The best thing I tried out of that menu was the tempura roll. Ordered the oki doki roll along with the crunch dragon roll. I don't know if it was me or what but the spicy tuna had a weird taste to it. So we removed it from the top of the dragon roll and ate the rest as far as the oki doki roll, we just ate the deep fried crawfish and left the roll. Went there on a Friday at one and there was only three other groups of people. The waiter guy wasn't welcoming at all. He literally came once to ask us if we were ready and we ordered drinks and one roll and told him I needed to look at the menu a little longer. He only came back to drop off the roll and that's when I was able to order the other two items. Asked him for a cup with no ice for my soda and brought me an ice cup. Didn't bring me my miso soup that came with the lunch special and hadn't brought us plates for sharing. It was annoying have to keep getting his attention. Far more than okie dokie. This place is so cute, seriously. After spending a day at the beach, we had need of seafood. Tables, floors, windows, and dishes were all clean. The decor was modern Japanese and the building was in good condition. There's table and bar seating. Temperature was perfect. Parking lot is very small and is shared with several other business so you might need to park nearby and take a little walk. Staff was very friendly, helpful, attentive, and hard working. Everyone was dressed appropriately and had good hygiene as well as acted appropriately with each other. We had the California roll lunch special and it was delicious, had the perfect temperature and texture, and was very economical. On top of that, very filling. Service was absolutely horrible for the second time in a row. On the previous trip, we were practically begging for service. However, we tried again as previously service was very good. Tonight, we had another bad experience. It was, in fact, worse than the one before. The issues were as follows: 1- We asked for wasabi three times and it never showed up. 2- The waiter forgot two sushi rolls completely. 3- We ordered a spider roll and the waiter just brought greasy soft shell crabs. 4- The Hot Tea was luke warm. 5- All four miso soups were room temperature. 6- The sushi cuts were inconsistent. 7- We asked for Spicy Mayo and it was never delivered. The restaurant staff never once offered resolution or apologies. We were completely disappointed and will never be returning. Tonight was one of our worst LA experiences. read more

I am fairly new in visiting the Hermosa Beach area. We found a place that I have never been to before located on Pacific Coast Highway and fifth street. This location is on a corner strip mall with limited parking. There is plenty of street parking available in the surrounding neighborhood if needed. The location seems to always be full of people with a possible waiting list. The staff was friendly and seated us within a proper time length. We got to sit at the sushi bar area for faster service. The first impression of the location is its authentic Japanese atmosphere. The sushi chefs were friendly and the server was prompt in taking our orders. We ordered the Oishii Roll and the 911 Roll and two salmon rolls. They also served us complimentary edamame and pickled cucumbers. The food arrived pretty quickly. The Oishii Roll comes with no rice for anyone trying to follow a keto diet. Both rolls were delicious and had very good flavor. The 911 Roll did have a little too much mayo but other than that the entire experience was impeccable. All the food was fresh and the service was excellent and at reasonable prices. Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday, one of his favorite sushi places. Friday night not busy, found seating for our group of 5 right away. Friendly waiters and a women who I believe might have been the owner. I am not a "real" sushi person and by that I mean I don't do raw seafood lol. They do offer other food besides sushi which is a plus, I do eat the "fake" sushi as my friends like to call it lol. I ordered a California roll, and a crunch roll without the smelt eggs, and an order of gyoza. Everything was yummy. We had a cake for our friend and they were kind enough to accommodate us with additional plates,napkins,forks and a knife. Years and years ago when we first moved to the SB, this was our go-to spot...stopped going when we became vegetarians but now that we're back in the meat eating band wagon, may have to put back in our food rotation when we just want quick, reasonably priced and decent sushi. Gotta love the free albacore tempura, kinda wish it was less saucy because it makes it very sweet. I'll still gobble it up though because it's always fresh and crispy. Love the albacore sushi, it's a big pice of fish with minimal rice which is how I like it served. The crispy rice tuna is a must try. I like the contrast of fried crispy rice with the soft tuna and kick of jalapeño. And my go to baked mussels were fresh out of the oven, sweet and cut up to slide right out of the shell and into my mouth. I get it every time. The sesame and giner ponzu dressing is amazing...there's a ton of fish...it's such a deal. - The staff works so hard...it's a small location, but they pack it every night. I usually eat at the bar, but the wait staff is great. - Prices are decent...not cheap, but again...you get what you pay for. - The Crunch Dragon Roll and In N' Out roll are my two favorites, though I think most of the rolls are great. Here's what you should get every single time. The Harbor Combination with the crunch roll is the best deal in town. They were up some thick and good quality nigiri with a really solid and fun roll. The total of that meal is really inexpensive and you will be really really full. My brother gets this 2-3 times per week and comes so often that they know him now. I was worried when he said he wanted to get sushi from here. I've walked by many times and was always afraid. I shouldn't have been. This place is delicious. We have continued to come here during COVID and support the business. The lunch specials are great so if you are stopping by between 11-3 you have a nice variety to choose from. I started going here after my original sushi spot closed due to covid tanking small businesses. So I have never eaten in Oki Doki's dining room but it's is a traditional sushi house setup with a large L shaped bar and comfortable tables w/ 1/2 bench & chair setups. It's super clean inside. The staff are all friendly & service is efficient. I'll definitely be going to dine in once this pandemic nonsense clears.
