After hearing so much about Blu on the Hudson, it absolutely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere is beautiful, with incredible waterfront views and an upscale vibe that still feels welcoming. Service was attentive throughout our meal without ever feeling rushed. The food was the real star. The Short Rib Hash was outstanding--tender, flavorful, and easily one of the best brunch dishes I've had in a long time. The Steak Frites was cooked perfectly with crispy fries and a great sauce. The biggest surprise, though, was the sushi. We ordered the Blu Roll, and it was phenomenal. It honestly ranks among the best sushi rolls I've had in quite a while. Everything we ordered was well executed, and you could tell there was real attention to quality and presentation.
Was able to get last minute reservations (15 minutes before) on a saturday evening. Place was pretty busy and upscale. I had to use my chase sapphire dining credits and this restaurant was part of it, and I happened to be nearby. Everyone was dressed nicely, meanwhile I come in with my orange spyder jacket (it was raining) Anyway, food was pretty good. Octopus- it was pretty good as I love octopus legs but thought the texture needed a bit more bounce to it. I still enjoyed it. Steak delmonico- decently good as well. I ordered it medium rare and thats the way it came. I didnt order any sauce on the side for it but maybe u should. I figured the whipped potatoes and truffle creamed spinach would be good sides that can double as sauces. But their truffle butter sauce sounds pretty good. Chicken parm- it was surprisingly good. The cheese complimented the chicken so well. I think I liked this more than my steak. Whipped potatoes- delicious Truffle creamed spinach- pretty good as well Overall, i had a nice evening here. Ambiance is slightly dark and romantic. Waiters were nice.
I went to Blu on the Hudson with my family this weekend and had such a great experience. The restaurant was extremely busy, so we did have to wait a little for our reservation, but honestly the food and overall atmosphere made it worth it. We ordered everything family style, which made the experience even more fun. We had the gnocchi with hand-rolled pasta, spicy vodka sauce, and local ricotta, truffle French fries, octopus with lemon potatoes and kalamata olive emulsion, calamari with cherry peppers, crispy lemon, saffron aioli, and sweet tomato, plus the lobster mac & cheese with lobster béchamel and white cheddar. We also shared a steak that was absolutely delicious, even though I can't remember exactly which cut it was. Every dish we ordered was flavorful, rich, and beautifully prepared. The ambiance here definitely gives upscale and elegant vibes while still feeling lively and fun. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a nice date night spot or somewhere to celebrate a birthday, graduation, or milestone occasion with family and loved ones.
Blu on the Hudson is the perfect place for date night, girls night out, or celebrations. It has a sleek and modern esthetic, a sophisticated vibe, and the service and food match the ambiance perfectly. One thing I loved about the cocktail menu were the detailed descriptions and photos. It made it really easy to decide, and I wasn't disappointed by my choice. I had the Don't be Shy, which was vodka-based and had soju. It was very refreshing and was mixed perfectly. Since the restaurant iis known for sushi and pasta (and steak), I decided to try one of their Lincoln Harbor rolls which had crab, bluefin tuna, avocado, and wasabi yuzu. It had a kick to it and the fish was very fresh. I also had a side of the lobster mac and cheese, which was creamy and filled with lobster. My mate had the bolognese pasta dish and it was finished very quickly, which is always a good sign. All in all, I had a fantastic meal with excellent service and look forward to returning soon.
Gave Blu on the Hudson 4 stars. Went for my mom's birthday and had a really nice time. We sat outside, the ambiance was beautiful and just set the vibe for the night. Service was great our waiter Giovanni was on point the whole time, super attentive and his recommendations were actually really good. For appetizers we had the fried calamari, spicy shrimp, Caesar salad, and the tuna on crispy rice everything came out fresh and flavorful. For our entrées we ordered the skirt steak, lamb chops, chicken parmigiana, cacio e pepe pasta, and pasta bolognese. No complaints, everyone enjoyed their food. They do have valet, which helps because parking over there is definitely a headache. Overall, really good experience and perfect spot for a celebration. Would go back.
Throughly enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The setting is beautiful and is right near the Hudson river. The service was pretty nice while we were being attended to but unfortunately it took forever for our entrees to come out and to make it more frustrating, no one acknowledged it. It felt like the staff was purposely ignoring our table. They would ask other tables how they were doing and skip our table and ask others how they were doing. It's nice to be acknowledged, especially if it's regarding a negative thing. They could've offered a complimentary drink? Something? Bread? Anything?!!! We waited about 40 minutes or so for our entrees. Thankfully, the food was good and helped mend the frustrating a bit. I'd come back. The food was good and the ambiance nice. Perhaps the long wait for entrees was a fluke.
Flew in from Miami to try this spot and it did not disappoint! I made my reservation 2 weeks in advance after reading the reviews. My girl and I arrived at 6:55 for our 7:00 and were seated almost right away. The hostess initially attempted to seat is down this long hallway near the service area with no windows. I wasn't impressed and asked her if she could move us to a better table which she promptly obliged. After we sat down at our new table man oh man! Talk about a sexy, sophisticated ambiance! The place had a fun, electric energy to it which I really appreciated! Everyone was dressed superbly! The DJ was amazing too! Definitely set the tone for the night. My friend and I ordered a few glasses of prosecco and she had the lamb chops while I tried the chopped salad and the lobster Diavolo. Both were superb! Out waiter Dylan explained that it was seasoned a little on the spicier side so I asked if they could prepare it a little milder for me if it wasn't too much trouble. They did and it was absolutely amazing. A nice touch was when Jake, the Hospitality Lead stopped by our table to check on us and gave us an even warmer welcome when he heard we were from out of town! It was a great ending to a superb dining experience!
10/10. The food and staff were phenomenal. Best meal I've had since moving here. I definitely now have a go to spot. Highly recommend!
Such a beautiful restaurant yet the food/service was extremely disappointing. I went to dinner with my daughter and granddaughter who is 7 years old. The decor and feel of the restaurant is gorgeous and sexy - perfect for a date night. The first disappointment was they do not offer a kids menu (despite there being several kids at the restaurant at the time we were there). In my opinion if they are not going to offer specific menu items for kids, at least their appetizers could be more "kid friendly". They do offer chicken parm as an entree (more about that later) and it would seem like that cutlet could be sliced to make chicken tenders. When I asked my waiter (I didn't get his name), he said they don't offer anything for kids and asked if we wanted to order shrimps for her which was a no go as she is allergic. At that point I asked for a bread basket which we were told they don't offer that either. Ok we were off to a great start (not). I started with the "Don't Be Shy" alcoholic drink - it was a good if you wanted a glass of juice as I don't believe there was an ounce of liquor in that drink. My daughter ordered a Sidecar which she said was good. For apps we had the east oysters and I ordered the spicy tuna sushi rolls. The oysters were beautifully presented, however they were so small and for a dozen oysters we only got one slice of lemon to share between the two of us. The sushi roll was good. For entree I ordered the lobster fra diavolo, my granddaughter had pasta with bolognese and my daughter ordered chicken parm. Now let me just say that I have NEVER been at any restaurant that offer any type of parmesan dish that it doesn't come with a side of any type. I mean who eats only a plate of chicken parm? Not only that, you would think the waiter would have asked her if she wanted a side (which we would then know it didn't come with it). We waited about twenty minutes for our entrees and when we realized it was just a plate of chicken parm and asked for a side of pasta with sauce, we were told it would take at least another 15 minutes for the side. How disappointing. I did taste it tho and it was pretty good. My lobster fra diavolo on the other hand was bland. It was slathered in sauce and the sauce was spicy but it had absolutely no taste to it. Lastly our waiter gave me the impression that he didn't want to be bothered - I had to flag him down for everything, including the check. He never checked on us to see if we wanted/needed anything at all. Needless to say I was quite disappointed and expected more for this fine dining establishment.
Service is deplorable to the point that they bring the main course and there's no silverware on the table... The bartender was very arrogant she ignored us for a while until she had no option but to approach us after going around the bar for no apparent reason
Not much to say , come to this place enjoy the atmosphere. Water front view and most of all the food . We tried 4 of their rolls a great variety and all of them tasted good . This place has something for everyone
Blu on the Hudson has a beautiful interior--dimly lit with tall ceilings and a cozy fire pit that sets a great atmosphere. The wait staff was pleasant throughout the evening, and the host even came by our table a few times to check in, which I appreciated. My friend and I both ordered the filet mignon, and the steak itself was cooked perfectly and well seasoned with a peppercorn crust. I had mine with fries, which were hot, crispy, and a generous portion. I did ask for fries without truffle, and while they were able to accommodate the change, I was surprised to see that they only do truffle fries, not regular fries. My friend ordered the mashed potatoes and said they were good. We also tried the creamed spinach which was great. A little heavy on the cheese/ cream but still tasty. The steak sauces are also an additional charge ($7 each), though they did provide chimichurri sauce complimentary, likely due to the wait. Unfortunately, the food took a very long time to arrive--close to an hour. While the host was apologetic and offered complimentary candied beef bacon while we waited (a nice gesture), the delay was long enough that I nearly lost my appetite, which is a real shame because this was probably the star of the evening. It was sweet and I loved that it was beef bacon so I could actually eat it. But I was so hangry at that point that I ended up packing it instead. One uncomfortable moment stood out: while checking in with our reservation, the doorman repeatedly insisted that I sit while waiting for our table, even after I said I preferred to stand. It became awkward enough that the woman managing reservations had to intervene. The interaction felt unnecessary and uncomfortable as a guest. Overall, the food itself was good, but between the extremely long wait and the awkward front-of-house interaction, what would've been four star experience felt more like 3.5.
Stopped by Blu on the Hudson for Valentine's Day and had an amazing experience. The vibe of the restaurant is super chic and trendy and the food and service was impeccable. Valentine's Day had a special prefix menu which we chose the rice cakes, sushi tasting and Delmonico steak from. The sushi was som of the freshest and best sushi I've ever had and the steak was cooked to perfection. If you're looking for a great date night spot, you've definitely got to try Blu on the Hudson!
10/10 for me Granted I went on a Wednesday night at 6/7pm Parking garage available close by or valet for $20 Staff was excellent. Drinks were excellent Food was excellent Ambience was excellent Drinks.... Well I had one drink about doors times that night . It was called Stone Land and is was a lychee martini spinoff on stone and dry ice .... I dream about this cocktail . It was like $25 a pop lol Food.... I had the Lincoln Harbor roll which was EXCELLENT. Even my friend who does not like sushi liked it I also had the Blu Filet mignon which was stuff with blue cheese. I'm more of a rib eye gal but I wanted to try it with the blue steak and was pretty good and the truffled cream Spanish was just wow . You have to like truffle like I do :) Friend had shrimp cocktail and the lobster fra diavolo and love it as well . There was no room for dessert except another cocktail lol and I left with a doggy bag to eat for lunch the next day Hands down one of my NJ favorites. Will be back read more
First time dinning at Blu, but definitely not the last. The atmosphere here is stunning with a classy interior and unobstructed views of the Hudson River and Manhattan. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for a high end restaurant, which is another reason we'll return. As for the food, some bit hits, some just good, not great. We started with cocktails (which they have a really wild variety of) with their Rice Cakes. The tuna on top was fresh and the rice cake was nice and chewy. Definitely a hit. For an entree I order a filet with a side of whipped potatoes. The potato's were the big hit of the night. They were full of cheese crumbles for added flavor. Highly recommend. My steak was good, but not great. Having said that, at $55, I'd say it was a tremendous value. We also shared a Cesar salad which was sort of a wedge salad. Very tasty, my wife appreciated the deviled eggs on top, while I would prefer without. Not a big fan of eggs. Based on the very polite and attentive service, atmosphere, location and value, we look forward to returning soon. read more
What a beautiful, clean eats meal on the water. Such a fan of this place - it has the proximity to NYC without actually being in NYC. Plus you get the views of NYC. Seating wise there is plenty of seating inside and outside too. The lighting of the space is incredibly inviting with the white interior - it feels like the restaurant is pristine. Food wise - we decided to get a wide range of items from the menu from seafood salads and appetizers to steak to sushi. Overall, we didn't have one bad dish on the menu - everything felt clean, seasoned well, and came out pretty quick. The price is on the pricy side but it's worth it for the ambiance. Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu and hope for warmer weather to be able to sit outside! read more

Had high expectations for this restaurant but I was sadly disappointed. I think this is an overhyped restaurant with sub par food and service. Maybe the kind of spot you would meet up with a date or friend for a drink but nothing besides that. read more

I ate at Blu on the Hudson a few months ago and had a horrible experience. The food was over-priced and the server was indifferent at first and ANNOYED when we had to request anything. So I saw on the news about the offensive birthday cake for a handicapped customer at Blu on the Hudson -and I was NOT surprised. Who owns this awful place anyway?? read more
I took my sister-in-law here for my bridesmaid proposal, and this restaurant was the perfect place! From the beautiful New York skyline view, to the modern chic decor and the most amazing service from our waiter, David. The food was 100 out of 10 and our waiter made the perfect suggestions for our entrée choices. We started our meal with the crispy calamari that had beautiful slices of fried lemon slices that were to die for. For cocktails we did a Hugo spirits and one of their signature cocktails that was like a Paloma. Both of our drinks had the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing. For our main entrées, we chose the Bolognese and Wagyu skirt steak with a side of truffle fries. At first, I wanted to choose a dipping sauce for my Wagyu skirt steak, but our waiter, David suggested against it and said that the steak would be perfectly seasoned. To our surprise, he was 1000% correct! My steak was a perfect medium rare with a warm red center, and simply seasoned with just the right amount of sea salt and pepper! He still brought a side of chimichurri dipping sauce on the house, that we ended up not even needing! Overall, we had the most amazing time with the best service and a perfect meal! In general, Blu on the Hudson is a beautiful restaurant. Whether you're there for a date, birthday or just grabbing drinks, you'll be immersed in an aesthetic that cannot be replicated. The service was fantastic and my food was so delicious. Highlights were the appetizers because i thought they were so tasteful, especially the shrimp and the crispy rice cakes. The restaurant is beautiful with a view of the manhattan skyline. The food is delicious here. I enjoyed every single dish. The Caesar salad was the best I've ever had! The dressing was perfect. My next favorite was the branzino dish because it was so flavorful and the texture was on point. Also I'm not a carrot cake person but their carrot cake was very good. They even have a syrup to drizzle over it! Took off one star because the service was very very slow. Parking is difficult without using their valet or the garage. Garage parking is only $5 if you get it validated by the restaurant. read more

Everything was literally 10/10! From the moment we walked in, the service, ambiance, and food were all amazing. The views are beautiful, the decor gives upscale modern vibes, and every dish we ordered was full of flavor and perfectly presented. The bartender at the bar I totally forgot his name but he was extremely nice and made us feel comfortable while we waited for the rest of our party. I had a French 75, and we shared some calamari, which was perfectly cooked and crispy without being heavy. Once seated, I ordered the Wagyu Skirt Steak, Whipped Potatoes with Parmesan Crumble, and the Thick Cut Wagyu "Bacon." I also tried my friend's Sautéed Broccoli, which was surprisingly good! Everything that hit the table was flavorful, beautifully presented, and honestly had me thinking about it long after dinner. Seriously the food was so tasty I didn't even take many pictures lol The drinks were top-tier, the service was excellent, and the overall ambiance was modern, upscale, and cozy at the same time. Have been here a few times since opening and there's a reason I keep coming back. The most recent visit, I walked in around 10pm with no reservation, but was promptly seated. The ambiance is perfect for dates, birthdays, or "just because." The vibe is very upscale and sometimes the music could get a bit too loud, depending on where in the restaurant you're sitting. The food is amazing and there is something for every mood: steaks, sushi, pastas, etc. I have tried some of each but my go-to is the sushi and the pretty signature cocktails (!!!). The service here has never lacked and there definitely seems to be a set standard of service. read more

My girls and I came out for dinner, and let me just say--the food was the highlight. * Lobster Fra Diavolo - 9/10, flavorful with just the right kick * Wagyu bacon - 10/10, absolutely phenomenal and a must-order * Lobster mac & cheese - 6/10, not as creamy or indulgent as expected * Creamed spinach - 8/10, a solid side done right * Bolognese - 8/10, hearty and satisfying * Ricotta tortellini - 8.5/10, delicate pasta with great flavor * Mashed potatoes - 10/10, buttery perfection *. Caesar Salad - 10/10, so delicious For cocktails, the French 69 was the move--every lady at the table ordered it, and we all agreed it deserved a solid 9/10. Our server was super sweet, attentive, and made the night flow seamlessly. The only drawback here is the phone service--it's almost nonexistent. Even connected to Wi-Fi, don't expect a reliable signal, which makes coordinating a little tough. The check came out to about $380 for a party of five, which felt fair given the quality of the food and the overall vibe. Overall, Blu on the Hudson shines for its food, drinks, and warm service. Had a pleasant dinner here on a Saturday night with a friend who lived in the area. We made a reservation in advance and were seated roughly 5 minutes after checking in with the hostesses. The restaurant is huge and is right on the Hudson River, although you won't be guaranteed a water view. I found it unusual that we were seated at a large table for four even though it was just two of us. It felt a bit awkward at such a large table in the middle of a big dining room. The server was very nice though, and each dish came out promptly. We shared the Hamachi Crudo, the Lincoln Harbor sushi roll, the Branzino, and a side of asparagus. Everything was delicious. The asparagus was just a bit over salted. There are only four dessert options and we were pretty full, so we didn't get anything. All in all, I can see why this is a nice spot for a special occasion or birthday, but I wouldn't say it's a cozy/intimate vibe. read more

One of my favorite places to go for special occasions. The ambiance is elegant minimalist and leaves nothing to be desired. This is our second visit and the drinks and food were still great. I will note that the table side drink service is not available on the weekends. Our waitress was nice, Jessica explained the menu and drink options for our guests that were dining for the first time very well. We honestly love this place and recommend it to anyone looking for a great dinner. read more
I have been to Blu 20+ times since it's open and have many different experiences, some great & some not so great. I must say the last 4x I have been it has been great! They really have gotten it together. I also found the most wonderful waitress, Sarah, and she has served me the last few times. I cannot say how wonderful she is! She is excellent at her job. The food was also very good and the ambiance is nice. The restaurant is designed so you are not on top of fellow diners and I appreciate that. The management team is attentive and kind as well. You also can have the experience of going to the bar for a drink below or after dinner to make the experience even more eventful. I look forward to my next visit! read more

My friend and I came to this restaurant on a Wednesday to grab lunch and celebrate our belated birthdays with some sushi and drinks. For a Wednesday, the place was pretty busy around 2:00-3:00 pm. Aside from the beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline and the trendy/chic vibe, the food was pretty on point. This was my first time trying the sushi, and it did not disappoint! We also had the bolognese (not pictured here) which was a perfect dish to share. My friend had a spicy margarita, and I opted for an apperol spritz, just perfect! I'd like to come back on a Friday evening for a date night. read more

Came here for birthday cocktails and bc I was curious to see what the new places were now in this enclave. I hadn't been back since pre-pandemic when a Houlihans was still there and it has changed a lot. Blu on the Hudson exudes a very chic / modern / elegant vibe. I was impressed by the sumptuous entryway with sleek marble floors and fireplace. The bar is a few steps up and I loved how inviting the actual bar is with the wide bar area, comfy leather barstools and purse hooks (always appreciated). Happy hour featured some great cocktail selections and the bartenders were great! Ambience was good and the crowd looked fun. Valet parking was a bit of a cluster but those guys were working hard so all good. I'm always looking for a place for great dressy night out and this fits the criteria. read more
