I finally got around to checking out Sora Sushi. They've been here for about 6 months and they are conveniently located in the neighborhood, so the was a bit overdue. We ordered 2 omakase and a Black Dragon Roll. It was all good. The omakase wasn't the best that we've had in the S.Bay but it was tasty. The downside with the omakase was that the nigiri pieces were not very uniform in size. The presentation with the dry ice was pretty for sure, but I'm more about the cuts and taste. Again, still very good, just not in my top 3. The roll on the other hand, and I'm not as much a roll guy, but it was excellent, actually probably in my top 3 in the S.Bay for rolls! I'll definitely be back for more! Prices were decent. Ambiance was nice, cute, and clean. Service was excellent! Check out Sora Sushi!

My food met expectations. I had the deluxe sushi combo and the Rock N Roll, and also ordered the chicken katsu to go.

No frills, just good sushi! Quality is key. Everything was fresh and the service was on point!

Proposed to my girlfriend this past weekend and hired Sora Sushi for a small party afterwards. They were fantastic. All of the food was incredible and my guests couldn't stop talking about the quality of the fish. Great rolls, excellent sashimi, everything was top notch! 10/10

I just want to say that this place did not disappoint! It was me and my partners first time trying it and let me tell you guys, the food was YUMMYYY. The food tasted sooo good, I'm officially obsessed with the dumplings, the spicy tuna and the sauce from the chicken teriyaki. The place gave me homey vibes which made the experience so much better! Judy our server was such a sweetheart. I can't wait to come back !

I dropped my car off at Pacific Auto Cleaning and needed lunch. I walked up to the shopping plaza and recalled there was a sushi place I have never tried but a light lunch sounded ideal and I had an hour to kill so I walked into Sora Sushi! There was a sweet gal standing at the door with a smile on her face. I later learned that was the wife and I think this is a family business!! She warmly greeted me and gave me seating options. I opted to sit at the bar The missus gave me a lunch menu and I looked at their standard menu too. Before I continue, I have to say I am a vegetarian that detests seaweed and mushrooms. I always opt for soy paper on my vegetarian roles. I asked the missus if they offered soy paper as an alternative and she was so sweet and said they do. Upon looking at their menu, I was so thrilled to see they had a Vegan Rolls section and agedashi tofu. I love a plain lightly fried tofu and white rice. The rice was beautifully cooked, tofu perfect (plain, no bonito/seaweed etc.). I then ordered the vegan roll with soy paper and added cream cheese (don't judge me!). All those items came out and tasted absolutely delicious. I think I found a new sushi spot that's close to home and the chef and wife (who was also cooking) were so kind and made some beautiful rolls! I look forward to coming back with my golden retriever and bringing my friends here!!

This Menu reached Redondo Beach in the Tuesday bundled circulars with the grocery store ads. Intriguing rolls... nice descriptions!

The service is very welcoming and friendly, as is the food well priced, good portions, delicious quality. We were told this Sora Sushi was a pre-existing restaurant that went through a 2025 ownership change and renovation. It's well lit, clean and nice inside.

OMG, I love all forms of sushi and sashimi but rarely get rolls because I feel like most places don't respect the roll and just treat it like a mash up of different things. Well, was I in for a pleasant surprise when I met my friend (a fellow local) at Sora Sushi. From the friendly and attentive service ( thank you Christina - a born and bred H beach native) to the most delectable rolls crafted by the sushi chef who took his training with a legit master sushi chef. Seriously, you can taste the deliberateness of each ingredient wrapped together with so much care. And the presentation most definitely reflects a level of respect that is not found elsewhere. We were delighted that Judy ( from Tsingtao - yes the town associated with the famous Chinese beer) stepped out of the kitchen to check in on us. This place has the most lovely unpretentious local hangout/family welcome feel with epic food at pre-pandemic respectful prices that make dining here regularly ( which is my full intention) more than possible. Do yourself and your family and friends a big favor and get yourself to Sora soon and my suggestion is not to judge the restaurant by the shopping center ( the old Big Lot center at the corner of Aviation and Prospect) it is in because you will regret not coming in! Like Arnold says "I'll be back!"

What a welcome addition to the neighborhood! After reading several positive reviews and a write-up in our local newspaper, I decided to give Sora Sushi a try--and I'm so glad I did! We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Saturday and had our pick of seats. We chose the sushi bar, which turned out to be a great decision. Watching the chefs in action is always a treat, and we had the pleasure of meeting Lucas, the owner, and Asriel, the sushi chef, along with the rest of the team. One of the first things I noticed: everyone here is incredibly friendly. There's an easy warmth and genuine hospitality that sets Sora apart--so refreshing and appreciated! The sushi itself? Fantastic. Fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented--just really well-executed across the board. But the surprise standout was something not even on the menu: as I saw a plate of fried rice leave the kitchen (made by Lucas's sister, a talented Chinese food chef), they kindly offered me a bite. Wow. It was absolutely delicious. Honestly, they should add it to the menu--I'd order it in a heartbeat. Lucas also mentioned that he's Chinese, which got me thinking: why not incorporate a few Chinese entrees into the menu alongside the sushi? If that fried rice was any indication, there's some serious untapped potential there. Now, a quick note--the space itself isn't fancy. It feels a little worn and slightly disheveled, but honestly? The food and the people more than make up for it. By 6 PM, the place was packed and the takeout orders were flying--clearly the word is getting out. I truly hope Sora Sushi is a success. Lucas and his team are serving up delicious food and great vibes, and they deserve all the love they're getting. This is exactly the kind of local spot I want to support. Five stars!

Fantastic new Sushi spot in Redondo Beach! Came in for a light dinner. We had the Dragon Roll & Baked Scallop Roll. Both food and service were amazing! Greer was a wonderful server! Fun upbeat ambiance with classic rock music playing at a low level - not too loud. Great for date night and families with small children too. Visiting from out of town - highly recommend for locals and tourists - def will be back! Ask for a Sora Drop - you'll LOVE IT!

We popped in here on the late side Saturday night for a quick sushi dinner. It's very clean, and the staff very friendly -- we were able to chat with the chef/owner a bit as well. This is definitely a must try. All of the fish is sourced from different places to ensure freshness and quality, and yes, all of our sushi was very fresh. The presentation of all of our orders was amazing. Will definitely go back.

Had dinner here tonight with my sister and everything was phenomenal. We have been missing inventive, unique sushi rolls at a fair price in the South Bay for a while now ... I am so happy this opened locally ! We ordered the large mix sashimi, double toro roll, and spicy sexy girl roll. Everything was fantastic and I would order it all again. The sashimi was delectable and had fresh wasabi garnished too. I like the no frills ambiance, it is casual and authentic. We sat at the sushi bar and will be back in the future. Highly recommend.

Nothing tasted very good or fresh.
Mary M.

The overpowering smell of cheap cleaning products is the first thing I noticed when I walked in. None of the sushi tasted very good or fresh. The real crab hand roll was so disgusting that my friend and I both spit it out. The crab was grey color and tasted off. Not fresh. Old. I do not know where these good reviews come from. We both left after paying $100 with bad tastes in our mouths. Don't come here.

The setting was unexpected, a sushi bar with the majority of seating behind curtains, hidden away. Sitting down, I noticed many things that made this place special; from the step-by-step instructions to the free sides of marinated celery and a blend of picked ginger. The manu was brought out and was easy to follow. For a place tha specializes in tempura, they also seemed to have mastered soba and sushi. While not pictured, I got the Carlos Jewel Box, which is a mixture of squid, shrimp, and scallop tempura; salmon, tuna, and yellowtail sashimi; miso soup; and rice all for $20. Worth it in my opinion. The sushi was fresh, and the plating was marvelous. Soba can come hot or cold, and the miso soup featured mushrooms which I had never seen before! The service was attentive and kind, nothing to fault there. While slightly on the pricier side, I can see why with the sheer number of components on each dish, and the flavors they are able to achieve though it. Good job Carlos!

When we arrived luckily there was no wait and were sat immediately. Luckily it was only a couple moments before a party of maybe 12 arrived behind us for dinner. Our host and server were helpful and efficient. We quickly scanned through their menu and decided on their combos (pork cutlet and tempura) Our trays of paradise quickly arrived and looked beautiful! ( see attached for reference ) i loved the balanced presentation and blend of flavors. Each tray had some miso, a 4 bite California roll, some rice, soba noodles, broth, wasabi and ginger. Mine came with some dipping sauce for the tempura. Considering the amount of food I was very satisfied. The tempura was gorgeously crafted with semi thin crisped batter, and a decent amount portioned. I was mostly amazed by my girlfriends pork plate. Their crisp cutlet had beautifully made with an easy crunchy exterior and soft tender pork savory to taste. All elements complimented each other perfectly. Their soba was also good quality and a nice touch to an already balanced dinner. While I was exactly stuffed after dinner, i was still impressed with their entree presentation, quality of food, calming ambiance and great service.

When we arrived for lunch, the place was quite festive with a mixture of young people, families with kids, and an ongoing lunch party with senior ladies. Luckily, we were able to get the last table, and the friendly waiter brought the water and menus right away. After browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items: Special Fish Combo (Spanish Mackerel): The Spanish mackerel was nicely grilled but lightly seasoned. It had quite a few bones, which took a little bit out of the enjoyment of the meal. The udon noodles had a very nice texture, however the broth was on the bland side. The California rolls were well made and flavorful. Tempura Combo: The shrimps were tender, however, the battered outer layer of the tempura was a tad thick and not quite airy. Like Fish Combo, the udon had a bland broth, and the California rolls were fine. Our main issue was the 50-minute wait time for the meals. As a courtesy, the restaurant definitely should have informed us about the delay.

We ordered: Mune kizokuyaki - chicken breast all spice (tare may be a better choice, but my husband wanted to try mixed spices since it was different) Unagi (eel) Teba (chicken wings) Very flavorful Ebi (shrimp) the head and shell were left on, so won't order it again as it's too much work to remove the shell and fingers get dirty) Tsukune (chicken meatballs) Beef harami steak with mashed potatoes & cabbage- only $2 more to add side mashed & cabbage Tori Q (marinated cucumbers) Agedashi Tofu Houjicha pudding for dessert (loved it) Drinks : houijicha tea and Sapporo beer Overall, for the price and the size, it's well worth it. Again, had better yakitori's elsewhere, but serving size is much smaller, so you end up ordering more; which means more $$$$. Service was also amazing and food came out quick. Our favorite picks are: Unagi, teba, tsukune, beef harami, & Tori Q cucumbers. Will come back again for sure to try other skewers/apps. I will definitely order the chicken breast/green onions in tare sauce next time as opposed the mixed spices. Yakitori was for the most part $8 for a set of two. The quality was not worth the $4 per skewer. For skewers, we had gotten liver, heart, wing, chicken meatball, thigh with onion, chicken breast with plum. Also got the cucumber salad, fried chicken skin, and spicy karaage. The biggest complaint was that most of the skewers that didn't come with sauce were under salted and I would say it's pretty dry as well. The cucumber salad was bad because it was bitter in every piece I ate so I ended up not finishing it. The spicy karaage was an absolute no. I took one bite and didn't finish it. My boyfriend ate a small piece and the rest of the dish went untouched. When it came to ordering the finishing dish, I had called for service. The gentleman said brb he's going to grab his tablet... Only for him to come back to grab the table next to mine's order and left lol. I had to call for service again with someone else and ordered a grilled rice ball and the ramen. Grilled rice ball was a disappointment (not even surprised anymore). It was completely soft (probably too much sauce) so it wasn't crispy on the outside at all. The boyfriend enjoyed the ramen and I did try the broth and it was actually pretty good. Um, I guess the best part was the yuzu sour drink I had ordered and the broth from the ramen. I also ended up canceling my second dinner reservation for next time when the skewers came out. Never again.
