This is our third Haywood Smokehouse location, all different inside, but all have great food. We got the Brisket platter which comes with 2 sides you can choose, and substitute one side for Brunswick Stew for a dollar, which is what we opted for. They ask you how you like your Brisket lean or with fat too. There's a choice of great barbecue sauces that they bring to your table. Food was great, especially the burnt ends baked beans. DH and I found ourselves in Franklin while on a road trip to Pigeon Forge. We were passing through at that awkward time between lunch and supper. We generally choose where to dine based on the fullness of the parking lot. It spoke well that we had to drive around a bit to find a space. DH had a Cowboy (brisket sandwich) and fries. I didn't even have a chance to mooch because it was gone in a flash. I had delusions of a big appetite when I chose the half chicken with beans, fully expecting to have leftovers to pick on in the car. No such luck. We called in an order around 5:30PM on a Wednesday in July. When we arrived at 6:00PM, the order was ready. They forgot to include the barbecue sauce but luckily we had some at home. Now this is a 5-star review but not everything on the menu is 5-star. The hostess told us the brisket was the thing there but it was just ok in my opinion. The fat... perfection. The rest of the meat... meh. Now the ribs. PHENOMENAL. Fell right off the bone just as clean as if you'd taken a power sander to them. Absolutely delicious. The pork also was well cooked and tested great. The Texas Toast was just ok as well. Basically very buttered bread. The Mac and cheese was delicious. And has just a little spice to it. Not that much but enough that people who really can't handle spice may not care for it. And I know why they called it Nana's creamy coleslaw. Because it wasn't creamy. My wife did a little research and found a few options for an early dinner on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We ended up picking Haywood because we have not had BBQ in a while and were intrigued to see they have 90 five star reviews on Yelp and 715 reviews on Google averaging 4.7. We arrived about 3:30pm and it was not very busy. There were a few other tables seated and we could see they have bar seating as well. We were promptly seated at a table in a side room that could also be used for larger groups. We were provided menus and our drink orders were taken. Kayleigh was very friendly and shared her favorite menu items with us when we asked for suggestions. My wife chose the three bone dry rubbed ribs with a double order of green beans for her two sides. I decided to try the Texas Two-Step which is Texas toast with sliced brisket, Andouille sausage and pepper jack cheese. We asked Kayleigh about the sauces and she was happy to bring us bottles of multiple flavors to try when our meals arrived. Our entrees arrived quickly and looked delicious! My wife really enjoyed her green beans, they were flavorful and loaded with bacon. She also really enjoyed the ribs, they were fall off the bone and she liked the house sauce, "sweet red" the best. I dug into my mac and cheese and really enjoyed the sandwich as well. The slice of brisket on my sandwich was surely 3/4 to 1 inch thick. My favorite sauce was the mustard based, "Sweet Carolina" sauce. No, not like the song. My wife had been craving sweets all day so she ended up ordering the brownie sundae for dessert. She really enjoyed the warm brownie served with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and cherries. Overall this was a great experience and we were impressed to see they have a total of three locations. A rather odd location, in strip mall next to quilt store and church, but I'm glad we tried it. Had a brisket sandwich, wife had combo with brisket and turkey. Everything was delicious. Turkey was a little dry, but tasted great. They make nearly everything there, including desserts. Although their cobbler sounded great, I wanted to show respect to my diet. Great small-town bbq place with all of the charm that you'd hope for. I sat at the bar and the service was friendly, attentive and the food was out super fast. They accidentally gave me pulled pork instead of ribs so I was able to try both. The ribs were perfectly tender and the turkey was a pleasant surprise. I got burnt ends and they were a little dry, but still great flavor. Both the collard greens and green beans were solid and I would get them again. Food was good. I started with a bowl of Brunswick stew. It was good but maybe just a bit too sweet but I don't think I've ever had Brunswick that wasn't sweet. I did a three meat sampler of turkey, ribs, and andouille sausage with green beans and coleslaw for the sides. Both sides were very good. The sausage had a nice little kick to it. The turkey was good although I felt it could have been just a bit more juicy. The ribs are not the fall off the bone variety that so many places go for and claim. You do have to bite the meat off which is what ribs are generally supposed to be anyway. One reviewer said this place is better than Fat Buddies. The couple of times I've eaten there it was very good also. It's been a while so not sure if it's still as good. I live in Ga so don't get up that way very often. Although I will say that Buddies has a good selection of appetizers where this place doesn't have any except the stew. So that was kind of disappointing because if I had gone to Buddies instead I would have gotten the fried mushrooms as mine. Either way, both places are good in my limited experiences. read more

About 9 minutes after we ordered our food came out. it smelled so good and I finished my entire plate in about 7 minutes (which is a big deal for someone who can barely finish a side of French fries.) I can't believe that I hadn't left a review for this place. It has been nearly a month since I ate there. I spent two nights in Franklin and, unfortunately, didn't eat there until the second night. I generally take magnificent reviews with a grain of salt. I mean, no place (NO place) gets 5 out of 5, right? Wrong. This place does. Yes, folks. It IS that good. I'm really finicky when it comes to brisket. I like mine lean. That's what I ordered and that's what I got. It was magnificent. They offer a bunch of different sauces. But good barbecue doesn't need it. This doesn't. I did try several. One of the sauces (I forget what it's called) is seriously HOT. So be careful. For sides, I had baked beans and collards. The beans were excellent. Maybe not the best that I've ever had. But really good. The collards were superb. I guess they offer vinegar for collards. I didn't ask for it but the collards didn't need it. They're that good. Superb, friendly service and some of the best iced tea on the planet. Save room for dessert. I decided to try the peach cobbler a la mode. OMG! Take my word: If you don't go here to eat when you're in Franklin, you're missing out. read more
