I was so sad when they closed old Chicago in Roseville. We had been going there for years . When we went up to duluth we had to check out this place. We weren't super hungry but we indulged jn the Italian nachos , wings and the spinach dip. Definitely a big yes for the Italian nachos, I missed them so much. I didn't partake in the wings since my brother and boyfriend went Tennessee hot but they enjoyed them. The spinach dip was a no for me but my brother enjoyed it. They still have a huge selection of beers . Since we were just jn town for a couple days we did not partake in the flight to get the cinco de mayo tshirt . The service was awesome and I loved the sense of humor our server had . Would recommend. There are not many Old Chicago Pizza joints in Minnesota anymore so when I come up to the Duluth area, I like to stop by and partake in some good beer and bar food. The pizza is pretty good but honestly, the two things I enjoy more than that are the Italian Nachos and Buffalo Chicken Rollups. You can make a meal out of just those two appetizers alone and they are so good! This location is right in the heart of Canal Park and is attached to The Suites Hotel, so it is a great and easy choice to pick when staying there. My family can enjoy the pool and hot tub area while I walk to pick up dinner and I don't even have to go outside! Love it. Service is friendly and quick, picking up is a breeze and wait times are low. You can't go wrong with beer and pizza and is a choice that my family loves when we are looking for something delicious and quick. Pizza wasn't bad, but the service was pretty slow. We ordered mostly cheese pizzas, a salad, and fries, and it took more than 50min to arrive. After we ordered we didn't see the waitress again until the food came. I'd expect somebody to at least stop by once to refill water or something during the meal. The place is also jam-packed with TVs wall-to-wall and the sound was up through the roof, so the atmosphere was a bit overwhelming and we didn't stand a chance of conversing. Had a group of 9 and no reservation on a Saturday and Old Chicago was very nice and found us a table very quickly. Once sat server was over almost immediately and the restaurant was very busy. My drink was delicious but very sweet. We opted for some appetizers and not pictured chicken strips and ranch. Most my friends are big ranch fans and swears Old Chicago has the best ranch. Old Chicago never seems to disappoint. Our waitress was awesome and came right when she noticed anything we needed. I got the best sour beer that i believe was an apricot sour beer it was fire. I got a chicken bacon ranch individual pizza which was flatbread it was bomb. I also got the buffalo wings no bone, those are delicious per usual. I used to love old Chicago the food was great, and the service was good, my husband worked there for like a year and during that time started having an affair with the general manager Kerry Williard, which has been very devastating for me and my family as well as borders the lines of sexual harassment to have sexual relationships with employess who work underneath you. Hopefully she is not continuing to do so but if I had to guess I'd have to say it's pretty likely. Obviously she is not very professional and clearly shouldn't be in this position, and this Was all discovered after going thru his phone and seeing sexually explicit photos of Kerry that she sent him. As well as indecent text messages. She was aware he was/is married, and after speaking to her in person she has continued to reach out to him. So as Far as atmosphere I'd have to say it's horrible. Asked for 3 forks and knives, none were provided and neither were napkins. Thankfully the hotel was great to find some for us. Old Chicago. After laying on the rocks for thirty minutes at a local state park we needed some fuel. Yeah, old Chicago sounded good. We walked in and they asked do we prefer a real life menu or a virtual menu? we decided on the real life menu. Now i'm glad I did as I see someone else had problems with the rendered menu. It was good vibes and the waitress was friendly and attentive. The only reason i removed a star is because our orders took about two centuries to come out and we were so hungry. It didn't seem busy either. But I have some empathy because you never know when someone doesn't show up for work or how can restaurants decide on a schedule in these unprecedented times? Directly in the lively city of Duluth, MN we have Canal Park in the middle of this amazingly lit up area on Lake Street South we have Old Chicago. This here, although I havnt clicked a "Check In" on this place due to not being on Yelp for very long, this is a regular place I love to stop at. The outside blue, red and silver colors give off a hip vibe that tourist and locals absolutely love. As you walk in your immediately greeted by staff who don't hold back on wanting to seat you right away. As for me, if ai have family I'd like a booth but if it's just myself and the wife or even just myself and a friend I like to sit where all the action is, right at the bar! Haha this place is definitely known to be a sports bar so as you look around you can see multiple tvs all with different sports on and even NASCAR racing, when it's game day usually in Sundays customers are all gathered to watch football!! And when the Vikings are playing the Packers.....we'll let's just say look out!! This place is pretty great any day of the week but what really keeps me coming back is the food and the variety of beers on tap. They are constantly rotating and it's amazing what comes in, what's in season, and what you can drink to add a notch onto your OC Rewards. If your local or make a trip to Duluth often it's worth to get on the membership and every beer you drink gets you closer to rewards, hats, sweaters, tshirts, pizza and wings!! This review was going to be much much worse until Jason the manager intervened in our experience. We were nearby at adventure zone and ordered our dinner online. When we were alerted that it was ready, we left our activity and walked to the restaurant. We also called the shuttle service from our hotel to bring us back. When we got to the restaurant, we told the many (4-5) employees at the host stand what we were there for and they said the order was being worked on but they didn't have an estimated time for us. A few minutes later, one of the hosts asked if we were waiting for a table and I let her know we thought our food would be ready and asked if she could check. She took our name and went back to the kitchen. When she returned, she said the order was nearly ready. The shuttle showed up shortly after. I headed outside and asked if the shuttle could do a lap since the food wasn't ready yet. Another 4 minutes later, the shuttle was back and I loaded myself and my toddler in leaving my husband to wait for food. When he asked for an update, he was informed the order wasn't even started but they were working on it now. I headed back to the hotel with my toddler with the plan to get our truck and come back to pick up my husband. All in all, we thought this would be a simple order with a simple pick up process but it turned into a real mess. As I'm writing this, my husband is walking back to our hotel from canal park with the food as I try to get our toddler down to sleep at a decent hour. I called the restaurant because my husband is too nice to complain but an hour wait for Sicilian rolls, a pesto chicken dish and a chicken Caesar salad is ridiculous. And Jason the manager agreed. He was completely in agreement that the order should not have happened this was and he comped our entire meal. If Jason had taken a different approach with me, this review would have a very different tone. I appreciated that he took accountability for his team and was genuinely apologetic for our experience. All in all, I can appreciate that it's a busy Saturday night. I can also appreciate that restaurants are severely understaffed. And we are reasonable, patient customers with service industry experience in our pasts. We get it. But we also know what's unacceptable. Stopped to Old Chicago Pizza around 9:30pm, ordered a pizza to go from a very friendly hostess and sat at the bar to wait. Bartender gave us samples of 6 different beers to try, to find ones we liked. So friendly and nice. Pizza was awesome too! Split a side caesar and an original cauliflower crust pizza, with a blueberry cider on the side. Everything was delicious, but the pizza in particular blew us away. It genuinely was just like a "regular" thin crust pizza, no awful crumbly bits usually associated with cauliflower crust. The salad was fresh and creamy. The cider was perfectly refreshing and a great choice on a hot day. Service was pleasant. However, they don't provide them or sell them and there's not any sign outside that indicates anything other than social distancing. We came back (not the smartest decision I ever made), Then they allowed us to seat ourselves about 4 feet from the hostess stand which all kinds of people touched without them sanitizing a thing. Their windows are filthy including the main entrance door and seating area. The main entrance door is completely covered in smudges from dirty fingers, not once since our 45 min stay has anything been cleaned or sanitized! The bathrooms are in complete disarray.
