Contacted them yesterday 2/5/26 for an emergency roof leak repair. Was in text contact with them, scheduled with them to have a crew come out to my house on 2/6/26 for the repair. I told them I would be available after 8am and was told someone would contact me. It is 6:06 pm on the 6th and no contact at all. They are definately on my never call again list. I was able to get another company to come out and take care of my roof issue. I highly recommend dealing with Warren with On Top Roofing, he texted me with a time, showed up early, came out with a crew and took care of the issue. I met with someone from True Home who came over to look at our roof to re-roof and said he will start an insurance claim. He called my insurance company, then my insurance company called me and asked for a quote from True Home and will proceed with what True Home is claiming as damage to our roof. A couple weeks pass and my insurance co. said they never got a quote from True Home after emailing them. After that, I had zero contact from True Home. Chris made the process simple and easy for us - we had insurance, association approval and pool solar panels. WARNING: Deceptive Pricing, Insurance Tricks, Timeline Lies, and Hazardous Cleanup I'm writing this review to warn others about my costly experience with this roofing company. What started as a supposedly quick $22,000 roofing project turned into a weeks-long nightmare of deceptive upselling, insurance manipulation, and broken promises. The Solar Fan Upsell During inspection, they identified code-required items missing from my insurance estimate (basic vent fan, felt layer, drip edge). Instead of just installing the required basic fan, they upsold me on an expensive solar fan for $1400. They assured me not to worry about the cost - they'd help me file a supplemental insurance claim that would cover most of it. "Just sign the change order to add it to your contract, and you'll be reimbursed through the supplemental claim," they said. The reality: Solar fan final charge: $1,413 (double the original $700 verbal quote) When the supplemental claim check arrived, instead of using it to offset my costs as promised, they ADDED the entire supplemental amount to my bill If the supplemental check was $2,700, my bill went UP by $2,700 The insurance money that was supposed to reimburse me and entice me to sign the contract became an additional charge I paid for the upgrades AND paid again for the full amount of the insurance check meant to cover them Thank god I refused all the other "upgrades" they tried to push on me, or this would have been an even more expensive mistake. Contract Manipulation & Hidden Costs Original contract: ~$22,000 Final bill: ~$26,000 (18% increase) Their contract includes a vague clause: "Subject to change due to supplements and general contractor's overhead and profit" - a blank check to increase costs at will Every "helpful suggestion" turned into an opportunity to inflate the bill Extreme Timeline Deception Verbal promise: 1-2 days Contract language: 1-5 days Actual timeline: Over 2 WEEKS (Mid May to early June) My roof sat half-completed with exposed felt and materials scattered everywhere, creating an eyesore and leaving my home vulnerable for days. They blamed "weather" for the delays - skeptical it rained for two weeks straight. Safety Hazards and Negligent Cleanup Despite assurances of thorough cleanup, they left nails, asphalt chunks, and debris throughout my property - dangerous for children and pets. Even after requesting proper cleanup, their second attempt was minimal at best. Lien Paperwork Trap - Why I'm Writing This Review They required me to sign lien paperwork that effectively holds your property hostage if you dispute their inflated charges. Between this and their iron-clad contract, I'm left with no legal recourse to fight their deceptive practices. One of the best recommendations I received. True Home Roofing did an excellent job on my roof. The process was so easy from being to end. They completely stripped my roof, inspected and replaced the decking, then reinstalled the shingles, and finished it with silicone coating.  ALL OF THIS WAS DONE IN ONE DAY!!! I was amazed by their professionalism, teamwork, and knowledge.  There was a small hiccup, as to be expected with any large scale work project. When choosing the style replacement for my roof I didn't know which one to pick . He helped me and explained what is the difference the roof that I picked I love it . One thing I liked about Matt is that he didn't try to up sell on the roof he asked what was my budget and worked with me from there . It's hard to find honest people and he's also very understanding. If you get your roof done by this company and it worked out for you, that's great. For me, the total disregard and disrespect for me and my wishes put me in a position where I would never hire this company for anything. On Monday 7/15/24, a male and female duo come to my door. The bell rang, and the door was knocked on. I looked out and saw a woman with some sort of work polo on. Please keep in mind that I have a clear and very visible sign to the right of my front door that clearly states, "No Soliciting" right under the doorbell they rang. So, already, no respect. Then I open the door to let her know I'm not interested in whatever she is here for. I opened the door, and the guy with her had hid himself to the right of the door, my left as I opened it and popped his head in my face to greet me. I looked through my doors peephole, and I looked out the front window. He positioned himself out of sight. SHADY. So stike two. Then they went into their pitch, I said no, I'm not interested, and please honor the sign I have posted. Done, right? Nope, the next day, 7/16/24, the guy had the nerve to show up and knock on my door again. He said I know you were busy yesterday and just wanted to see how you were today," I said, really? I'm not interested, and it's rude that you'd show up when I said no yesterday. We are done now, right? Nooope. Today 7/17/24 the female salesperson shows up and catches my wife outside and starts giving her the pitch. My wife was playing with our 3-year-old son in the front yard as I was taking care of our 1 and a half year old inside. Funny enough, I just happened to walk past that front window and watch as the salesperson walked by, looked in the direction of my wife, walked past our home and then 2 minutes later was coming into our front yard to start her sales pitch with my wife. So now, I'm pretty ticked. I may be a transplant here, but my wife is local born and raised, so with her and my inlaws, I know to respect the ways of our home here. Which is, above all else, show respect. Them coming back 2 more times after I already said no the first time is wrong and nothing but disrespect. On top of everything else, I worked sales for 15 years before I became a respiratory therapist, so I have a standard of what customer service should be. It's not like that with this company. With no respect and hard sales tactics, I would never do business with them. If you do, that's your choice, but just think about if they are going to be pushy and disrespectful and no Aloha, is that really someone you want to work with? TO RESPOND TO THE BUSINESS OWNER..... Your employees are a direct reflection of you and your company. If they both came at me with their pushy and hard sales tactics, then someone in your company trained them to do that. My roof had suffered some wind damage earlier last year and I was in the process of getting some estimates to have it repaired. Luckily, I ran into Giuseppe from True Home Hawaii Roofing in my neighborhood. He was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He spent over 30 minutes walking around my roof, marking the damaged areas, and taking lots of pictures. This was my first time submitting a homeowner's insurance claim and thankfully Giuseppe was there to walk me through everything. He gave me all of the information I needed to file the claim and also came to meet the insurance agency's roofing company when they did their inspection for the claim. Giuseppe coordinated with the solar hot water and PV team to have all of my panels removed and reinstalled. He also recommended that I get a solar attic fan which has kept my home alot cooler! Giuseppe communicated very well throughout the whole project. He called or responded via text message in a timely manner. He also kept me updated with lots of pictures. We hired these guys to recover a 900 SF outdoor deck with living space below. Paid a substantial up-front deposit and waited eight weeks for them to start. (NOTE: customer should not finance the project. Large up-front $ is a bad sign. Always ask for the start date before signing the contract. My bad.) Contractor finally arrived and we were told that due to previous surface failure resulting in rot, the entire deck surface had to be torn off and replaced for a change order that was 3x the original cost. Regretfully we agreed. Crew arrived and started demo. Found that the joists were at non-standard spacing, a lot of foul language and calls to their office for days, but the work continued. The product used required a primer coat with seam tape, this was applied. Then a base coat on which sand was broadcast, this was done. Last, a finish coat in the custom color we requested. BUT, the first of the three 5-gallon cans of finish wasn't tinted. Crew applied it anyway, and did the other 2/3 of the deck in the correct color. We were assured that a full additional coat of the correct color would be applied the next day, and it was. NOTHING BUT TROUBLE ON THIS WORK 1. It is a total rookie mistake not to mix all cans of finish coat together to ensure the supplier mixed them properly. A professional would never omit this step, but True Home did. 2. During the demo, we were away over a long weekend. One of the crew tripped and fell halfway through the gypboard ceiling below. TWICE. Contractor never informed us of this, we discovered it when we returned several days later. 3. During the work, the crew at first accessed the deck via a ladder over the railing. Without asking, they removed two, 10-foot sections of the railing and later replaced them. In the end the railing removal and replacement was done well, but we'd like to have been asked first. 4. During demo, we were advised that at least two of the railing posts had rotted, but the crew laid plywood over the post bases so I couldn't do any remedial work without breaking through the soffit below. 5. The additional finish coat submerged the sand (anti-slip) and the resulting finish was not as grippy as it should have been. I was on the phone one wet afternoon when my wife went walking on the deck - in an instant she slipped and went down on the deck. Company refused to make it right and instead offered an additional $5,000 change order to fix their mistake. NFW after their screwups, I will pay this arrogant demand. 6. We were assured that the seam tape would not be visible in the finished product. Total BS, despite the additional coat there are still textured stripes cris-crossing the deck every four feet. 7. Three months later I was still trying to get them to do it right, at their cost (since it was their several f-ups). I asked to see another project where the same product had been applied - company response: no can do. (Had they never used this product before? Seems they didn't want me to see how it should have been done!). Finally told them that if/when anyone fell on the deck, they'd be hearing from the victim's legal office. Now when we have guests over, I have to warn each and every one that the deck may be slippery. We paid the full invoice amount (four times the original cost) and I'll NEVER suggest anyone use these guys. No problem with the product, just the application seems to have been done by Larry, Moe and Curly. I'd give these guys zero stars if I could. read more

Great communicator, answered all of our questions, sent several options to choose from, making the whole process as easy as possible. The install time was quick and not our typical island time style experience getting work done. I was on the mainland during the install so Nick sent pictures and kept us updated throughout the whole process, making us feel safe and confident. Be careful of their sales pitch of using your HOA insurance for roof replacement. Your insurance premiums WILL increase or not be renewed. Do they explain this to you, No! It's like damaging your car then claiming it on your insurance, don't you already assume your premium will going to go up at renewal? Unfortunately, for an HOA that has insurance because it's in a CPR project, it is Hawaii state law that insurance is required so when your present HOA policy is dropped, the other insurance companies out there know they can charge what ever they want. This caused a project called Destiny at Mililani Mauka's maintenance fee to go from $55/month to $380/month. Mind you there are no common areas at all, every house is detached. So imagine that the "free" roof is now going to cost thousands in the end. BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE LETTING THEM ON YOUR ROOF! read more

Be very careful when True Home tells you that you can get your roof repaired and insurance will pay for it. Insurance companies now view this with suspicion. Our home insurance plan was dropped because the claim entered with the help of True Home resulted in us getting denied renewal with the inability of our agent to even appeal the decision. It was verified that this claim triggered our being dropped. Because claims that Insurance companies are paying out as a result of the Lahaina fires, and because we were dropped by our former company, we have yet to find an company that will give us a home owner's policy. Last year I contacted True Home to address a leak in the roof of the Kaneohe home my sellers were preparing for a sale. They stated only one section of the roof needed to be replaced. The added a cricket and new shingles. The also provided a warranty. The new owners experienced a leak and called True Home. They refused to address any issues saying the warranty only applied to the previous owner. Interesting they provided a worthless warranty when they new the previous owner would be leaving. If you had not been dishonest, I would have given a good rating. We have enough dishonest contractors in this state. We don't need more! read more

I was told by them that my insurance could pay for a whole new roof and I was skeptical at first but filed the claim and boom, after claim adjuster came and inspected I got the good news that it was approved. Didn't know we had wind and storm damage on our roof. Also went beyond and got our skylights replaced....we didn't have to search for someone. The work crew was very friendly and respectful. Shingle and flat roof was done in less then a day. I've never saw a roofer throw down plastic on the lawn to catch the falling trash. But they did. So my roof was old, out of code, and pretty beat up from storms. I called my insurance company, who (expectedly) gave me the runaround. I got a flyer in the mail from True Home Hawaii that advertised how they help with the insurance process with no extra charge. This was HUGE because I felt intimidated by the bureaucracy of the process. Within a day of calling, Jesse showed up to walk me through the insurance process. Jesse was extremely professional, flexible, and patient with my barrage of questions. I could just tell he was extremely caring and capable at his job. In a nutshell, he represented me to the insurance claim agent so that stress was off my back. What I loved too was how communicative Jesse was, checking in and making sure the process was flowing well. Within a week or so, the claim was approved, and just days after that, a team showed up to fully replace my roof, which they did within a day's work. Jesse and his team also got insurance to replace rotted wood, get new drip edge, and install a solar fan - things that make the roof up to code. I don't always write reviews, but I couldn't help myself with this company. I feel incredibly blessed with my new roof. These guys are SHARP.
