Had lunch here about a week ago. Food was good. Could here female bartender talking loudly to a customer seated at bar. She said the f word at least 25 times. The cook was actively vaping as he prepared our food. Would come out of the kitchen doorway and exhale into bar area. Very disappointed to see the employees behaving this way. *Our food was very different compared to other photos and the actual menu they give you.. If there is a menu change then customers should be told. Overall, it was an unimpressive meal stop that we felt a bit mislead on. It was our first visit here. * There is one low top table there. We started with the tater kegs. They were tasty but slightly frozen in the middle. There were only 4 or 5 (i can't remember) that came in the basket so not a lot. The Pickle Ranch ruined their flavor though. It was terrible.. and no we did NOT order pickle ranch, that's apparently just how they make it even though the menu says "ranch." We had ordered 2 "ranches," and got charged for them even though we didn't eat them because they were gross. We got burgers. I was expecting a 1/2lb hand patty but there were two ¼lb patties stacked on the bacon cheeseburger and one ¼lb patty & two lb patties on to the Wisconsin burger...?? I'm not sure if that's how it was meant to be a another photo doesn't show that. The patties tasted similar to Sam's Club burger patties. They weren't terrible but lacked flavor and dripped in fat. The fries were not thick cut, they were shoestring fries. They had good flavor but we went there because of the photos of the thick cut fries and I personally don't like shoestring fries so to pay an extra $3.99 for something I, once again, thought I was getting was disappointing. First time customer glad we stopped! Right off the bat we all noticed how clean everything was including bathrooms. We ordered shareable items and everything was delicious! Sampler platter, bone in wings, sausage/pepperoni pizza. Everything was delicious. Service was also excellent! Bartender was in great spirits and quick to serve. Only bummer is they were out of the t-shirt we wanted to buy. Hopefully they will have them back in stock on our next trip through Superior. read more

Clean bar with super friendly service. Can't attest to the food as we just stopped for the drink but would definitely stop again

Minnesota Burger reporter Kawikamedia and his burger posse were looking to get out of their immediate hood the other day, and ended up at the Choo Choo Bar in South Superior, WI. The Choo Choo has been dishing up the goods for decades, on US 2, a great place to contemplate stopping if you are heading from Duluth to Bayfield or the Apostle Islands. They started with the complimentary Parmesan bites (free w/ pizza order), trimmings of pizza dough deep fried, and sprinkled with cheese. They reported they were very good when served piping hot. On to a thin crust pie, hand-stretched dough, and apparently sausage and pepperoni made to the bar's order, as well. read more

This place took me by surprise and was a delight. From the bloody mary that was HUGE to the friendly staff. I really loved my experience here. I would for sure come back for those garbage hash browns I ate the entire plate and was not mad about it at all. Did I mention the size of that delightful bloody mary? Terrible food. Terrible service. Will not be going back. One person in our party was given the wrong order. By the time they fixed it, everyone else was done eating. Normally we would have waited while everyone else had drinks, but the waitress never came back to refill them, or ask if we wanted anything else to drink. Been sitting here for 15 min with no service and employees sitting behind the bar eating or sitting on their phones. Not a great way to have people come back again. Can't even get something to drink...Really?! Then we finally got our food but of course they made the wrong thing and the bartender/Waitress gave me attitude when I told her to take it off my bill. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. It took two hours to get our appetizers and then another half an hour to get our food. Ans then when our food came out fries were completely cold and soggy not even edible. There was only one good worker there and that was the bartender. The two people working in the kitchen were both new and one of them was not able to take criticism nicely. The other one was being very unsanitary constantly using his gloved hands to pull up his pants and then going back to making food, his hair was also crazy and all over the place no hairnet or securement in place. My sister ordered the fish sticks and got a giant piece of fish filet no sticks. My grandmother ordered the mushroom burger there were only 2 mushrooms on there. Overall I say this is one of the worst places to eat. read more

Great bloody Mary's. Service was awesome. The cheese curds are a yummy combo with the Bloody Mary's.

Poor customer service skills. It was moderately busy but several open tables were available, so the 5 of us found a place to sit. We were ignored for a solid 15 minutes and never greeted. Went to the bar for menus, waited again, no service. Went to the bar for drinks for our table, waited another 7-10 minutes just for the bar to refuse to serve a standing customer, which could've easily been said initially. We were advised to go back to our table and wait for the server.. whom never came. After 30 minutes total we gave up and left. Went across the street to Gronk's where the employees were much kinder. Spent $150 + tip and had a great time. Won't be back to Choo. read more

If I could give it zero stars, I would.. For starters the service was terrible, it wasn't busy, I had to go to the bar for menus, waited 20 minutes for someone to come up so I could order drinks.. nope, I had to go back up to the bar to get drinks. 45 minutes later we got the food, but they got the order wrong then gave attitude about it being wrong and blamed me for their mess up. Went to choo choo all the time before new owners. Had a bartender that was absolute crap. Not the only one that complained about him even his coworkers that went in to eat were upset treated his customers like crap asked for shots a certain way REFUSED to make them the way I wanted and was a complete asshole. Do not recommend going there when he's bartending. read more

We took our 3 kids out for pizza and we were so impressed with choo choo. I love that it wasn't busy at all when we came, the waitress was great. I love that you get little pizza dough bites while you wait for your pizza to cook. It was a hit with our kids. The pizza was delicious, and the restaurant worked well with the kids who just wanted to get up and dance and move around while we waited. While it is a little more spendy than what we normally would prefer you get what you pay for and we left with a wonderful experience. read more

It's a bar, ok? The have well drinks and the usual lite beers, but some good beers, too. And then there's the food--YUM! My favorite is the Olive Burger, just a regular delicious burger smothered in sour cream and chopped olives. It's fabulous! I mean really really good. I think they pretty much make everything from scratch, so it's all several steps above your normal bar food. I don't get to Wisconsin often, but when we're driving through Superior, Choo Choo's is a must. Love it! read more

So very disappointed. Atmosphere is okay, for dinner it is quite dark. Had the fish fry and let me tell you, I couldn't even eat it. They may have cooked it twice, or cooked it in very dirty grease that was too cold. I'm not sure either way. It was very greasy and nearly black. My fries were alright, the jalapeño poppers were bland and mushy at best, and the mini tacos left much to be desired (the filling was over cooked right out of the shell). The cook was the one to check on my table, she looked outright angry when I explained that the fish didn't reach expectations. The fish was replaced, however it came back almost exactly the same, only a little less black. The cheese curds were the highlight of our meal. I've been here for breakfast and had a much better experience, I hope this was just a fluke. read more

Mothers' Day Lunch Was Spectacular! My daughter took me to the Choo Choo for lunch on Mothers' Day. We were warmly greeted as we came in the door. We started out with loaded Bloody Marys (mine was virgin) which was a great appetizer. They were delicious, we asked the barmaid what kind of mix they used and learned it is homemade! Oh, so good! We couldn't decide what burger to get - we decided we would try each other's. I ordered the special which came with melted ghost pepper cheese, mushrooms, and bacon - and a shrimp on a stick. She ordered the A1 burger with mushrooms and Swiss cheese and A1 sauce. The cook cut each in half and place them in our baskets already divided. Very accommodating. The homemade potato chips were not salty or greasy, they were great. I used to think a different bar and grill in Superior was the place to go for burgers but the Choo Choo gets my vote! This is where I will go to satisfy my burger craving from now on! read more
