After the big winds we had in Hawaii during the first week of December 2017, I started finding roofing tiles in my yard. A friend put me in touch with Ohana Construction Inc. in January 2017. On January 10, 2017, Brandon W., Ohana Representative, came out for a free inspection of our roof and said we had wind damage to our roof and that probably our insurance company would cover the damages and if our insurance company agreed all we would have to pay was our deductible. Brandon W. then helped us contact our insurance company and told us what information the insurance company would want from us. Shortly after, I signed a very short and easy to understand contract with Ohana. About January 12, 2017, Brandon W. and Mike B., Regional Manager, came by and checked our roof again and said to let them know when the insurance adjustor would be coming out to inspect the roof. On January 19, 2017, the insurance adjustor came to inspect our roof. True to their word, both Brandon and Mike B. were there and went up on the roof with the adjustor. About 20 minutes they all came down off the roof but were talking back and forth for about 10 minutes. All three (3) went back up on the roof for about another 20 minutes before they came back down and all smiled, shook hands and the insurance adjustor left. I asked what happened and was told that the insurance adjustor didn't initially think that our whole roof was damaged so they went back up on the roof and showed the adjustor why it was the whole roof not just a part of the roof. In the end, the insurance adjustor agreed with Brandon and Mike's assessment of the roof damage and my insurance company agree to fix the whole roof. Ohana Construction Inc. fought for me, the home owner, for what was right and fair. On about January 26, 2017 I got my insurance claim report. I let Mike and Brandon know and they helped me order my roofing tiles and color of the tiles. On February 4, 2017, Matt B., owner, Ohana Construction Inc, stopped by to drop off some tile samples for us to inspect to make sure we had chosen the right color for our roof. Matt B. also said that if I had any questions or concerns to email or call him and he'd answer my question(s). Later that afternoon, I shot an email to Matt B. and Mike B. and asked if there was some "wiggle room" from the cost of the tiles in case there was damage under the old roof that was unexpected or should we order a less expensive tile, just in case. In less than an hour Matt B. responded back to me and I quote "We take pride in standing by our contract and our word. To you, that is that your out of pocket expense will only be your deductible." What a strong and positive statement for a company owner to make. Mike B. responded shortly after with a similar response. True to their word we have not paid a penny extra. On February 7, 2017, Ohana Construction sent a dumpster over and put it in our driveway with 1/2 inch sheets of plywood to not scratch or damage the concrete on our driveway. About a year earlier one of my neighbors had his roof replaced and the roofing company he used not only scratched and damaged his driveway but also had to come back four (4) time to do their roofing job right. Like my neighbor told me later, he should have used Ohana Construction Inc. like I did. On February 8, the roofers came and stripped my old roof off then finished the roofing job on February 9, 2017. I have a 2 story house and the Ohana roofers worked very quickly and did a very professional looking job with great workmanship. The Ohana roofers were quick, professional and very efficient. When they had finished my roofing job on February 8, they cleaned up every bit of rubbish from their roofing job. I was very impressed they were not only great roofers but they were also very neat. Mike B. had promised before the job started that the place would look better (cleaner) than before they started and he was right. During the two (2) days of roofing work Mike B. stopped by about four times both days the job was running to make sure things were going okay and to keep me informed of the progress and let me know of any possible deviations of which there none. Mike B. and Ohana Construction consider communications with their customers of the highest importance. I agree, as there were no surprises. I was fully informed of what was happening every step of the process. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Ohana Construction Inc. is a very professionally run company that does great work and is extremely sensitive of taking care of and doing what is right for their customers. They give great customer service in that they not only do what is expected but they exceed what is expected by going beyond and giving you, the customer, more than what you would ever expect from a good company. This post is long overdue. When I had a leaky roof, I contacted a few places. Dave from Ohana called right away and scheduled a meeting. Dave came back with a friendly smile, professional attitude and his trusty little ipad which he took pictures of and provided me. He provided a run down of the process, product, timeline, the company and some information about the people. He never pressure sold me in any way. In fact, he always wanted to just add "if you decided to go with us" when he was providing me information. Of course based on the information and the organized manner in which all the materials were presented, I decided to go with Ohana Construction. Before the process/countdown to the beginning of the installation, Dave made sure to give me a call along the way and inform if things were on track and on time. We did have a slight delay, but he did contact me to let me know and politely ask if that would work for my schedule always taking into consideration things that I may have had going on. When we started the process, Dave came in the morning and greeted me each day, informed me of what was planned for that day. He made sure the crew was on track and gave me a breakdown of how everything went by the end of the day. We had a little snaffoo with my ceiling since there was a ton of pounding occurring when the roof was peeled off, my weak ceiling had a small crack. Right away, Dave contacted his drywall guy to take care of it ASAP. The drywall guy came by and repaired it the next day. Not only did he repair it, since the color didn't match the rest of the ceiling, he repainted the whole thing. Caveat: my living room ceiling isn't THAT big, but still, if it was noticeable, they want to make sure you're happy with the results. After the roof was completed, Sage (osha certified) came to vacuum the attic. They wanted to make sure there isn't any dust and debris coming into the house to harm my babies. It was such a nice part of my experience because at this point in the process, I thought it was done. Another thing that blew my mind is that there was additional follow up even afterwards! Dave contacted me to make sure I recieved the certification papers and reiterated the guarantee on the products they used. I'm unsure how they are training the staff members, if its the tools they're using to manage the projects, or if its just that they pick honest, good natured, humble and incredibly hard working people, but this company has done everything right and it felt like every team member went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the ENTIRE process to make sure its not stressful at all. Coming home every day and seeing the wood rot on the garage roof fascia, I finally decided to do something about it before hurricane season starts. I also wanted my roof checked because Hawaii has become more susceptible to tropical storms, heavy rain and wind. That was priority no. 1. I looked up 3 companies on yelp with BBB A+ ratings. Ohana Construction was the 2nd company I called for a roof inspection. Talk about instant service; Tanden called and arranged an inspection the next day! He climbed on my roof and said it was still okay and good for another 5 years. I appreciated his honesty! Well, now priority no. 2 was repairing the wood rot, power washing and maybe painting the house and replacing the rusty wrought iron fence in front. He said he could give me an estimate on painting the house and suggested that I talk to their contractor, James, about the other repairs. He said that Ohana Construction was a full service company and could handle the other repairs, as well. Wow, having one company handling everything would be great! James came by 2 days later with his sidekick border collie in the truck. He said they could fix the wood rot on the garage but suggested putting anti-rust and repainting the fence since it was still in good condition. That would save me a ton of money! I also had problems with java finch that liked to go thru the bird holes in my attic and nest. That problem was solved, too. George, the painter put up nice, white bird hole covers. I had to wait 3 weeks for my project to start but everything was completed in a week! Everything said and done, it was a pleasure working with Ohana Construction, though I had to push a couple of times for updates. I needed to get my roof fixed, leaking. But I specifically wanted a metal roof. So I browsed the internet first looking for the material I wanted to use. I then contacted several roofing companies, many of which did not do installation of metal sheeting. I contacted Ohana Construction and Dave came to my residence and I explained my problem and what I wanted to install. One of the first things done was to inspect the then asphalt shingle roof. He told me that I had damage caused by the severe September 2018 storm, and that I should file a claim against my homeowners policy, which he helped me to file. My claim was approved and I agreed to a settlement offer. I did not realize the complexity of metal sheeting installation. My house has a complex roof line design, and the material had to be ordered by specifications. Jan 2019 I contracted Ohana to replace the roof. Material was ordered, installation commenced after the material arrived. It took a little longer than projected because certain parts had a wrong fit. But as true professionals Ohana did not try to force a fit, they just reordered new material. It took time, but a job well done! During the interim, I was kept informed as to the status of various stages of installation. The roof is done. Beautiful! Unlike asphalt the house is far cooler now. I thought with a metal roof, when it rained it would be noisy. Far from it, with the insulation it is relatively quiet. Since installation we have experienced several storms, some quite severe, we have weathered well. At least now when I walk around the house, I no longer find blown off asphalt shingles. I called Ohana Construction because I needed four downspouts replaced. They referred me to Lucus Rain Gutters (808)778-0900. I was previously given the run around by four other gutter businesses. I called Lucas, left a vm, and he returned my call same day (already a great sign, since most business don't answer or return calls). I usually work long hours, so the first meet up attempt was unsuccessful. Lucas said "don't worry, just give me a call any day you can be home around 4:30." A few days later I called Lucas around 3:30, and said I'd be home all afternoon. He arrived around 4:30, quickly assessed all my downspouts, and gutters, and gave an extremely reasonable quote. His quote was $250-300 lower than my two highest quotes. I hired him on the spot. This was on a Friday afternoon, and he said he'd be able to begin Tuesday. The job was completed Wednesday. I also had issues with where the gutters joined a pipe and went into the ground. I asked Lucas to fix the junction, or make it deeper into the ground so the junction wasn't so obvious. He replaced all four downspouts, and fixed the ground junctions perfectly. His work was quick, professional, and clean cut. I couldn't be happier with his expertise and professionalism. Got our roof re-done! We had lost shingles in a storm a few months ago but hadn't done anything until we had a leak. Chris Spann responded right away, helped us through the insurance steps to get the job covered (saving us thousands of dollars and frustration), and took drone photos to help speed the process along, reduce any more damage to the roof, and keep everyone safe during this time of COVID. (That even helped out the insurance folks who could use his photos to help with the assessment saving them from having to come out to the house.) He even came back on the same day to temporarily cover the leak spot while we waited for the insurance payments to come through to start the job. The workers were super professional and worked hard to finish as fast as possible (even coming on Sunday to finish up the job) even though they ran into some challenges (not of their making). The lighter color tiles (his recommendation) have also helped to cool the house. Total win! read more

There are a few companies out there on Oahu that offer Roofing services. I researched most of them and found Ohana Cont. to fit what I needed. I wanted my place clean afterwards and I kinda wanted to feel they care about my family and NOT just a chunk of money. The foreman, was awesome he came into my back yard and met my Pit Bull and after they swapped kisses so to speak, I knew I had the right company. The were ON-TIME and tore off the old and then the same day put on the New, all in one day and after they left you couldn't even tell they had been there. We were unaware of the condition of our roof until Chris and Dave surveyed the Hawaii Kai area to determine who needed to repair/replace their roof. They did this by flying a drone in our area and identified that our roof had extensive damage from a recent wind storm. They did all the research which took them several months to determine whether they could repair our roof. After several months of nationwide search to find materials for our old roof, their research determined that the material was not available anywhere. After sending this information to our insurer, the insurer did their own research and came to the same conclusion and finally agreed to replace our roof. Tanden was so very prompt and professional from the very first phone call, I thought it was too good to be true until our initial consultation. That's when I was blown away at how easy he made the process seem and he always ensured me that everything was gonna be taken cared of and not to worry. We had 3 companies come down for an estimate and Dave from Ohana Constructions was the only guy that introduced himself upon arrival . gave me his business card and showed up in uniform ( company polo ) .The two other guys that showed up were not wearing any kind of uniform , no business cards , just came walking on to the property with no introduction , I thought they came to steel mangos from our mango tree Dave was very professional and humble He would always answer his phone and explain to me my concerns . Contacted Ohana Construction to get a quote on painting the interior of my home in Kapolei. James the owner came out the next day to give me an estimate. James was very personable, friendly and professional. Ask when he could get started and he said, will tomorrow work for you? I said absolutely because our furniture has not arrived from the mainland. James had his crew of 4 arrive the next morning at 7:30 to start the job. George was the foreman with his crew who all were outstanding workers. Ohana recently completed a lanai and roof extension, new roof with skylights, new gutters and complete exterior paint job. I could not be happier with the result! They did such a great job!
