (white rice, brown rice, salad, etc), seafood (Ahi, spicy tuna, scallops, etc), add some sides (avocado, cucumber salad, crab salad, etc) and a sauce (I always got the spicy house). For $9, you receive 2 scoops of seafood in a bowl filled with healthy goodness. To counteract the healthiness, ice cream filled macaroons are offered for dessert. Get the coffee flavored one. Being that this was my first experience with a "poki bowl", very good impression! Very delicious and fresh flavors of the tuna and octopus! Location is nice if you live or go to school at ASU, otherwise it is a bit of a pain to get to with traffic. Location itself is super sleek and clean. Big space with plenty of seating to chose from. However, it goes down hill from there. I got the half greens and half brown rice. They set the greens off separately to mix, which is nice. I got 3 scoops with the large , which was nice, and all the normal options were there (salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, scallops, etc). Next was the sauce, and this is where things went down. I asked the employee which one he recommended between the two spicy. He said mix both, so I went with it. He added the sauce and mixed them (albeit not well since the fish all ended up on the bottom). Next were the toppings. I went with a good variety, but the first thing I noticed was how haphazard they threw it in my plate. One of the things I like the most about these bowls is how meticulous they are. Each is a work of art, slowly crafted to satiate. There was a lot behind me, but only a few people, and all I wanted was a few extra seconds to be sure my cucumbers were not strewn about. I go to check out, and the price was comparable to most other places. They didn't offer me any of the macaroons when I checked out, and I didn't even notice they were there until after. I sit down to eat, and the sauce was just overpowering everything. The sesame seeds tasted odd, the brown rice was a bit hard, and the overall presentation was not up to snuff. The leftover oil was just too much to bare looking at my empty plate. The fish, when not drenched in sauce, was of good quality. And honestly that saved this review. Knowing me, I'll head back again one day, ask for super easy sauce, only greens, and see if it is any better. read more

I love this place! Ever since I was a student at ASU to now, a working professional. I splurged with my sister and we loved our dinners. I got the large plate ($11.50 - comes with 3 scoops of seafood) with half organic salad and half brown rice. For my seafood, I got the Tuna Luau, Yellowtail (extra $1), and Salmon with the sweet citrus sauce. My sister got the same thing except had 2 scoops of salmon instead of the yellowtail. I also ordered a Thai tea ($2.99) and at the end, went back for a green tea macaron ice cream sandwich ($2.50). I don't recall the exact prices of the drink and dessert but I think it was around these. The brown rice was fluffy and cooked to perfection. The tuna luau doesn't get mixed in with the sauce you select but the other fishes/shrimp/etc. do. The sweet cirrus tasted wonderful with the fish and salad. It mimicked a sweet lemon vinaigrette. The fish was very tender and their flavors were enhanced with the sauce. I loved every bite. You can choose your toppings, I chose all of them. My favorites are the crab salad, seaweed salad, edamame, and seaweed topping. Overall, I'd come back here if I have the financial flexibility to spend a good amount. The portions were big and it was filling! It was also a better eating option than a fast food place. The customer service was phenomenal and the guys that helped me were Eric and Buddha, but the whole staff were very friendly and recommended certain choices for if I was feeling a certain thing. The review was originally left under Scottsdale but it was meant for the Tempe location. This place is delicious! My first time was about 3 weeks ago, and let me just say I have been returning each week since. The food is very fresh, and have several different ways to mix and match. When I say mix and match I mean different sauces, different veggies, and different proteins. Also the best part is if you're going in during your lunch time expect to be there a few minutes because it is super quick to get your food even faster than fast food restaurants but healthy ;). It is affordable and if you want to add avocado it's only $1 more what a steal and they give a good amount of it! (I'm an avocado lover so for me to have left over is a good thing lol) I've only gone to the tempe location, but I'm sure it will be the same satisfaction at all locations! read more

Ahipoki is one of my go to spots, but when I went the evening of Thursday 8/11 I witnessed very concerning hygiene practices. This review is exclusively for that evening. We initially waited a very long time for service. That in and of itself I would have been fine with. What happened afterwards I was not. The two employees needed to open a new box of bowls and the young woman asked the young man for the rice spoon he was holding and then proceeded **to use it to attempt to open the taped box**. She attempted to puncture the tape with the tip of the spoon (it did not work, because it's a thick plastic spoon) and then *handed the spoon back to him for him to scoop the rice from the rice maker into our bowls*. I couldn't believe that they did it right in front of us, what are they doing when customers can't see them? When I said, "Can you please use a new spoon?" she pushed back but eventually, clearly annoyed, offered to rinse it off. I was very put off at this point and we decided to go elsewhere. This is when the second unhygienic practice happened, the male employee dumped the rice from our bowls back into the rice cooker. I still love Ahipoki but these employees need to go back through their food safety course. If I had been a health inspector it would have not been good for them. read more
