Lamb Soup was delicious and perfect for a snowy day. We ordered their famous "Polov" and "Special Oguz Combo" for entrée. Polov included rice, carrots, onions, raisins and served with Lamb Shank. Special Oguz Combo included Ground Beef Kebab, Chicken Souvlaki, Chicken Wings and Lamb Kebab served with rice and vegetables. This was my first time ever trying Uyghur food, so I did a bit of Googling beforehand to understand the flavours and traditions behind the cuisine. Uyghur cuisine is known for its bold, savoury, well-seasoned dishes. Cumin, black pepper, and chili powder are signature flavours, so expect dishes to come with a deep, aromatic profile. We ordered: * Eggplant * Manta * Lamb soup * Special Oguz Combo for 2 Everything came packed with spices and flavour. The lamb soup was warm, and comforting. They prepare lamb really well here and surprisingly light on the gamey flavour, leaving behind a clean, soothing broth that feels very nice on a cold day. The Special Oguz Combo for 2 was no joke. Honestly, it could feed four people easily. We ended up with plenty of leftovers, which made a yummy lunch the next day. As my first Uyghur cuisine experience, Oguz set the bar high. The most memorable bite this year was trying Uyghur cuisine. Ordered plenty so I can have leftovers. The lamb was tender and paired well with the rice. The beef puff was juicy and crispy. Came here for a weekend dinner specifically based on online reviews on Chinese social media. Overall while the decor was really interesting with Uyghur culture, the food was just okay. We ordered the baked stuffed Samsa (baked buns), the pilou rice, Lamb kabob, and the lamb ribs. The lamb kabobs were just okay, while the lamb was not touch, it was not tender, and was just a tad on the bland side. The lamb ribs were decent and while fall apart, tasted like it's been boiled in pressure cooker, and then deep fried, and seemed lackluster in flavor. We did really like the baked Samsa which were juicy, crispy, but I wasn't a fan of how the crust seemed like puff pastry, as opposed more of a 'dough' which would have had a better texture for me. read more

Fried Unche noodle (beef, $22) was pretty good: a bit soupy & like pasta (small cubes). It was just a bit spicy. It came with tasty tomato stock. Samsa ($20) was a baked dumpling that was hot & flaky with a tasty, moist interior. I didn't find the chili oil did anything for the dish. All their dumplings have the same beef stuffing, just being boiled, grilled or baked. Jungal kebab (Lamb, $32) was really luscious & beautiful. It was pretty tender though some bits were tough. It had a milder taste than the usual Uyghur lamb skewers: I could taste the original flavour of the meat. The rice was drier than the usual plov but tasted decent. The tomato was moist with a simple smoky flavour. The bread had some crunch & richness. This place has nice decor. read more

It is a Xinjiang Specialty restaurant, very similar to Turkish food. We went on a Saturday afternoon at 5pm, there were about 4-5 tables occupied. The restaurant is big and decorated like palace. We enjoyed our Oguz Special combo for 2 which has sorted lamb, beef and chicken. We loved the lamb with rice the most. The French fried under the grilled meat was surprisingly yummy as it absorbed all the meat taste. The other meat is just ok. We also ordered Samsa ($20) a kind of grilled bread with meat, it was ok. Yogurt at $5 each with sunflower seed, pomegranate and honey was pretty good. The price is not cheap for some items, but we think the combo is at good price. This place offers Northwestern Chinese cuisine (Muslim food). The dishes were generally decent but a bit pricy (expect $40+ per person). The restaurant had nice decoration with light Chinese folk music as a background which was delightful. On their menu, there was limited veggie choices. We tried their lamb skewers with rice, Nang (a typical dry pastry in Xinjiang that people bring in when they travel in the desert), big plate chicken and yogurt. All but the Nang and rice were good. Nang tasted more like bread. Too lavourless, thick and not chewy enough. Rice was flavourless and missing the scent of lamb oil. The lamb skewers were super yummy though. Quite well marinated and good cut. Big plate chicken was also yummy. I especially liked the noodles came with it. Quite chewy, hitting the expectation of noodles from Xinjiang. Last but not least, the yogurt was well made too with lots of raisins inside. Overall, this is a place we want to revisit occasionally when we miss good lambs. It was some random Yelp recommendation popping up that drew my attention to this outpost of Uyghur culture in an drab industrial office building out in the Finch/Dufferin area. It's places like this that affirms how you can find anything and eat the world in Toronto, even if it means going far out of the way to find a particular food or ingredient. Oguz stuns visitors with its large, bright and nicely decorated space, which I wasn't expecting at all, and fit for a large banquet. Aromas of spiced grilled meats fills the air, seeing scores of fellow diners with their tables of kababs, oh so mouthwatering. The menu, a fanfare of Uyghur dishes with a bit of Chinese, seems more geared a larger table of guests (as is usual of Asian cuisines), and leans quite much on lamb and chili heat which my accompanying sister wasn't keen on. She chose a grilled chicken wings dish. The wings were flavourful and neatly smoked and not at all spicy which suited her well. I went with the Oguz Lengmen, a thick noodle bowl served with a medley of beef and cooked vegetables which gets poured onto your noodles in front of you by your server, and it packs a good tad of heat along with a warm mix of ingredients akin to some similar Chinese dishes. Overall with a warm ambiance and food it feels kinda like a hidden gem kind of place in our fine mixed bowl of a city. read more

First time trying this Uyghur food. Urghur is located west of China. I believe it is border to Persian countries. Hence, the food looks like Turkish but same time there is dumpling and noodles like in China. The food is good, a set for two may serve for 2-4 person. The big rice dish is very big and fit for 9. It is a bit pricey and if you want to try a bit of everything, order for 1 to try. The lady is urghur who is very friendly. She can speaks Mandarin , English and of course urghur. From the outside it doesn't seem like much, but the moment you step into the restaurant you are transported to a different country. Beautiful stained glass alcoves, lush chairs and unique decorations makes the space unique and inviting. We had the Samsa (delicious meat filled pastries served with chilis), Special Uyghur pasta (always love fresh handmade cut noodles), and the Lamb Kebab (so juicy!!). It is a more memorable meal from recent memory and will be recommending to friends and family! Extra star for serving a unique cuisine not easily found in Toronto. The decoration is authentic and beautiful. The smell permeates through the restaurant in a aromatic way. Overall food is pretty tasty. Paca was a bit too salty imo and I wish there was more of the tasty rice on the meat platter instead of fries becauze it's only a spoonful per person. We were excited to find a Uyghur cuisine restaurant on the west end, especially since the quality of many of the Xinjiang style restaurants in Scarborough have gone downhill in recent years. For 2 adults and 1 child, we ordered: - 1 Jungal Kebab (lamb skewers). This dish was awesome. It came with 4 large skewers of lamb served on the metal skewer. They were tender and aromatic, with just the right amount of flavour. It comes with a side of rice (mediocre), some nan bread, hot peppers and raw onions on the side. Strongly suggest you eat the lamb with the onion topping! - 1 Big Plate Chicken. This dish was moderately spicy and comes on a bed of noodles. The noodles were chewy and absorbed the sauces for a strong flavour. - 1 order of nan bread. This was disappointing. The bread was more like an old bagel. Even dipping it in the chicken sauce didn't help. - 1 order of yogurt. Served cold and topped with raisins and pomegranate seeds. Decent dish. One caveat on this restaurant is they don't have many non-spicy options, and they do not allow you to request non-spicy on any of their dishes. All of their salad options have spicy sauce, so we were not able to get any greens for our little one. Overall if you want good Uyghur cuisine in the GTA this is a place to check out. read more

The restaurant wasn't too crowded. We ordered drinks, an appetizer and the main dish for two. Service wasn't that great as they had a hard time understanding us. The food took a long time to show up. Visited on April 4/ 2024, late lunch hours. The restaurant wasn't busy just few patrons understandibly given the time. Noted couple of takeouts being picked up. Upon entering you'll be greeted with a spacious dining room with a pleasing ethnic decor. Was promptly seated at a large table. Party of 3, we have ordered the lamb soup which comes with a bowl of broth and a boiled lamb meat, carrots, fresh cut onions and a portion of flatbread served separately. Tasted great. Next the plate of dumplings with a chili oil, very tasty and home made, not the frozen variety stuff. For main we have ordered the mix grilled meat platter for four and it was epic. Freshly cooked to order and huge quantity of assorted meat: roasted lamb, lamb Kebob, chicken Kebob, chicken wings, beef skewers, fries, rice and some grilled tomatoes and peppers. It tasted really good as good as it looked. We were not able to eat it all and packed a half to go. We also had Turkish black tea steeped in the pot. This restaurant is Halal, with extended hours for Ramadan if anyone cares. Service was great, ambiance looks to be good for families, smaller/ larger groups and there's a separate private dining room in the back seem to accommodate about 20 guests. This restaurant hit the spot as I was looking for something new and this was it. Central Asian cuisine with Turkish and Chinese dishes. Highly recommend, it's worth the trip. Could've been better. My husband and I came there on November 30, 2024 Around 18.30pm. We didn't have a reservation, just decided to try this place out. First, this place claims to be Halal, though I haven't found any halal certifications online. When we came in and asked for the certificate, the waitress didn't show us anything. It's a bit odd considering that other restaurants have their certificates available at the reception area. There is a Quran on the shelf which makes you even more dubious that if they have Quran why they can't have a proper Halal certification?.. Second, more on a side note, the waitresses didn't have any uniform which, in my view, looks more like a walk-in cafe with no assigned staff than a proper restaurant. We had to look through the crowd to guess who our waitress was. Third, and unfortunately most disappointing point, is that the quality of service is quite low. The waitress did not write what we ordered, so, inevitably, she forgot one of the main course dishes. My husband was quite upset as he was left out not satisfied (on his birthday), and we didn't not want to waste 30+ more minutes waiting for 1 thing. After that we had to chase after the waitresses to ask for the receipt as they would not even come to our table. So, the service is very disappointing.
