    Chicken pesto
    Dawn M.

Chicken pesto sandwich is so good, its the perfect size to share, and the chicken is flavorful and the bread is toasted perfect. One of my favorites!

Dropped by to pick up a quick lunch during my weekend stay in Ojai. I was craving a sandwich and saw Gustos on Yelp. I got an Italian halfsie sandwich and it was the perfect size. Would recommend just getting a half size if you don't want to be overstuffed. The sandwich itself was yummy and the bread was soft. I'm usually critical of sandwiches because it really depends on how good the bread is and this one passed for sure. There was a lot of parking and there are tables outside for seating.

    Chicken breast sandwich

I never got to try Ojai Valley Deli Cafe so I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this was still the same menu, people, and local favorite reputation. The menu isn't too big so it's easy to pick what you want, which can come at an advantage or disadvantage depending on how good at making decisions. I wish they had some more options, which they totally could with their ingredients! They have a fridge with some day old sandwiches for half price: I love that touch! Along with some sides and salads. Another fridge is filled with some yummy drinks and there are a few other treats spread out on the counter top. I got the veggie panini which has great flavors and the bread is so delicious with a crunch on the outside and soft bread goodness on the inside. I would have loved more veggies (besides the mixed greens) in it though. But I'm not gonna hate cause I loved it. My husband got the Italian sub which he devoured. He said it was a great one, and big enough for 2 meals. My mother in law got the chicken breast sandwich which was covered in too much aioli for her unfortunately l, so something to look out for if you aren't a fan of a drenched sandwich. I only regret not grabbing a coconut walnut cookie on the way out! Those looked delicious. The employee that took our order was very kind and helpful and it seems like a small operation because the sandwich chef would come out from the back to grab the orders and begin prep. They got our order out quickly: less than 5 minutes. In the mean time we enjoyed sitting in the new patio equipment outside enjoying the day with other Ojaians that were just as excited for their Gusto food! Ooo and I also appreciate that they put cardboard under the sandwiches when they wrap them up to keep them stout, and they hide a pickle in a bag underneath for all you pickle people :)

That prosciutto cheese sandwich is 10/10 perfection. From texture to saltiness to the cheese and the bread, so good. The lunch box is worth it too IMO, comes with cute cookies and chips. Yumm

    Chicken panini and lamb panini
    Edward C.

Excellent food. Tried both lamb panini and chicken panini. I like chicken one better because of the pesto and avocado. The lamb one taste a little dryer. It's taste like roast beef sandwich. No dine in just pay at the cashier and you can either eat outside or take it home. Great place to eat after hike or bring it for hiking

Special for the day blackened chicken sandwich. Grilled chicken with a regular mayo, tomato and roasted peppers.

I had seen someone post about their matcha affogato so I had to go with my husband to try it. It is off of one of Ojai's Main Street so it can get loud if you are planning to stay and sit. No private parking but there's plenty of street parking around the area. There's limited seating outside. It was a bit confusing to us but it does seem like its first come for seating. Inside is pretty small to order. It is really cute how it's like a mini market with wine and other items. We for sure went wanting to try their matcha affogato which we got. We also got some of their pastries and a simple plate which was perfect for me. Everything was really good. We absolutely loved the matcha affogato. We are really glad we went. Overall, cute place. After having lunch at the Ojai Pizza Company earlier this year, something occurred to me as I sat…read morethere and looked around at all of the jerseys hanging on their walls. I saw some of the G.O.A.T's of the NBA, the NFL, the NHL, and the MLB which were all proudly on display. Hey, Maybe you've heard of 'em... Jordan, Jabbar, Montana, Gretzky, Gehrig Yeah, we all know these Greats and what their individual contributions were to their respective sport/league. Well, after eating the pizza and salad at O.P.C, I can truly say that these jerseys represented more than the players who wore them, but they had a direct correlation to the food that's served here. The overall Pizza is an unstoppable slam dunk just like Michael Jordan would do as he soared through the air with his tongue out. Yeah, The pizza we ordered had the perfect amount of sauce to cheese to toppings ratio and it was the "hook" that kept me wanting more, just like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Skyhook move that was his secret weapon to scoring big. The secret weapon on our pizza.... The Pineapple!!! Now let's talk about the Greek Salad! Just like Joe Montana was put into the Hall of Fame, the Ojai Pizza Co.'s Greek Salad should be added to the list! Yeah, this Greek Salad was the 'Gretzky' of all Greek Salads. It too should have the same nickname... The Great One! (Because Damn was it a Great One!) Yes, every single bite which had the perfect combination of toppings, and a dressing that sealed the deal; this Greek Salad was the "Iron Horse" side dish that looked as good as Lou Gehrig did in those Yankee Pinstripes and it definitely was a hit out of the park home run that complimented our pie. Located right on Ojai Ave. in the center of town, this little pizza shop knows exactly what they are doing. They are shooting for that W that can win Championships all while securing a W both in our hearts and in our stomachs for all of the love that they are putting into their food. So if you find yourself visiting the quaint little town of Ojai and are in need of a quick, easy, and tasty meal, the Ojai Pizza Co. is definitely the G.O.A.T in the area when it comes to hand-tossed pizzas!

The only disappointment were the meatballs. I expected large meatballs like at other pizza joints but they were small little things, unfortunately. So far, the combo pizza is A+ and craveable to the point that I've had to go back multiple times and the club sandwich is great. Till next time... hope to find more good orders to add to the list.

Little Sama Ojai!…read more Took the wife here thinking to share a dish and order small things before the drive back to the OC. Oh we left filled! Located inside the Topa Topa Brewing Company, as soon as you walk in you will see the tap bar, to the left you'll see where you place your order for Little Sama, even more to the left is the food menu. It was very tempting to try a beer from Topa Topa since it was our first time at both these locations, but also our first time in Ojai, but man the heat destroyed me (when does it not) and I knew the beer would just make me even more hot and bloated too. We were at the location on a Thursday late afternoon, not too many people, few people coming in and getting either their after work brew or shoot maybe one before their shift starts. It was happy hour for Little Sama which we took advantage with one of the dishes which I will discuss in a bit. Plenty of seating inside and outside, as well as two unisex bathrooms, to the right side of the bar. The girl working was very helpful on giving us good recommendations which we went with: Okonomiyaki Tots (Happy Hour Item) - Now most places when they have happy hour and these items are on there, its usually like half the portion or something, they gave us a lot, so I am curious what does the non-happy hour order look like. One thing for sure is I am super glad they gave us this much because these were bomb and dangerous. The tater tots were fried perfectly that it held its crunch even with the Okonomi Sauce and kewpie mayo. I usually don't care for pickled cabbage but that perfectly balanced the whole dish that I found myself poking the cabbage and spinning it like spaghetti, then making sure it stays in place by capping it with two tots. Damn delish! Korean Fried Cauliflower - This is to this date, the best fried cauliflower dish I have had, actually lets expand that to the best cauliflower dish I have had. Again perfectly fried where you had a little bit of a crunch but still had the nice pillow-whe feel of the cauliflower. That sauce though! It was so damn good I obviously finished the dish, but at the end my fat boy habits came out and I scraped the whole plate so all the sauce would combine again so I could use the last of the two cauliflower and drench em down! Can I get this some how over here to the OC PLEASE! Top Sirloin Katsu Sando - I don't know how they did this not only were they keeping the crisp of the sandwich along with the katsu, they didn't clash to where it was just to crunchy, they blended so well together. That miso garlic cabbage slaw just really put everything together into just a umami explosion in the mouth. The Krupuk chips were delicious, I was going to knock a star off my review because either they weren't fried all the way or maybe that could just be the chip themselves, but do check your chips, sometimes in the center is a very hard part while surrounding it is the regular chip like texture. The wife bit into it and the shock of not expecting that hard texture, irritated that side of the jaw for a bit. In conclusion as mentioned above I started off with a 4 star review because of the chip, but that was the only thing. I just think putting out that delicious food, having one of those dishes being the best I have had, it deserved a 5 star from me. Imagine enjoying the beer which without a doubt would have some that pair nicely with each dish! This restaurant will be one of those ones that will make it hard to try anything else in Ojai. Why? Being our first time in Ojai, it is hard to say when is the next time we will return, but when we do, why would I try any other place out when I can finally try this place again!
