Hello my name is Lisa and I am an olive oil addict. Of course this place was on my list to visit. We went later in the day so we didn't have to carry around our purchase. We went down the stairs and were greeted by two employees. They explained the 5 dollar tasting fee which we agreed to with bread. The woman who gave us the small amount of bread to share was not very friendly. When we asked for more bread as we still hadn't decided she gave us half of the small amount we got before. We picked the Basil Lemongrass. Then she tells us its buy two get the third free. So we also get the Garlic Cilantro olive oil and Raspberry Balsamic. Then she instructs us that the gentleman will ring us up. He did...for all three. How interesting that is isn't it? Whatever. The product is delicious but the service was not pleasant. Don't be so stingy with the bread and don't lie and overcharge people, it's not nice. read more

This was an extraordinary display of flavors in balsamic vinegars. We went down a narrow flight of stairs from the street into another underground shop. Leavenworth is full of these curious corners that call out for exploration. We find a very pleasant gentleman offering greetings and samples of any product along with a bounty of information on the products. Vinegar is a product I'm not particularly fond of, but this particular high quality balsamic really turned me around. In a very clean environment, the shopkeeper draws a sample of any product into a small paper cup and gives us another cup with toothpicks and crouton sized cuts of bread. The first one we tried was an apricot balsamic and the flavor was very mellow. The apricot was not really strong and had a smooth flavor. The balsamic started mildly and ended with a pleasant fruit taste. Then we tried the pear balsamic and it was the opposite. The pear balsamic was a fairly thick liquid. It started with an 'almost pear schnapps' but smoothed immediately to a very strong pear flavor that finished with a pop of balsamic at the end. This shop is definitely for the vinegar connoisseur. We left with 4 bottles, one apricot and four pear, this stuff is good! read more

Of all the restaurants and boutique stores in Leavenworth, there are three that, if I miss any of them, the whole trip is basically a total waste: The Gingerbread Factory, The Cheesemonger's Shop, and the Oil and Vinegar Cellar. Our pantry at home is practically bursting with various bottles of oils, balsamics and flavored salts, all of them busted out on the regular. We barely make it through the year without running out of something, and find ourselves forced to order online, or wait patiently until our next visit to this wonderful city. Armed with a toothpick and a paper cup of bread crumbs, you are left to sample the various flavors of the oils and vinegars throughout the room, but do so with this warning: you will *not* leave this cellar without your purse or wallet feeling significantly lighter than when you entered, not because they are expensive, but because you *will* find one, two or a dozen flavors or seasonings that you simply cannot live without. Very Friendly Staff, they have oils, vinegars, some salts and you can taste it all, there is a small tasting fee if you don't make a purchase but that is after the fact and you can taste as much as you want, ended up getting some flavored salts and a vinegar. We love this place and have been a few times over the years. We always find something we enjoy and take home. Their unique flavors, especially fruity vinegars like pear white balsamic and Bordeaux cherry vinegar are so good. I appreciate that they provide you with suggestions on pairings. I don't recall if they've always charged for tastings, but this time they charge $5 for 5 tastings but are waived with any purchase, which is worth it! Come visit. This is a must visit when going to Leavenworth. Everything tastes so good and we always end up bringing bottles home. Our favorite is the Raspberry Balsamic and Italian Truffle Oil. It's delicious as a dip with bread, drizzled on top of pasta or popcorn. I even found the raspberry balsamic to be good on vanilla ice cream. The people there are always so nice and helpful! Located in a cellar (as the name suggests) are lovely metal dispensers of gourmet oils and vinegars assorted throughout the space. All of the vinegars, oils, and salts are available for tastings and the counter persons is super knowledgeable about flavor notes, pairings, and suggestions. I tried a sweetened pecan praline balsamic vinegar on a tooth pick that blew my mind. In addition to some of these funky flavors were some classic olive oils and vinegars that I'm sure would heighten any salad or taste great with bread. If you are a fan of cold pressed, skillfully refined oils and vinegars, I highly recommend you take a walk down into the cellar! read more

We were promptly greeted upon walking in by a very cheerful and professional employee, Taylor. LOVE HER!! Walking in I had no idea what I wanted or what I was going to spend. I love learning so Taylor and I were off to the races trying different Olive oil's and vinegar. I appreciated how knowledgeable she was. I would pretty much try one and tell her I was going to buy it. Then the owner came out, also named Taylor and she was the biggest sweetheart! I thought I was done when I had seven bottles, but then she had me try a few other oils and I ended up buying a total of 10 oils and vinegars! I don't know what kind of magic they have going on in there but it is incredible! After trying all the oils and vinegars I was thirsty. The owner was so sweet and went back and got me a little cup of water which I appreciated so much! To me, that is going above and beyond in regards to customer service. Back to oil and vinegar. I wish I could tell you that I have a favorite, but I don't. Since I got home I have use the southwest lime olive oil, and let me tell you it is absolutely delicious with broiled broccoli and shrimp! It definitely has a kick but nothing outrageous. Absolutely delectable! I wish I could have spent more time in the store learning from them as to what oils and vinegars go together. When visiting Leavenworth, this is an absolute must see store! It's an experience! Let's just say I went a little bit nuts and bought a whole bunch, however, my husband is not disappointed! Awesome little hidden gem! Take a gander at all the different balsamics and olive oils. They give you pieces of bread to let you sample the myriad of flavors of each - as well as pairings they've put together for you to sample. The staff is very helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We bought 2 different olive oils, 2 different balsamics, and some cute little wooden bowls from which to serve our masterpieces! Great find - worth a trip down the cellar stairs! read more

Let's be honest here. Go ahead and take my money. We've probably visited Leavenworth at least five times since moving to the PNW and only on this recent visit did we find this gem. Located at one end of the center, you will walk down a flight of stairs to find this place. You have a plethora of different olive oils and balsamic vinegars to choose from. WOW this place was amazing!!!! You grab a toothpick and as many little pieces of bread as you want and taste all of these awesome olive oils and vinegars. There were probably 20-30 different options to taste! I absolutely loved the "suggested pairing" they had as well - garlic olive oil, hickory vinegar, and lime salt. I ended up walking out with garlic olive oil, jalepeno olive oil, hickory vinegar, garlic and cilantro vinegar, and lime salt. I am extremely pleased and hope to be back soon! I LOVE this place and have been raving about it all week. I was honestly surprised at how delicious and flavorful these oils and vinegars are. I walked in thinking I'd get a slight hint of the flavors they were infused with but I was strongly mistaken. You barely can tell these are even oil or vinegar! I ended up getting the Bordeaux Cherry and Cranberry Walnut vinegars, and the Meyer Lemon oil, all for my mom for Christmas. I know she's going to absolutely love these gifts. I can't wait to try the Cranberry walnut on a turkey sandwich and drizzle the cherry over some ice cream (hopefully mom will let me use some when I'm at her house!) The lady working there was nice, helpful and not at all pushy, which really helped me make decisions on my own rather than feeling required to buy just because I tasted. As others have said, it might be easy to miss this shop, so make sure you keep an eye out for it on the West side of town near the Bavarian Ritz. Wow. 18 year aged balsamic vinegar in all kinds of flavors, excellent price for a such a thing and wonderful service. I really loved this store and went home with 3 bottles for 49$. We took home a lemon olive oil, blackberry balsamic and a chocolate balsamic. The chocolate was so interesting and unique! I think drizzling that over fresh berries will be my favorite treat this summer. We also got excellent service and tips on where the best wine and food were in the area. Any resurvations will flee as soon as you try your first sample. They have a large selection of rich, flavorful oils. Service was friendly and helpful. This place and the cashier gal where lovely. Loved going downstairs of a building to the quaint small store. A great selection of balsamic vinegars, extra virgin olive oil imported from Italy, and tasty flavored salts. Was welcomed to try many samples on a Monday in the last 20 minutes when she was not busy and took out bread pieces just for me! :) I was told most if not all the balsamic is aged around 6 years and the balsamic had a thicker syrup like consistency (which is a nice thing). The balsamic price range was from $16 to 18. Don't remember the oil. I recommend visiting this place. read more

This shop was really cool. Love most of the Oils and Vinegars. Lady was very helpful, but she wasn't pushy. If you had questions she was there to answer them, but if you wanted to just stop by and sample everything she was perfectly ok with it. The Balsamic Vinegar was the best Vinegar I'd ever had. I had never had anything but regular grocery store bought balsamic Vinegar until yesterday. WOW!!!... I shall never waste my taste buds on the grocery store kind again. I was able to taste so many oils and balsamic vinegars and came home with a 3 for $49 pack. (pomegranate, cinnamon peach & English toffee) I couldn't wait to get home to let my husband try them. I can't wait to get more flavors, it was so hard to just pick 3. The options on how to use these are so amazing. We are going to have to cook salmon this week just so I can try the cinnamon peach balsamic vinegar on it! YUMMY!!! I felt the price for what you get was totally fair. We happened by the Oil & Vinegar Cellar and were very impressed. The owner was friendly and informative and didn't mind my tasting absolutely everything in the store. We purchased three items. The Scallion Olive Oil, and the Bordeaux Cherry Balsamic Vinegar (tastes like candy!) were great, but the Lemon Pepper Olive Oil is by far our favorite. My husband calls it the best substance he has ever tasted. It's bright, citrus-y and a little spicy. We're ording more online tonight! read more

This store is so cute and so quaint. I am so glad I walked in. There are about a dozen or so each of balsamic vinegar, infused olive oil, and sea salts. You can sample all of them.... And I do encourage you to sample. You'll fall in love with more than one. Bottles run about $18 each for the oil and vinegars but your getting a high quality product so splurge!!! I love oil and vinegar. This place is setup perfectly. Sample bowls go all around the walls. One half is oil, other half is vinigar. I walked around with the little cup of bread and tasted every single oil and vinigar. Favorite oil was definitely the garlic mushroom blend. For oil they have a really good hickory balsamic, also got a bottle of white balsamic. Took a loaf of the awesome bread from Viscontis Italian restaurant back to the hotel and dipped it in these oils and vinigar. So good. read more

The owner was very nice and friendly. I asked her for recommendations and she was very helpful. There are so many delicious balsamic vinegar and olive oil I couldn't decide which one to get. She said pomegranate balsamic vinegar is one of her favorites, so I tasted it and yes I love it as well. I ended up buying three bottles for a price of $49 which was totally worth it. I bought pomegranate balsamic vinegar, grapefruit light balsamic vinegar, and garlic olive oil. I've never had anything like that before! It was very flavorful and rich. I can't wait to use them all. We found the Oil and Vinegar Cellar in Leavenworth while on Christmas Holiday in 2010. We were so delighted with the oils and vinegars that we had 6 shipped home and took 4 with us. Since then, we have ordered the combos (1 oil and 1 vinegar) as gifts for many friends. Everyone who receives them is delighted and surprised to receive such a unique gift.
