Went to Ojai Valley Inn after meeting up with some friends for breakfast and someone recommended checking out their spa! WOW, such a little slice of sanctuary. We came on a Saturday early afternoon and started at one of their restaurants. The food was amazing, but service was definitely on the slower side. The resort is huge and has so many activities tennis, golf, bike rentals and more. After that, we headed over to the spa and spent the rest of the day relaxing by the pool. The vibe was so calm, mostly women just chatting, unwinding, and enjoying each other in this peaceful little paradise. We ordered smoothies poolside and omg...so fresh and refreshing. Service at the spa pool was great, everyone seemed to be working together seamlessly and checking in often without being overbearing. For many years, Ojai Valley Inn was one of my favorite destinations. I have stayed at the resort seven or eight times and always considered it a special place to celebrate important occasions. Unfortunately, after my recent experience, I do not plan to return. For Father's Day weekend, I booked what I hoped would be a memorable getaway for my husband and me. I prepaid $5,364.45 for a two-night stay in a Deluxe King with a View Room. In addition, I made dinner reservations at the resort's fine dining restaurant, scheduled a golf outing for two because my husband loves golf, and booked a couples massage. I was genuinely looking forward to a special and relaxing weekend. On June 5, I searched for Ojai Valley Inn on Google and called the phone number that appeared online. Unbeknownst to me, I was connected to a third-party reservation company called Hotel Reservations rather than the resort directly. I received a confirmation email that included Ojai Valley Inn's name, a confirmation number, an itinerary number, and proof of payment. After driving nearly three hours from Newport Beach to the resort, I was shocked to learn that Ojai Valley Inn could not locate my reservation. I presented all of my documentation and confirmation details, yet after nearly an hour of waiting, the issue remained unresolved. I contacted Hotel Reservations while standing at the front desk, and they confirmed that a reservation existed in their system. Unfortunately, the third-party company and the hotel were unable to reconcile the discrepancy. What disappointed me most was not the reservation issue itself, but the hotel's response. The front desk associate assisting us was kind, empathetic, mentioned they will have a room available for us, and appeared genuinely committed to finding a solution. However, when the front desk manager, Morgan Giuseponi, became involved, I felt that very little effort was made to accommodate us despite our circumstances. Given our longstanding history with the resort, our prepaid reservation, and the fact that we already had dining, golf, and spa reservations on property, I expected some attempt to help us remain at the resort. Instead, we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and were advised to seek accommodations elsewhere. Whether the issue originated with the third-party booking company or elsewhere, I had hoped Ojai Valley Inn would demonstrate the level of hospitality and problem-solving that luxury resorts are known for. Rather than allowing the situation to ruin Father's Day weekend, we chose to stay at Rosewood Miramar Beach instead. Fortunately, the experience there was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and proactive. The contrast in customer care was impossible to ignore. Luxury hospitality is not measured by how a property performs when everything goes according to plan. It is measured by how it responds when something goes wrong. In this case, I left feeling that Ojai Valley Inn was unwilling to help a loyal, repeat guest during a difficult situation. This experience was deeply disappointing and has permanently changed my perception of a resort I once loved. While the reservation issue may not have been entirely the hotel's fault, the lack of effort to find a solution certainly was. For that reason, I will not be returning. read more

While the Ojai Valley Inn has that tranquil aura through its architecture and well-maintained grounds, the actual guest experience was lacking. Non-Functional Fireplaces: Despite booking rooms specifically for their private fireplaces, neither unit was operational. Maintenance staff confirmed they were aware of these defects prior to our arrival, yet the rooms were still marketed. The main resolution offered was to use the public fireplace. Chromecast and AC were both very finicky as well, not what you expect from a luxury resort. Noise issues: Mgmt seems to endorse rowdy parties at their restaurants vs maintaining a serene setting. And room walls are thin so if you have the misfortune of being by a wild child, good luck sleeping. There are some nice perks and amenities (grounds are great, some free gym classes (not all), the turn down service (appreciate the proactively cords wrapping). Mgmt tried to an extent to help make things right, but were focused more on their economics vs customer experience. Cool to see a raccoon prowling the outdoor fireplace area at night though. read more

I hate to write this... I brought my sister and mom here over the weekend for lunch. (We had reservations) The service was horrible. The waiter was nice when he was around . It took a long time to receive our food we had to ask for refills and rolls. People that arrived after us received their food in a more timely manner. The food wasn't that exciting! Normally the menu is so inspiring I found it to be generic. In the reservation I mentioned it was my sister's bday nothing was done or acknowledged. The bathrooms needed servicing even another guest mentioned it. I'm really so sad normally this is my go to place! The grounds were beautiful as always. The shuttle driver was a very attentive & kind young man I'd give him 5 stars. I give it a maybe because I know they can be better I've experienced it several times before. Hopefully just an off day. We went to the spa at Ojai for a girls day. We had massages and just hung out for most of the day. It was wonderful and very relaxing. The pools, saunas, and rest areas were clean and cozy. We did a yoga class before the massage and it was really nice and relaxing. I felt like it set my body up for a good massage. The waiting area before the spa service was one of the more impressive areas, otherwise everything else seemed standard. There were comfortable and cozy couches, light snacks, and cucumber water. I had a massage with Sharmilla and it was amazing - the best massage I've ever had! I think I just got lucky with someone that I liked. I've had plenty of massages at nice spas, but it's really just a compatibility issue. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Ojai. The compound was beautiful and it was a really nice place to visit for a girls reunion. The spa area itself was nice, but not particularly special or any more luxurious than a standard spa. I thought the toiletries were slightly lacking and I didn't like the products (soaps and shampoos). I think my expectations were a little high; given the reputation, but it was a still a very nice visit and we really enjoyed our time! read more

My husband and I had the absolute best time ever here. We both loved our trip and felt so welcomed. They went out of their way to put special touches for our 10 year wedding anniversary celebration. The hotel was more than accommodating with customer services, friendly staff and top notch hospitality. The only problem was that we did have an ant colony that was pretty gross but the front desk was very quick to get the situation resolved. The hotel gave us champagne when we arrived in the room with a little card to congratulate our anniversary. The room was very comfortable and extremely comfortable, excluding the pillows. However, my husband and I are pillow weary of the stiff over-thickness. We had dinner at Olivella which was absolutely exceptional. We had a couples massage at the spa. The spa is very nice and relaxing besides a little layout of the spa being very confusing, including the ladies have to walk up the stairs to get to the treatment lobby. The wife and I came to the Ojai Valley Inn for a nice dinner at Olivella and the pink mountains evening view. We got more than we expected! We were early for our reservation so walked the grounds. We wanted a cocktail before dinner. So the nice gentleman at the gift shop let us know the wallace & neff bar next to the restaurant we were going to was open. We met the bartendar Ron he served up some great cocktails and recommend the Anjeo Codigo 1530 reposado (great recommendation!). He and the other bartendar (tall gentleman) were so nice and let us know what to order ate Olivella. We moved over to the restaurant and everyone from the hostess to the wonderful server Alana and her team made us feel as though we were the only ones there. The blue fin tuna starter tasted as if they pulled it from the ocean that evening, rigatonio and branzino excellent! I would come back for that mill & honey dessert any day of the week straight up delicious! Cocktails: Old Fashioned and Tangerine Side Car were really nice! I appreciate that we never had to look up for service. They were there but not in a way to bother you . Rather to ensure your dining experience was one that you left statisfied but planning for your return as you were leaving. Wow what a beautiful resort with exceptional service. We had a wonderful time staying Valentine's weekend. The place was huge and there's so much to do. They have golf, tennis, yoga, spa, great restaurants, a gym, pools, jacuzzi & lots of activities. You can easily stay at the resort the whole time but there's also things to do outside the resort. Nearby there's museums, balsamic vinegar & olive oil tasting, honey tasting, restaurants & shops. They have shuttles that constantly run to take you around the resort since it's so big. House keeping checked in on us 3x a day. And they helped bring our bags into our room while we were at the spa. And they helped pick up our luggages & put them in our car the day we checked out. If you have Amex, they have early check-in, late check-out, $100 credit & daily $35 breakfast credit per person. This resort is kid friendly and dog friendly. It's a BEAUTIFUL hotel with golf, tennis and swimming, so five stars for the location, but ultimately really wanted a peaceful night's rest and a hot shower and got neither. Our room was right below a noisy family with little kids, so lots of running, jumping, and crying from upstairs. Not the best atmosphere for a romantic anniversary get-away. The shower was also disappointing as the water was lukewarm at best. I DID speak to the manager who was nice enough to take a few bucks off the bill due to the noise, but that's not the point. I can't get my anniversary back. I shouldn't be at a high end resort yet anxious to return home to the peace and quiet of downtown L.A. where the sirens and yelling from the street let me sleep better than I did at the Ojai Valley Inn. read more

I write this review with a very biased three stars because I live here. But the reason why I don't give a five stars because of the same exact reason. I don't understand how a humongous facility like this doesn't give local some sort of discount to eat there to have ice cream play golf there or whatever. Instead, you get charged the same price as someone that's coming from out of state or from LA. I feel like they should consider treating the local people with some sort of discount because I can't afford anything there to be honest with you. Ice cream is probably the only thing I probably could even that is too expensive just to have versus going into the arcade and getting it much cheaper. Very disheartening. I went there tonight to take pictures of my daughter at prom and it was hard to watch because at the end of the day place is beautiful, but they only cater to the people that have big bank account accounts. read more

Went back to my car and was able to book a room on their website. Upon returning to the front desk with my confirmation the front desk clerk disappeared behind a door and after several minutes returned stating that the room i had just booked was not available but I could have a lesser room. While nice, this resort needs some serious lessons in guest services and communication, especially when there is a problem. If it wasn't for their concierge staff who helped plan our trip and he staff in the craft cottage, I would give this resort 1 star. There was a problem with our room. We were there for a week. I never heard from management nor was there any follow through from the front desk as promised. We were STUCK! At this price point, this is unacceptable. And while I would like to return, I won't because, if I am going to spend this type of money, I want it to be worth it and I want full use of my room. read more

This place gets five stars because of Diego and Rachel! Diego was so sweet and gave us a rides when we waited with no shuttle coming. He even told management that our dinner at Rory's was a told bust leaving us at 11:30 at night with no food as they didn't put in our orders. In response, the hotel sent us champagne and strawberries as they wanted our stay to be wonderful. Rachel took care of us at the spa pool and in the spa caffe. There are a few cons- 1. Shuttle service only comes when you don't need it and it's not scorching despite calling the operator. 2. There is like 1 water area hidden in the spa, unlike every other spa I have been to where there's water every turn. 3. It was near impossible to get water at the smaller spa pool. 4. The smaller spa pool food service was bad. For over an hour I had to remind the guy I ordered pita and hummus, then he never brought the peaches I ordered so I gave up after two hours. 4. While she tried, the massage therapist doing deep tissue couldn't go that deep. She was also lovely otherwise but for 75 min booked as deep tissue, she should be able to get in. The property is amazing. If you haven't been before, it's a must whenever you're in Ojai. Even for a drink or a meal. The beautiful drive to the front of the property, and then greeted by the valet. Or if you choose to self park. Everything about this property is amazing. There's loads of spots that you can lounge and just enjoy the moment. Seating throughout the property, along the course, near a fire pit and so on. Drinks and food is great wherever you choose to grab a bite. And not the miss the sunset, pink hour I believe they call it. Grab a drink and just enjoy the sunset. And they're pet friendly, which is a plus. read more

We have been coming to Ojai Valley Inn for 10 years and now with kids our trips have become more frequent, multiple times a year. It has become our go-to place to spend weekends and/or a week (Spring Break). Golf: Beautiful course and challenging enough. Camp Oak: our eldest is 4 years old now and he loves it. Spends half a day (though they have camp all day if you want) then we go off and do other things. Pixie Pool (kids pool): usually not too busy but worthwhile for a cabana in the Summer. Wish it were warmer like the adult pool, Indigo. The Oak: primary restaurant. Book ahead of time since it gets busy. Olivella: book ahead of time for a fancy multicourse meal adventure. Spa: stay there all day if you can The Farmhouse: plan ahead of time if your trip can be there during one of their dining experiences. There's plenty more I could say if I had time. It's great, tons of things to do regardless of your phase in life. Holidays are especially fantastic for the kids. This should be 5 stars but looking at the reviews it seems to be skewed down for one off bad experiences and/or lack of planning. This place is a gem. read more

We had brunch with friends at the Oak restaurant. It was a pleasant setting even on a hot day. Food was decent & juices were good. We had the green ones (with cucumber & celery) & the orange ones (with carrots). Coffee comes with some of the breakfast & Brunch items. Blueberry pancakes were good without being overly sweet. Omelets, eggs Benedict, traditional breakfasts, & healthy option omelet were all good & well presented. The inn itself has a lot of history & is a pretty place to stroll around before or after a meal. It was a hot day but still had many people in the restaurant & on the gold course. Definitely recommend this restaurant & inn. The nightly rates are high so I don't see myself staying here, especially when I live only about 100 miles away, but will be back for brunch. read more

She caused me $40K in medical bills for a neck injury and possibly permanent occipital neuralgia. One of my favorite resorts in Southern California for a quick getaway. Ojai is a beautiful small city located in Ventura county. I absolutely love coming here year after year either for a daytrip or an overnight stay. I always chose Ojai Valley Inn cause it's the best . The perfect location with great amenities. The resort is very relaxing, with a wonderful spa, restaurants, coffee shop and bars. The pool areas are nice and fun to be at. The summer months are great here but have slightly higher rates per night. The spring and the fall season is beautiful with great landscaping and lots of activities for families. The food at the restaurants is fresh and delicious . Customer service is great. Overall a wonderful place to stay at any time of the year. read more

One of the most beautiful and magical properties that I have ever stayed in. It was easily one of the most relaxed stays I've had across my travels. The place is spectacular and well maintained. (My room was a little dusty.. but after a night or two it got much better.) The service is top notch and some of the best I've seen. The staff is attentive and kind. The grounds are stunning... just walking around brings a sense of peace and immersion into the local area. There are also a lot activities to do on site so you technically don't have to leave the property (nor do you want to). I would absolutely stay here again. This place is weird. For what you pay you expect it to be absolutely top notch. I will say this the staff is super friendly, they remembered my name and said the right things. That is where all the good ends. The actual service is atrocious. 1. The housekeepers are terrible. Because no one came to pick up my room service tray even after calling I carried it out to leave in front of the room but in doing some one plate fell and shattered by the door with glass going everywhere including the bathroom. When this happened one of the house keepers was actually walking by, she immediately got a broom so we assumed she would clean it. We were on our way out to dinner. Well we came back 2 hours later the only thing different was the beds were made , glass was still everywhere as if she did nothing. One top of that one of the pillows had a stain on it, looks like dried fruit hell it could have been blood who knows. I have had to call the front desk atleast 5 times because they either didn't clean the room, didn't leave fresh towels or toilet paper or didn't pick up the room service trays. 2. The food is extremely hit or miss , the service at the oak tavern was god awful , our meal took over an hour to come and the scallops were horrible, like they were boiled not seared and extra fishy. The dish came with 3 and some polenta. I ate half of one and felt like I would be sick and didn't touch the rest, it was like 47-50 bucks. Didn't bother complaining it would take another hour to even address the issue. 3. The grounds are beautiful but there was just the bad storm and I heard there was even a power outrage at the property. On the golf course you could see actual trees blown over yet they kept the course open but for some odd reason they closed the driving range. There was no issue with the driving range but I think they closed it to force people to play the course instead because they could make more money but the course was full of blown over trees it made absolutely no sense.... One of the troller drivers told me when the power went out it was for 12 hours and a lot of guest left and had to get refunds I'm sure they needed to make their money back some how. 4. The Christmas tree looks amazing but remember how I said there was a bad storm, well said storm damaged a lot of the ornaments on the tree causing them to fall and shatter all over the ground. Every day kids are around the tree playing and rolling in the grass. Last night the kids were playing football and my nephew fell on the grass and almost had his face cut up by a broken ornament. It makes absolutely no sense how a supposed 5 resort does not clean up or block off an area because of this issue. It's like they just care about getting as many people here to make money. We basically have decided that we will never come back here, the staff is nice really nice but that can only take you so far. The service is terrible, the food is not that great (mind you they supposedly have world renowned chefs come in and do cooking classes, none were scheduled for this week the we are here) and although the property looks amazing the issues with the upkeep and cleanliness are absolutely alarming. I am sitting in my room typing this now, I check out tomorrow. I've read a lot of reviews before I wrote this and the consensus is the service has gone down hill, I wouldn't have written this review but since so many people are saying the same thing I hope the management takes a look and makes some changes. I treated myself to a New Year facial at the Ojai Spa and unfortunately I would not recommend the experience. I called after to try to understand why the side of my hair above my ear had been shaved!!!. It took three calls and a voicemail and when I finally spoke to someone was told leadership would have to call me back when I heard a voicemail from leadership a couple of days later I was told that I had a "reaction" to their service. The only reaction I had was expecting that a $350+ facial would leave me a smooth face not stubble hair growing over my ear for new years that is still uncomfortable for no reason. I suspect the vast majority of guests that leave 5-star reviews did not pay for their stay or they were part of a large group and got comped (free). The last three times we have stayed here there is always something wrong with the room: broken AC, broken spa tub, loud noises emanating from a service room. At nearly $1000 per night for the cheapest room after resort taxes I expect a higher level of service and a stellar experience. Never again. read more

If you just want to come and enjoy the scenery then it's great but if you expect any sort of service this isn't the place for you. For the amount of money a room costs I would expect them to be able to call you a cab, etc. but they were unable, or perhaps unwilling, to do anything extra at all like other high-end places. I was disappointed. They put me in a room in Los Padres that was close to the surprisingly noisy Hwy 33. And there were mosquitoes. When I asked to change rooms, the front desk put me in a room directly below the Party Pavilion in Shangri-La (Thumpa, Thumpa, Thumpa). The only recourse was to leave early. (and BTW, changing rooms is a hassle). So no serenity, no healing. read more

Turndown for what!!! Their PM turndown service is frikking fantastic! Everything from eucalyptus essential spray for a night time bath/shower, robe folded on the bed, Ojai Valley branded charging cord tie, eyeglasses cleaning cloth, and the bed tightly made. The Ojai Valley Inn will cost you your left nut, but it's worth it. It's a little oasis where you can breathe. Time moves slow, as it is meant to. The Good: Khaled, the concierge, is actually the GOAT. So helpful at all hours of the day. My boy fr always on the clock. Anything we needed, Khaled was there. I LOVE a great concierge. The Ojai Valley Inn is a part of the hills at this point. It's built into the mountains. It compliments nature. It reminds me of the fictional Monadnock Valley in Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead." It's a place where man and nature can coexist, with man giving meaning to nature, and nature being incomplete without man. This staff is the LeBron of turndown service. Wow. The room would be SPOTLESS, and the real highlight was my corded headphones and chargers would be wrapped up beautifully in this little Ojai Valley Inn wire holder thingy. It was unreal. Damn it's nice to be spoiled sometimes. Breakfast buffet was PHENOMENAL. I legit had 2 omelettes from the omelette guy, along with 2 other full plates. It put me in a straight food coma, but so worth it. You can buy a cocktail from Jimmy's Pub and take it anywhere on the property. It's a little oasis. A little slice of freedom. Everyone is trying to regulate everything nowadays, so this was a breath of fresh air. The Bad: The pickleball/tennis guy SUCKED. We were frustrated that we had to pay $10 to rent "court shoes" (that other peoples feet had clearly been sweating profusely in) as it was, but he became straight up combative. He legit said, and I quote, "Statistically, pickleball is the most dangerous sport in the world. I just give you facts." I thought him and my pops were gonna throw hands at one point lol. We canceled the rest of our pickleball reservations after the first one solely because of him, and this family LOVES pickleball. It was completely out of line with the rest of our experience. When we got to knowing other people at the resort, they started talking about how unprofessional he was without us even bringing it up lmao. Terrible experience -- extremely disappointed. The staff was not nice at all: unfriendly, cold, and unprofessional from the start. There was no genuine hospitality and no effort to make guests feel welcome. What makes it worse is that an upgrade was supposed to be provided / was clearly stated, but it was not honored. Also, the complimentary service/item that should have been included was not brought until we asked -- and we had to push for it. The atmosphere was awful. The room/space felt damp, and guests literally smelled like humidity/mold. The entire vibe was unpleasant and uncomfortable. And unfortunately, the food was just as bad. Breakfast was terrible -- the oysters tasted old and not fresh at all. For a place trying to position itself as upscale, this is unacceptable. Not recommended!!!!! read more

This is my very trip to Ojai and Ojai Valley Inn was one of our first stops for linner. After visiting our friend Holly in Rancho Matilija. What an absolute stunning hotel, spa, and grounds. Cottage and lush trees stretch for acres: we were driven in golf carts all-around so much fun! We dropped in for linner on the lawn that stretches beyond where the eye can see: in 84 degree weather prior to storm Hillary arriving. And 10 mins early at that, but the staff was kind and served us regardless. Our mock tails where delicious, as well as the humus dip and cucumber salad finger foods. There was a wedding down the way, where a bevy of folks in elegant attire strolled the lawns for someone's special day. Really gorgeous setting, and ideas for future events. Children ran abt the lawn, parents where carrying their golf clubs, and we lounged by the fire pits. Lamps swung in the wind, handing from the long limbs of 200yr old California oak trees. Truly the utmost, elegance and such an escape into utopia. I may return back here for 3 months, if work is sluggish but it's never a bad idea for a summer/autumn get-away. Gorgeous! read more

We went to Ojai Valley Inn for a spa day, or really, a spa afternoon. We were so pressed for time that we didn't have a chance to fully enjoy the facilities. If we had more time, I could have stayed at the spa all day...or for forever. The spa facilities were great. In addition to the standard hot tub, steam room and sauna, they also had an infrared sauna. The infrared sauna is small (two people max!) but it's hard to stay in there for too long so the wait isn't very long. The facilities in the changing room are also great with everything you could need to get ready post-spa. I had a relaxation spa, but my masseuse, Patricia, noticed that it had gone from a deep tissue to a relaxation massage so she wanted to know what I really wanted and was open to adapting her style. She also used aromatherapy (included with the massage) which I don't care for much but she did a wonderful job explaining what the different aromas were and how they would be used during the massage. The massage was great, particularly the head and neck massage. read more
