Excellent service team, in particular, the black gentleman who seemed to be the manager. He understood how particular I am with my car. I bring my own oil, and inspect everything after my car is serviced. (I had a bad experience with an oil change place years ago, and it's left me deeply scarred!) Unfortunately, I did not get the gentleman's name, but he had close cut hair and was completely calm, understanding, and soothing. 100% professional. Oil Changers is lucky to have him!! My car had been saying "low oil" for about two weeks. I finally left work and decided on a whim to get my oil changed. By time I pulled up in front of the location, they were closing in 6min. Two gentlemen came out and greeted me. I could tell they wanted to leave but they literally took me still. They changed my oil and flushed out the engine. Such great customer service! The two men who were working today were such gentlemen. I was worried one of my tires had gotten really low on air and didn't want to make the 1 hour trek home before making sure it was safe. I stopped by this Oil Changers and asked if they would help me by checking my tires' air pressure then fill it up as needed. Daniel was very helpful and kind. Monday morning. Raining. Cranky sick baby. Insane bay area traffic everywhere. Cranky daddy, who then recalls he forgot to get the GDMF oil changed in the car (can you call a thing that robs you of all your dignity in the name of efficiency a car? - looking at you you filthy prius ....) over the weekend. Cursing happens. Loud cursing. Then, miraculously, I went to this oil changers. Did I have to get out and wait in some wet, sticky waiting room that somehow smells both of auto shop and expired rhino taint? No, I did not. I got to sit in my car the WHOLE TIME like the friggin King of Albany or something. Did I have to wait long? No, I did not. In fact I waited less than one minute before my car was in the Bay and being worked on. Most confusing, the mechanics were friendly and personable - do they know the damage they are doing to the hard earned surly reputation of the oil change place employee? Someone should sit them down and let them know - the only place ruder to its customers than an oil changer place is BOX DOG BIKES (wicked burn!) Did the mechanics barely look at me while trying to do as little as possible yet still be able to justify charging me for an oil change? No they did not. Actually, the guy was nice enough to pull out my cabin filter from the glove box and show me how filthy it was/is (sorry baby....) AND AND AND how to take it out myself so I could clean it. No one has ever done that in the 3 years of prius-ing I've been lucky enough to enjoy. Did they pressure me into all those oil change place up sells that make you feel like if you don't get them your family will die in a horrible wreck because you didn't spend $23.99 on a new air filter? No, they did not. They were so nice, for a minute I thought I was down the street at Berkeley patients group, cause, y'know. Did these guys totally make my day and surprise me with the best oil change experience of my life? They did. Will your experience be this great when you go? Probably. This Oil Changer specifically has been wonderful! This is the second time I go and nothing but friendly and courteous service. I was only there about 15-20 minutes and they had the oil change finished and they also provided some other basic service which blew me away! So taking my car here rather than big name car dealerships where they charge and arm and a leg and barely do anything. I also need to make it a point to leave a big tip next time since this time I had no cash on me and for some reason couldn't add it on my receipt. These guys are so worth it and more! I came in to get my oil changed and the guys were very friendly and fast. Jimmy and Harry were their names, great guys. They checked all my fluids, cleaned my windows, filled my tires with air, and sent me on my way all in under 15 minutes! My car is running better than ever now. Will be coming back here. read more

UPDATE 2: I received my car back from the other mechanic. Turns out OC overtightened the filter housing which caused it to crack and all the oil leaked out again. I can't believe this happened a second time at the responsibility of OC. There is no visible sign of damage to my engine but who knows how much the lifetime of the engine was reduced. The housing and filter had to be replaced for a grand total of $550! I will never trust oil changers with my car again. The savings are not worth the damage.... the oil change ultimately cost me over $600. Sure they might be speedy and efficient, but with zero attention to detail. Another thing is they forgot to reattach multiple screws on my skid plate (which I've already replaced once this year) so that would have been another trip to the mechanic and another few hundred dollars to wipe my ass with! UPDATE! Welp, I spoke too soon. Within a couple weeks or so of getting my oil changed here, my oil pressure light started coming on sporadically. REALLY BAD SIGN! I noticed in the garage where I park my car that there was oil all over the floor. Which made me really concerned because I had just driven my car from the Bay to LA and back after getting the change, and I was worried I had screwed up my engine. I took my car back to the same OC location and told them what happened. The manager helped me and said the person who had changed it hadn't put the filter back on correctly which is why it was leaking. I asked for a refund or a free change and he said he couldn't provide it and I would have to call the 800 number and ask. Then he said he refilled and cleaned and fixed everything and it was good to go. Turns out this was NOT the case! Just a few days later my oil is pouring out again and the oil pressure light is back on. I've taken my car and dropped it off at a German auto mechanic to assess the damage. Needless to say I am PISSED. I trusted oil changers and now I do not ever plan to return because of the severe damage this could have caused my car due to what seems like rookie mistakes. I will update my review once I receive a diagnosis from the new mechanic, but I pray my engine isn't completely fucked. I plan on holding OC accountable for any damage that may have been caused. read more

Alton & Drew are the absolute nicest people ever. I have to share a story regarding my experience. I was in California last week and I was driving around solo, when my rental (which was in horrendous shape to start with) indicated that the tires needed air. My husband who was in Dallas, sent me a few body shop addresses where I could go to. After driving around and seeing that the closest one was shut down, I ended up driving around and luckily saw the Oil Changers location. I was unsure if they would, but asked them if they could help me. Alton immediately said "Absolutely, we got you" and was able to help me. He saw that I'm about 7ish months pregnant and had friendly conversation with me. Him and Drew took about 2 minutes to finish up the little task, I offered even to pay them but they refused politely. I knew exactly what to do -- and headed straight to the Oil Changers on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley. Not only did DeVonte and Jimmy change the oil, but they swapped out the wiper blades, topped up all the fluids, AND helped me troubleshoot and solve the check engine issue. Don't put your car into their hands. We have two cars and live close to the San Pablo Ave location. We've been taking both cars to this store to get oil changes. No more. The last time my oil was changed, within 15 min. of driving on the freeway, this acrid, black smoke started to come out through the vents. I had to pull over to the shoulder, because I couldn't breathe. Luckily, my husband picked me up and drove the car home, breathing through cloth. The smoking has stopped, but the vents give off a buzzing noise whenever the car is started and the clock on the dashboard stopped. My husband took the car to the Oil Change location to get it inspected. The manager listened nicely and promised to file a claim. He said we would get a call back within three to four business days. It's now been TWO WEEKS and we haven't heard back. I called the corporate office, talked to one sympathetic woman named Sue who worked for Accounts Receivable. Unfortunately, she's not customer service. I've left repeated voicemails for the customer service representative, Tony Campbell, to no avail. The receipt from Oil Changers says on the back that I void any claim of their responsibility for my car if I take it to a shop for inspection, without their prior approval. I'm stuck right now. I'm afraid to drive to car. Yet, I can't take it to a garage. I sit in limbo, waiting for someone from Oil Changers to call me back. I will never bring my car back here. read more

Got here at around 9 am on a sunny Wednesday morning. Both car ports were occupied, but I only waited a few minutes for the two men working there to finish up with one of them. After telling one of the men, Jason, that I had been to Oil Changers before (their West Grand location), and that I would like a full service oil change, I sat back while he got to work. I will say that that's one of the things I love about Oil Changers - there is no need to leave your car!
