Finally got back here for dinner and once again we were happy to have Heather taking care of us. A rainy Sunday evening and we ate out on the covered lanai. I had the pork chop and mashed potatoes while my wife enjoyed a Cobb salad. Our friends shared a salad and a roast beef sandwich with onion rings that looked really good and got two thumbs up. The pork chop was perfect with gravy and onions. The only negative observation is that someone was smoking upwind of us. Employee area? Not sure but it's the law to be 20 feet away of doorways and cigarette smoke drifting down on our table was a bummer. Still a fun meal and well worth the drive. Tonight, after a trip south to South Point and Panalu'u Black Sand Beach, we went to the Konner Pocket Bar and Grill. My wife had a mixed salad and I had a bowl of French onion soup. Friends recommended Cornet Pocket. Had lunch several different times. It is a sports-bar; but location is outside of town and away from crowds. Lots of parking. They serve a traditional; but variety of Burgers, sandwiches, and of course beverages. read more

Family of 5, we were in Kona but a lot of place were busy and pricy. We decided to get out of town a bit and my wife found this place. Is it 20 mins outside of town? Yep! Is it worth it? 100%! Prices are reasonable especially considering the portion sizes. We even caught the tail end of happy hour and got some drinks and apps for awesome prices. The server was great too. We sat outside and it was gorgeous. There was some inside seating and a bar area with billiards. We are already talking about going back again before we leave. We have been here several times when we have come to visit our son. Their burgers are great. My husband and I split one because they are 1/2 lb each. When you get fries or onion rings it is more than enough for us. Our son says he likes to come for the happy hour burger. Even without happy hour prices it's a great deal. We always eat out on the patio. Small but very nice and our son can bring his dog. I highly recommend coming here. Next time I want to try the fish and chips. read more

Everything is great and save room for their desserts! The service is fantastic and all the staff is great! Great atmosphere and you cans dine inside or out in shaded comfort. A full bar and beers on tap including a nice selection of Hawaiian brews. Happy hour at 3:09 and their half pound burgers fill you right up. The owners take interest in customers and their staff! We went for lunch this week, so glad we drove out! We used to stop in often when we lived in Keauhou, we moved across Kona Town a few years ago and didn't get back out there until this week- we'll be doing ti again soon! They have more seats now and outdoor seating, what a great idea and looks so nice. It's easier to get to the Ladies Room with the new floor plan. Our waitress (with super earrings) spotted us and brought menus and told us about the Prime Rib French Dip special, and got our drinks right away. She called me Babycakes and that was nice... I haven't been called Babycakes for decades! Hubby got the Prime Rib Dip(it had red bell peppers, what a great addition to a French Dip.) I got the Club Sandwich with Lilikoi Coleslaw, very good and plenty of it. I took home 3/4th of my sandwich and ate the rest of it that night, no need to cook dinner. ...and as a bonus, there was a fine, fine cat hanging out on the neighboring staircase outdoors. We went here on Sunday branch with some girl friends to have lunch. Good choices on Sunday branch menu and foods were pretty good. Service was swift and friendly. The only thing was that 2 people from our table ordered Eggs Benedict, but they looked pretty different in sizes and presentation from one another. Hmmm.... Plenty of parking around this bar and they have live band here sometimes. Good place to hang out, drink, eat, play pool etc. read more

The food is really awesome, the staff are friendly, the prices are only slightly above what is reasonable for a sports "dive" bar but about the same as other local restaurants unless you go during happy hour- which is great! They are famous for their $10 happy hour burger and other happy hour menu items 3-6 pm. Recommend not sitting at the bar or anywhere near the pool tables- there's an outdoor seating area or separate area from the pool tables which is quite peaceful. This is one of my favorite sports bar restaurants due to the staff and quality of food and reasonable prices. I would give them five stars were it not for the bar/pool area. read more

Wow, I see my last review here was 8 years ago. This is just a reminder that the food is just as great as then, perhaps even better than I had remembered. The prime rib is action. It is very very good. Sadly, the menu says it's available Wed - Sun, but apparently it is now only Fri - Sun. Either way, if they have it, get it. The other thing that I either forgot about, or didn't remember- the fish and chips. Wow, I have to say these are up there with the best fish and chips in Kona. You get huge pieces of ono that are not hidden in thick coating (I'm talking to you Tropics). They are absolutely delicious. We ended up going back a few weeks later. The Guinness is still the best. Perfectly poured and perfectly tasting. I will have to keep a reminder to not forget about Korner Pocket when I'm thinking of things to eat up mauka (Kealakekua area). read more

We visited for a "Johnny Shots" music evening. I ordered their Mai Tai, which was tall & delicious and about $7.00! My husband and I shared Ono Fish & Chips and a Caesar salad.....both were delicious! They give you 4 large pieces of Ono, and it's one of the best items on the menu. We go every year while on vacation.....love the good food, and great music! (only kink was they forgot to reserve the table for the 10 of us, but it all worked out just fine) We will definitely be back! read more

Oh wow Food was pretty good as always. Onion rings a little greasy though but no big deal. The problem was the Waitress and her jacking our bill up. I didn't notice that till I got home. Not so good. Very rude considering we were all local people but 2 of us from Kona side so not regulars!! Everything we ordered she was like what do you want with that making us think our meal came with it. ....which both of ours were pretty pricey so we thought yeah that makes sense. My husband even told her he didn't think his came with anything but she still asked him. She did the same to me. Even asked me what kind of cheese I wanted. When I asked her what kind was offered she got super irritated. I really didn't want any but just picked one...but she never said it was extra nor did she inform us that the fries or onion rings were an extra charge with our sandwiches. So basically got charged for 2 sides we really didn't need although she lead us to believe they came with our meal and charged me extra for cheese. Cost us an extra $7.00. I gave her a huge tip not knowing anything that I just said above until I got home. Sorry.... Bad business and not sure if this is common practice or not because we don't go there too often.
