I've got to say, this is our go to place but Mother's Day was NOT up to par in any way! So disappointing that my son wasted his money taking me here. Of course there was a wait, that's normal and expected. However, what wasn't expected was how unclean and the bad smell at entrance. When walking in it was a nauseating smell of like wet dog. We were seated in the back and there was food all under our table. My son had stuck his hand in something slimey in the booth seat. The food, the food was like they had all new cooks. Wow! You gotta check this place out. Food was good. We tried snow crunchy roll, rainbow rolls, miso, cucumber salad. Hibachi steak was tender and gently seasoned to perfection. First impression, The inside of this building has been completely transformed from the old Traditions into an oriental escape. Upon arrival we were greeted by staff and seated. Immediately took our drink order. I asked for a sparkling water and they brought a club soda. Not exactly the same thing but ok, just added a like to it which I had to remind the server twice to bring. THATS ok. Would have loved to see them go ahead and get an appetizer order right then and there but I was starving.... All the apps were yummy. My only complaint there was the crab puffs were a little off but still good. They do tell you to eat everything they bring or you'll be charged more. This did make it somewhat stressful for me but at the same time I completely understand why. I got the mango sushi and it was very delish. We all tried several different types and nothing I tried was bad. Dessert I had cheesecake and a scoop of strawberry ice cream since they had no strawberries for the cheesecake. 10/10 recommend this! OS' ambiance is beautifully done. What a great make over from Traditions to OS! Cindy, our server, was great. We had the all-you-can-eat menu. Anything on that extensive menu is fair game. We had five different sushi rolls, tempura shrimp, and fried calamari. There were only two negatives:1) the soy paper was not as good as most places, 2) OS would not change the seaweed wrapper for soy paper unless it was stated on the menu. Expected this to be a buffet but it was so much better. Had Garrett as our server. He definitely made our experience better. Brought us so many different types of rolls and dishes for us to try. One of the best restaurants here in Tyler. Their sushi and other food is fresh and delicious. I've been to many sushi AYCE's in Dallas, Houston and other big cities, and Ohayo is a cut above them all. The drinks are also top notch. All you can eat sushi?!! Had to try it just out of curiosity. Fabulous in every way possible. Beautiful space, friendly, attentive staff but not overwhelming, great price for all you can eat and the selection is vast. There are two dining options. AYCE and regular menu. We chose AYCE because we love sushi and have never gotten the opportunity to eat as much as we wanted for 1 price. We ordered 2 rolls each expecting a smaller portion (normal serving 8 rolls, we expected 4). We were surprised when the full servings came out! See photos of Tempura Vegetables, fried rice, Hawaiian rock 'n' roll, Snow Crunchy roll, California Roll, Miso Soup, Poke Bowl, Vegetable Soup. And for dessert Tempura Bananas and Oreos. All selections were spot on! I only have one suggestion. Cut the servings of rolls in half so customers can try different selections. 8 rolls each was more than enough. One more thing, loved that they did the math for me on the receipt. $31.99 each, but that can change of course. read more

Being a Southern California transplant, I grew accustomed to some of the finest Sushi you can find outside of Japan. So, obviously I was at first skeptical about sushi in Tyler Texas. My wife and I decided to take a chance and go to Ohayo. I am glad we did. I would put Ohayo Sushi up against anything in So Cal. Sushi done well !!! Decor is beautiful... Went a year agai and this was very mid-level sushi. They use way too much mayo and cream cheese on some of their rolls so it overpowers any other flavors. The rolls are kinda small and just not very good. When we went they had a limited sashimi selection with no toro, akami, or blue fin. Looks like many people like it so to each there own. read more

I ordered to-go and will not again. I hadn't been to Ohayo before and after reading reviews, thought it would be worth a shot. The wontons were the best thing I ordered and I'm not sure you can really mess those up anyway. The dumplings were gummy, and I've never found a dumpling I didn't like. Trying this restaurant for the first time. A nice twist on the buffet theme. There isn't a common buffet bar to eat from, but for the all you can eat deal you may order as many times and as many different items as you'd like. If you are more hungry, just keep ordering and your food is made fresh. The all you can eat price seems a bit expensive, but does include any non-alcoholic beverage and dessert you may want. I couldn't wait to come here so my husband brought me for Valentine's day. Busy, yes it is. We had a reservation for 6pm and showed up at 5:53pm to stand in a line. The same people that walked in in front of us had no reservation and were just standing at the desk waiting. Finally someone came over and asked if anyone had a reservation. I raised my hand and they got us seated. At this point it was a little after 6pm. We waited on our waitress a while. Again, they are busy. I sit in my booth writing this review. She is friendly and doing what she can. She has quite a few tables. We ordered drinks from the bar only to find out there is 1 bartender who happens to be the manager. We got our food and it was not what was expected. The hibachi steak and shrimp were both overcooked, the fried rice was not flavorful at all. I put everything to the side. Sushi came, only 1 of 5 rolls were decent. We have eaten what we're going to and no drinks still. The water tastes off by the way. Maybe no filter? I'm not sure but that was the first notice of something wrong... the water. By now it's 6:54pm and still no drinks. Finally another guy walks up with our drinks and we have already asked for a manager. The manager comes and asks what's wrong. We tell him about the food being overcooked and that we understood there was only 1 bartender but we've been here an hour at this point and they just showed up and we're done eating. He proceeds to say we were late for our reservation and we haven't been here an hour. I call BULLSHIT on that. We knew they would be busy and made sure to be on time so we didn't get pushed back. He said he would comp the drinks but we had to pay for the food which is fine. He clearly saw what was and was not eaten. I'm bummed because I really wanted to eat here and now I will probably never come back. He let us keep our drinks and I haven't touched it. It was just the way he wanted to argue. We weren't rude about it, just didn't want the drinks after we were done and to have them taken off the ticket. It's now 7:16pm and we're leaving. It took 15 minutes to get a receipt because the manager didn't fix the ticket, the waitress had to do it and she had to wait to get his card to take the drinks off before we could get the ticket. We paid and are now leaving. I hope no one else has this experience! Now my husband is taking me to chick-fil-a to get nuggets! The food was ok. They clean the tables with smelly chemicals, so it hits you when you eat and the food doesn't taste good after that. The bathroom smells too. Service was good. We ordered lobster roll and waiters were stopping by to comment it cause they haven't seen it. The kitchen did a great job decorating it and were able to accommodate special request. read more

This is the best sushi you can get, and it is better than pretty much all of the places I have been. You can't beat the price!! The sushi is great quality and tastes amazing.
