This is by far the worst ramen that I've had in my life. The pork was overcooked and dry. The beef was like c-grade quality. The ramen was store bought and the broth was extremely salty. Vegetables were like freeze dried because it tasted like it didn't get hydrated enough. As for service - I could understand if the restaurant was closing and you drop off the check. Waitress didn't ask if we needed anything else, comes over while we were eating and drops off the check at 8:30 PM. I've been coming to this place since I moved to Glassboro. This is the best, most consistent ramen place I have ever been to. I always order the Tonkotsu Ramen and sometimes I'll order the pork gyoza. It is always impressively consistent. The presentation is always the same, the flavor is always there. I've ordered a few things I didn't like, but that is normal and comes with trying new foods. There is a very simple solution to that: don't order it again. The service is good, the staff is friendly, and the food comes out relatively quickly. It's always nice to sit down at one of their tables and enjoy a massive bowl of ramen. I would recommend this place to anyone, and if you don't know what to get -- just get the tonkotsu ramen! It's perfect every time. I haven't tried the ramen so I can't speak for it, but the peanut noodles...errrr not the best I've tried. It was bland and had a salty bitter aftertaste? Not the worst but still wouldn't try it again. The tonkatsu was better though. The coating was dry but the meat was surprisingly tender. The sauce was also pretty good. I do have to say though the employees were friendly and always smiling. I had no problems with the service and the inside of the store seemed like a typical Japanese restaurant you would see anywhere with the wooden furniture and slightly dimmer mood. Since the day was beautiful, I decided to take the drive to Glassboro and see what this place was all about. Located on Rowan University campus, the parking is pretty tricky. I had to park a little ways down on the street in front of a small lot of stores. The restaurant was beautiful! Full of art and clean, it was also very quiet. It was not busy and we were seated immediately. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, the takoyaki, and oishii mango slush with the pearls. I do not remember exactly what my daughter ordered, so I will only focus on the food I ate. The takoyaki was delicious! Nice and hot, the drink fabolous, and the spicy miso perfect! Just enough noodles to broth ratio, and the pork was crispy and cooked perfectly. The staff was awesome!! Friendly and efficient, they were very attentive. Side note-Please appreciate the waitstaff where ever you go! From McDonalds to Capital Grille, please treat those in that field with respect and dignity. I've been eating ramen (Real Ramen) for one year. I can count on one hand the places I have eaten ramen. Despite, coming fairly late to the party I can say that it is currently my favorite food and I really enjoyed my meal here. I will go back, but if I'm being particular, the location could be an issue at different times of day based on parking availability, Additionally, I would not be able to bring my father-in-law here with me (also now loves ramen) unless I dropped him off at the front door and returned to meet him after parking the car because of the location. I also found the dining area to be small and dark, though sophisticated and moody. I know people are not gonna love me, saying this, but I think I prefer Riyaki in Glassboro. I can agree with the name of this restaurant, the ramen was oishii! Finally SJ has quality ramen that doesn't require a drive to Philly or NYC. It's not Terakawa/Ippudo level ramen but definitely the best I've tasted outside of the city! I had the tonkotsu ramen and was not disappointed. The only struggle I have with takeout ramen is the noodles are overcooked by the time I get them but obviously that's not their fault I'm sure if I ate at the restaurant the noodles would be the right texture! Amazing experience every time I visit this place! I always order the chicken ramen and today I ordered an oishi taro slush, they always make each meal extremely delicious. My girlfriend is from China and she came and tried this place as well and was surprised at how great the ramen was! Additionally, I am learning how to speak mandarin and I try to practice my mandarin and they also try to encourage me to speak it as well. First off, kudos for opening up during COVID. Also, due to COVID we ordered take out. Can't wait to eat inside and slurp a bowl of ramen when I feel better. It looked very sleek. Got a bunch of appetizers. The best was the takoaki. They are octopus dough balls with Japanese bbq sauce and Japanese mayo. No lie, best I have had since I discovered them in NYC. The pork gyoza seemed fresh and were very tasty. The Japanese wings were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, but the dipping sauce was like a spicy bbq sauce and was to die for. And I'm not a bbq sauce lover. With those three unique rock stars, the shumai was just ok. Then, I had the tonkatsu ramen. Amazing ingredients, firm and tasty fresh noodles, the pork was charred nicely on the outside and had a buttery texture, the egg yolk was done right, and the broth was good. The portion size was perfect and in fact, I began to feel full after only eating half of the ramen so I believe that it is worth its price. The Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream was amazing as well. For apps we ordered Spring Rolls (3 very tiny rolls with no taste) and Shumai (6 very tiny dumplings also with no taste). My husband had Mayu Ramen and I had Shoyu Ramen. The portions were much smaller than I thought and the dishes were not flavorful. I added some hot pepper flakes and fresh ground pepper of my own, so that made the dish palatable for me.
