She told them several times she wanted shoulder length and even marked the length with hair bands but the person cutting the hair cut it way past the mark putting it so short that she can't even make a pony tail. She has been a loyal customer for 2 years and that's what she got for it. She can't stop crying.. Horrible service, never going back here again. Will be reporting them to BBB as well. I don't normally post salon reviews, nor do I visit salons too frequently. However, my consistently positive experiences at Oksana Salon & Spa have kept me coming back for the past five months. SCHEDULING: I usually talk with Nina and Beverly in person or on the phone to schedule appointments. They are always friendly and patiently give me the information I need, even when I call back to ask a question I forgot to ask. WAXING: I had my first underarm and back wax with Natalie. She has the most calming demeanor and really made the whole process for me quick and with minimal pain. She applied a soothing balm on my back to minimize expected irritation since it was my first time getting my back waxed. I appreciated that she gave me thorough information on waxing aftercare/exfoliation. HAIR: All I can say about Zhanna is WOW. She's an expert at her craft and I can tell she loves what she does. Zhanna has been my go-to stylist since day one for hair cuts and balayage. She gave me the most beautiful, rich chestnut brown balayage that glows through my natural black hair. My hair also tends to be thick and a pain to curl, but Zhanna curls my hair so quickly and effortlessly! Anyone who books her will have a lovely experience. TEAMWORK: Last thing I just want to highlight, because I unfortunately can't remember everyone's names -- is that even though this salon gets booked fast and stays busy, the team works so well together. my experience at this salon made me want to die. I thought I might heal over time but the past 5 weeks it has consumed me. I had been growing my hair for 4 years. my job is very much in the public eye.. so it's been mortifying to feel so not like myself. I said I wouldn't mind layers so that my hair wasn't all one length.. but I did NOT want any length taken off (I was very specific about that). in a matter of moments I went from hailey bieber style hair to the emo choppy side swoop bang style of my 7th grade nightmares. the hair on top of my head is literally an inch long. I can't pull it back into any hair style. It looks hideous even 5 weeks later. I had a panic attack at the salon and Oksana's staff tried to take advantage of me by charging a few hundred dollars worth of product. In between hyper ventilations I told them no and that I didn't ask for all of my hair to be cut off and that I was having a panic attack (that part was obvious). what type of person doesn't have compassion for someone who can't even breathe? they ushered me out the door practically treating me like an animal that they had absolutely no respect for.. even though I had paid almost $500 dollars (I was so overwhelmed, crying and couldn't breathe I didn't know what to do). I've spoken to at least 4 other women who have had the experience of Oksana blatantly denying their request and cutting their hair way shorter than they asked for. you'll have a better experience if you have a 2 year old cut your hair. read more

I started with a single process and a blowout after seeing Oksana had good reviews online. The only reason I'm giving two stars rather than one is because I liked my colorist, and she did a great job... also they have footstools. Oksana did my blow dry after the single process. She did not even both to introduce herself, ask my name, or chat about the weather... she just came up to my chair and started yanking at my hair. Halfway through the blow dry, she started curling my hair??? Not *once* did she stop to ask what I wanted (straight or curly?), where I part my hair, whether I want any product, etc. Nothing. Just treated me like one of those practice heads and basically said "you're welcome, that'll be $80." OK, whatever, maybe it's just a personality I need to get used to. The hair looked nice despite some level of fly-aways. So I make a second appointment for a keratin express. This is where things really took an awful turn. About a week or two after I originally booked my appointment, I get some frantic voicemail from the front desk 24 hours before my appointment about coming in for a consult before I can come in for my treatment. I'm very confused by the last-minute request and simply explain that it's Wednesday morning, I'm at work, and I cannot drop everything to come in for a consult that day. I also calmly explain that I've been getting keratin express blowouts every five weeks for five years, so I struggle to understand the need to come in for a consult... The receptionist tells me that my stylist (Joanna???) advised that if I do NOT come in for this last minute, drop-everything consult, that I literally cannot come in for my keratin treatment. Trying to avoid any drama, I move some things around and *poof*, I'm present in person for a consult. The stylist is cold from the onset and immediately starts gaslighting me into thinking I ordered the wrong treatment. She tells me that keratin express treatments do nothing, that my hair will still be frizzy, and that it's not a smoothing treatment. I'm really confused about what she *thinks* I want. I explain again that I've been getting this same treatment every five weeks for five years so I know what I ordered, but thank you for the concern.... I am still truly so confused about the pushback and have never had to fight for a treatment I want at a hair salon? Anyway, she looks at my hair and indignantly asks, "*this* is your hair *with* the keratin?" I am shocked by the rudeness and simply explain, no, I've not had the treatment for several months because we just moved to Longmeadow and I'm in between salons. She was so ready to tell me how frizzy and awful my hair looks despite it having the keratin treatment (so she thought). At this point, I have no idea what she wants from me or what her concern is. Usually, a client calls a salon, asks to schedule a treatment, and they give her the treatment IDK. So I reiterate that I know exactly how my hair reacts to it, I know that it's not a smoothing treatment, etc, etc, and try to figure out what the problem is and why I'm here and not at work. After about ten minutes in the chair going back and forth about how ineffective keratin is (then WHY DO YOU OFFER THE SERVICE?!?!?!?!), she suddenly shifts to ask me "are you pregnant?" Let's ignore the blunt rudeness of the question for a second and pretend she was concerned for my wellbeing. I confirm I'm pregnant waiting for the next batch of excuses for why she can't complete my treatment. Apparently their keratin express contains FORMALDEHYDE. OK, red flag on its own. My last salon used Aveda products, which do not have the ingredient. I don't think any salon should be using formaldehyde on their clients. Apparently only the express has the ingredient so I say I'll settle for the full keratin, which is a much more expensive and intensive process (thinking she'd see dollar signs?!). She literally says, "well that's not recommended for pregnant women either." I ask "what's the ingredient in THAT one that is not recommended???" She says, and I quote, "it's just a big no-no." At this point, I am completely done fighting. I'm not going to force this lady to defrizz my hair... She CLEARLY does not want me there, and I feel super weird and silly and discriminated against. I express my disappointment and say that I wish we had taken care of all of these talking points when I booked weeks ago. She immediately starts victim blaming me for not disclosing on the phone that I'm pregnant when I booked?? Regardless, I was talking about the consult I was forced to attend just to be denied service anyway. The worst part of it all, besides feeling discriminated against and literally just being shown the door, is that she could not have been less interested in helping me. IDK what I did, but she never once offered a safe alternative, or tried to work with me, or asked what I'm looking for, or made any sort of suggestion under the sun. I have been a loyal customer of Oksana salon for 5 years. My original hairstylist left the salon, so I decided to try someone new there named Kaylee. My hair has always cost 200 dollars and when I went to check out, they said it was 600 dollars. No one mentioned once that the price was going to be triple. Kaylee performed services on me without my consent and expected me to pay an excessive amount of money for it. The salon charged me by the hour, which is something not mentioned on their website. So, if you sit in the chair for a while be careful about how much they are charging you. In the past, they have never charged me by the hour so this must be their new policy. I am a hard-working student, and this salon took advantage of me. I told them I could not afford that amount and they told me that they never look into their client's finances and assume everyone who gets in the chair can afford their services. I started to cry, and they told me I could not leave or to figure out someone who could come and pay it for me. Overall, I do not recommend this place, and I caution you to use their services. If you want to get tricked into paying 3x the price and be expected to pay whatever they decide that day. The staff was extremely rude and nasty to me, and I have been upset since my experience. read more

I went to get my eyebrows waxed, and when I got in there I asked the woman to just clean up my eyebrows. She waxed my eyes, and never showed me my eyebrows in the mirror after she waxed, and when I got into my car to look at my eyebrows I still had a ton of hair left. It looked like I didn't even get a wax. Then the following day I woke up with irritated skin that made it look like I had a bunch of mini zits around the area that she waxed. I still have red bumps after trying everything, and I ended up plucking my own eyebrows. Wasn't worth the $19. read more

I made an appointment through their website. It was fairly easy, and you earn 1,000 points for using their online services. Yes, score! Every 1,000 points you earn you a get a $1 discount for future services. You get to choose 3 days/times that would work for you and receive an e-mail a few days later requiring your confirmation. FYI, their mobile website does not work for scheduling appointments. I love the Longmeadow Shops, it's close to home and there is always mad parking. I arrived a few minutes early, but maybe I should have gotten there a few minutes before, there is paperwork that needs to be filled for all new customers. I was immediately greeted and was sent to the back to put my smock on. There is a little sitting area in front with coffee, teas, candy and mints for the guest as they wait. Zhanna was my hair dresser. Each hair cut comes with a wash, if you didn't notice it on their price list. There are three different levels of cut. She did an excellent job washing my hair; she was thorough and didn't get water all over my face, unlike the last place I was at. She took her time cutting my hair and ensured that it was evenly cut. She used a razor at the end of my hair when she was completed with her incisions, which was a new thing for me. I guess it makes thick hair appear to have a softer cut vice blunt cuts at the end. Once she was done, she blew dry my hair and straighten it at the end. I was pretty amazed with the location of the hair dryer, it was installed into their ceiling, pretty cool. My hair was super straight when she was done, I was amazed! I have really thick and wavy hair, FYI. The total for all this was $55. Pretty reasonable! The salon was beautifully set up. I felt at ease once I stepped in and realized immediately that I was going to really like it here. The service was exceptional and the salon was immaculate. I saw the girls in the shop constantly working on something if they weren't attending to a customer, whether it was decorating or cleaning. I was exceptionally pleased with my hair cut and decided to book my next one as well as a cut for my three year-old. I told my husband about the place, and he is going to check it out also. I will have to come back here to check out the rest of their spa services! You get points for pre-booking, referring, trying a new department, as well as checking-in (FB only, not Yelp yet). But maybe they will start to do it on yelp too... Hint, hint . If you're looking for a salon, stop by and check this out! My husband said that a modern touch with comforting earth tones that make the salon feel welcoming. True that! I had accidentally booked an appointment at a different salon for myself and three year old daughter for a hair appointment for my mother's funeral thinking I had booked at Oksana's. We arrived at 9 and the funeral was at 11am so there would have been no time to change salons. The manager was so kind and when she realized my error she spoke with the owner Oksana who rushed into super hero mode and took myself and my daughter in and gave us the 4 star treatment. Lindsey has been cutting hair for our family (at Oksana's) for about 2 years. Consistently does a great job and listens to what the customer tells her and asks for. Products are quite expensive, but they're usually worth it. In addition, the hair wash & condition comes free with the haircut (unlike a different review said). Went in for a full foil - 1st time at this salon. I have short hair. Bob just about chin length. Prior to starting, the stylist explained the pricing - 110 for 1st bowl of product and then 10 $ extra for additional foils, 40$ for toner etc. etc. As she used initial bowl of product, she completed about 1/4 of my head. I sat there literally sweating with fear ... She went back 5 times to get "more product". With that said, the color/highlights came out wonderful. Really lovely. My only complaint is that I had NO idea what I was going to end up paying until I went to the register. So on the website where it say Full Foil 116.00, it really means "starting at". It ended up costed $250.00 - I wouldn't have minded paying that - but an experienced stylist should have a pretty good idea how much product, time, foils etc needed once evaluation of thickness and length as well as desired color- and be able to give a quote prior to starting. I have had my hair highlighted 300 times in my life - in many high priced cities, as well as small salons. I never had to sign a contract that this was how I was going to be charged ( yes, I had to sign a piece of paper...), nor being at the mercy of "additional product" lol. They need to change this- a very unsettling, and unacceptable pricing system. Not the overall price, which wasn't cheap - but the complete uncertainty of the end result. I started going to Oksana a few years back and loved the skin care I received. However, my hair was a different story. I dreaded going each time bc I always felt rushed. The stylists hurt my scalp and were rough at times when washing or drying my hair. The last time I went, I asked for an ombré. They completely had no idea how to do it and put highlights in instead (this is when ombré style first became popular). I complained and went back for a second try and the stylist dyed all of my hAir except the roots, way up high, unlike an ombré where highlights are gradual and blended at the bottom. I left w dark brown bangs and roots and orange/blondeish hair on the bottom. Disaster! I wasn't charged thankfully, but again I was rushed. I will never return!!! I loved the skin care though. The owner was rude and pushy and the staff was overwhelmed with a person like me who knows what to expect from a great stylist. I was sent out half done, came back for finish up was charged full price for color correction.. After $500.00 in hair color.. NO CUT I was never happy with results. A week ago yesterday, I dropped into the salon and inquired about a hair cut for my son. I was advised to set up a "consult" with Lindsay and was quoted $35. Yesterday we came in for the consult. We met with Lindsay and we discussed a haircut and my son showed her photos. After the consult, I sat down and waited. The haircut took a while to start and I asked what was going on and he was being given a pretreatment conditioner. Never was I told about that or any cost. After the haircut she began blow drying his hair, which is naturally VERY curly. Then she started to flat iron his hair. I got up and asked why and she said he was curious as to how to straighten his hair and she said "Why not show him?" Why not? because he is a minor and not paying the bill and I am. I am sitting 10 feet away. So basically, my $35 hair cut ended up costing me $60. For a boys short hair cut and a style that lasted until he showered that evening. I am SO incredibly disappointed and angry. Your salon i s very, very close to home and we were hoping that we had found a place that we could frequent for his hair needs. After yesterday, there is no way we would come back. I have to make sure to let all my friends and neighbours know to lock down EVERYTHING at Oksana. Two strikes and they're out. I went for a bikini wax - she must have been brand new. This job was crooked beyond beyond belief. I had to keep the lights off for the next two weeks with my husband so he wouldn't laugh. Then today I took my 5 year old to trim her bangs. The nice young girl cut my daughter's hair exactly like I asked. Then, avant-garde Oksana (the owner) had to put her own stamp on it and cut the bangs all the way to the back of my daughter's head. I had to bring her back to fix it - at which time Oksana started yelling at me and saying she knows much better what my daughter's hair should look like when it's cut. What ever happened to "the customer is always right?" She embarrassed me in front of my daughter and the other customers and made this a very uncomfortable situation rather than just trying to fix it like I asked. Again, one mistake - maybe. Oksana's is clean and the atmosphere is typical of a higher end salon. I had my hair cut by Oksana and I was disappointed with the experience and the cut. Technically speaking the cut was fine but it's not my style and looked nothing like the photo's I showed her. She is clearly a talented stylist but came off as disinterested in giving me the cut I wanted. I was in and out in 45 minutes, 15 of which was spent with the girl who washed my hair, who was lovely. My cut felt rushed and the result was so far off of what I asked for, I couldn't be more disappointed. I'm always hesitant to try new stylists and Oksana didn't do anything to make me feel comfortable as a first time client. She barely spoke to me about what I wanted and didn't meet with me until after my hair was washed so had no idea how I normally style my hair. I would recommend the salon but only if you aren't too particular about achieving a certain look or feel confident that you can convey what you want done. read more

Was not advised the blow dry was extra and $35,00 for a blow dry is outrageous! Oksana didn't even color my hair! She had an assistant do it and she did the blow-dry which was horrible. There's not signage for that and I felt awful.. The second time my color came out terrible and had a green tint to it. I was a customer at this salon for over four years . I recently went t o the owner who I had been going to for two years. I had a problem with my hair caused by her over processing my color. I went back for help and was was told she did not want to repair her mistake because she did not want people to know what she did . I would not recommend this salon to anyone . Don't be fooled by the pretentious decor. My appointment was with the owner, who ordered the shampoo girl to use a clarifying shampoo (twice) on my hair which had recently been colored by a top colorist in Boston. The shampoo removed much of the color, and I was in complete disbelief. When I brought it to the owner's attention, she denied that the shampoo could have removed the color. When I got home, I researched clarifying shampoos and learned that they are recommended to remove unwanted color. The salon would do nothing to compensate for their mistake. The owner gave me a cut that was mediocre at best and much shorter than what I had requested. During the cut she was distracted, spending most of the time giving orders to others. Find another place! I'm new in town and booked a cut and color. The color, cut, staff and atmosphere were all ok, certainly nothing special. But I walked out, got in the car a noticed my t-shirt was covered in hair dye! I've been getting my hair colored for nearly twenty years. I'm a military wife, so I've been to salons all over the country and overseas. I've never had this happen. Went back in, told the receptionist. She's was not apologetic, seemed more irritated than anything. She had me wait while she went over and spoke with a woman. When she came back she told me that she had spoke with Oksana and that they are not responsible for damaged clothing and I should have changed my clothes and worn an extra smock! I explained that I'd never been to the salon, no changing room was offered, no extra smock was offered and I've never ever had this happen before. The receptionist basically shrugged her shoulders! They let a new customer walk out the door! No offer of a discount, refund, coupon for my next appointment, nothing!! I called back promptly because I had a mani/pedi booked in a few days. Identified myself as "the client with the dye on her shirt" and requested my appointment be canceled and my new client information sheet be destroyed. And she said, "ok"! Find another hair salon!!! As nice as the salon looks the service is the worst. I had Oksana herself as my hair dresser and it was the most uncomfortable and unprofessional experience I have ever had. I had a color and cut. It took two months and a person that knows the trade to fix what she did. The color was to dark and the cut uneven. When I sat in her chair for a consult she talked to everyone else around her and barely had anything to say about my hair. Then she handed me off to her apprentice and I did not see her to the end of my appointment. She mixed the color had a apprentice put it on and wash it out. I had a different person for each step. Someone to wash, someone to color ,someone to blow dry. Then at the end Oksana rushed me into her chair and cut my hair uneven. I was left feeling like I was a bother to both Oksana and her staff. Oksana herself has a way about making you feel as though you are on a assembly line. When I was in her chair as she was cutting my hair she was talking to everyone else around me and I felt ignored. There was a women in the chair next to me Oksana just finished with. As Oksana was cutting my hair the women next to me was commenting to Oksana about how she was unhappy with her hair. Oksana brushed her off and carried on with her co workers. they have a long was to go before they can catch up to other professionals. The rude and cold and rather uncomfortable feeling I had when I was at that salon has never been felt in any other business I have been into. read more
