Great place to stay and has a cozy common area to hang in. Rooms were great and staff were very helpful and nice.

Have you ever floated in the sunlight with a glass of wine? Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hummingbird Inn! From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and made check-in a breeze. The inn has a quiet, peaceful vibe that made it the perfect mid-week escape. We stayed in a charming bungalow with only one other room attached, offering just the right amount of privacy. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and the beds were super comfortable. The stylish pool was a lovely spot to unwind, and the bikes available for guests made exploring town fun and easy. Ojai is flowing with wine. Pedal with caution. The Hummingbird Inn offers a lot of value at an affordable price. I'm already planning to come back for a girls' getaway soon!

I had a wonderful stay at the Hummingbird Inn. In my opinion, the hotel was tastefully renovated. The lobby is cozy and curated and the grounds manicured. There is a lot of outdoor seating to soak in the sun and enjoy the serenity. The room smelled a little mildewy but that's understandable because it's an older hotel. Otherwise, the room was comfortable. I love the attention to detail: interior design/ color palette, dimmable and warming lighting, energy-efficient air-conditioning & heating, eco-conscious Plant Paper toilet paper!, and their very own line of bath amenities! I loved the body and hair care products so much so that I bought my own set. I enjoyed the complimentary morning coffee (Canyon Coffee) with the scent of burning palo santo. I look forward to my next stay! Other things to note: Parking is free. The pet fee is $40 per night, which includes pet bowls and a welcome treat. Pet relief lawn looks maintained. My only complaints are the lack of sound insulation and the outdated shower.

the living room area (with a tv and an armless couch)

My partner and I are pretty chill travelers and splurged on the king suite here for our anniversary trip. There aren't many photos of it online (I think because it was recently renovated) but it was kind of a let down and the room definitely isn't worth $500 a night. The tub is gorgeous but we had some issues with the drain and the front desk person on our first night told us no one could fix it until 7am the next morning and we could try to stick a hand towel in the water to unscrew the whole drain, which we did but it made the whole room felt kinda wet and gross all night. The sheets were also pretty scratchy which is a huge bummer. Would probably stay here again in a cheaper room but for $500 a night we've stayed at way nicer places with tons of amenities. Not trying to be a hater but I wish I'd known more about the room before we booked it!

Cute, quaint place to stay in Ojai, California. Still going through renovation. Desperately needs a couple more lights in the room.

The Hummingbird Inn is a quiet, quaint stay in Ojai. A minimalist design to update this Inn was warm and inviting. Comfortable beds, and delicious morning coffee.

Night time at the pool was lovely and it was open till 10pm!

What's not to love? I had a two day seminar in Ojai and wanted to stay as close to downtown as possible. After doing a bunch of research I landed on the Hummingbird, pun intended. This place is a gem! I couldn't believe what I was getting especially for the price I paid. The room was clean, the t.v. was smart, the pool was perfect, the staff was outstanding, and the grounds were so peaceful. There are places that charge three times as much and not half as nice as the Hummingbird Inn. Get an upstairs room if you can and just relax..

I was almost scared off from this place by the bad reviews, but I'm very glad I stayed here. I chose this place because it was the most affordable option in Ojai that allows dogs. Only certain rooms are dog friendly, but you can get one without paying the exorbitant rates that other places charge. I agree that the rooms are a bit sterile, but they're clean and comfortable, which matters more to me. And so nice and cool on the hot days! As many others have mentioned, they have renovations going on so it's loud during the day, but perfectly quiet at night. And free parking! The location is on the main street, but about a half mile east from the central shops. It was close enough that I could easily walk into "town" for meals and shopping. Overall, everything I need in a hotel.

i had the most incredible time here. the property is absolutely stunning, pristine and peaceful. i stayed in one of the casitas and would highly recommend! everything was clean and really aesthetically pleasing. beds are comfy, shower is great! didn't get to swim, but i hung out on the loungers for a while. towels are provided & there are floaties! there are picnic tables around the property to sit and smoke at too. the lobby is beyond stunning too! in the morning there is great coffee & tea too. honestly a great price for the space and amenities. for real, i could stay here for days - and next time i will!

    Dog friendly!

My boyfriend and I had such a great experience here! Hummingbird Inn is perfect for an authentic experience in Ojai. It's simple and quaint, clean, nice rooms, and in a great location. When going to Ojai it's all about being a part of the simplicity of the culture and this was perfect for that. It's nothing fancy it's just cute and charming. I loved the minimalist renovated style of the bathroom and bed. The porch in back of our room was adorable with the most spectacular view of The Valley. The staff were really friendly.. it was such an easy process to get in and out with just a punch code. The hotel was really quiet and I felt like we had privacy. The pool was adorable. The inn is right near all the best stores and restaurants so that made it easy for us. Most importantly for me, everything was perfectly clean. Would definitely come back.

Super cute hotel! It's getting renovated right now but we had an awesome stay. Super friendly staff, comfy beds, and close to the downtown area. Would definitely stay here again!

We came on a Saturday early afternoon and started at one of their restaurants. The food was amazing, but service was definitely on the slower side. The vibe was so calm, mostly women just chatting, unwinding, and enjoying each other in this peaceful little paradise. We ordered smoothies poolside and omg...so fresh and refreshing. Service at the spa pool was great, everyone seemed to be working together seamlessly and checking in often without being overbearing. Definitely one of those spots I'd come back to anytime I need a reset from LA.

For many years, Ojai Valley Inn was one of my favorite destinations. I have stayed at the resort…read moreseven or eight times and always considered it a special place to celebrate important occasions. Unfortunately, after my recent experience, I do not plan to return. For Father's Day weekend, I booked what I hoped would be a memorable getaway for my husband and me. I prepaid $5,364.45 for a two-night stay in a Deluxe King with a View Room. In addition, I made dinner reservations at the resort's fine dining restaurant, scheduled a golf outing for two because my husband loves golf, and booked a couples massage. I was genuinely looking forward to a special and relaxing weekend. On June 5, I searched for Ojai Valley Inn on Google and called the phone number that appeared online. Unbeknownst to me, I was connected to a third-party reservation company called Hotel Reservations rather than the resort directly. I received a confirmation email that included Ojai Valley Inn's name, a confirmation number, an itinerary number, and proof of payment. After driving nearly three hours from Newport Beach to the resort, I was shocked to learn that Ojai Valley Inn could not locate my reservation. I presented all of my documentation and confirmation details, yet after nearly an hour of waiting, the issue remained unresolved. I contacted Hotel Reservations while standing at the front desk, and they confirmed that a reservation existed in their system. Unfortunately, the third-party company and the hotel were unable to reconcile the discrepancy. What disappointed me most was not the reservation issue itself, but the hotel's response. The front desk associate assisting us was kind, empathetic, mentioned they will have a room available for us, and appeared genuinely committed to finding a solution. However, when the front desk manager, Morgan Giuseponi, became involved, I felt that very little effort was made to accommodate us despite our circumstances. Given our longstanding history with the resort, our prepaid reservation, and the fact that we already had dining, golf, and spa reservations on property, I expected some attempt to help us remain at the resort. Instead, we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and were advised to seek accommodations elsewhere. Whether the issue originated with the third-party booking company or elsewhere, I had hoped Ojai Valley Inn would demonstrate the level of hospitality and problem-solving that luxury resorts are known for. Rather than allowing the situation to ruin Father's Day weekend, we chose to stay at Rosewood Miramar Beach instead. Fortunately, the experience there was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and proactive. The contrast in customer care was impossible to ignore. Luxury hospitality is not measured by how a property performs when everything goes according to plan. It is measured by how it responds when something goes wrong. In this case, I left feeling that Ojai Valley Inn was unwilling to help a loyal, repeat guest during a difficult situation. This experience was deeply disappointing and has permanently changed my perception of a resort I once loved. While the reservation issue may not have been entirely the hotel's fault, the lack of effort to find a solution certainly was. For that reason, I will not be returning.

The photos on their website are also very misleading, the space is much much smaller than it appears. I even attempted to host a Zoom meeting from inside, but had to cancel because the noise made it impossible to hear anything. When we raised these issues with the office, their suggestion was to open the windows, which only added insult to injury because of how uncomfortably hot it was inside. To make matters worse , when they eventually offered a partial refund, it came less than an hour before the time they required us to vacate, and we weren't even on-site at the time. After we informed them that we had checked out early, they offered an even smaller refund, which we have still not received a month later. Overall, a very disappointing experience. We didn't discover the switch until our second night--the switch is by the second door, not the main entrance. The location was great, with an easy drive into town while still feeling quiet and relaxing. The only minor downside was being awakened before 8:00 a.m. Saturday by workers on the attached building's roof. It wasn't loud construction, but we could hear footsteps, ladders, and people working overhead. We had booked a weekend stay because the listing indicated there would be no weekend construction. It is very clean and the renovations were clearly very intentional with design in mind. It is an incredibly cohesive property. It's the kind of shower that is only separated from the rest of the bathroom by half of a glass wall. Which just means, no matter how careful you are, the entire bathroom will be soaked. In terms of property amenities, the ample free parking was a huge plus. And the complementary bikes seemed great, thought we didn't get a chance to take advantage of them. There is a nice large field in the back which would be a great place to stargaze at night. We did check out the hot tub on the last morning, and I was very disappointed that it was hardly warm. The rooms come with a unique selection of snacks for purchase, but I was shocked to see they were charging $4 for the packet of instant coffee next to the kettle. I'm glad I noticed they were charging for that, because I would've assumed it was free. No chance that's worth it. There was decent coffee available in the lobby for free. When looking at a map, it showed it was only a 10-15 minute walk into the main stretch of town, so we planned to walk daily. Unfortunately, there is just enough distance on the road between the hotel and the downtown where there is no sidewalk, to a point where we felt it would be unsafe to walk at night. So we had to drive 2 minutes down the road instead. If they were able to create a path with a street lamp or two, that would make a huge difference! The staff was incredibly nice and I was glad they were able to help out with anything we needed! I did find it a bit odd that the hotel is only staffed 8AM-10PM. Their "European" breakfast seemed no better than a Holiday Inn Express. A lot of it is prepackaged stuff. The "assorted cheeses" are identical to the pre-sliced packaged stuff from Vons as is the bread and bagels. The only effort put into appears to be the hard-boiled eggs (unpeeled, of course). They could easily step it up several notches by sourcing pastries from locals, making oatmeal to serve, and getting a decent cheese and meat selection, but after the second disappointing day of the exact same thing we headed to town for breakfast. For us, the most off-putting thing was all the ridiculous signs everywhere! We counted 22 separate signs from driving in the entrance to opening the door to our room - four or five were helpful. And then there's all the signage IN your room (did you really need to label the ice bucket as "Ice Bucket"???). It seems like someone just went to town with a label maker and laminator. Maybe just us, but we felt it was tacky, unnecessary and detracting.

It is a calm and beautiful place to be, with a nice swimming pool, jacuzzi, views of two mountain ranges, plenty of surrounding trees, flowers, and smells of lemon blossoms part of the year. The room is larger than what we stayed in at two other hotels prior to coming here, including one more upscale hotel. It's simple but refreshing, with easy access to lots of downtown services and events just a mile away. It feels like staying in the country with town benefits. I especially like that nothing smells of the toxic chemicals a lot of other hotels routinely use. Considering all the stressors in the situation of being evacuated from our home due to a natural calamity, this has been a godsend. People feel sorry for me when they hear I've been living in a hotel, but because of the staff and the ease of being here it's been a far better experience than it would have been. We will always be grateful to Casa Ojai!

The plumbing is older and can be a little finicky, and the AC/heater units are definitely on the louder, older side. That said, the overall value for the price is still great compared to other places in Ojai. The pool and spa are super nice and relaxing, and I love that they offer bikes for rent--Ojai is such a perfect place to bike around. I'd recommend it and will definitely come again.
