    chicken plate

Stumbled upon this place while exploring Ojai and glad we took a chance on trying it out for lunch. Everything on the menu sounded so great, but ended up getting the quarter chicken plate. It came with a choice of two sides (i got orzo and carrots), toum (garlic sauce), and manouche (grilled bread). The chicken was not dry at all and was super flavorful. My two sides were also great paired with the chicken. And the manouche was so good with the toum, I couldn't stop eating it. Great dish to try out multiple things. Big portions too!

FINALLY GOT TO TRY THIS PLACE. They had been on my list now for a couple years and I see what all the hype is about. Located in the main downtown area of Ojai, you will find Ojai Rottie tucked away in a corner where they offer outdoor seating. Keep in mind no indoor seating here. We stopped by for an early dinner on a Friday night and it was lively considering it was 6pm. We got seated immediately after checking in with the host. The menu here is nice and offers a variety of items. We decided to split a half a chicken plate and a side of Muhammara. Good positions of food here for the price. Everything was of great quality and had great flavors. The muhammara and pita were the stars of the night, just really phenomenal food. Overall, we really liked this place and will come back again. They do have a nice bar with great wine and cocktail selections. Make sure to keep them in mind the next time your looking for a dinner spot in Ojai.

Ojai Rotie came highly recommended by a few friends, so my partner and I were excited to give it a try. We arrived around 8 PM on a Sunday evening and there were a few parties still eating. We decided to order a half chicken as that was recommended as a good amount for 2. Since it was nearly the end of the night they only had a few pieces of pita bread left, so they gave us some sourdough to supplement. The pita bread was definitely tastier and paired more seamlessly with the chicken than the sourdough. Taste-wise, I enjoyed the garlic dip that accompanied the chicken, however the flavor of the chicken itself wasn't anything out of this world for me. I normally love potatoes but I wasn't huge on the taste and texture of the ones here. I thought the orzo was ok, but would recommend trying out their other options for side dishes. Overall, I'm glad I was finally able to drop by, but not sure if I'd find myself rushing back the next time I visit Ojai.

I left Ojai Rotie so full of delicious food & a great experience. I love rotisserie chicken and this was some darn good chicken. Seasoned so well and juicy. I loved making a bite with the chicken & all of the sides with the pita they include. In addition to the meal, we got the lamb kafta and the muhammara, both so good as well. The staff was great, so friendly & you could feel their care. Imagine sitting at Ojai Rotie on a nice afternoon, California sun shining, breeze rolling through, what could be better? I can't wait to go back here.

    What a beautiful restaurant.

My husband and I decided to take a day trip to Ojai and were looking for a restaurant for lunch. As we walked passed Ojai Rotie, we couldn't resist the delicious smell of the rotisserie chicken and we decided to have lunch here. We ordered half chicken plate and egg plants dish. Both are delicious and beautifully presented. The chicken was tasty, the side dishes were also really good. The service was great. Everyone was friendly and attentive. They have a good selection of drinks as well. The seatings are spacious. Kid's friendly. We were so impressed by how well the restaurant managed everything. Definitely recommend this place when visiting Ojai which is a beautiful small town in itself.

I got lucky! There was no line upon arrival! Fast service & wine bar on site! Chicken was perfectly cooked! Potatoes were crispy! Amazing food! Everything was 5/5 stars! Best restaurant in Ojai!

I went on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait in line for about 40 minutes. I only later found out that if you just wanted to order to go, you could walk right in and order. The line is for seating. Once you get seated, you have to go inside and order and then sit down and wait. I ordered the lamb kabobs, which were absolutely amazing. We also ordered two of the quarter chicken plates that came with two sides each. My chicken was pretty dry and it took about 45 minutes to come out. I loved the potato salad. The orzo was very bland. The harissa carrots were nice and flavorful. The tabouli was refreshing. I think I would go back for the kebabs and maybe the potato salad. Not sure I would wait 40 minutes to get seated though and then another 45 minutes for the food to come out.

Visited here for Mother's Day, highly recommend making reservations ahead of time as the line was out the door for almost the whole day. Food was amazing, Rotie Chicken was juicy and flavorful. Hummus dips were delicious. They are known for their sourdough bread and rightfully so, it was so good with their butter. Vibes are casual like picnic in a park setting, you go up to the cashier to order and they bring you your food.

    Chicken something. Idk.

Ojai first timer. Quick review: will return here every time I'm in town. FOOD: Roast chicken thing. My wife liked it a lot. The cauliflower side was not great. She didn't finish. Usually I'll be all over vegan options, but the cauliflower didn't excite me much either. EGGPLANT SANDWICH. (v) It was raining tonight, and you'd think soup would be a better option, but this sandwich was fantastic. After a quick 5k run around the town, I was hungry. This was perfect. MUHAMARA I live near an Armenian neighborhood. Excellent muhamara is something I'm familiar with. This is up there with the greats. A generous amount of pomegranate syrup and pita is plenty for 2-4 people to share. LEMONADE whew this thing was tart and sweet. Really really good. I had to cut it with a little water initially, but on a hot day, I'd drink three of these. 5/5 SYRIAN MINT TEA Goes with everything. Apparently matches well with the chicken. PARKING it's Ojai there's plenty of parking, the public lot across the street. Walk. SERVICE small crowd even in the rain. It's that good. Seating Is OUTSIDE only, and there are tables with cover and heat lamps, but it's more picnic table style. The person to seat people was not available, but I had already seen "GET A TABLE, THEN GO INSIDE AND ORDER" It's more a "cafe style" experience. Excellent in summer I'm sure. SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF, helped us navigate the menu and drinks. PRICE Average. Excellent flavors and plenty of food.

Vibes: Cute, picnic tables outside/table to order inside Crowd: Can get full but there is plenty of seating Menu: Lots of options, fusion menu Value for price: 5/5 (delicious flavors) Service: Quick Parking: Street parking (downtown Ojai) My friend and I stopped by Ojai Rotie around 7:30PM on a Friday night. The vibes are cute, with string lights and trees and lots of families in the outdoor seating area. There is no indoor seating. You order at the counter inside and they'll bring the food to your table. We shared the half chicken platter, with coleslaw/potato salad as our 2 included sides (it also comes with toum- garlic paste- and manouche-Lebanese flatbread). This place is not cheap but the flavors are phenomenal. The chicken was smoky and juicy, the pickled onions were splendid, the toum was flavorful, and the potato salad was decadent and lovely. Coleslaw was great but not the standout of the plate. Highly recommend for a family dinner or chatting with friends!

Not really sure why this place is hyped. Food: Ordered the half chicken meal with slaw and pommes and it was okay. Maybe we ordered the wrong item? Also got a small order of sourdough boule and that was really good! Wine: I recommend the storm sauvi blanc! 10/10 so good

Outdoor, airy, gentle, soft life atmosphere. All outdoor patio with some patio umbrellas. Kind staff. Very feminine vibe, with singer-songwriter music humming in the air. You order your food and they bring it too you. You can buy wine/beer in a separate mini-bungalow space. The food presentation is absolutely beautiful. And the food itself is good: The one exceptionally tasty item we tried was the lamb Kafka. The 3 meatballs on sticks were so full of flavor! They are a must order for meat eaters here. The other exceptional item was the side of pommes frites - roasted herbaceous cubed potatoes drizzled with a creamy sauce. The other items we had were good and filling. Not exceptional. Avocado toast is huge with lots of avocado and other veggies. It's visually impressive. But not as flavorful as it looks. Roti chicken: the skin is very tasty. I ordered the quarter chicken and expected it to be leg and thigh. But it was wing and breast. To my surprise the breast was juicy! But if you prefer dark meat I guess you have to tell them that. With the chicken you can get 2 sides. Potatoes (mentioned above), and tabbouleh salad, which was my one slight disappointment. It was made fresh that day - which, I find, makes it less flavorful and harder to chew the parsley than when the salad is allowed to marinate in the dressing overnight. Overall a very enjoyable experience. The ambiance, super laid back summer/fall vibe and food make it worth the stop.

When you don't eat everything, salad usually feels like the safest thing to order. I love fattoush salad, so I went with that. First of all, the salad arrived with no dressing; no olive oil, no lemon juice, no herbs. I asked the server, "Do you serve fattoush without dressing?" thinking maybe this Lebanese-French restaurant had a different style. He said, "Hmm, can I take your plate?" and took my plate. A couple of minutes later, he came back with the same plate and a small bowl of dressing. I added the dressing and started eating, but the lettuce was so chewy it felt like kale. The pita chips were thick and chunky, and even after adding dressing, they were still too hard to bite into. I also wanted to try their cheese sandwich, but they didn't have it available. Overall, my experience was very disappointing.

The greenery, courtyard setting, and relaxed atmosphere make it an enjoyable place to settle in and enjoy a meal. I ordered the Mashawi Combo, which included lamb, beef, and chicken. All three meats were cooked nicely, with each offering its own distinct flavor and texture. My favorite was the beef because it had a satisfying char. It's a great option if you're having trouble deciding between proteins and want to sample a little bit of everything. What really elevated the meal were the accompanying spreads and sides. The baba ghannouj was smoky and creamy, while the garlic sauce added a rich punch of flavor to the grilled meats. The hummus was smooth, and the tabbouli provided bright, herbaceous contrast that balanced the heavier elements of the meal. One of the highlights for me was the pistachio spread. It was refreshingly different from the usual mezze offerings and paired wonderfully with the warm bread. The addition of pomegranate seeds also brought a burst of sweetness and acidity that made each bit refreshing. The only minor drawback was some confusion regarding my reservation because they couldn't find it even though I called, which created a bit of uncertainty at the start of the evening. Fortunately, the staff handled the situation professionally and remained attentive throughout the meal. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience with a chill ambiance.

I particularly love their hot appetizer plate that includes the cheese rolls and kibbeh. Unfortunately their service and dining experience recently has made me question if I'll be back again. Their space is very small so a table for 6 people is really uncomfortable. On top of that, their serving dishes are massive and the service staff is unaware how to put the dishes on the table because the table is so small. There were only 2 people waiting tables which caused for a lot of frustration from the staff. They also rarely stopped by our table to clear out plates which again we needed some plates gone because tables were so small. To be totally honest, I was a little bit intimidated by how the process works. But I assume caught on that. It was almost like a chipotle kind of style place. I decided to go with a bowl. I was able to choose between three types of different bases, and I went with the basmati rice and the couscous was able to choose a couple of salad options as well. Luckily, we were able to mix and match since I can never make a decision on getting All three types of greens that they have. Then moved over to the hummus section and I was able to get the three most popular hummus flavors, which I actually don't remember what I got. I know one of them was an olive flavored one and another one was a little more spicy. Then over to the protein side of things, you can mix up to two different choices, and some of the other options there is an upgrade fee. Then removed over to the toppings and these are all unlimited and so I was able to get feta cheese, tomatoes, olives, purple cabbage, everything was so endless and amazing At the very end, you're able to choose two different kind of sauces and at the very end, my bowl was actually pretty heavy in weight but most importantly it was very delicious Thank you to the team member here that was very helpful and walked me through the process.
