Im 6 months new to Humboldt and always passed by this place since it's on Broadway. First impression is WOW! I wish they had this in the Bay Area when I was living there (don't know if they do now). But it's easy, effortless. They offered a complimentary cold drink with different options (soda, water) and you just stay in your car while they work on it. They do a 33-point check along with the oil change. They also cleaned my windshield and I did not even say anything or request it. Alejandro asked me how my windshield wipers are. They also filled my coolant that was running low. Alejandro also lubed my door hinges and filled my tire pressure. All together I was quoted $112. They have coupons on their website so be on the look out if you want to save money. Alejandro helped me and he was communicative, seemed to know what he was doing, very kind and helpful, and I can tell he is honorable in his work ethic and works hard. A guy also helped with my service and showed me everything they were doing such as new bolts ensuring I know what they will be outI will most likely be coming here if needed during the rest of my time in Humboldt until I move again. This was my favorite oil change experience I have ever experienced in my entire life. This company seems to be honorable, ethical, and hire people with the knowledge and experience to do what they do! Keep up the good work guys! My Jeep was giving me a low oil message, and I needed an oil change anyway, so I came in. Sometimes this place is busy, but this time I got right in. After he checked me in, he asked me if I would like something to drink while I waited, and he brought me a can of Diet Coke. How nice. Yes, there are a lot of "upsells" here, but they are not pushy about it. They explained that they do not get a commission on any extras that they sell. And anything that they offer you, if you say no? That's it, no pushback. I understand, it's their job.... It turns out that my vehicle has an oil pan leak, so I'm going to have to have it taken to be double checked. I asked them if they would take a picture Of the pan and the gasket with my phone, so I could show it to my brother who does work on his own Cars. They took the picture without asking. The price for a standard oil change is approximately $65, but you can always find a coupons online just by googling the phrase "oilstop coupons.". I did it before I came in, and found a coupon for 50% off a standard oil change. Not bad at all. They treated me right, and I was in and out relatively quickly. I took my sons in yesterday and I had to leave a review. The service was outstanding and customer service was excellent!

If I could give them no stars I would. Here's my experience: Took my car in for its first oil change since buying. Everything was fine, my car felt great I was stoked.! Get home around noon and go about my day. Later I had to go out for a dinner around 6 and noticed some leakage under my car thought to myself a little bit must be normal maybe they over filled it I don't know. Drive from Arcata to eureka and went to dinner ( ~45 minutes) come back to my car and there's a nicely sized puddle under my car I get down and look for a drip and don't see anything so I smell what was leaking on the ground and sure enough it's oil. I call oil stop in the morning and tell them that half of the oil they put in has leaked out and they said they'd take a look free of charge. I get there they're inspecting it and all they can tell me is that there's an oversized drain plug in my oil pan from the previous person who did the oil change. I tell them okay but you guys were the last people to touch the underneath of my car and I had no leak whatsoever before coming to get this oil change. They keep inspecting and the kid comes back with a picture of a giant crack in my oil pan shooting out from where the oversized plug is. The kid recommends replacing my oil pan so I started calling around for a quote. A new oil pan will cost me $900-1000! At this point I'm pissed so I lay it down for the kid and tell him, that my car had no problems before the oilchange and the crack must have happened when they were tightening the screw back in so they knew and let me drive away. They kept repeating that it was the previous person who put in the oversized plug and that those are only supposed to be temporary, he didn't have much to say besides trying to push the blame onto someone else and not owning up to the fact that they FUCKED UP my car I have called my dealership and other mechanics and all of them said that the moment they noticed this oversized plug they should've stopped what they were doing immediately and ask if I wanted to proceed and inform me of possible risks down the line. They did not do that, they mentioned the plug and told me I should take it to a mechanic but didn't stress the risks AT ALL of what could happen. Those kids are inexperienced, straight out of high school employees who don't know anything besides how to do an oil change and now they're costing me money and I can't even drive my car because I could destroy my engine if all the oil spills out. I will NEVER be returning to oil stop and the fact that they're not taking responsibility for their mistake is absolutely ridiculous. They know what they did is wrong and neglectful. Super shady business. The main manager will be hearing from me and I expect more than just more excuses. They should be the ones paying for these damages. read more

I normally only review places where I eat, since that's my area of expertise, but I wanted to shout-out to Oilstop Drive Thru Oil Change today. I took my wife's car in for routine service, mainly because she hates what she feels as pressure to buy extra products and services when she does it. I hate it too, but I had no such experience at Oilstop. Andrew, one of the service techs, greeted me politely and explained the procedure, accepted my coupon (yes, I'm a coupon guy) and walked me through a few choices without any sense of pressure... then brought me a cup of really good coffee! There was a bit of a wait for service Saturday afternoon, so after a while he brought me a second cup, at my request of course. Josh, the service tech who handled the topside of the service itself, was also polite, respectful and informative, and courteously corrected my choice of oil weight after I'd given Andrew the specs for my own car, rather than the factory recommendation for my wife's. I was in and out in timely manner; the little extras like window-washing and lubricating the door hinges were done quickly and unobtrusively; and I must repeat: I never felt pressured, ignored, or disrespected. Me and my partner went here for an oil change. Great guys, Andrew and James were super friendly and provided great service. We didn't feel pressured to buy any other service other than what we came for. They found a cabin replacement filter AND a coolant cap for us, free of charge, which was amazing. We have been going to them for a while for maintenance, and we will continue going in the future. 10/10 service. Don't go here - they change the prices and add things to your bill. Note how they take your payment without you seeing any charges until you are leaving with the print out. Didn't have time to service my midsize diesel truck before a long summer road trip towing a travel trailer. I needed to find somewhere to do the maintenance fast when it started shifting rough through the mountains and Oilstop told me no appointment was needed. This sounded high compared to the time I came through with my husband. Needed it done so said ok. After trying to sell me everything, I denied, it was done. I called my husband and he said it should not be that price. The next day I called and asked how much it would be for an oil change for my truck. I was told $70. I asked why I was charged $125. A couple months ago I decided to get an oil change at oil stop. I usually do all my own maintenance on my vehicles but since I had just moved to Eureka I didn't have any of my tools with me. I made sure they had the right oil for my truck, which they did. I watched everything closely, especially because they said that the price only included 5qts of oil and any additional qts of oil would be $15 each or some whack price. I knew my truck took 7 qts and I watched them put 5 qts of oil but charged me for all 7 QTs. I brought it up to a worker and he assured me they poured all 7 QTs in and I watched them only pour 5. He then got 2 half empty bottles and proceeded to dump whatever was left on those bottles. I told them that I watched them put opened bottles in my engine and he said that they always "top off all the empty bottles" A lame excuse if you ask me Why charge me for 7 QTs and only pour 5 QTs and give me a BS excuse when I call them out I'd be watching them do the work if you decide to use this business read more

What isn't there to say about this place? Easily makes getting a simple oil exchange feel like a relaxing experience, in terms of price there are different options and most costs in this area are the same due to labor costs not the oil change itself, it's like that all over Humboldt. (They also mail coupons so it's even cheaper.) Regardless since the moment I've started coming here I was greeted and informed on anything I didn't know politely and respectfully, I even came in one day thinking that their work under my vehicle loosened the firewall, it was in fact my partner who has bottomed out and fully popped it off. They still lined me up, screwed it back on nice and I haven't had a problem since, they were very busy and it was maybe a 5 minute interaction in its entirety? If you are taking trips up and down the coast I was informed I can stop at any oil stop along the coast if anything seems to be acting up so I simply get serviced before most of my trips out of caution and preparation. The gentleman who answered was very polite and told me to come over, they still had a half hour so there was plenty of time. When I got there, I hardly had to wait and was even given a free drink while I waited. Rollo and Hunter were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable and made the process quick and painless. They didn't put any pressure on getting me to buy a bunch of upgrades which I really appreciated. This was so much better than going to the dealership and having to wait for hours for them to finish! I love these people! Every time we have gone here they are upbeat and always make us smile and laugh. Not that it has anything to do with car maintenance, they make literally some of the best hot chocolate ever. Even some of our fluids that we for sure knew needed to be changed weren't pushed on us at all. I had just bought a 2005 Toyota Tundra with around 180k miles on it, and I wanted to get a number of important fluids changed. I find it important to take good care of my vehicles, and it was crucial for me to know what services had been performed on my new/used truck. I paid Oilstop for a transmission fluid, transfer case, front, and rear differential service. Total, these service cost around $450. Unfortunately, they only "serviced" part of my truck. This past week (20 days after my "service" at Oilstop), I took my truck to get a full inspection by a Toyota specialist. To my horror, he discovered that Oilstop had more-or-less completely ripped me off. The transmission fluid was diluted, cloudy, and not the recommended Toyota fluid. The transfer case fluid was not changed at all (in fact it was absolutely opaque), and my front differential fluid was questionable. The only thing Oilstop apparently did was change my rear differential fluid. Now, unfortunately, I've taken previous trucks to Oilstop. I thought they did an efficient job. Now I know better. They work too fast, and are more focused on making as much money off you as possible than properly servicing you vehicle. All in all, I wasted around $350 on this trip to Oilstop, and I plan on trying to get my money back. DO NOT GET YOUR SERVICE DONE HERE! read more

Went for an oil change in mid-September because I didn't have time to do it myself. The service was quick and priced in-line with what Premiere Oil Change charges for their services (about $70 for a no-frills synthetic oil change). Changed the oil in my garage this morning and found that Oilstop had left their oil filter wrench attachment on my filter, and hand-tightened (at best) the bolt in my oil pan. It fell out after literally one half-turn. I'm not exaggerating - just dismayed and relieved it didn't fall out during the long drives I've had to make for work lately. So... Thanks for the filter wrench I guess? I won't be trusting these folks with my vehicle again. UPDATE: Less than a day after posting this review, Oilstop called me to apologize for the issues I experienced with their service. I was offered a full refund for my oil change, and I appreciate them reaching out to me and working to make things right. The service was performed during roughly the first month of Oilstop being open, and I was told that much of the staff was being trained at the time I was there. For their professional courtesy, I am bumping my review up from two stars to three; I was left with a vehicle in an alarming state of repair, but the staff seemed genuinely and deeply apologetic and was willing to eat the cost of the services performed to make it up to me, which speaks volumes to me about their culture of providing a positive customer experience. read more
