I rarely ever write food reviews even with bad experiences but I feel compelled to with this place. I'm a big international foodie so I can determine when food just tastes of poor quality and that was the case here. If you don't mind spending money on good quality food and dining, I would NOT recommend dining here. We should have let the ratings deter us but unfortunately we were craving hibachi nearby and were hoping the restaurant would prove the reviews wrong. The service was ok but the food was awful, it tasted like the lowest quality of ingredients and the portions were so small compared to the pricing. The quality of food has definitely declined. The rice was crunchy and the serving size is much smaller. While in the restaurant someone who ordered fried rice to go had to return to find out if her order was correct. She said the size did not indicate it was a full order. This confirmed what I was thinking about my portion size even though the price is still the same. I won't be back for a long time. :( read more

From the moment we sat down, rush,rush,rush. I ordered a margarita,top shelf, it's was nasty. Too much sour mix. I got heartburn just from looking at it. Again with the rush, rush, rush. I asked for medium rare and made it a point to express medium rare. The staff was all over the place rushing to get nowhere. The funny thing was the place wasn't even packed. All about get you in and out. The food arrived. Just by the look at my plate I could tell the steak was over cooked. I tried it anyway and I was correct. I tried telling our waitress but she caught an attitude. The lady in charge or she might have been the owner comes over with an attitude. She was the one who took our order. What's wrong? That was her attitude. At this point I was done. I told her that I ordered medium rare and showed her the steak. Finally I just said forget it and just waited for my wife to finish her dinner. The ambiance at this restaurant was great! It definitely had a traditional Okinawan vibe. The hibachi area looked and smelled amazing. Our server was warm and welcoming and made sure we had the time we needed to read over menu. The food, well, that was more than I expected! It was sooo good!! This has been one of my favorite places for years and I'm a returning customer. Recently the ownership parted some and things are not the same as they once were when Kim was one of the owners. Just last week i brought 3 people along with my family, that wouldn't had come if it wasn't for me. I ordered a glass of merlot and it tasted old. ( NOT the first time this happened here !!!) I told the owner/server and i was told it was only open for a second day ( more like third ) and that she " can't" open a new bottle until this one is sold . Only way i get fresh wine is if i purchase entire bottle. I was planing on having 2-3 glasses , however i found that very unprofessional and rude. It's sad to see this place going downhill as their food is so tasty. Our hibachi chef was wonderful! Hibachi hibachi hibachi we brought my husband here for his birthday. It was a Wednesday evening and there was no wait. The place could use an uplifting remodel a dark a little old. Not much of a crowd. Plenty of parking outside. Menu was plentiful so was the sushi menu. Our server ended up finding out we were Thai but she had given us great service even before. The food needless to say was awesome. Our hibachi chef was friendly and cooked my husbands food first since he had a shrimp allergen. They did a small happy birthday song and gave us ice cream which was really nice. We left full and happy. They had a lot of drink and cocktail options as well. Went here with high expectations. The second I walked in the door all I could smell was cat piss. The food portions were extremely small and everything is overpriced the waiting staff is very rude and they charge 18% gratuity so that explains why the staff treat you like shit they know they're getting a good tip save your money there's plenty of other places more worth it. read more

So two of our party went to the ER and the staff did not even remove their meals from the bill. My kids love Okinawa BUT... Every time we come to town,my kids beg me to go but this last time was very disappointing. We were a Party of 12 for Hibachi. My kids usually love the shows but this time, other than cooking there was not much that impressed them. In the past they had a little pee boy to help turn off the fire. Even though, the kids ask for it, the cook said was in vacation lol. They forgot to serve the dipping sauces and the amount of rice was little compared to the past. We usually also get noodles with the meal and this time the cook forgot it and finally to the end he remembered and ask his assistant to get it. If you are paying the price of a hibachi, the least you expect is good food and a good show! We talked to someone and he said that there was a great cook who does great show but he was not there. The dinner hibachi chicken is superb. BIG HOWEVER, watch your bill. I was charged for a dinner meal and given a lunch at 1pm ($7 difference). Avoid the older waitress with grey hair. She was so rude. Asked one question about about the sushi and she was irritated. She left, thinking she was returning with an answer but never commented. We did our best to order. Sushi was covered in sesame seeds to cover the art of sushi. She never came back to refresh drinks or ask if everything was ok. Then forced gratuity on our bill. It is as if was expected so why bother with her table!!!! One of the servers came and took my $12 drink way when I went the restroom! I said something to the manager and they just said sorry! Sake, SAKE, Sake Bomb! Highly recommend the Purple Haze, highly discourage the "blue". Even with the vagueness of the name "blue sake" I wanted to be adventurous and try it out... not a fan of it at all. I actually had to force myself to finish it. Purple Haze is definitely the way to go, or apple wasn't bad either... and yes I tried three sakes. (JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE) Although, my review might be bias due to me having a tipsy pallet at the time, I was very impressed with the sushi and variety they offered. We got a tuna pizza, which I've been wanting to try and it was a lot going on, but I didn't mind. I like that so I don't get bored with the same flavor over and over. We ordered enough sushi for a boat (key word being "we", not all for myself) and it was all unique in flavor and the fish was fresh. Rolls that we got in the boat: spicy tuna roll, play girl, special spicy tuna, spicy dynamite, 007 roll, rainbow roll, medium sashimi (12 pieces). So there was a decent variety of specialty rolls and simple rolls that I got to try and I didn't have a single complaint. Service was quick and efficient. They were very welcoming, nice and attentive. All of the qualities a server should have. I'll definitely be back to try more!! read more

I LOVE this restaurant for their high-quality sushi. I don't think i'll ever do the hibachi (chef and grill theatrics), and i'm sure it's great and delicious, but my love for this place is for their fantastic sashimi and their very inventive and delicious rolls. I definitely recommend the Crispy Alaska roll (or something similar, it's up on their dry-erase boards) and whichever roll has "The Real Fire!" both very YUM-worthy! If you enjoy good quality sushi in a location that has a very decorative and quaint japanese feel (the waitresses were cute in their kimonos, and greeting "Irrashai!"), OR you enjoy the fun flips and chops and flames of the hibachi, this place is for you! read more

Mom and pops restaurant. Service isn't as great but that's not the reason I come here. The bad ass roll and a Louisiana roll is the main reason I keep coming back. The bad ass roll contain Crawfis cream cheese inside, outside they have their own special mayo spread over the sushi roll with pork bulgogi on top then flame broiled. The Louisiana is the same concept as the badass roll but with White fish on top. Both roles are very very flavorful and keeps you coming back for more. Five star for the food but service overall I would say to you because they do try hard to serve you. read more

I wanted to share an experience with all the guests. Then we all can value what will be the right rating this restaurant shall have. Last night we and friends of ours went in there for a gathering, and we had a Great time. Everything went south after my husband forgot his iphone on his chair. We realized that after 15 minutes after we have left the restaurant. We tried to call the restaurant w/no answer, and tried to call the phone, for our biggest surprise, phone was turned off and went straight to voice mail. Then we went back to the restaurant (since we are locals, not the vacationer, and live fairly close to the restaurant), and the phone was nowhere to be found. And restaurant manager told us that all their employee are the greatest in the world, and if they found anything they would return to the front desk, even though we have "Find My Friend" and it pinned the location was in the restaurant right arfter we left time stamped. And managers from restaruant were in total denial. At 11:20PM my husband iphone was turned back on and pinned on "Find My Friend" in the parking lot right behind restaurant. Even though phone was moved around a couple times, and pinned at one last location. So based on these facts it is apparent that the phone was found and taken by a restaurant employee and not a guest, since it stayed in the restuarant location for 3-4 hours based on FMF location. This morning, we went to police station, filed a police report. And my disappointment is that it maybe my hustband's fault that he left his phone in this restaurant for 15 minutes, but it can happen to EVERYONE in that restaurant. So my advise to everyone eating that place is that PLEASE WATCH your belongs really careful, it might be lost forever if you don't watch. Relaxation and enjoy a good meal might not be something you can have. In case anything happento you, Customer NO. 1 rule did not apply there. anything happens - we, tough luck. My 2nd time coming here and each time the food has been good enough to satisfy my japanese craving. It's hard to find good Asian food around here. It is a little more pricey than what i am used to paying back home but when I walked away, I was satisfied. I am not a fan for teppanyaki so I always sat at the sushi bar area. They actually use sticky rice here and I can tell it is of good quality. I dislike Japanese restaurants that you can't pick up the rice with the chopsticks bc it's not the sticky rice. The service was quick and polite. I would go back here when I am back in this neck of the country. Only dinner place here that I felt was worthy of getting 4 stars. So I've been here a few times before and usually have good service for the most part. Came in while I was in town because we were craving sushi and this was the closest place. Greeted and seated...ehhh...not the most friendly of service there? Servers seemed kinda off/rude to us at first. Luckily a friend of ours works here and she came by to say hello and we immediately asked if she could take care of us which she said she would LOL. But I guess all of the servers share tables/tips because we had a few different servers come to our table to drop off food and refill drinks. Drinks and food came out fine, we didn't have to wait obscenely long for it. They did get my friends' sushi order wrong though (one of the rolls were wrong) so they had to wait for that. I ordered the Hawaiian roll and Fujiyama roll. Both were good, I didn't feel that it was terrible like some of the other reviewers said. We did separate checks...they forgot to bring me my check. So I guess I could have walked out and not paid haha, but I told one of the servers when they came back to pick up the checks that I didn't get mine. Ok experience. read more

I would actually give this place a zero star if that was possible. Going to Okinawa last night was by far the worst sushi experience I've ever had. The miso was dark brown and tasted of pure salt. Seaweed salad, was not even seaweed salad. It was cucumber salad with an embellishment of seaweed on top. When I asked staff why am I not getting seaweed salad, she pointed see their seaweed there. After consulting with many others in the staff, and a whole lot of commotion, here's what the results of that seaweed salad were. She went and removed the cucumber salad and brought back a plate that had about two tablespoons of seaweed and she said is this better? I asked her to cancel it. I also got edamame which looked like it's been sitting there all day. I ordered three sushi rolls. The dragon roll, the rainbow roll and a spicy tuna roll. Extremely overpriced, no flavor . I'm not even sure if the spicy tuna roll was a spicy tuna roll. It had no appearance of spicy tuna to me. It just looked like rolled rice on the exterior as most sushi should be with the piece of quite dark and smoke flavor tuna wrapped up in it, no sauce or any such embellishments to complete the flavor. Plain roll of rice with the piece of smoked dark tuna in it. The rainbow roll actually looked like it had nice coloring. The flavor was okay. The dragon roll was definitely not anything great. Just a roll with a bunch of eel sauce on it. I did ask for extra ginger and wasabi, of course I didn't get any. Clearly. I should have just canceled the order after the issues with the salad and the soup but the edamame but I tried to give them a chance and they were extremely rude including not coming back to see if we needed anything and even giving me disrespectful gestures with the bill as if they didn't want to come near me. This is definitely not a place that cares about the food they serve you nor the quality nor you as a customer. They're just happy you came in. Pay them for food and left. They're not interested in repeat customers or giving you good customer service or good food. They're just concerned about making sure they make money. This is very sad as I expected better from this place. I used to come here often about 15 years ago and haven't been there since then, such a shame that such a terrific place has gone downhill. This makes any Asian takeout worthy of five stars in comparison to this., No matter how bad. I definitely don't recommend that you waste over $50 to have three rolls and some edamame that you don't even want to remember and then have to go out somewhere else to actually eat some decent dinner. The wait was very long but doable for a Friday in which we went. Once seated the quality of the food left was poor and seemed very very old. The chicken was awful looking and my friend ordered shrimp that literally left her throwing up in the bathroom! When checks came they scrambled everything together and charged me wayyy over the actual price and ended up only taking off a portion of this. My family & I recently came to your establishment. The atmosphere was okay and was greeted by someone named Kawn. However, we noticed that the guys that cook the food behind the counter was staring at us like we were aliens! That made us feel VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!! Our Hibatchi cook was busy watching the news and everything with the exception of the noodle was burnt. The chicken burnt the rice and the egg burnt the rice tasted like burnt tobacco.
