It was AYCE but I would be surprised if you could want more after the first plate with their generous portions sizes. The fries were in-house hand cut and covered with Parmesan cheese. The fish was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. It was a great Up North-style fish fry. The BBQ was very good as well. I tried the pulled pork sandwich and it came on a giant bun. Once again, the portion sizes were very generous. The sandwich came with a side of homemade BBQ sauce but honestly the meat had such a good flavor I didn't even need to add any to the sandwich. I have to give them a thumbs up for making many of their items like sauces and sides in-house even though it seemed like they could get away with less quality for being a small town bar & grill. This place really hit the spot, we were looking for no frills comfort food, and that is exactly what we found at The Shack. Price point vs. portion sizes were great and the service was small town friendly and prompt. This location is right in the heart of Canal Park and is attached to The Suites Hotel, so it is a great and easy choice to pick when staying there. My family can enjoy the pool and hot tub area while I walk to pick up dinner and I don't even have to go outside! Love it. Service is friendly and quick, picking up is a breeze and wait times are low. You can't go wrong with beer and pizza and is a choice that my family loves when we are looking for something delicious and quick. Now that Old Chicago is harder to find where we live, it is even more of a treat for us.
