Great stop for pizza near UMD!! Service was fast, the inside is comfortable, with tables & booths, and they have TV's around the restaurant to watch different games. We ordered the cheese bread to start and it was delicious, I like that they serve the marinara dipping sauce hot. We got the chicken Caesar salad to share, the chicken was seasoned perfectly and juicy, they have a great Caesar dressing. We ordered the house pizza to share, it has tons of cheese!! Ordered via phone, was on hold for 4 minutes, was told order would be 45 minutes, maybe an hour...closer to 1 1/2 hours... not the first time this has happened! The pizza here is pretty good. Unfortunately the service is quite lacking. It reminds me of local diners you see on TV where everyone knows everyone and they are unfriendly and unhelpful if you are new. We visit every few years and I always regret choosing it when there are so many good restaurants nearby. One of our orders came about half an hour before the other. When I explained this to the server as we were leaving, she was unapologetic. Nobody checked on us during our time there to see if we needed more drinks or how our food was. Not recommended. This is without exaggeration, we waited for our food after we ordered for 65 minutes. I ordered the mushroom and Swiss and my wife and daughter ordered a pizza. The pizzas are like a middle of the road pizza from the grocery store and the burger was clearly out of a box, and the french fries were out of a big bag. Very basic. The food was just OK, however, far more expensive than the taste it gave. There are many good restaurants with much better food and much better money. The enormously long wait for our food was very frustrating. This little place was perfect for lunch on our Duluth trip. The pizza special was awesome, breadsticks were good but the pita with the homemade tzatziki sauce sealed the deal. So good! This was a good local find while in Duluth. I've had Pizza Luce add Sammy's so decided to go for something you'll only find in Duluth. This place is located near UMD campus and so it has the college vibes. My husband went to pick up the order and said they were super busy and friendly staff. We ordered a medium supreme pizza with the second half having only cheese but we got the whole supreme instead. The kids mac and cheese looks like it was one of the Kraft's single serve containers and it came with mandarin oranges from the can and it tasted funny like it was old. The pizza was not greasy add I feel it's a cross between Jakeeno's and Broadway Pizza in Minneapolis. The toppings are nice and it doesn't taste salty at all. I could finish half of the pizza myself because of the low sodium content. Four stars for the pizza and because it was not done to our request with half cheese only for our girls to eat too. Luckily, wet have the mac and cheese order for them. I wish that they would have an adult size mac and cheese. Would definitely order pizzas from here again. read more

This was fine. I don't think it was bad but not amazing. Pizza was slightly burnt and tough on the bottom but chewy as well. Breadsticks were not salty at all. We ordered inferno wings but it wasn't spicy at all. The tiramisu cheese cake was fine but I wouldn't get it again. I am not a huge fan of cheesecake in general. read more

Visiting Duluth from Arizona (for obvious reasons.) :-) and had a pizza craving. Found Bulldogs online and decided to give it a try. It was not busy when we arrived, even though it was well after 5. I counted 6 servers, so I figured they were anticipating some business. Our server was friendly (didn't give her name), helpful, and efficient. We ordered the supreme pizza and it was delicious! Cheesy and flavorful. The beer was cold and refreshing and our server was on top of it. It was getting kind of warm in the restaurant and they had propped the door open and all of the servers were fanning themselves, so it was apparent that the A/C was not working. I never imagined this to be a Minnesota issue! It happens a lot in AZ. Not a huge deal for us and I'm happy to report that they were getting busy as we were finishing up. The pizza was really good and I would definitely recommend. There was a male server working who did a great job try to soothe a crabby toddler, so kudos to him. We're in Duluth, MN for a few days and we were looking for some inexpensive food for dinner. I went online and found Bulldog Pizza and Grill up by the UMD campus in Duluth, MN. It was a large place, a tad cold (but that's ok!) and not busy. We ordered a Swiss Mushroom burger, a Rueben Sandwich and Onion rings. The burger came with seasoned fries that were excellent! Crispy, tasty perfection! We couldn't say enough good things about those fries!! My husband enjoyed the burger quite a lot too. I had the Rueben which was cooked just right with dressing on the side ( SO mush less messy!). It tasted great! The Onion Rings we're done to a tee too. My husband and I have both been restaurant cooks and we're picky when it comes to how our food is cooked. Bulldog did it absolutely PERFECT in our books! Our waitress was a sweet college girl and very friendly and chatty. She was happy to hear that I'd found them on the web and we were from out of town. When you're in Duluth, MN and want a really good Burger, Sandwich. YUMMY fries and O rings, for a decent price, head to Bulldog Pizza and Grill up by the UMD Campus. Terrible service! The place was very dead and the waiter passed us 5 times and completely ignored us with 3 empty cups. Not like he was busy. Plenty of time to sit around talking to coworkers. Back when it was on the lower level I used to hangout in the big doghouse. Great memories in there. Met my first friend, albeit imaginary and was basically the ninja turtle Michaelangelo they were still formative memories to my childhood. Anyways, I ordered a non pizza item on this last adventure. My first visit to Bulldog Pizza was very disappointing. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza with thick crust. The crust was dry, old and overworked. The pizza was drowning in bbq sauce. Ordered a simple soup & salad combo -- half a sandwich (choose among 3 brea d types and, I think, 4 different meats.) I got pastrami and a cup of French onion soup. It cost about $8.75 and was just the right amount and size for a meal, at least for me, without feeling stuffed. This item is among the cheapest on the menu. The soup was quite good and had the piece of French bread covered with a piece of cheese atop it. The sandwich had lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard along with a pickle on the side. Only disappointment: The brownie I ordered at meal's end. For about $4.75 it's the size and thickness of a piece of sandwich bread -- quite adequate. But half that was frosting, and the flavor was mass-produced and artificial/additive/preservative laden -- like a Little Debbie product. Duluth has some great bakeries. They should get their desserts from one of them, not their industrial food supplier. This is why I gave them 3 instead of 4 stars. Was there on a Monday evening. This place has been around for a few years now and I always seem to forget that it's there. They make good food and it's well priced but it's holed away on the backside of a small shopping center. Not the best location. The staff is nice and the service is pretty good too. I would recommend it if you're craving some cheap Italian food. read more

Everyone at work decided that for lunch we'd get pizza. I said anywhere is fine. I'm not from here so I'd try place at least once. We all chipped in and the guys ordered a supreme just for me. It smelled delicious when it arrived. Then they opened the box. It didn't look delicious. There weren't any veggies on it. Just a bunch of cheese and black olives. Where were all the veggies? No where to be found. But I had to give in and try it. Who knows it might surprise me. Well it did surprise me. It was drier than the desert. It was warm for nothing. Felt like I was eating cardboard. I tool two squares and those squares aren't very large, and I gave one away to one of the starving guys next to me and threw away the other. Disappointment. Not great, not bad. Our party enjoyed some cheap pitchers of Blue Moon and were seated promptly. The outdoor patio is small! Only 3 tables but we were lucky enough to snag one outside. The boys ordered a cheeseburger pizza to share and the large was actually pretty small, they polished it off and were happy with the quality. I guess the trick is to make sure they cook it with the pickles on it. I tried a Veggie pita wrap, pretty good but could have used some more veggies, i ordered it with coleslaw and that made for a pretty small meal, i left kind of hungry still. I hope fries would have been a larger portion but they were going to up charge me a whole $2 for a salad. really?? They also offer a cheap all you can eat spaghetti plate for $6 Friday before Grandma's marathon. My understanding that's the cheapest in town! I want to preface this review by saying that I used to work here about 15 years ago, so I am a little biased. I think that Bulldog has the best pizza in Duluth, bar none. The owner Ken is a real good person that works very hard and cares about his product. Whenever I'm in town, I always stop by and order the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and let me tell you, it is delicious. Great place to take the kids. The food is OK, solid middle of the road, consistent in quality. I've been with my 6 year old son maybe ten times and the staff always goes out of their way to make him feel welcome. There's a decent children's menu and a window in the hallway to watch them make the pizza. Kids eat free with an adult meal purchase on Wednesdays. Without my son I'm not sure I'd make the effort, but with him it's a slam dunk. read more

This is one of Duluth's most underrated pizza restaurants. It is hidden in the Mount Royal shopping center next to the public library. Their service is excellent and their pizza is great. If you have little ones, they have a perfect kids menu. Their pizza is a medium crust that is filling without being too hefty like a deep dish. Their sauce has a nice sweet tang to it and they use a great cheese blend. They have a few beers on tap and they are all fantastic. They alway pour Summit EPA and Surly Furious. They will have a seasonal tap handle as well. With great apps and subs, it is one of the best all around places in town. read more

Great pizza and great service. We have been coming here for years when we in Duluth. It is a traditional off campus pizza parlor with good beer but it was full of families as well the night we were there. I have brought my parents there in the past and they loved it too. They do have other items on the menu but the pizza is so good I am not sure why I would try anything else. But from what I saw on other people's plates it all looked good. Since they moved to the backside of the building it looks like they have added an outdoor area. But of course even Duluthians would not sit outside when it was below zero like during our last visit. read more

I honestly would not recommend this place altho I have been ordering on occasion for years simply because it is convenient (online ordering) and I do like their gyros. There are far better places that deliver. I would never get a pizza here. Worst pizza I have had in town. The prices are really quite high, especially for the quality and quantity f the food. They do have online ordering which I like. I wish they had a contact on the website for feedback. The menu used to be better and they have taken off their best items. The kids menu is a rip off. The burgers are over $5 for smaller than a slider and about 10 fries. I don't think the burger is more than 1 oz if even that. I really don't know how they stay open. read more
