We arrived at happy hour and had a few rolls. They were all good but the California roll was the best I ever had. Very full and creamy texture of the fresh avacado. Usually California rolls are boring and dry with my expectations set very low. We were very surprised and now have raised the bar for future California rolls. Miso soup and cucumber starter were very good.

Nice place, there was good seating. No line on a Saturday night. Came out pretty quick. Sushi was good.

The food, service, and ambiance were all immaculate. My group had to make it to a concert after this, so our server said, "Say no more." and got our food out within minutes. And our rolls were exquisite. It was also very nice to have so many veggie options! Definitely coming back here again whenever I come back to the city.

On a whim I decided to try this place and I'm so glad! The service is impeccable, very informative and quick. They had the Laker game on which is expected, but the TV is off to the side which I appreciate so the ambiance was chill with good music and good vibes. As soon as my party of 3 were seated we were served water and cucumber salad which they should bottle and sell in bulk. It's so tasty! We tried the chicken karage appetizer, seaweed salad, side salad which was delicious and a huge portion along with a few rolls and some mochi for dessert. All of the fish was fresh and delicious but I was especially impressed by the spicy tuna and the eel. I will definitely be back!

I love this place! I came to this place every year for the last 7 years and it never disappoints. The owner of this place is so sweet and accommodating and they are very caring about all their customers! The fish here is the star, it's so fresh and the cut of the fishes are good size. The sushi rolls, especially the African spider roll and the caterpillar are my favorite. Definitely worth it. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating but come early since it place do get pretty crowded!

Happy to have this spot on Balboa! We got the Notorious V.E.G. and the veggie vixen, along with a seared sablefish nigiri special. It was all delicious! Service was friendly, prompt, and on top of it. We sat outside on a nice day. They even have some pull-down sheets to keep out the wind.

It was our first time trying this place after one whole year of living in this area, what a shame!! This place is so good! The owner is super nice and friendly. The service is great! The staffs are very attentive and always refill water and wasabi for us without having to ask. We love it here and we will come back for more! My most favorite dish is Presidio roll! The ambience is great We will come back and try more dishes for sure!! :)

My experience with their Omakase was really good. Sashimi were very fresh. Current price as of December 1, 2022 is $47 for 10 pieces. Service was super. You better make reservation. But the bar table seems not busy when we were there a few days ago.

I feel SO fortunate to live close to Sushi Bistro. It is an intimate space with only a handful of tables and a small staff. Both times we have been in, the quality, portion size, and preparation of everything we ordered has been phenomenal. The fish is always fresh and flavorful and the rolls are very thoughtfully crafted with ingredients that compliment the fish well. Be sure to ask about the specials, as their fish selection is always changing with the seasons and availability. The accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly staff really is the cherry on top to this already fabulous restaurant. Can't wait to come back!

Sushi Bistro quickly became a family favorite. It was referred to us by a friend and at first taste of the food, the quality stood out. We were seated right away and greeted with smiles by the owner, David and his staff. We were given some delicious pickled cucumbers to start. My 7 year old daughter loves Tuna sashimi/nigiri and once she got a taste of one, she wanted to order a couple more. My wife got the tempura udon which was soothing for a cold night yet the portion was very generous. I opted for various nigiris and the African spider. All stand out dishes. I loved the nigiris so much I've ordered the nigiri 10 piece omakase since so I get to taste various cuts and offerings. We have gone there to celebrate big milestone/celebrations since our first visit and will continue to be patrons.

Awesome. Owner is so nice. Great fish. Great ambiance. Incredible food. Can't wait to go back.

They had a sign advertising a special where you can order two items from a list and it comes with soup, salad, and rice, but we ended up just splitting two house special rolls - the Salmon Mango roll and Rock N Roll roll (tuna, avocado, spicy mayo). Both were delicious. I particularly liked the Salmon Mango roll - it was a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The rolls came with 8 pieces each and each piece was a good size, so it was plenty for two of us. I also got a Sapporo beer (bottle) to sip on. Overall, good experience - quick, efficient service and satisfying meal.
