Seriously cute. Hubby and I booked 2 nights for a little Ojai getaway and were totally charmed by this little cutie of a place! Check in was a breeze, friendly fast, cute little reception area. The vibe of the hotel is so fun and so Ojai. We had a jacuzzi tub room and that was a treat. Bed was super cozy. Always love a ceiling fan in the room too! Cute little patio to sit out and read. Chief's Peak Bar is right there, and full of friendly folks. The whole place was great and we are already planning to come back. If you're looking for fancy? This isn't the place. This is our first time staying there, and I have to say it is really charming, unpretentious and very nicely maintained. The room products and interiors are very well appointed. We opted for the kitchen, which was really a cute little place for preparing snacks snack and breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, this place does not offer a breakfast, but the coffee is amazing!! Close to cafes and you can always walk 5mins to the westridge market where they have a huge breakfast buffet. The pool area is very relaxed and the bar is really cool. I love the updated hippie vibes, decor and art. The people and staff are very friendly by the way if you're bringing a dog, this is a great place because there is a large yard in the back and it's next-door to a walking path into downtown which is one of the big positives! We are definitely planning a return there soon with our dog. read more

I LOVED this little place!!! I was in town for a 2-day event and stayed for three nights. The inn has a locked door that connects to the Ojai Valley Trail. I enjoyed this trail every day that I was in Ojai. I can't recommend the inn's cozy little bar -- Chief's Peak -- enough. Why I docked a star: As other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms are DARK. Too dark to be cozy. It's so dark, I fear for guests who have any sort of visual impairment. The bedside lamps provided no significant light, and the overhead fan light was small, cold, & sterile, and not very bright, either. I beg of you, Ojai Rancho Inn--PLEASE get more significant overhead lights in your rooms--a singular bright japanese lantern hanging from the ceiling would do the trick. The ceiling fan is unnecessary when the rooms have AC. The pros: Dog friendly, I found the bed & pillows super comfortable, and the jacuzzi was rad. They have free bikes on the property that you can ride to downtown--my fiancé and I loved that. The grounds were beautiful and a short walk to downtown. This place must have been charming, in its hay day. But. Not now. It needs a lot of TLC. Our room (#15) was dark, dark, dark. One of my pet peeves when I travel is there's never enough light. Well, this place was the worst! Two little lamps in the kitchenette, positioned such that they were useless. If you wanted to cook anything, there wasn't any way to be sure that you cleaned it all, because the lightbulb behind you created a shadow over the kitchen sink. And, the owners are chintzy... two small glasses, two giant mugs, 2 dishes, 2 forks...you get the picture. NO coffee pot. Just instance coffee packets for sale. Two small lamps on either side of the bed with 15W bulbs in it. The bathroom had such poor lighting. Taking a shower, in the dark, is no fun....and there's no fan in the bathroom. If you'd like to have high humidity create soggy towels, a mirror that can't be used, residual moisture everywhere....well then, this is the place for you! No electrical outlets (another pet peeve), except on one side of the bed. In order to plug in your phone to charge it on the side of the bed that did NOT have an electrical outlet...it had to be done using the plug at the opposite side of the room. Beneath the table provided as a desk. We had to crawl under the table each time we wanted to plug in/unplug the phone. And only one plug as the other was being used for the TV. There was a large gap at the door, so any cold air could make its way in to our room. The split system was in the kitchenette. Which meant the kitchen would be warm while the rest of the room was brrrrrr cold. I'm not certain who designed these rooms. I'd strongly urge the owners to be a guest in these rooms to determine how badly it needs an upgrade. Lastly, it was ridiculously expensive for a motel. read more

We stayed at the Ojai Rancho Inn for two nights. It was a beautiful location that was cozy and inviting. The room was almost perfect with a king size bed and jacuzzi hot tub. The amenities were great which included Chiefs Peak (the bar), the pool, and the huge outdoor lounge area to play games and relax. My boyfriend and I slept so comfortably in the room. The bathroom was small but functional the shower had the best water pressure I have probably ever felt as well. The staff were wonderful and so helpful when needed. I would definitely recommend staying here. We will be back to stay here again. read more

If you come during the week, and Katia is on the front desk, you will have a much better experience. She cares and aims to please , is wonderful and pleasant, as this is a hospitality business. make sure you ask for a breakdown of charges on incidentals. Cause we were overcharged every single day ! and had to ask, repeatadly For a breakdown. No, one 7 dollar beer isn't $38. And the young , full of attitude , man that day, said, " don't bother me " and then " I don't know how to see what was charged.and I don't know how to fix it or use the computer " lol. Finally a so called manager came in, and said there were issues with their computer, ( I said " then how did these unknown daily , wrong, charges get tallied up , so then refund me for them if you don't know what they are " ) and magically she fixed it. However. She then And actually had the audacity to reprimanded us for Going after her " team". Wow. So it's not ok to give feedback here. And she flipped the script and blamed the persons not happy with this incident, not the unprofessional man with attitude, other friends of ours there, had similar experiences with him FYI. same guy, told some nice folks they could check out at noon. And then apparently day of, called them, and gave them an hr to check out. He changed his mind ? how inconsiderate Of this place. Def. Horrible HR department to say the least. Starts there. Bad training. FYI these mystery charges happened at my last visit last spring, and I didn't notice til I got home. So I let it go. But I think it's a bit unethical. The so called, " owner" who may actually runs the place, ok um she did the decor, hires the young, cute, smug, staff, (and the hotel capri, ) but she rents these ojai hotels, From the actual owner according to the la times Article. The Ojai Rancho Inn is a small motor lodge that looks like it was built in the 1950's. When you first arrive, it's not too impressive, visually. But the place grows on you - it's got that "Ojai funky" feel. If you go, get #19, which is the largest room. It's at the rear, and faces on a wide grassy garden area, and adjoins the pool and a small sauna on the other side. I did not see any rooms other than ours, which was furnished in knotty pine, with a synthetic wood floor (practical). The bed was plenty large (king or California king size) and a bit soft for my tastes, but very comfortable. The gas fireplace was a very nice amenity. Unfortunately, it stopped working at one point during the night. The bathroom was very large and everything was clean. We were not charged for an air mattress for our third person, which was nice. I was told when departing that I'd receive a discount for the fireplace not working. I didn't ask for the discount, wasn't expecting it, but the clerk offered that. The credit showed up on my credit card statement a day after the total billing amount. The rear of the property abuts a hiking trail, which is a benefit. The property is about a half-mile walk from downtown Ojai. read more

This was our first time in ojai, we loved this place. They have beautiful backyard with little fire, swimming pool and 2 hammock, cute bar, sauna etc. if you wanna just chill in ojai this place is the best! One thing I would like to mention is the noise on the rooftop, at night you might hear crazy noises but that's nothing to be scared of most probably they will be raccoons banging your windows or playing on the roof. First night I didn't know what it was so I was scared but next day i found out about raccoons so I slept good! Highly recommend! read more

Stayed in a premium king suite and the bed was super uncomfortable. Caved in the middle. Time for the owners to invest in some new beds! When we walked into our room the heat was cranking and it felt like a furnace. Thermostat said 80 degrees so had to blast AC to get the temp down. These rooms have super old heating units that still put out heat even when turned off due to the pilot light. Pretty annoying. Also the woman who works nights on the weekends is standoffish and unhelpful. She gave off energy like "why are you bothering me with dumb questions." We expected more after paying $400 a night. read more

Loved this place! It's a rustic-glam curated aesthetic dream. Rooms were clean, and cozy. Staff was friendly. There are cruiser bikes you can use as part of the amenities which is awesome bc there's a bike path that basically takes you all throughout Ojai. The pool is modest and adorable-a perfect way to spend late afternoon. My only suggestion is to try to request a room a little further off the road. We were in room one and the road was a little noisy but also not a huge deal. I would totally stay here again and recommend it to any friends making the trip. read more

Oh heyyyyy, Ojai! This place is a little piece of magic just a hop and a skip from LA. Stayed at the Rancho Inn for two nights with girlfriends and have designated my new easy getaway spot. Not a lot to say that hasn't already been said, but my highlights are as follows: + Killer gift shop in the lobby. They have a small but beautifully curated selection of things for gifting or treating yourself. + The bar. The bar! Tiny but awesome. I believe they just have beer and wine, but that's all we needed. You can get wine by the glass or get a full bottle to enjoy in your room. + Speaking of rooms, we got the one with the jacuzzi and while we didn't actually use ours, it made for a fun 70s ski lodge vibe. + Palo santo everything. They give you a stick to burn in your room when you arrive + the soaps and shampoos and all the things smell like it. Can't get more Ojai than that. + Free bikes to ride and a cool little path for riding them into town. The bikes themselves are nice Linus ones with baskets and good locks. My only wish is there were more, since they're reserved quickly! + Location, location, location. Ojai Rancho Inn is about a quarter mile walk from the super cute downtown area and the Topa Mountain Winery. I felt like we spent a pretty even amount of time between this hotel and exploring the town. read more

The perfect place for an Ojai getaway! A group of lady friends and I gathered here for a weekend stay, each sleeping two to a room. Checking in was a breeze, we were each shown our accommodations by the gal who runs reception. Speaking of, the front desk cabin had a wide array of bubble baths, essential oils, all natural toothbrushes, CBD products and "personal massagers" - what else would guests need? Each room has its own front patio with table and chairs (very old school motel). Inside has a tv, large bed, small but totally clean bathroom as well as a la carte assortment of snacks. My room also had a jacuzzi tub that sadly didn't get used. Complimentary palo santo sticks to cleanse the room too - which is great also for covering up bathroom goblin smells. The location of the Inn is perfect. A short walk or bike ride (which the hotel provides) into town for wine tasting, dinner or shopping. Very conveniently located near the Ojai trail for runners or horseback riding as well. The weather was nice enough to allow an hour of sunshine by the pool as well - probably the last time my pasty Colorado body will see the light of day for many months. I love the bar situated onsite that serves wine by the glass or bottle, along with beer, cocktails and kombucha (because... Ojai) from 4-10 pm. Not much happens in town after 10 but you can make your own fun in your room. Weekend rates run from $200+ and during the week it's anywhere from $125-$199 per room for a king bed and large tub. Not too bad, considering the location and amenities. I want to go back right now. read more

Be aware folks that you will be charged prior to arriving. My credit card showed a charge 2 days before arriving which i ve never experienced before at any other lodging. Also i found a glitch when tryin to reserve the unit i wanted on their website. It did not alert me to the unavailability of the unit & ended up with a different room i wasnt expecting. Also the showers give a trickle of water enough to clean but NOT to relax. On the Plus side they do take pets and have a nice area in the back for them to explore. read more

There are pros and cons to this inn. We got a relatively good rate here at a $225 ish a night during the week for my bday for a king room with a jacuzzi tub. The room was clean but very dark and the wood walls and roof make loud creaking noises all night which may be normal but I had no idea that this happens. It was very hard to sleep more than an hour without hearing a loud crack, also the wifi was pretty much non existent if that is important to you. The sauna by the pool was relaxing and private as was the grassy area with lounge areas behind the pool space. A lovely small trail is right behind the property which we enjoyed. If you want a quiet place this is not for you, but if you want to be close to the heart of Ojai and have a rustic room with a jacuzzi and can sleep through very loud noises you may just love it here. read more

We came for a very special wedding with about 70 guests. The entire hotel was rented out for the event and they did not disappoint. Never visited the rooms but certainly enjoyed the bar, with romantic drinks (and that woodsy Palo Santo scent that is everywhere), and the next day, the pretty fabulous pool, and the beautiful grounds. The buildings are otherwise rustic and simply ooze charm. This is a very small hotel, like a modern version of a roadside inn. Perfect for small/medium sized weddings. Ojai Love After a few hectic but fun days at Disneyland, I was ready for some downtime. Cue Ojai, California, home to Jaimie Sommers: The Bionic Woman. As we made our journey to Ojai, we made detours at Karen Carpenter's house (her final resting place), the exterior filming location of Fantasy Island (Da plane! Da plane!), and the house from Poltergeist (Carol Anne!). In between locations we grabbed lunch at by Chole, and provisions at Whole Foods, in Silver Lake. Stocked with nibbly things and adult beverages, we finished the last leg of our journey with a drive up highway 33. It set the tone for the relaxation to come. It's a pretty stretch of road. The weather was much better then we had further south, sunny and 75°. Parking: We pulled into the parking lot and knew we were home! Charming and rustic. This is what I always thought Ojai would be. Office: The office smelled really good, essential oils lingered in the air. The lady behind the front desk was a sweetheart, (I forget her name, but she was blonde with retro glasses) and let us check in early. Sidebar: the morning coffee is served in the lobby. Check in: super easy. Rooms: We were traveling with a girlfriend, and met up with another friend, who was also staying at the ranch. Our posse rented out three different rooms. My husband and I choose the Garden Cabin which is located at the back of the property. It's connected by the pool and sauna. The cottage had It's own entrance to the pool area via the back door, located by the bathroom. We had a restful nights sleep amongst the quiet surroundings. The only downside I found was the room lighting. It was extremely dim, but lovely to look at. I wanted to purchase the folksy ceramic light fixtures that were attached to the walls in our room. There was easy access to the back gate at the edge of the property. The gate opens to a paved trail that goes into town (an easy 15 min walk). Eucalyptus trees adorned the trail. Ahhhhhhh, I love that smell! Our friend's rooms were smaller than our cabin, but equally adorable. I'd rent any of the rooms. I look forward to many more visits. Pool: it came equipped with plenty of comfortable chairs and lounges. Plush towels were provided courtesy of a basket near the sauna. The crowd was a mixture of young Instagramers, ready for their closeups, and older folks looking to relax in the sunshine. Well kept and clean. We lived at the pool during the daytime. Fire pit: After the sun went down on our first evening we wanted to make a fire. My friend asked the people at Chief's Peak (the tiny bar attached to the pool area) where to find wood, etc. The bartender's boyfriend helped us locate the wood and fuel, which was located in a shed beside the Garden Cottage out back. I built a fire, and soon our friends and some of the staff joined us in the celebration. I was a little leery about building a huge fire, since Ojai was still recovering from the Thomas fire, that ripped through the area a few months prior. As others have observed, the inn has charm - and thin walls - consistent with its construction during the motor touring years. The beds and staff are also nice. On the other hand...if you want quiet sleeping, stay away. Rooms nearer the highway are beset with road noise. Rooms farther back are bombarded with noise from the bar until 10 pm. The thin walls also guarantee that noisy neighbors will be quite audible. All in all, I wish I had my money back. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a wedding that was being held nearby. The room was neat and clean with some charming decor. However, for the price we paid for two nights ($900) we would have expected a few other amenities to work well. Firstly, the drain in the shower did not work properly. I'm not a fan of standing in about two inches of water as I take my shower. Feels kind of yucky! Speaking of shower, the scent of the body wash and lotion was not our favorite. Secondly, the TV which was newer, was not able to connect to the wireless regardless of how many times we tried to do so. The office person explained that sometimes when everyone is trying to get online, "things run slow". Slow is quite an understatement! There's also a bit of road noise, but that didn't really bother us. On the plus side, we were able to walk to town and dinner and that was quite nice. Started around 11:30 and lasted until 5AM - scratching noises all night along. The guy on the night shift was NOT helpful (you want ear plugs? otherwise, my shift is over). Called the number listed and they did the right thing and gave us our money back. If they can get the critter issue under control, it's a nice place in a cool town. read more

It's not fancy shmancy, but you're in Ojai, so forget shaving for a couple days, and go with the flow. Definitely get the room with the hot tub in it. Came here a few weekends ago with a group of friends. Was generally having a good time. A group of nice young ladies were celebrating a birthday near us in the pool area. We overheard staff at the inn basically harassing them the entire time.... it was awkward. We overheard staff tell them they had to get rid of the little party decor they had... then a different staff member told them they each had to buy a drink to stay in the pool (one had just told us she was pregnant). The whole experience was unfortunate and in turn made our group feel uncomfortable. My buddy felt bad for them- he bought the bday girl a drink. Not sure we'll be coming back here. read more

This cute little place doesn't look like much from the street but it has a ton of charm! Two girlfriends and I stayed there this past weekend and loved it! We found it very quiet and the staff was very friendly. Our room was the Garden Cottage in the back which was very private and also had a door with private entry to the pool and bar. Therese was extremely friendly and helpful and even helped us to split our bill properly and charge on three different cards (having to do math around 10pm isn't easy but she called us when we were out at the Air Supply concert and said she'd be able to help us that night). We also spent some time hanging out in the poolside bar. The bartender Christian was not only eye candy but was a very kind Southern gentleman who made some refreshing Soju cocktails for us. They have a couple of mixed drinks and serve beer and wine. The bar was hopping and had a very friendly and fun vibe. The complimentary coffee in the morning was good and I loved the lobby area which had some really fun local art and other cute things for sale. Finally, the location could not have been better. We spent time at the Ojai Valley Inn Spa and restaurant and could walk up there if we wanted to. It is also within a short walking distance to downtown Ojai. Decent, clean and very close to downtown Ojai, which was of importance to us during the tennis tournament. We chose the King room (#3) with spa tub, which we never had a chance to use. The room was very small as was the bathroom. The showerhead was extremely forceful, so no water pressure issues there! No sink counter space. The shower was not well confined so water will spread to the bathroom floor. The room tends to be a bit dark. Lighting was funky but I think that's the vibe they were going for. Very rustic, cabin feel. Bed was comfortable, pillows were too hard. Never used the bar/lounge area as we were always at the tennis tournament. Easy access to all things downtown Ojai. Cute porch area in front of each room. Not crazy about the shampoo or body wash option. Had a fridge and micro but never used it. Coffee and tea in the morning can be found in the lobby area. Got charged an extra $10 for a rollaway as our daughter was with us. Didn't see that till we got home and reviewed the bill. Don't think that was really necessary. The room is made of wood which will make cracking sounds throughout the night, so don't freak out. Seems that's normal. It is definitely a funky, artsy type place with a cabin setting. Don't think it was worth $390 a night though. But it was the big tournament so I'm sure they raised their prices just for that. read more

We went here for a family get together. It was great. Room was clean and place was quiet. Salt water pool was nice for the kids. We loved the free bikes and the bike path behind was so convenient to get to town or walking to Topa Winery. It is an older property but only noticeable in the bathroom and hot tub. The air conditioning could use some work as it only cools one section of the room. All else was great. We loved the relaxing vibes of the place and that it was dog friendly. Wonderful little get away! My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ojai Rancho Inn for our 1 year anniversary. We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by a nice girl at the front desk. She told us about the Inn and the area, checked us in and gave us a piece of incense to burn in our room and clean the space. The Inn is very cute, the red paint and the cute little porch lights are lovely. Walking into our room, we found it to be very comfy. There was a king sized bed with a wooden frame, beautiful shades and lamps and it was VERY clean. There is a little porch with two chairs outside and a microwave. At night we turned on the heater that worked very fast and well. There are free bikes that can be rented and every morning there is tea and coffee on the porch of the office. In the back there is a pool, sauna, fireplace, wooden swings and lawn chairs. All in all I can only recommend staying here, it is beautiful, comfy and very close to downtown Ojai. read more
