Lisa salad-BIG salad on a little plate

Went for lunch today with friends. Almost walked right past it. There is a sign pointing to the upper level but I missed it. Seriously great old architecture, big windows, exposed brick. Lots of character. Service was OK. Place was busy but not packed. The salads were good and were brought out quickly. Pizza's took longer naturally. The other 3 all got pizzas that they really enjoyed. A fun place to have lunch on a weekend.

You know the pizza is bomb when it gets murdered like this.

Im not from the area, but this is the best pizza I've ever had! Also, Abril is probably the best waitress I've ever had too!

If you're looking for authentic deep-dish pizza, this is the place to go! While it's a bit on the pricier side, it's absolutely worth every bite. We ordered a medium 2-topping pizza and a medium 4-topping pizza, which came out to about $31-$34 each, depending on the toppings. The portions are HUGE--each slice is super filling (basically like eating two regular slices). They're also very generous with the toppings, so if you prefer lighter toppings, be sure to let them know when ordering. The deep-dish pizza is loaded with cheese, so if you're not a fan of extra cheesy pizza, keep that in mind. The service was excellent, the ambiance was cozy, and the food was a solid 10/10. Plus, we had plenty of leftovers to enjoy later. If you're craving some quality deep-dish comfort food, I highly recommend checking this place out!

    Small Italian salad. So fresh.

Came in on a Friday around 6pm. We wanted to order a pizza to go. This restaurant is up two flights of stairs and is super cute. There is a small bar area and an open dining area with about 14 tables. And looks to be an area for large groups in the back. Ordered a medium deep dish two topping Chicago style with a small Italian salad with house Italian dressing. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait so we waited at the small bar area and had a beer and a "not your father's root beer" (very dangerous choice as it tasted like a craft root beer) when our pizza was ready Karen at the register told us and got our salad ready to go. Wowowowow....the pizza...well crafted. The sauce was rich and full of flavor and the toppings were generous. The cheese was overflowing with deliciousness. The medium is definitely more than needed by two people not looking for leftovers. A small would have been sufficient. The salad (small) was plenty for two. Definitely a place we will revisit for pizza when in the Petaluma area. We could only find street parking but it was great as we found a space just around the corner.

It's 9 pm and this place isn't too quiet or loud, with nice food and pizza! The employees in this small comfortable restaurant are always checking on you and making sure you get what you ordered. I love it here, it's a shame it's 2 hours from my home

Fantastic pizza, you only need a slice or two, salad was excellent and the ambiance was as nostalgic as can be. Service was great, very friendly and attentive. Looking forward to our next visit.

Love the atmosphere! The brick walls, large windows and old wood bar. The waitress was great, attentive and served every thing fresh! The pizza is delicious! We got the double crust with pepperoni and olives. One slice and we were full but we got a large pizza so we have more for later! Definitely a must if you love pizza!!!

Located on the top floor above the Christmas shop, there were about 4 other tables when we arrived on a Monday night. We were debating on which size pizza to get and whether we wanted to grab any drinks or sides. The beers they had on tap were just IPAs , which didn't really intrigue me at that time. We ended up ordering 2 sangrias ($8/ per pint size over ice). We are both fans of sangria and surprisingly this one was pretty good. It was the Beso Del Sol Red Sangria topped with an orange slice. It is a tad on the sweeter side, but sangrias are usually sweeter anyways, plus the ice helped tone it down a little bit. I would order this again, and I even went online to see where you could purchase it and it seems like it is very limited just a few places :/ For the food, we ended getting a medium deep dish pizza with mushrooms, bell peppers, onion and sausage ($31.35). We were considering a small earlier but since we got sangrias we figured why not get a bigger pizza. The server did try to get us to consider getting an appetizer or salad since the deep dish was going to take 25 minutes but we were okay with just sipping on our drinks and waiting. When the pizza arrived we were ready to dig in! Before I could take a photo of the full pizza, the server already took the pizza server tool to help place our pizza slice on a plate. On the table there were the standard red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. She asked if we wanted any ranch on the side which I opted for. The side of Ranch was not listed on their menu so when she offered it I did not know they even had it. When the bill came, I did notice they charge $1 for each side of ranch so FYI there. The pizza was overflowing with all the toppings (I can see why they say try to limit to less toppings on their menu). When the server placed the slice on the plate, the cheese was being pulled all over, the sign of a good deep dish pizza. The pizza felt light and heavy at the same time. The toppings with the cheese made it heavy, but the pizza dough was lighter. The crust had the crunch but not so hard that it was difficult to bite down on. I may opt for one less topping next time in hopes of getting more mushroom on it :) Overall, we enjoyed our drinks and food and would definitely come back and dine again. This pizza joint is definitely a chill place to just come by and have a slice of pizza after a long day. Parking wasn't too difficult to find on a Monday, but unsure how it would be on other days.

Disclaimer: I'm not someone who likes deep dish pizza and my only experience with it is Zachary's and a famous pizza place in Chicago (sorry, I can't remember the name). Summary: I'd bring friends here. I recommend this place. Anyway with that said, I enjoyed my food. We ordered a garlic bread and a large deep dish - half Hawaiian (Canadian ham and pineapples) and the other half with bell pepper, mushrooms, olives, lots of pepperoni. I did not like the Hawaiian side - pineapples were good but what I did not like is the lack of meat (maybe my slice didn't have enough or it was probably just drowning from sauce) and over saturation of sauce. Overall, I did not think the pineapple was a good topping for that pizza. I didn't bother finishing that slice. On the other hand, I enjoyed the other half. For some reason, I did not have that over saturation of sauce issue. It was rather perfect! I could taste all the toppings and there was good amount of meat. Oh and did I mention already, that pizza was oozing mozzarella. Another issue that ruined the experience a little bit is the knife - mine was dull. So I had difficulty cutting my slice. It was difficult enough that my friend mentioned it to me at the end how he saw me struggling. (Note: I did not tell him about the knife, I thought I could work with it without looking helpless.) The garlic bread, I'd order it again. Soft and moist bread. Enough garlic. Warm. I would eat it with pasta. I had to control myself from eating it otherwise I would have been full by the time the pizza came. Our server is great! Sadly, I did not get her name. The only thing I'd recommend for all servers if this is not the practice already - is to inform especially new timers, as we informed her as our case, they charge for sauces like ranch, blue cheese, etc. Had I known that was the case, I would have informed her I don't need one. In fact we did not even finish one container, since I don't use ranch. Such a waste. A teabag is $3.50?! That's insane! Common! They offer beers and wine both white and red. The place is located on the second floor. Stairs are right outside Fantasia boutique. You won't miss the access to the stairs as it's by the walkway. I would describe the place as diner type of place - good for families. Relaxed vibe.

    four topping large deep dish
    Liz B.

I was worried the deep dish would be too overpowered by sauce/cheese but it was the perfect amount. Located in the middle of downtown so be prepared for a wait, but there's tons to do around while you wait. As for portion, one slice of the large deep dish was just right for me and I wasn't overly full.

    THE BEST!!!

They served their sparkling brut Rose and plenty of Pinot Noir, all from Sonoma County, Sonoma Coastal, & Petaluma Gap appellation. One that stood out to us was the 2022 Dragons Back Pinot Noir. A classic tasty Pinot. They went all out and offered tasty bites that really enhanced their wines. They used to be in Healdsburg at Bacchus Landing a much larger location but not centrally located so moving to historical downtown Petaluma gives them an opportunity to attract a larger audience especially since their wines are sourced from the cooler Sonoma county region. What a fine job of remodeling the tasting room. I don't know how they did it but somehow the place seems wider and larger than the previous tasting room at this location. They opened the back with some large gathering tables and their vast selection of records is housed in the back as well. They added some small tables throughout the space. It's easy to maneuver. They also allow guests to bring food inside, so you can sip, sit, nosh & listen to some tunes. There are plenty of eateries around so it's any easy stop. As I write this review I'm reminiscing how well their Sparkling Brut Rose and Dragons Back Pinot Noir went so well with a prosciutto sandwich they offered at their grand opening. A great match, and good representation of Sonoma Coast, Petaluma Gap wines.

Montagne Russe's full name is Montagne Russe Winery and Record Lounge, and it is exactly what it is, as it is part wine tasting room and part vinyl record store with hundreds of new and pre-used classic record albums for sale. What a perfect place to sip great wine while enjoying hit tracks from the past. Montagne Russe pours some of the nicest wines sourced from across Sonoma County, especially the nearby Petaluma Gap, making this newest tasting venue an ideal spot to soak in the atmosphere while supporting a local business. We've visited Montagne Russe before when their tasting room was at Bacchus Landing in Healdsburg, and while it was a beautiful space, it wasn't always busy. So it's no surprise they made the move to downtown Petaluma this past year. We'd been wanting to check out their new location since they opened over the summer, and finally got the chance during a recent weekend afternoon. With lively crowds outside, parking was harder to come by, as the recommended Keller Street Garage was completely full, but a short walk from the River Plaza parking lot did the trick. Even though we had reservations, we didn't end up needing them when we arrived, but the tasting room was full by the time we left. Winemaker and owner Kevin Bersofsky greeted us with a complimentary splash of their 2022 Sparkling Brut Rosé which had subtle hints of citrus throughout. From there, I enjoyed their Library tasting while my friend enjoyed their Signature tasting, both of which were offered at 35 dollars a person. For our second tasting, I enjoyed their 2019 Silver and Gold Chardonnay while my friend enjoyed their 2023 Roberts Road Chardonnay. My tasting of the Chardonnay tasted as it it was lower in alcohol, but higher in acid than my friend's Chardonnay, but both tasted wonderful. For our third pour, we enjoyed their signature Pinot Noirs, we me enjoying their vintage from 2019 and my friend sipped on their 2022 vintage, which were both sourced from Black Knight Vineyard, of which their wine tasting room they replaced in downtown Petaluma. For our fourth pour, I enjoyed their 2021 Terra De Promissio Pinot Noir, while my friend enjoyed their 2022 "Quatre Cinq Un" Pinot Noir, for both of these wines, the tannins were not too overpowering but you could definitely taste them. For our fifth and final pour, I enjoyed their 2018 Robert's Road Pinot Noir, which had hints of baking spices and cherries, while my friend enjoyed their 2021 Alder Springs Syrah, which was lush and silky smooth. For 70 dollars, not including gratuity, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon of wine tasting. When we made our reservation, there was a note about being able to bring in takeout from nearby restaurants, though it never came up once we began our tasting and honestly, we were too focused on the wines to think about food. As the afternoon went on, the crowd grew significantly, and at times it felt like we got a bit lost in the shuffle when it came to service. Still, we made the most of our visit and thoroughly enjoyed both the wines and the people-watching. With Montagne Russe still relatively new to the downtown Petaluma community, I can easily see them thriving here for a long time to come.

We were going to order only 1 churro but the server offered that the churros are gluten free so we ordered two orders! The menu doesn't say this, so FYI. They were one of the best potato preparations I've ever had. Shockingly fluffy and light inside literally like a potato cloud. Maybe the cheese helps with this? I don't know but get them. Salad was good, nice mix of greens. A little wet for my taste if I'm choosing but I'm also not complaining, it was yummy. The potatoes were a perfect dish to come with the salad since otherwise it didn't have a crunch element. This is the first time I've gotten the collar and it was as meaty as it is. I've ordered at other restaurants before and it was not as successful of a dish as here. Loved the sauce and flavors on it. It was kinda sticky due to the sauce but I mean that in a good way, to add to the flavor and overall balance of texture and flavor The snapper lettuce wraps were also yummy! Kind of laborious to get the fish to eat ready but worth the effort, same with the collar too, but also worth the "work" to get the meat off the bones. The snapper has a lot of pin bones but otherwise really yummy bite. The rock wall in the alley creates a whole vibe with the lights and such. It is also one of the oldest walls in Petaluma, which is pretty cool. Slim menu but excellent. The restaurant is tiny, like 6 tables. Being on the patio was nice, more room. Our meal split 4 ways was delicious and filling but also light and sat well in our bellies. I'd absolutely come back again.

A bright and clean space with understated decor. Portions are good so you might want to skip appetizers though we tried the Calamari which was good and the Yuca Frita was sublime. Small wine list with good choices from South America and if you order by the glass you will be amazed at the size of the pours; double what one would normally get! Two of us had the Paella which was very good, a third ordered the excellent Lamb Shank and the fourth had the top notch Pork Rib platter which completely disappeared very quickly. Perhaps next time we'll try the Ceviche as we will return if they can remain in business with such little traffic. While not inexpensive the value is solid as you would pay far more in any other good Sonoma County restaurants for similar dishes. Polite if a bit shy service but man did she light up when we went head over heels over her family home made hot sauces which are a "must try" if you have an appropriate appetizer. Ask for them as they bring you tasty but not too spicy standard condiments. Oh, and very clean restrooms and well paced food serving times. Keep this place open, try it sooner vs later.

We have dined at Central Market a few times, and finally had the chance to use a gift certificate…read morethat was graciously given to us. Last night's experience was outstanding. We really enjoy the vibe of downtown Petaluma, and the ambiance of the restaurant was nicely set with fresh cut flowers in the dinning room. The service was impeccable (shout out to Alex and Rita); they were very knowledgeable about the food (ingredients and preparation) and service was prompt without ever rushing us through the dining experience. We started with the meatball appetizer, and the gem salad. The Blue Ribbon Meatball was fantastic. The gem salad was mind blowingly good; every ingredient, from the eggs, the blue cheese, and the pork belly was over the top The pork belly was cooked in the wood fired oven and the smoke flavor was just amazing. For dinner we split the mushroom pizza and then finished with the Valrhona chocolate tart. Everything was cooked to perfection, the presentation and flavors were sublime. It was evident that a tremendous amount of care and attention to detail goes into the preparation and service of the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will be back soon.

The service was outstanding from start to finish, but what really impressed me was seeing Chef/Owner Tony Najiola actively overseeing every aspect of the operation. He visited tables, checked on guests, and was clearly involved in every detail of the dining experience. That's something you rarely see anymore, especially from a restaurant owner who has been doing this for more than two decades, and it deserves to be applauded. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The shoestring zucchini was a great starter, the lobster risotto was rich and perfectly prepared, and the Testarossa pizza was absolutely outstanding. Pairing it all with a Pliny the Elder made for a perfect Sonoma County dinner. Central Market isn't just a great restaurant, it's the kind of place that reminds you why locally owned restaurants matter. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Petaluma.

I am also really into their home style Italian meals. First, I love the staff here. They were so helpful and accomodating of our special needs child. The servers are really great and take good care of their tables. Also, I really like the classy, kind of old fashioned look of the place. It's kind of classy, but also totally casual. The food here is the main reason I come. The happy hour is great for a little lower costs on a few of their food items. We love ordering some meatballs, a salad, and one of their pizzas. The pizza we had was their Green Goddess and it was delicious! I also ordered their fresh baked sourdough with butter and it's one of the most comforting foods to me. I also got their Seafood Pasta, which reminds me of my East coast, Italian roots. The Italian sausage in the dish works beautifully with the assortment of perfectly cooked seafood and pasta. Hanks is definitely a place I will return to anytime I get the chance. It's a great place!
