Or Hans Christian Andersen's Ice Cream Emporium of Mystery. Honestly, I was too busy eating to verify the name. I ordered a double scoop on a chocolate-dipped cone covered in peanuts. Then, in a stunning display of self-restraint, I ordered another double scoop on a chocolate-dipped cone covered in peanuts. Each one was $12, which sounds expensive until you're standing there holding what is essentially a frozen monument to poor decision-making and happiness. The ice cream was good. Not "I saw God in a waffle cone" good, but genuinely good. Straightforward, tasty, and exactly what I wanted after wandering around Huntington Beach pretending calories don't apply near the ocean. Service was great--friendly, fast, and completely supportive of my quest to consume enough ice cream to alarm a cardiologist. Overall: Good. Would I go back? Absolutely. Mainly because I still don't know the name of the place and need to continue my investigation.

Don't let the lower star reviews fool you, this is an ice cream to try…read more I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and I'm so glad I finally did. They must use really good ingredients for their ice cream, doesn't feel like a lot of processed stuff. The ice cream was melting as expected and I didn't feel terrible after eating one by myself. It was just refreshing and joyful. They are located on the southern most side of Pacific City. It's rather tucked away. Once you reach the end of the plaza, go in the building and they are immediately to your left. Staff are friendly. Place is clean. They have a lot of flavors, but sadly you need to buy it to try it. I was disappointed, of course, because some flavors seemed really interesting, but I don't dare try something different if in case I end up not liking enough to regret it. There was another ice cream place up north that had the same policy, but they are so confident about the flavors and quality that they will replace your order completely should you not like it. I don't think this place has that kind of policy, which would discourage me from choosing this place compared to their chain competitor just a block away. Maybe there could be a compromise like, try up to 3 flavors only. That way, I can try three new unique flavors but if I really didn't like them I could still have a great experience with a tried and true favorite. Hope the owner seriously considers this because I think they are great and I want them to thrive! Another great thing about this place is that It isn't a big chain and mass produced. It feels personal and feels very special. I admire people who have such a passion for the craft that they invest in it with time and money, so let's support! Especially when the ice cream is this good.

Shoutout to Gus, who made the whole experience even better--super friendly, patient while we sampled, and gave great recommendations. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and it made our visit that much more fun. If you're craving something sweet, this place is a must. We'll definitely be back!

So I'm just not understanding what the fuss is about with this place that's been popping up all…read moreover. I saw the line out the door and thought it must be good especially since they have other locations in Southern California. I tried their 4 scoop sampler with the non dairy coffee ice cream, butter pecan, mocha almond fudge and strawberry cheesecake. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is because the mocha almond fudge was good, creamy, chocolatey with a smooth consistency. The staff were super friendly and the place was clean, like spotless. That's where the positives end. The non dairy coffee scoop tasted like the just froze some old coffee, it was bitter and I spit it out. The strawberry cheesecake had weird squares of what I assume was supposed to be cheesecake but tasted more like a gummy with artificial flavoring, those two scoops were thrown out. The butter pecan I finished but it was too sweet, something I'd never thought I'd say, and it melted almost immediately in the 80+ degree heat into sugar water with a piece of pecan in it. As mentioned before the mocha almond fudge was pretty good, perhaps people get that flavor and that's why the line was out the door. I saw some people get shakes so maybe those are better, but I won't be coming back to give it a shot. Cold stone, Mr. Softee, Rori's, McDonald's, Dairy Queen, etc etc all offer better ice cream options. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.

As soon as you step in, you know you're walking into a gourmet cookie shop -- super clean and elegant. The girl helping me was so sweet and guided me through the menu since it was my first time. I ended up getting two Semi-Sweet Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt (because that's exactly what I was craving), a Tres Leches on her recommendation that it tasted like a churro, and the Biscoff Chip because I'm a Biscoff fan and was curious. The Biscoff was good. I wish it had some kind of nut, like almonds or macadamia in it for texture with the white chocolate, but it was still delicious! The Tres Leches was the winner for me -- ooey, gooey, and it really did taste like a churro! Amazinggg But the Semi-Sweet Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt is like old reliable. You can never go wrong with that cookie! If you're a gooey cookie lover like me, then this place is yours and my new fav cookie spot! Just make sure you've got a glass of milk ready!

I ended up getting off early so I called and asked if it would be available for 5PM. The associate told me "No it won't be ready, it would be ready closer to 6:30." We then agreed that I could stop by closer to their closing time (9pm) since I don't live in the area. I could drive home then come back to pick it up. I arrived at 8:15PM, the associate tells me when I arrive "I'm so sorry it's not ready, I thought you'd be here closer to 8:45PM." I say "No worries I'll come back at 8:45PM." I come back to pick up the cake. It comes out hot and newly decorated with icing. 10 minutes down the road I check the cake, and the icing is completely melted. By then it's 9pm and I can't turn around to go back to the store. The next morning around 11am I called the store to speak with the manager. I leave my contact info, and I receive a call within 20 minutes from the store manager, Dustin. I explain the situation and how the cake is not presentable anymore for the birthday event I ordered it for. He apologizes and offers a dozen cookies or a refund. Since there's no time for me to drive back to Huntington Beach for a party that is in Pasadena within the next hour, we opt for the refund and Dustin states, "This is my personal number, I'll shoot you a text when that refund goes through." A week later, no refund, no communication, no follow-up. I called Dustin one more time, left a voicemail and one additional text just incase. Over the course of several days, still no response. Suffice to say, it is what it is. I just wanted a refund for the cake that I bought which I ended up not even bringing to the event I got it for because of the melted icing. TLDR: product wasn't ready at the time it was agreed upon to be ready, when product was picked up it was faulty, the manager offered a refund that never came and ghosted me
