Stumbled on this when nearby. Brought K to look at Xmas gifts for our pets; forgot that they have…read moredogs for sale. Used to be, most pet stores had them. Lately there have been controversies, about sales in general and Petland in particular. I'm going to stay out of that; we have plenty of pets so didn't get one. But K loved playing with a puppy. And looking at the others. The rest of the store is a fairly small selection of supplies (I didn't see any food.) Toys, beds, collars, etc. A little pricey. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable service. Clean and bright.

In March of 2026, we purchased our sweet Ivy from Petland Gahanna. First and foremost -- we…read moreabsolutely love our puppy. Ivy has brought us so much joy, and thankfully she has been healthy and a wonderful dog. This review is about our experience as customers. When purchasing Ivy, we used the Petland Credit Card after being told financing would be 0% interest for 6 months and approximately 4% after that. Those terms played a huge role in our decision. Only three months later, we reviewed our statements and discovered our interest rate was actually **36%**. Not 4%. Thirty-six percent. When we contacted Petland Gahanna, we spoke with the manager -- the same person who explained the financing to us. Instead of taking accountability or trying to help, we were told we should have read more carefully and that no promotional financing had been applied. We understand paperwork matters, but customers should also be able to trust information presented by those representing a business. This was not a small misunderstanding -- we left believing we agreed to completely different financing terms. What makes this more disappointing is that during the buying process, everyone seemed kind, caring, and trustworthy. Looking back, it feels like that care disappeared once the sale was complete. We love Ivy endlessly. However, based on this experience, we will never purchase from this location again and would strongly caution other dog lovers before doing so. Future buyers: please read everything, verify every detail yourself, and do not rely solely on what you are verbally told. Another note is that Mike Gonidakis, owner and husband to Amy, previously worked as an attorney within the Petland corporate sector, which initially gave us confidence this would be a reputable and knowledgeable business. Unfortunately, after this experience, we were left feeling the opposite. We adore our Ivy girl, but this experience left us feeling misled, dismissed, and deeply disappointed.

Think of this as an animal urgent care or ER. They weren't busy around noon on a weekday. We got in, they got the docs my vet had sent and examined her, and things were just as bad as our vet had suspected. We had hoped for an overnight stay and a treatment plan, but it just wasn't going to help much. The staff were very empathetic and patient while we figured out what we were going to do. Sweetie came in to be with her while I picked Kid K up from school. The staff also made sure to take kid concerns into account. They're open 24 hours, and not every visit is going to end like this. We'll keep them in mind for the next time the vet is closed and one of the other dogs does something like eat grapes.

I also liked their availability, extended hours, and convenient location. When I arrived, I was taken straight to an exam room, which was great. Downside: The wait for the actual exam was extremely long. There were long gaps between updates, and I was told the vet would be in "shortly," but it ended up being over 30 minutes. I knew upfront that it would be expensive, and I was willing to pay because the alternative was waiting two more days for my regular vet. Still, the delays were frustrating. Overall, they were much more receptive and helpful than my usual vet, but I would only come here for an emergency or if I can't get into my regular vet in a timely manner.

My issue was on the last visit, the groomer shaved my dog way too close on his private area. This caused a razor burn which he then licked and irritated to the point he couldn't sleep or sit comfortably. I ended up spending $300 in emergency medvet care (visit, cone, topical spray, oral medicine) and when I called to explain so they might update their procedures and not shave so close I was rudely told, Well, you signed the shave policy form. No compassion; didn't even ask if he was okay. We won't be back and I wouldn't trust them with any animal.

It's a better facility than some. The process is very easy. Make an appointment. If you need weekend service, plan your appointment weeks in advance. Usually you get a confirmation call before your day. Easy drop off, provided you had your vet send over all the required proof of vaccinations. Please be specific in how you want them groomed. Don't cry fault if you didn't tell the groomer first. I've had the fur on ears, bangs and tails trimmed a bit shorter during pick up without a fuss. You get a call that your pet is ready for pick up. Bandanas or bows usually adorn your clean pet. Credit cards or cash accepted. Yelp check-in offer is a nice bonus. Add on toys and treats are for sale in the lobby. I have used the self serve pet washing area in the back. Call ahead to find out what good times are. They really try and deter you from using the area that the groomer needs to wash a clients dog at the same time. Off peak times are best. I found it a good value, and much easier on your back than leaning over a tub or kiddie pool. Harness setup. Shampoo choices. Comfy no slip mat for your pet to stand on. Fluffy clean towels, or blow dry is available. I should use this self serve more often(#Lazy).
