Every table was taken, and there was already another party waiting for their to-go bag, but thankfully my hungry belly did not have to wait long for my Eel Avocado Roll and my Clear Soup, which I had never ordered there before. We felt the portion for the yaki udon was smaller than some of the other spots in Hoboken, but it honestly is a great size for one person for dinner, if you get an appetizer or roll with it. No apology, offer for refund, nothing. After calling back several times, and asking for a solution, or to speak to a manager, they put me on the phone and offered a refund. My food arrived 2 hours later to the dot. This is the last time I'll order from Okinawa. Too many good sushi spots in town to deal with terrible customer service and awful wait times. read more

Okinawa was a long time takeout staple for us years ago, always quality and affordable sushi and appetizers, we've recently moved and gotten a lot closer to the restaurant so we decided to stop in for an early weekend dinner. The place doesn't seem like all that much from the outside, with its less than scenic location especially compared to most other restaurants in the area, but don't let that fool you. The inside was clean, tastefully designed and intimate. It's clear most of the business for this place is primarily takeout, which is kind of a shame, but at the same time allows for faster in house service and a much quieter dinner scene than most places in Hoboken. The food was delicious, we ordered a 3 roll combo, chicken lo mein and pork gyoza and everything was very flavorful and affordable with some great presentation. We didn't drink but it is BYO which I always appreciate, so the meal only ended up coming out to $60 for the two of us which is pretty phenomenal given the quality of the food and service. I prefer Okinawa over some of the other sushi places in the area because the fish is consistently fresh, the food is prepared quickly, and the rolls are done very well. On this particular evening, I ordered the Spicy Scallop Roll, Salmon Roll and the eel roll. You can ask for the spicy scallop roll with or without avocado. All of the rolls were fresh and tasted delicious. I also like how there wasn't too much rice in each roll. Indoor dining is still unavailable here but if you call in an order for pickup it's usually ready in 10-15 minutes. Overall, Okinawa is a solid sushi spot with great service. read more

Tried take-out from Okinawa this weekend. I couldn't process my order online since it said my address was out of the delivery range even though I'm right by the Malibu diner so I had to call instead. Delivery window was 60-90 minutes and took full 90 minutes to arrive. The fried cheese wontons were good and a big portion size - they'd probably taste better in person though since they weren't that crispy delivered.
