We were passing through Clayton, GA, hankering for some good BBQ. This place had good reviews, so we stopped in. It's a high pitched entryway off the highway, only one way in. So, take that into consideration if you're pulling a trailer or driving a camper, leave yourself some maneuvering room. It gets very crowded at lunchtime. Service was super, Southern friendly and attentive without being in your face. Three of use got the small pork sandwich, one the large. The small was plenty for most appetites. The buns were not stale at all, good soft texture, holding together well from start to finish. The meat was shredded, very flavorful, no sauce on it. There are 3 sauces on the table: mild, hot (not super hot), and sweet. The sweet was like a tasty ketchup, I used on my fries instead of the bottled. The other two perfectly complemented the tender meat. The fries were thick and not greasy, nice and crunchy. The cole slaw was very good, crunchy, not dripping wet, fresh and tasty. Onion rings were about the best we've ever had. Crisp, flavorful, fresh-made, full rings of onions. Not that shredded stuff. Really yummy! We were full but two of us split a cherry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. The kind of ice cream with the vanilla specks in it. The cobbler was delicious, hot, melting the ice cream just the way it should. We scraped the bowl clean. I'd definitely go back the next time I pass through. Drove 60 miles for this "amazing" BBQ as my father in law said. Terrible service!!! The waitress brought drinks then she went and sat down to eat her food. 7-10 minutes went by before our order was taken. A food runner brought us our food refilled our drinks. NEVER saw the waitress again. I paid and was asked if everything was good but when I complained about the service, I got a half way "sorry, it's $59.18". Redneck BBQ place with inflated pricing in return for pathetic service, plain BBQ and the decor out of a 70's horror movie. I'd pass if I was you. read more

I cant confirm this is the best bbq in Clayton but it is definitely good stuff. I sat down in the simple dining room and was greeted and had a coke within 1 minute. Once I ordered, I waited about 2 minutes for my bbq sandwich, slaw and onion rings. The food was good, plain chopped pork with a few sauce variations. The prices were very affordable and the service was top of the line. I will go back if I am in Clayton again. read more

Great bbq and Brunswick stew. Love how they chop the pork up smaller than usual so the stew doesn't have big chunks in it. Will be back for sure. Also kids under 3 eat free but the chicken nuggets are just frozen nuggets they cook. All and all we will be back. read more

Try the mango lemonade and the pulled pork sandwich. A great combo of flavors combining salty and sweet making for a perfect summer day pick me up. Great service with a smile. I'm slowly working my way thru the book BBQ Joints and haven't been disappointed yet. This side of the road stop might have been missed if I had not planned my trip just so. We try to eat hear any time we camp in this part of Georgia. It's good BBQ - not great but worthy of revisiting again. The pulled pork is a bit dry and requires considerable amounts of sauce and has no discernible smoke flavor. Like I said, it needs sauce. The sides we had were good. The atmosphere is extra casual and the staff mostly friendly - although the cashier spent the whole time she was ringing up our ticket talking to someone beside her and never made eye contact or said a word to me. read more

The food was pretty good. Not the best BBQ I have ever had but certainly tasty. The biggest problem was the horrendous service. We sat for a long time before anyone even took our drink order. Probably the best BBQ I've ever had. We came in an hour before closing and they were cleaning up but were still super friendly and served us quickly. Cole Slaw was sweet, which I love sweet slaw. We love to ear here! My husband thinks they have some of the best BBQ! The staff is always extremely nice and on top of service. It's one of those places where they call you by name if you go more than once or twice. Very casual, locally owned, definitely not a touristy/chain type place. This was bad. The pulled pork was dry, the sauce was watery, the porky melt was a school cafeteria style sandwich. The Brunswick stew was like it came out of a can. The fries were cooked well but had no salt. The service was slow, 25 minutes to get this order. The restaurant and restrooms were dirty, like it hadn't been truly cleaned in months. By far the BEST BBQ I have ever had! It is a must have when you are having a weekend at the lake. We always pick up Oinkers when we are entertaining people up at Burton. I'm not a rib person, but I have heard they have the best ribs around! Also, don't forget to grab some Brunswick stew! Oinkers is the best! read more

Interesting place to stop on the way to pigeon forge. BBQ was good and my 21 year old daughter says you get a lot of apple sauce. Service was friendly and I would eat there again given the chance. Got to try that cobbler the next time. read more

This place has great tasting food however, no credit cards accepted. So it makes it hard to eat there. With this place you get traditional cabin feel and country atmosphere. I'd go back to this place but, it makes it hard with the odd hours and cash only. Try this out its a good place. read more

Great Service, Great Food, Great Experience. I have eaten at a lot of BBQ joints in the region and Oinkers stands out by far. The notable BBQ places in the surrounding counties don't really hold a candle to their sauces, and those with good sauces have fair meat at best. Knowing they closed at 8, we called ahead saying we were headed their way with a bus load of hungry Boy Scouts and adults from Florida; they said they would stay open for us as long as we got there before 8. We made it just in time and we were not disappointed. They had all 25 of us served within minutes of arrival and the food was great- no complaints from any of us. I would drive from Toccoa (about 30 miles) for just the Brunswick stew! It's that good. The bbq is some of the best I have ever eaten. The sauces are all good, but what really sets it apart is the wait staff. If you don't feel like family something is wrong with you. These people are just great! read more

My family and I have been coming to Oinkers for more than 10 years and love the food and service. Great portions for the price. They only take cash, so come prepared! The people are friendly. Call before you go on Saturday to make sure they haven't run out of food. They are open Thursday - Saturday and if they run out on Saturday, then they close.
