Dropped off my car on a Monday and get a call on Tuesday saying they figured out the problem. Said it was electrical but didn't really explain what was wrong with it and quoted me $680. Told them I couldn't do that price and he says it usually cost $800 anywhere else. I tell him that I'd be picking up the car soon. Take an uber to the shop to pick the car up and they are closed for an hour on lunch. Fine, I wait around since I do not want to waste more money on uber. When the mechanic finally arrives after lunch I ask him what exactly is wrong with the car. He proceeds to vaguely tell me the car is old and that the wiring is messed up and it keeps blowing the fuse. I then ask him if he did in fact change the fuse, said he did. I take the car to auto zone and find the blown fuse and replace it. Solved the problem, no more issues, hasn't blown the fuse since. SO THIS SHOP TRIED TO CHARGE ME $680 FOR A BLOWN FUSE. The next morning Scott called me and explained what needed to be done. I gave them the okay, and my car was ready just a few hours later. I also looked around and got a few quotes from other shops just to see if the price was fair, and Williams Automotive ended up being the best price by far. They also let me know my transmission fluid was really dark, which honestly wasn't surprising since I had never changed it. I came back for that service and an oil change, and once again everything was done quickly and for a really good price. Everyone I've dealt with there has been friendly and helpful. The lady in the office is also super nice, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, I'm really happy with the service, price, turnaround time, and customer service. That discrepancy raises an obvious question: how does a car go from allegedly needing suspension repairs at one shop to having a clean bill of health from a Toyota dealership? The GR86 is not your average commuter car, and its suspension setup is more specialized than what many general repair shops work with daily. In my case, the car is also not driven hard or abused. It's used normally, with no track use, no canyon driving habits, and no aggressive treatment that would reasonably point toward premature suspension wear.
