The lady who were at the store was friendly and very helpful. I went in after seeing the sign of the tea of the month being green chile biscochito. Green chile?? That totally grabbed my attention! I had to try it. It was so surprisingly good. It wasn't spicy, it was very well-balanced and refreshing. It has a splash of oatmilk but I couldn't tell at all, it was so clear and I could not taste it (not a fan of oatmilk). So of course because I'm already inside, I might as well try other teas. They have so many and there's a small sample that you can smell out of. My tea stock at home is maxed out at the moment but when I'm ready to restock, I know this would be the place to go! read more

Whenever traveling I'm on the lookout for a loose tea shop. Old Barrel Tea is a cute and charming shop. The lady working there greeted me warmly and gave recommendations. I bought 3 tins of an herbal blend. If you return with the empty tins you'll receive a discount. There is also a discount for teachers. Next year when I'm in Flagstaff I will return. I found this lovely shop through a recommendation from a TikTok creator. She raves about their tea, so when we were in Flagstaff for the weekend, I knew I had to check it out. The shop is so inviting and smells heavenly. Large assortment of high quality teas with interesting blends. Brittany was so helpful with her suggestions, never rushing me. Here's the tea: Old Barrel Tea is a small tea and accessory store in downtown Flagstaff. It's the perfect place to purchase a gift or souvenir for yourself. While the shop specializes in tea, they also sell an assortment of honey, seasonings, and even plant goods. Fantastic little tea shop in downtown Flagstaff! I absolutely loved it. I didn't have anything specific in mind but was mostly searching for unique blends. Old Barrel totally delivered. They had so many interesting offerings that it was difficult to choose. I ended up buying a Pecan Pie Puerh and a Lavender Crème Brulee Rooibos. I am enjoying them both. The teas came in adorable little tins (great for gifting). They also included all the necessary information such as steeping time and brewing instructions. The service was excellent. Really friendly and helpful. The employee answered all my questions and offered a few recommendations. They also have free samples of some of their teas (these vary, depending on the day). I am not one to leave bad reviews but the customer service I experienced today was insane. A tall woman with dyed blonde hair and glasses was incredibly rude. We asked her if there were any chais and she responded by saying "yup" and turning away. When we went to the register to buy she rudely rolled her eyes at us. I will not be back. read more

Prices are reasonable I love that they always have samples and the stat are very friendly and walk you through the different blends, ingredients and notes within their teas! The second location I've visited. The staff and their knowledge always precedes them! Seriously, I visited the Albuquerque, NM location and then this Flagstaff location on a road trip. My friends and I just stumbled into this shop by chance. It turned out to be one of our favorite finds in Flagstaff. We sampled some of the teas and were immediately sold on purchasing a few containers of loose leaf tea. My favorites were the Horchata and the banana bread coffee. I also asked if they had any hojicha which they didn't but they told me that another tea shop down the street might. They were super friendly and offered us a sample of their yerba matte peppermint tea that had a tint of honey which was amazing! Their tin cans and other products sold are super cute. I would leave a negative 5 if I could. I bought tea from this place about a month ago. When I got home, I realized I needed to buy a tea infuser. Disappointed the sales person didn't make mention, but not a big deal. So, I bought one online. I quickly learned the infuser I bought was too large as when I filled it with tea, it seeped right through into the water. I was visiting Flagstaff again a few weeks ago. I popped into the store, this time with a focus to buy the right infuser. They sell them. Great! While I was there, they had a few blended teas to sample. One of them was perfect for my taste, so I bought 3 more teas (blend is a 2 to 1 mix). I explained to the sales person of my mishap with the infuser I had purchased online. She showed me the one they sell. I assumed since they made the tea blend in the shop, it must be the same infuser they use. If that's not the case, I would expect the sales person to bring that to my attention since she knew what I had already experienced. I got home, so excited to try my new teas. What do you know? Same issue. The tea seeped through the infuser. It wasn't just a few particles. It was quite a bit of the tea. This time I was totally confused why they would sell me an infuser with their tea knowing that I should buy a different infuser. Visiting Flagstaff again this week. Took the infuser to the shop. Explained to the sales person of the issues. She said that it was weird and that it must have been the type of tea I bought. I showed her one of the teas I bought and explained the others I had recently bought. She said that there would be a few dust particles that get through. I corrected here that it wasn't a few dust particles. It was basically a large amount of the tea. She just kept saying that's weird. I asked her if they sold different infusers. She said no. I shared that I was confused how they make their tea with the infuser that tea seeps through. She said they don't have that problem when they make them. Okay, that makes no sense whatsoever. So I let her know I'd like to return the infuser I bought. She said I couldn't because I used it. I said, yes, once. She said I couldn't return it since it was used. I asked her how would I know it doesn't work if I hadn't tried it. She said she was sorry but I couldn't return it. I let her know I was very disappointed and that they just lost a potential regular customer. She didn't seem to care. What I didn't mention is that I have 2 vacation rentals in town. I provide a listing of recommended shops and eateries. This will be the first time I will add a list of negative experiences and to avoid this shop. I'm a strong believer in supporting local shops.
