Fat Buddies is located in an old shopping center building, and is a favorite of locals. They…read morealways seem to be busy. The owner is great, very involved in the community, and helpful with groups who utilize the restaurant for meetings. I do wish they were more aware of, and educated about, food sensitivities. I have ordered salads with No croutons several times, and had the salad delivered With croutons. Because I have a severe intolerance to gluten, this is a problem. Also, it would be great if they had gluten-free bread or buns.

If you like bone dry, tasteless brisket with a side of surly checkout folks, you're in luck!…read more Bought a half pound of brisket (I specified a fatty cut) and my wife got a brisket sandwich (upgraded side to sweet potato tots from fries for an extra $1) - at least on the menu. My very thin sliced brisket (who does that?) did have a tiny little bit of fat (as well as a gang of big, ugly veins most places cut out,) but it was attached to shoe leather. My wife's sandwich was equally dry and unseasoned, but those tots were pretty good, so that's something? It was a pay at the counter place, so when I pointed out they had made a mistake and charged $2 for the tot upgrade, I got a "Oh, that's a typo on the menu" in response. Yeah, until you print new menus, fix it please. That entailed a wait for a more senior person, who treated me like I was stealing from them because I expected not to lied to. The server was polite. Look, I'm not expecting every BBQ joint to be JD's Smokehouse in Rutherford College, NC. That place is the holy grail. I do expect a little pride and effort from a small town BBQ, and maybe not a shakedown at the register. Still searching for a passable joint in this area, but I'm 3-0 so far. Avoid this place, they ain't your buddy.

The food itself is the quiet star. Each dish arrives as a small masterpiece of balance--flavors layered with intention, textures that surprise without gimmickry. In short, this is one of the very best restaurants I've ever visited--anywhere. It doesn't chase trends or demand attention; it earns it through quiet excellence. If you value food that respects both ingredient and diner, make the reservation. You'll likely find yourself, as I did, already planning the return visit. Highly recommended--worth every moment and mile, and we come from SWFL.

Caffe Rel SALTY! Second experience at this quaint establishment. Our first visit was spectacular!…read moreFood, service, ambiance. However, something was off the second time around. I chose the opal basil dish with scallops. I have celiac, so rice was the base for a gluten free option. My husband had the crawfish with cognac and pasta dish. The descriptions on the menu were very different, however the dishes seemed to have the same base sauce. And boy was it salty!!! My husband adds salt to everything and both dishes were too salty even for his taste. Hoping this was a one off and quality hasn't declined. On a better note, the gingerbread cake was top notch!!
