First time here and enjoyed a very nice meal. My son & I split a medium (half Hawaiian/half veggie) pizza. The toppings were plentiful and tasty. The crust was just perfect. We also shared a large Caesar salad. The serving was quite ample although a very mild flavor. Was a light dressing & did not detect any garlic. I chose a hard cider from their cooler- I asked for a glass but it was a bit warm. I prefer a frozen glass instead. The prices were decent & the staff friendly. It's a very unassuming place which makes the surprise of great pizza that much better. The server was awesome. Ambiance is lacking but hey it's a whole in the wall pizza spot dont knock it. My wife ordered the Big Al's salad 1/2 size and loved it. Raspberry vinaigrette and you can never ever go wrong with Point Reyes blue cheese. She also had her standard small pizza with sausage, red onion and mushroom which she loved. I had my standard Pepperoni and black olive which was also very good. Beers were great also. We've been here a few times for the pie, and always for takeout. Generally, we got the I love meat each time and a gluten free BYO with italian sausage and pineapple. The first time I had gotten a primo pesto, the second a nonna maria with artichoke hearts and eggplant added. All of the pizzas were solid. I liked how cheesy the pizzas are which is nice. The primo pesto actually didn't have the eggplant the first time so we swapped for spinach. The artichoke hearts worked well here too so we transferred it onto the nonna maria. The amount of veggies for the pizzas was awesome. The meat pizza was really hearty though not too salty or overbearing. We liked the gluten free since it was thin and crispy. We've tried playing around with some of the crust options to find something gluten full and similar but couldn't make a match. An easy option we can turn to in the area. We'll have to try some of the specials next time if they have them available. read more

Back then it was called Capararas Pizza. My family and I had ordered pizza from the original owners who owned a movie shop across the street in Penngrove. My current favorite: Buddy's Special, and I love to put their chopped and juicy sausage on a half of it. Incredible. The sourdough crust is delicious, crusty and chewy, softly sweet. If you're used to New York style slices, then you'll find this pizza a little heavy. It's a weighty pizza. They also offer a Cauliflower crust and gluten free crust! It's a pizza place that made me fall in love with pizza. I shy In telling you how many pizza's I've had. . .thank goodness for gym days. All in all, enjoy this gem in Penngrove. Grab to take home. Grab to take to Penngrove Park. Eat outside under the shade, peering out at the Penngrove shops around, or inside where there is a pizza-joint vibe setting. Ordered "Penngrove pizza", Big Al salad, fried pickles. Arrived on time for pickup, waited 15 minutes, asked how my order was doing, ready to go ( was ready the whole time, no communication). Fabulous Frickles (breaded fried pickles) was surprisingly good, great flavor, cooked well. Of course they did not give me my ranch dressing . The Big Al salad had plenty of produce/extras, but the dressing was just ok. My wife had to doll it up to make it better! The Penngrove Special pizza had chicken, Alfredo sauce, garlic etc. Bland at best. One little piece of chicken per slice . The kids working were a little overwhelmed ( ie they sent the wrong pizza to two customers and were dealing with that), hence on a busy Friday night momma j or other adult needs to be on sight. The first time the order was completely wrong, pizza incorrect and half the order missing, the second time was told delivery would be 45 minutes to an hour, 2 hours later the pizza finally showed up, this last time will be just that, the last! We came in here because of our fellow Yelp reviewers and looking for the best pizza in Petaluma and turned out it was in Penngrove! Jessica the owner was awesome, she greeted us enthusiastically and the menu was chalked full of choices. We ended up getting a XL combo pizza just as it came and an order of frickles which were the bomb!! Jessica refilled our drinks as we ate and checked on us to make sure everything was ok and even gave me a soda to go! Their pizza was okay, the lunch deal is the best bang for your buck. The pizza was extremely oily, and coming from a New Yorker, usually this isn't an issue. The pepperoni pizza was just falling apart everywhere, so it wasn't really a flat crust or regular pizza. It needed to be eaten with a fork. Portions were okay. Food was delicious! I came for an early dinner with a friend and left in a full blown carb coma (the good kind). The staff was so friendly and the food was served incredibly fast. First time here. I was expecting a lot from this place since most of the recent reviews are 5 stars. We ordered the combo (Joe's). For me, a pizza is more than it's toppings. It has plenty of toppings but the crust and sauce are lacking. The crust is thin (I like thin.) but it is very neutral. It's a serving plate for the toppings and doesn't add to the experience. I like sauce. I really didn't have any sense of the sauce when eating this. We also ordered the frickles (fried pickled slices) that comes with a side of ranch dressing. The batter on the pickle slices was good but the pickle slices needed to be thicker. I'm happy that so many people like this place and that I finally got to try it. read more

Been coming here for years now. It used to be better. The last 3 times i've been, I was told it would be ready in 20-30 minutes. OK, no problem...... but when I arrive in 30 minutes, it takes another 30-40 minutes to get my food. I understand places get busy and all that, but this keeps happening! Not only do I have to wait over an hour (for two pizzas), the staff is rude and doesn't care. The last time I went in, the girl working the counter didn't even acknowledge me. One kid said "she'll be right with you" but then he walked away and the kid making the pizzas asked me what name my order was under. I told him and he said it will be another 10-15 and "sorry about that". It then took another 40 minutes. The whole time I was never offered even water or if I wanted to have a beer while I waited. I also noticed one of the guys making the pizza was eating while making them. That's gross. I'm sorry, I don't want some kid munchin' over while he makes my pizza. I am so frustrated my this place because it used to be very good and had excellent customer service. Now it seems like a mess and the staff is rude. read more

We first discovered this place during the pandemic. The pizza was top notch and the service was excellent. When the owner was there one time she gave a group of us a free pint because the pizza was taking longer than expected. We would pop in once every few months and the food was consistently good. Not today. Today the food was as mediocre as it's ever been. First the cesar salad was bland and had very little dressing. I don't expect it to be drenched but this was ridiculous. The wings tasted like they were brined in soy sauce and sprinkled with garlic salt then tossed in the oven for a an hour to way overcook them. Sadly the pizza was no different, the dough had little flavor and was overly thin. If there's such thing as watered down dough this was it. Toppings were ok but not amazing like last time. Maybe they had a bad day or something which I can understand but I'll be giving Mama J's a break for a while. read more

Super delicious! I ordered a black olive and pepperoni and was not disappointed! The crust was incredible, chewy yet a little crunchy, the pepperoni was mighty tasty and the cheese A+ (plus, their ranch is BOMB)! I did end up having to travel with the pizza for about 20 minutes so it needed a little extra love back in the oven for a few when I got home (plus I like my pepperoni a little extra crispy so I'm not complaining one bit!). Staff was super friendly and overall the restaurant seemed like a fun spot to dine as well, either indoor or outdoor!
