Drove to Tallulah Gorge State Park for a hike. Past by on the drive up and noticed the parking lot was full at 1:30pm. Driving back, saw it was full at 5:00pm, so we u-turned it and went back. Glad we did. Very nice folks that operate it. Food comes out quick. Must have been smoking the chicken, pork, etc. already with it read to go. Duh. :) We both had the 1/2 chicken, two-sides and Texas toast special. It was served dry (sauces provided on the tables in sweet, mild and hot). Had a great smoky aroma and taste . . . had a bite with no sauce to start with, mmmmm. Although the food comes out quick, you must ask for you want throughout the meal as the waitress walks by. They are very responsive, but more reactive than proactive for things such as Tobasco, drink refills, etc. We shared a peach cobbler at the end. The prices are really great and the food is excellent for the price level. Service is friendly. The pulled pork is editable. It reminded me of the consistency of canned tuna fish in water. Was on vacation and looking for a good barbecue place. We showed up about a half hour before they closed, but they were still super nice and gave us a lot of attention. I got the pork plate which was a lot of food. The sides were all very good, we tried a lot of them between me and my friends. Two good vinegar based sauces, and one good sweet sauce. The BBQ here is not good. It had pretty much no flavor. I'm not sure whether we ordered it pulled or taken apart in some other way, but it was in LONG thick strips that didn't come apart easily. And the sides tasted about the same as if you cooked them from cans at home. On top of that, the service wasn't great. My wife and her sister had to wait a LONG time before even being acknowledged. They tried to get peoples' attention. But the servers kept walking past them and telling them to wait before even listening to the fact that they wanted to place a to go order. read more

Overrated. I don't like finely bbq. I got the pork sandwich, fries and baked beans. The beans tasted from a can, the fries were steak fries. husband got the Brunswick stew he thought it was good. Two weeks ago, when we were in the area, we picked up a to-go order from Oinkers and enjoyed it so much, we returned this weekend. On our first visit we had the pulled pork, brunswick stew, and pork ribs. We really enjoyed the pulled pork, ribs, and sauces but the brunswick stew was just ok. This visit we chose to eat at the restaurant and had the pulled pork sandwiches, fries, beans, slaw, and sweet tea (and ordered the coconut cake and peach cobbler to-go). Everything was so delicious! The service was very good, all the employees were extremely friendly and nice, and our server greeted so many customers by name. I honestly felt like I was sitting down to a bbq dinner in a church fellowship hall. Next time we are in the area, we will for sure stop at Oinkers for another delicious bbq meal. read more

BBQ as it should be! I had the small pork sandwich, slaw, and Brunswick stew. I also tasted the onion rings and shrimp. ALL of it was fantastic! There are 3 sauces to choose from (vinegar, sweet, and hot). I went with the sweet, but the vinegar was good too. The place was packed, but the staff worked hard to get our party of 14 in quickly. We were also impressed by how quickly the food came out and how well we were taken care of throughout. We went to Oikers BBQ for dinner a little while back. I think that the restaurant is family owned, it has a very homey feel. Everyone working there was an absolute delight. I had the pork plate with a side of Brunswick stew and corn. The portion was very good for the price. Clearly we do not fully understand the concept of living a few days in nature. While all of our fellow campers were cooking up their S'mores, hot dogs and burgers around lovely campfires... We secretly snuck off the campsite to have dinner about ten minutes down the road @ Oinkers (pitiful, I know). The staff here are so nice it makes it difficult to rate the food. Nobody wants to go to someones house (who is an excellent host) and complain about the food. On the one hand you have fast friendly service, but on the other hand the food was less than ideal. I've seen this place many times, because we travel this road often to visit Gatlinburg. However, every time we wanted to stop for a meal they seemed to be closed or PACKED! This place has a strong following, and is known to be the best BBQ in Clayton. That being said, here's my review: BBQ RIBS - This will say it all... I ordered the 4 bone rib plate and had three bones remaining on the plate when we checked out. The sauce was great and they offer several heat varieties in bottles on your table. That's the good news. The bad news is they boil their ribs first (from what I can tell), which often is not the tastiest way to cook this delicious animal. The ribs here have that gray color to the meat associated with boiling and have very little if any smoke or grilled flavor. My guess is they would be flavorless without the sauce, but even with the sauce they are not particularly good. EVERYTHING ELSE (fantail shrimp, steak cut fries, onion rings, and chicken nuggets and grilled cheese) were not very good. Most of the food we sampled tasted like pre-packaged frozen items that you could pick up from any grocery store. Our waitress was AWESOME and so were the other staff. She enthusiastically asked us how we enjoyed our meal with a look of such high expectation, we chose to stick with a stock answer of "everything was great". What can I say, this may very well be the best BBQ in the area... So what kinda guy would I be to shatter their world... LOL read more

We were passing through Clayton, GA, hankering for some good BBQ. This place had good reviews, so we stopped in. It's a high pitched entryway off the highway, only one way in. So, take that into consideration if you're pulling a trailer or driving a camper, leave yourself some maneuvering room. It gets very crowded at lunchtime. Service was super, Southern friendly and attentive without being in your face. Three of use got the small pork sandwich, one the large. The small was plenty for most appetites. The buns were not stale at all, good soft texture, holding together well from start to finish. The meat was shredded, very flavorful, no sauce on it. There are 3 sauces on the table: mild, hot (not super hot), and sweet. The sweet was like a tasty ketchup, I used on my fries instead of the bottled. The other two perfectly complemented the tender meat. The fries were thick and not greasy, nice and crunchy. The cole slaw was very good, crunchy, not dripping wet, fresh and tasty. Onion rings were about the best we've ever had. Crisp, flavorful, fresh-made, full rings of onions. Not that shredded stuff. Really yummy! We were full but two of us split a cherry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. The kind of ice cream with the vanilla specks in it. The cobbler was delicious, hot, melting the ice cream just the way it should. We scraped the bowl clean. I'd definitely go back the next time I pass through.
