This was my first time using Oil Works. I brought my Corolla in for inspection. The Supervisor/Manager was fast and extremely personable. I was having a hard day; it must have been evident on my face. My interaction with him was exactly what I needed. He asked if I was Ok and I asked him the same question. He said that they were pushing through some recent company changes. "Everything happens for a reason", I said. Something that I needed to hear in that moment myself. Told me skid plate needed to be taken off - $10 charge - in order to reach Oil Filter. FALSE!!!! And I asked them to take this charge off, but totally unnecessary to take it off AND they didn't even try to put it back on correctly. They jammed it on out of place so one screw could not be tightened - BUT they just left it that way. I had to take it off, start over and do it correctly when I got home. WTYF. WILDLY INCOMPETENT! Never returning. Terrible approach. What the hell did they think was okay about taking off part of the truck for NO REASON and then not putting it back correctly. I have been coming to Oil Works for years, and I left today feeling very upset and frustrated. I was charged $119.20 for an oil change that has been $84.99 for my past visits. This same $84.99 price is still advertised on their website, and it clearly states that the service includes up to 5 quarts of oil. My car has always taken 5W-30, and I have receipts showing they have always used that oil with no extra fees. This time, however, they used 5W-20 instead. Regardless of whether it is 5W-30 or 5W-20, both are standard synthetic oils and do not justify any kind of special or additional charge. When I asked for an explanation, I was told that my car had supposedly been taking the wrong oil this entire time. That does not make sense because they are the ones who have serviced my car for years. I also reminded him that the 84.99 oil change already includes the oil. He then told me that only covers up to 5 quarts and claimed my car needed more than 5 quarts. That is not true because my Hyundai Kona 2021 sel uses at most 4.2 quarts, which is less than the limit. On top of that, the way the employee explained it came across as condescending, almost as if he was trying to make me feel dumb for questioning the charge. The whole interaction felt misleading and scammy, especially since the facts about my vehicle and its oil requirements are very clear. This extra charge was added with no clear or honest explanation. BLUF: Go here if you need an emissions test, oil change, anything in the way of regular servicing. These folks were closest to me, according to Yelp, so I took a chance. Glad I did. First, I was greeted immediately. Yes, he could do the test, no waiting. There was a 3-car open bay. The waiting room was small & very basic old-style garage waiting room, with TV showing old Family Feud shows. Time? Wasn't long at all (but Steve Harvey is really funny & the time passed quickly). No emissions problem, but they noted the (disgusting) internal air filter & also recommended (but did not push) another service my regular Toyota dealer previously had, for the same price. The Carfax update was completed before I even left the shop. New registration now done; I'm legal. Emissions testing price is, I believe, standardized ($11.50); the air filter ($47.98) and brake flush ($128.99) were less than my regular service; and I didn't have to wait a long time. I don't know if they take appointments; I just showed up at 10 am on a Monday morning, and they did it. I got my oil changed and inspection done here. initially, I was really pleased. The problem came when I tried to go online to pay for the registration renewal. The website said that there was no proof that my vehicle had passed. I called Ook Works who deflected, saying "sometimes it takes a few days for the website to update.. Go to an HEB and they can help." HEB wasn't able to process, in spite of all the necessary documents I brought, bc of something that Oil Works did, or did not, submit appropriately. Cut to.. a trip to the Tax Office. They can't get this resolved either. What should have been routine, has ended up costing me hours of my life, unnecessarily. My experience started with a short call to the office, in which the person on the phone curtly told me that an oil change for my car would be about $85, no appointments. Upon arrival, my partner and I were frustrated with the attitude of the person who had me pull my car into the garage. He was short, kept asking why my partner was standing waiting for me, and demanded my keys in a jarring way, when I started to leave with them. It did only take about 20 minutes for the change, which was nice. I had left and had brunch though, so I didn't watch them do the work. When I got back, I had to wait for the mechanic to get me my keys. Because they weren't in the car like the office had told me, when I cashed out. Upon receiving my keys, I looked to make sure the work was finished properly. I discovered that my engine was VERY hot and I was confused as to why my passenger seat had been laid down so far it was touching my back seat. Overall: The work was cheap, it seems decent quality, but I will not be returning due to the attitudes of the employees. It was a generally unpleasant experience and I did not appreciate hearing the commentary from the garage as I checked my engine and skid plate before I left. read more

I waited here for 45 minutes to get an inspection done. Nobody came and spoke with me to tell me anything until the lady in front of me got her inspection done and then they informed me that the computer was acting up and that they wouldn't be able to get it done until the state somehow rebooted the computer. When I asked them if they could recommend another place they could get state inspection they acted like they didn't even know what Austin was and the guy asked me isn't Guadalupe Street around here? Very unprofessional they could have saved me so 45 minutes and just said their computer was down or somebody could have talked to me while I was waiting there in the lobby. An oil change and state inspection took over an hour to complete. I said yes to changing the oil filter, so they went out and found a $45 filter that they had to order(without asking me). They gave me a "discount" on the filter which meant they couldn't honor the $20 off coupon I had for the oil change because I didn't mention it(dear reader: I did mention it). I went to Oil Works to fix my brakes, but they continued to screech after the service due to being improperly installed. I returned 4x and called twice yet never received the help I needed. Michael assured me he'd resolve the issue, but when I came back, I was told he had been fired. The whole experience was frustrating and unprofessional. Easily the best oil change experience I've ever had in my life. I'm a lifetime Walmart oil change person but the last time I went there they filled my power steering line with windshield wiper fluid (and then of course denied doing it because "we don't do power steering fluid here"; no sh*t Sherlock but you do windshield wiper fluid and if you hired some vape king he might have done something as stupid as his tribal tattoos are. Moving on; Pulled right into the garage and was done before I could even finish half a crossword puzzle. F all the mask people in the A with reviews as lame as they are, I hope they take their uptight bs to Walmart where there's hoards of people and children that are much more likely to get you sick. I used to use oil changes as an excuse to force me into Walmart but now that they and Amazon deliver everything I have less and less need to personally go into one. At Walmart I've had to wait anywhere from 3-6 hours, here you wouldn believe how fast it can be done without waiting on other people's tires and etc. Great service, super friendly, in and out quicker than me in my 20's with a Cancun pro. One of the fastest oil changes I've ever experienced! Brought in my girlfriend's 2012 Toyota Camry that needed an oil change. I was literally in and out within 10 minutes! There was no line, and I pulled right up to the empty bay. They double checked which type of oil to use, and verified that I wanted Synthetic as recommended by Toyota. I had my oil changed here for $145. On my way home 45 minutes away my oil light came on and my engine started making strange noises so I pulled into the nearest auto place. They saw that the ring was pinched during the oil change causing all of the oil to leak out. I had to pay over $300 to get this all diagnosed and new oil change. could've been a much more costly mistake, but all I asked for was a refund on the faulty oil change. After weeks of not being called back, told a check in the mail was sent (didn't even have my address), I finally got the manager to answer my call. Told me I'm not getting a refund because I took it somewhere else (I guess he wanted me to drive back with no oil) and then told me he would call the police on me if I came in person. It's just simple human decency to refund a service that was done incorrectly leaving me out hundreds of dollars. read more

Just a heads-up that these guys are not implementing any Covid precautions beyond a hand scrawled sign that says something like "per city order wear mask". I called ahead specifically to ask if they were taking precautions and they said yes. I asked if I'd have to come inside and they said no. No one who was working was wearing masks or bothered to distance themselves even when it was totally unnecessary to approach me. Leaned into my driver side window with no mask on, pulled my car out with no mask on etc... and I was required to go inside to pay. Very professional and fast working oil change shop! Pulled in around 1:00 PM on a weekday, and was serviced immediately. I usually add 1qt of Lucas oil stabilizer, but they did not carry any, so next time I will bring my own. My truck has 212k miles and burns oil slowly, so the stabilizer prevents that burning. read more

First off I drive a Lexus is350 and I always do my own oil change so I know they messed up. The only thing about them was they were quick. But they never fully tightened the bolt and I was leaking oil everywhere after (luckily I caught and fixed it but that was after I lost a lot of oil, very dangerous). They also didn't put the screws back on my cover plate and so that popped open when I was driving and kept scrapped the road. They charged me over 100 bucks for a terrible job that could have seriously ruined my car if I didn't know what I was doing.
